I know there's a twenty or thirty year age difference, and he's chubby, hairy, and bowlegged, not to mention her boss, but I'm a fan of GSR. They can't keep throwing hints at us and never resolve anything! I think something will happen during sweeps, especially if this is WP last season.
Karoline
but I'm a fan of GSR.

Not that good with abbrevations.

But, Grissom and Sarah? Because then I do agree.
PrincessArtemis
GSR = Grissom/Sara Romance.

I proudly wear my SS Geeklove hat, currently I'm coasting happily on Sara turning the tables on Griss and giving him whiplash over some of her latest zingers.
Zoned Out
It's so funny because whenever I see "GSR" my first thought is "Gun Shot Residue" which is a product of watching so many crime procedurals, particularly CSI.

Anyway, if I had to name a couple I would be most likely to ship on this show, it would probably be Nick and Sara.
kasper
Hey Zones Out:

Just to let you know SS Geeklove specifically refers to the relationship between Grissom and Sara. It's a good idea to start a new thread if you want to discuss other ships i.e Nick/Sara, Warrick/Catherine etc.

Just trying to keep it on topic.
Zoned Out
I realize that the SS Geeklove is Gil and Sara, kasper, but I didn't know if it would be okay or needed to open a thread for every possible pairing and I did have the GSR comment, so I just threw my comment about Sara and Nick on the end. Oh, and it's Zoned not Zones. ;)
scair
I think 'shipper thread' means ship of any stripe. I'm not real impressed with TPTB's track record on these things. I didn't mind Grissom/Sara so much at first, but it gradually turned both of them into unlikeable people, IMO. Grissom is controlling and insensitive around Sara; he flirts and makes advances when he feels like it and then shuts her down when she makes a move. Sara gets demanding and almost expects special treatment. I am so happy that they've let Sara move on from her infatuation with Grissom.

Now we have the whole Warrick/Cath thing which I have great misgivings about. They have the two of them exchange meaningful glances in a couple episodes and then out of the blue we have Warrick and his new wife which seems calculated only to introduce tension. I have the worst feeling that adultery may raise its ugly head.
kasper
ooops, sorry. I meant Zoned. my bad.

Yes I see you had a GSR comment. it's tricky when topics overlap like that. I understand.
jcpdiesel21
I cannot get into GSR at all. I don't even understand where the romantic notions came from on the show. It was like all the sudden, Sara was all upset at Gil, and I was like "Wha?"

I'd rather see Sara with someone fun like Greg. They really played off each other well last season, and looked like they enjoyed each others' company. But that has seemingly fallen to the wayside.

Totally against Catherine/Warrick. It's just wrong.
Miss Dee
I've always liked GSR, but lately I've been into... brass cats. *ahem* Brass. Cat.

*weeps at reappearance of CSI board*
CloudyGumdrops
I'm not really that fond of the idea of any of the main characters hooking up but, Grissom/Catherine and Brass/Catherine are two possibilities that I think I could get behind.
CloudyGumdrops
Sorry, double post. The boards are being a bit slow when I try to reply to a thread.
kasper
jcdiesel21,

I feel sorry for you man. You can't be serious! Somebody say something to this person!!!!
PrincessArtemis
::switches 'ship hats::

kaspar, I think that Greg would be a great choice for Sara. I don't think it's gonna happen, but they really did have a good friendship going in S5 and Greg has the honor of being one of the few people to get Sara to audibly giggle on at least four occassions. Happy!Sara has got to count for something, and he has been very steadfast around her. A rather shocking thing to say about Greg, but he has been and could continue to be a good stabilizing force in her life. This is not a bad thing.

::switches 'ship hats again::

That said, I think GSR is inevitable, and I'm glad that Sara's getting to be on more even ground with Grissom after so long.
elvenqueenofmirkwood
I would love Grissom with Cath. It's like they're the mommy and daddy figures of the team, with Nick, Greg, Warrick and Sara as their kids. Oh and Brass and Doc Robbins as the crazy uncles.

*cough*

Clearly I'm putting too much thought into this.
Leevee
I'm against Grissom/pretty much anyone on the show. None of them seem right for him. I also don't like Greg/Sara or Warrick/Catherine (I don't even really care about Warrick/Tina, I just don't really care for Warrick. He bores me).

Now, Catherine/Brass. I like that. I like it a lot.

(Of course, what I like the most will never happen. Because they're not ever going to make Greg/Hodges canon, not even in the last episode ever.)
catastrophe
I like Grissom/Sara. I've always been amused how, even with all their individual dysfunctions and flaws, they'd be a much healthier relationship than Catherine has ever had or Warrick's current one with his wife. It's so bizarre.

