Here is the thread for the new girl, Lindsay Monroe (played by Anna Belknap). I'm liking her pretty well so far and I even like the relationship that seems to be developing between her and Danny, but if they try to make it a triangle between her, Danny, and Mac I will seriously revolt.
Oh, and she likes deep-fried breaded spiders. Never bet against a country girl from Montana. ;)

I love her too! And she and Danny would be absolutely lovely together, in my opinion.
But triangle with Mac? That's just.. No. Please, no.

Here's a question. When Lindsay was first introduced she was supposed to have some kind of "dark secret", but there has been no mention of that on the show. Anyone know if that will pop up any time soon or if TPTB dropped it altogether?

She irritates me. Why from Montana? Why is she in NY?
I liked Aiden. I know a lot of people don't like her, but I thought she seemed like a real New Yorker. I thought she worked off of Danny well.
I'm not crazy about relationahips between lead characters. It's too hard to maintain any excitement without really contrived situations, i. e. pregnancy scare, infidelity, lack of committement, too much committment. Think ER. I haven't watched it for a few years, but I swear every one has slept with each of the others.

Ugh, turn around three times and spit when you reference ER, Lev7. And I can't help but think of CSI:Original either, with the never-ending car crash that is the GSR.

I liked Aiden and it irritated me how she was written off, but I also like Lindsay (it's not just that we share a name...really!) and don't see her as a replacement for Aiden. I think the ensemble really needed someone who was "new" to the area so they could introduce things to the audience without Mac or Stella explaining something endemic to NYC to other native New Yorkers.
She irritates me. Why from Montana? Why is she in NY?
'Cause she got a better job? More pay? More of a chance to work with cutting edge technology? Maybe she was bored with her old job, wanted to live in a city, was tired of the familiar. Maybe she had a serious break up and just needed a change of scene so she wouldn't keep running into him (or her). Maybe she had family out East and wanted to be close to them. Maybe she always wanted to run away to join the circus and CSI:NY was the closest she could get. Seriously, do you think no one EVER has moved from out west to NYC?
I assume they'll give more of her backstory bit by bit, just like the other characters and 'cause she was introduced later than the others, that backstory will take a bit longer to come out. Do you really want them to give all that information at once? Up to now, character development and backstory reveal on all the CSIs is kind of like a strip tease and that's a nice change from many television dramas.
I'm not crazy about relationahips between lead characters. It's too hard to maintain any excitement without really contrived situations
ITA. Plus, they try to write these characters as being professionals, and I really don't think it's all that professional to go sleeping around with your co-workers. It makes things very awkward if/when it doesn't work out.

I love Lindsay. I didn't think I would cuz I was sad to see Aiden go, but I do. She challenges Danny and it's really fun. Their banter/flirting has become the highlight of the show for me.

I like Lindsay too. I don't think she's pretty looking, but she's a good foil to Danny, and seems to fit in well with the rest of the cast.
The Montana thing bugs me. Probably because it's mentioned every single time she's on screen. I get that New Yorkers love their city and all, but it gets old really fast. Yeah, there are places other then Miami outside of New York. Get over it already.

I love Lindsay as well, and I love how she's so real and someone I can relate to.
What do you all want for Lindsay next season?
I want to know why she came to NY, and why she became a CSI

I want to know why she came to NY, and why she became a CSI
I think that has something to do with this:
When Lindsay was first introduced she was supposed to have some kind of "dark secret", but there has been no mention of that on the show. Anyone know if that will pop up any time soon or if TPTB dropped it altogether?
In seeing an early S2 rerun the other day I was reminded of how it seemed like Lindsay had some secret. It was the crossover with
CSI:Miami when there is the bloodbath in the house and Mac sense Lindsay back to the lab to coordinate everything there. Later Lindsay says something to Danny about how she didn't like being sent away from the scene and Danny says something about it being hard to see what with all the blood and then Lindsay says something about how she has seen lots of blood before.
We did get a little bit more of this when Stella was hurt and Lindsay freaked out. It might even be why she took that phone sex girl's case so hard. I hope this does come to something because then I can be impressed with how the show subtly foreshadows things over time like I've been impressed on various occasions with
NCIS and how seemingly insignificant things play a part later on.

Yeah, it'd be nice to have some continuity and find out why what happened to Stella freaked her out so much.
I don't say it enough but I love Lindsay. I love that she challenges Danny in every possible way and that whenever they have a case together, he's the one in charge, he's more mature than he was in S1. I like how clueless she is when it comes to NY habits. I dig her determination.

One think, she sworn officer in the NYPD or just an employee.
During the last new episode, I thought a saw a NYPD shield, but I didn't remember ever seeing her carry a weapon.
It's been bugging me.
TIA.

Lindsay is (more or less) the character who got me to stick with CSI: NY long enough to fall in love with it. I love that she's not a city girl because (being from one of those rural states) it's great to see the big city from that perspective.
I also love Lindsay and Danny's flirty relationship, but I'd rather it stayed as just that. Because I agree that romance between main characters pretty much always leads to problems. It'd be funny if they just kept it as kind of a subtle thing. Maybe Danny could hate Lindsay's boyfriend if she got one or something...

Now that I've seen confirmation that Anna Belknap is in fact pregnant, I'm starting to think what that will mean for the show.
I saw some speculation somewhere during my search for the aforementioned confirmation that the reason the Danny/Lindsay relationship has become outright cannon so quickly is in fact because of Anna's pregnancy. Not that they will write the pregnancy