The mutual geekery is so appealing because in many ways, they are the same. But Sara's different enough in a positive way where I think they'd be able to make it work extremely well. Their mutual death glares to the camera crews in the last ep? Priceless.

I really dislike Greg/Sara, they're so...vacant together. And I hope Cath/Warrick never happens because it'll be the typically bland twist of either Tina dying or cheating on Warrick. What a pointless storyline that would turn out to be.
PrincessArtemis
And I hope Cath/Warrick never happens because it'll be the typically bland twist of either Tina dying or cheating on Warrick. What a pointless storyline that would turn out to be.

Now that he's married, I completely agree. I'd be more than a little steamed if they got together now. Before? Oh yeah, I could went for some Yo!Bling.
Ocean Chick
I'm a total GSR shipper. And I like the YoBling - Warrick has always had a good effect on Catherine, grounding her, and he seems to have a good relationship with Lindsey. I just wish they hadn't done the whole marriage thing, as it makes the YoBling look so wrong. Why bring another woman into it if in the end you're going to break them up?

I like Greg as a a friend for Sara, but not a romantic relationship. He just seems too immature still. I can't see him enjoying a quiet day at home reading forensics magazines and discussing the latest new innovations.

I like having fun with Nick and Greg as a couple, though I know that would never happen. But I can see both of them easily finding women who'd be happy to settle down with them and raise little bratlings.
Karoline
Now, Catherine/Brass. I like that. I like it a lot.

Me too! I've always liked the way they interact with eachother. Oh pretty please, let it happen.
kasper
You guys,
SS Geeklove is a GSR thread. Please stay on topic. Talk about other ships somewhere else and discuss your dislike of Grissom/anyone somewhere else please.

This thread is strictly for Grissom and Sara. I don't have a problem with other ships, whatever they may be. They're just not for this thread.

Moderators can you please help out. I'm just trying to keep things under control here. This thread could go way off topic soon.
Thank you
Miss Dee
My bad - I thought this was a general shipper thread, not one solely for Geek Love.
scair
I think it is a general shipper thread. The title leaves it open. Do we really need a multitude of threads for each possible ship anyway? Kasper, maybe you should ask one of the mods if you think it should be GSR only.

I'm against Grissom/pretty much anyone on the show. None of them seem right for him. I also don't like Greg/Sara or Warrick/Catherine (I don't even really care about Warrick/Tina, I just don't really care for Warrick. He bores me).

I agree with the Grissom part. He doesn't seem interested in or capable of sustaining a relationship. I'm not denying that he feels something for Sara, but I don't think he would ever do anything about it. As for Sara, I'm just glad that she's left her need for Grissom's approval behind, whether or not she still has feelings for him. I want her to be content and professional at her job, whether or not she wants or gets a guy. But there's a teensy bit of me that agrees with Zoned Out that Nick and Sara would make a good couple. With the added attraction of confounding Grissom.
kasper
scair,

The term "Geeklove" specifically refers to GSR and has for the past 6 years! Just ask anyone of the other thousand or so people who post here.
scair
Kasper, I am absolutely aware of what SS GeekLove means. The title of the thread can be read to be either GSR only or for all ships. But since someone else has started a general shipper thread, the issue is solved.
catastrophe
I also thought this was the general shipper thread, the title "the shipper thread" makes it seem that way at least. I think we'll be fine with one, I don't see the necessity in having one only specific to GSR.
august2688
When the thread was started, it was intended to be just a general shipper thread, and I hope it remains that way. A thread devoted to nothing but GSR would get boring pretty fast.
upperwestwannabe
Oh for the love of Pete. Ship and let ship, let's not be elitist about it. As a Grissom/Sara shipper myself, I get pretty p.o.'ed when someone shuts me down, so karmically, I think it's only fair to let everyone celebrate their personal brand of fanwankage, whatever that may be.
SCChemE
As for GSR, though I'm not a huge fan, I think it may be inevitable at the end of the show from different things I've read. If that does happen, I want for Grissom to have to prove, prove, and prove himself to Sara before it happens. With her as she is now, confidant and sexier than ever, I think it's a good step in that direction. I would hate for him to just say that he wanted it to happen and for her to fall all over herself to be with him.

I want Sara to be wooed. Seeing as it's Gil, it will be awkward and geeky, but she seems to like that. Thus all the laughter at Greg!
Flying Penguin
Hu-yuuuuge GSR'er here. I'm with ya, SCChemE, in that it's inevitable because if TPTB don't pan out, it'll all have just been the biggest mindfuck ever. I mean, truly truly cruel after 6 years of one-liners and glances. After all the effort that Sara's put into letting him know how she feels, ITA that when Griss finally comes around to it he better prove himself worthy of Sara. That girl has really built herself up in the past couple of seasons and doesn't need him screwing with her. Yea, she loves him and most probably always will, but that doesn't mean she'll give in to his affections just because he finally feels like doing something about "this".

I love my Geeks to death but there's a limit. Can you tell how bitter I'm becoming about this? A TV show shouldn't do this to me, dangit! Geez, I picked the wrong show to ship a couple in.

I want Sara to be wooed. Seeing as it's Gil, it will be awkward and geeky
EEEK! It's thoughts like this that keep me shipping!

(LOL complete turnabout)
SCChemE

Especially a show that claims not to be character driven, but then throws character driven eps in the mix. Bastards!

I really, really like Sara, but Gil, he's going to have to decide to be a man for me to go GSR. Be a man, Gil. Quit hiding behind the job!

That and shave the beard.
velouria
I really, really like Sara, but Gil, he's going to have to decide to be a man for me to go GSR. Be a man, Gil. Quit hiding behind the job!

A-men. I don't particularly ship this show, as much as I desperately want to see some sign of personality, backstory, or characterization (for a show that sells itself on sex and has such eyecandy actors, the main cast is the most frighteningly asexual group ever) and more than five toss-off seconds devoted to their relationships would be nice.

I was never a fan of the Gil/Sara relationship before, because it did such bad things to the character of Sara, and that pissed me off because I adore her. And as much as I like Grissom, I think the writing concerning his feelings for Sara and how he treated her went over the line to befuddling without direction, because for someone so analytical and with skills of observation like Grissom's, his longterm behavior can really only be chalked up to conscious emotional abuse. Yes, he's totally a twelve year old, but he still has consistently picked up social and emotional clues from other people around him, and his moments of head in a microscope assholery with the others never indicated any true malice. But with Sara, here's a young woman who obviously has the geeky hots for him as soon as she stepped off the plane at his request, and he strung her along for a while, until she apparently misread one of his double entendres and tried to move on, and then he was ridiculously hostile personally and professionally toward her for two years.

But the past few seasons, as crappy as they have been otherwise, have turned me around. It seems to me the actors are trying to have their characters move on from the damage the UST did to both of them. Sara has her humor and confidence back, and even her hair seems happier. She's (bad word choice, but whatever) blossomed, still a spitfire workaholic but she seems more in control of herself, and has a better outlook, and maybe the Gil thing helped her wake up. And Gil seems to have snapped out of it as well. I've justified it to myself that he found out about his hearing, and Hank, all at once and it just sent him on a bitterness fiesta parade that took him an extra year to extricate himself from. He seems to have woken up to the fact he has been a crappy, crappy boss sometimes, and was a phenomenally shitty influence in Sara's life when she needed a friend, and he's doing a lot better.

So five plus years too late, I am finally down with the USS Geek Love. I won't cry if they don't get together, or if they do a 'in the last ten minutes of the series, Gil quits and Sara goes with him and what does that mean, you filthy wankers?' either. But it would be nice to see. I think it's great that their relationship did a power flip-flop, and that they seem to care enough about each other to manage to get back to smirking and flirting after everything. And it would be sweet to see Gil called away from their date, but instead of Teri disappearing on Bug Man, Sara would get all excited and get quickly a tiramisu to go to share for the ride. And call me a romantic, but that would just be adorkable.
linderhill
It truly is amazing how different people interpret what they see on the show. Me, I've never seen this so called UST between Grissom and Sara. I don't think Grissom is at all capable of a relationship, especially at this point in his life. I can see him one day falling into a partnership with a fellow entomologist sometime after retirement but that's pretty much it. I say this being a true-blue Grissom/Nick or Warrick/Nick shipper. At one time I thought Cath and Nick would be a fun pairing but they've assasinated her character so much, Cath just needs a romance outside the job. (tho' I do find the pairing with Brass kind of intriguing).
Hobbes75
This a spoiler but it has to do with GSR, so I figured it's be OK to post it in this thread.

From Ask Ausiello on tvguide.com: Question: OK, we've been waiting for six years. Is something going to happen between Grissom and Sara on CSI before the end of this season? — Cindy
Ausiello: Does sexual subtext qualify as "something" in your book? Because you're gonna get heaps of it in the May 4 episode when someone with unbelievable powers of perception picks up on the heat between G-S — and promptly calls them on it.

Also, "The person who calls Grissom and Sara on their suppressed feelings would know a thing or two about romantic longing: He/she specializes in fantasy fulfillment."
Krysalis
I'm thinking Lady Heather. That would make an interesting romantic triangle.
catastrophe
It's not Lady Heather (ewww), it's supposedly just a random guy named Caprice that caters to people's fantasies.
shootingstars
When I first read that, I assumed that it would be one of the main characters. So I thought Catherine only because of what she said about fantasies earlier on in the season.

But nevermind then.
velouria
The original spoilers for 6x22 can be read over yonder.

From what I understand, however, the scene has been rewritten somewhat and now Brass is no longer present. And there are a few additional lines in which Caprice makes it a little more blatant that he's calling out Grissom, and the scene might not cut to black from there after all, but they might film some probably painful awkwardness between Grissom and Sara (that I know I will personally enjoy, because I like anything that proves Grissom isn't a robot.)

The description of Victor Caprice is (from casting): 40s-Mid 50s, suave, intellectual, businesslike and confident to a chilly degree, Caprice has made a fortune catering to the fantasies of paying customers. He keeps a stable of elite escorts, and insists that his business is strictly legal - but one suspects that his employees aren't above a little prostitution if the price is right. Jeff Quinn died while he was unwittingly involved in one of Caprice's scripted idylls - but when he's questioned as a possible suspect, Caprice calmly refutes any knowledge of Jeff's death.

The name kind of threw me - I know Rambo loves manipulating character names, but just Caprice made me picture something a bit more flamboyant.

My personal speculation? This comes right after another supposed reveal of Grissom's interest (in whatever way you want to see it) in Sara from his POV in 6x21. Continuity from one episode to the next, from CSI? I bet they're planning something. Twenty-four episodes this season, if I've heard correctly, and they were ready to have Grissom and Sara knock boots at the beginning of the season. WP loves to rewrite on the set, and Rambo as a writer is notorious for pushing the envelope when it comes to the relationship aspects of CSI, but still, I'd take decent odds they're planning on some kind of moment before the season ends, especially with Petersen being quoted as saying he'd like his schedule reduced in the immediate future.
Sky Masterson
I'm not sure I'm where (or even if) I'm supposed to post this but as the YTDaW board is mostly GSR based here goes:

some people over at the YTDaW board are organizing a CSI conference in Vegas on aug 4-7.

some members of this board are probably also members of the YTDaW board, (if not, join the board it's great fun like this board), PM me or contact member CTorresBarreda for more info or the password for the protected thread if you're interested in joining. (thread is only accessible for those of us that are actually going).

Think about it!

Mods, i'm sorry if I'm overstepping my welcome here, just thought it would be fun to meet in person with some members of this board as well.
bondfool
I really don't want to see Grissom hook up with anyone from the Labitrail but I do want to see him be less lonely. Maybe just get a dog or even a goldfish. He'd probably go for something more exotic though. Like a chameleon or a tarantula.
Swedish Chef
What's my problem? Everytime I watch this show, I find myself more invested in ferreting out signs of GSR than the following the mystery de jour. And the little hints of reawakening geeklove dropped throughout the past few episodes are only adding fuel to my stupid, stupid fire. And now I come and check this forum, and there might be something developing along this storyline? It seems cruel, because everytime I get my hopes up about the geeklove, I am totally disappointed.

Oh, and velouria? I love that term you used, "the geeky hots." Just awesome.

And count me in as one of the folks who thinks Gil is going to need to do some wooing and pursuing of my goddess of geek, Sara. Ahh, how much I would love to see that storyline percolating in the back of a few episodes. I would be glued to the screen, people, glued, I say! I'm cool with getting character development in fits and starts, and having the relationship emerge in and out of the shadows, but you see, I need development, action of some kind, even if it is occurring on the evolutionary time scale. Which, frankly, is probably the rightful pace of geeklove. But we need some evolving now, PTB! Give me something to obssess over for the summer.
shootingstars
I thought last week's episode was amazing.

The 'dueling' scene with the cameras was absolutely adorable. And I loved that little smile.

And of course, the end made my night.

From The Early Show interview:
Petersen: And the idea is that it's intimate, it's not sexual. In any way.

Chen: No it's not. But-

Petersen: It's the way we're gonna do it. It's intimate. It's obviously, it's like a married couple in a bedroom at night talking to each other.

Chen: Very comfortable with each other

I like the idea of the relationship having real meaning. Like the whole 'married couple' thing.
Swedish Chef
In the wake of the GSR revelation, I took myself over to the PureJorja site (with its clips galore) and tried to suss out when all of this could come about. A brief(ish) review convinced me that nothing could have happened until quite late in season five. So, I'm thinking the start of the relationship can be located sometime between the attack in the hospital for the criminally insane and early season six. (I think it has to be that early, because they seem to be well into a relationship at the time of the reveal).

Thoughts?

I simply can't believe I'm devoting this much mental energy to this storythread, but what can I say? I love it when the geeky (or, "geekier," because I think Sara rocks) girl triumphs. (Take that Lady Heather and Sofia!).
jenanna
I simply can't believe I'm devoting this much mental energy to this storythread, but what can I say?
I feel your pain. I'm a regular (obsessive?) viewer, though, and can recall scenes at the drop of a hat and didn't need to re-watch anything. I am pretty convinced it happened after "Grave Danger," off-screen obviously. The whole realizing that life is short thing. Leading up to it were Sara's big revelation about her family in "Nesting Dolls," and that little scene in "Snakes." That scene showed that Grissom wasn't freaking out when Sara referred to him as "more than a boss," in fact he almost seemed like he wanted to talk more when she cut him off. I think they got more comfortable with each other after that. They were also pretty jokey in "Grave Danger" (before Nick's kidnapping, of course). I also noticed at the beginning of season 6 they stood closely together a lot, and she started calling him Griss. I don't think I'd ever heard that before.

I don't think we'll ever know, honestly. Even JF and WP seem to have different ideas. I kind of like not knowing, each viewer is able to come up with his/her own interpretation.
Contralto
Had to laugh at tonight's rerun . . .

Sara's impounding a yellow diamond ring worn by a shooting suspect . . . "Wanna bet this canary sings in the key of GSR?"
CicadaNymph
I've been toying with the idea of starting a new thread called How long has this been going on? but since it's coming up in this thread, I'll add my thoughts here.
I simply can't believe I'm devoting this much mental energy to this storythread, but what can I say?

Amen.
I feel your pain. I'm a regular (obsessive?) viewer, though, and can recall scenes at the drop of a hat and didn't need to re-watch anything. I am pretty convinced it happened after "Grave Danger," off-screen obviously. The whole realizing that life is short thing.

Yup.

I agree that the exact moment when it turned from "concerned friendship" to dating may always remain a mystery, but there are definetly clues to be found proclaiming that a relationship exists, as has been said. It's not by chance, I'm sure, that TPTB chose to rerun Kiss Kiss Bye Bye to follow up on "the scene". Grissom and Sara show up in Hodges' lab as tight together as Siamese twins, it almost looks like they were holding hands. We get Sara's wonderful line about "grey hair", and then the dialogue repeats "the ring" "the ring" "the
ring" three times and, oh what's that Sara has around her neck? A choker with a ring as the focus. And to help us out, wardrobe has conveniently given her a hickey scarf to bring extra attention to her neck area, just in case we missed it. And what is the result of the test on the ring? "Positive for GSR". There's a great line over at cafepress: "forget text, give me subtext!" I'd almost assert that they were married, and Grissom's line in Bang Bang "you married people take things too personally " is just another of his little fibs.

Sara's impounding a yellow diamond ring worn by a shooting suspect . . . "Wanna bet this canary sings in the key of GSR?"

I think at this point in the run of the show, they NEVER use the term GSR without it having a double meaning.

In Room Service Sara says: "no visible GSR", which tells me it must be invisible. In Poppin' Tags she says "GSR in the backseat", another way of saying it's happening, but not where everyone can see it.

In the infamous clue picture, (and yes I too wish there would be an explanation of it) there were shadows on the kitchen doors in which people claimed to see Grissom and Sara embracing. To me, that was hinting that Grissom and Sara are together behind closed doors.

And, by the way, on viewing "the scene" yet again, I suddenly realized that the cheesy K-mart robe (as I believe someone called it upthread) is decorated with leaves or shall we say vegetation?
Ocean Chick
The Chicago Tribune has an awesome interview with Carol Mendelsohn regarding the finale and The Scene. I'd link to it, but I don't know how. It's on the tv blog spot. Run, don't walk, to read it.

Spike has started over with the first season again. Based on what we know now about G&S and reading Sobell's recaps, something happened at that seminar in SF!
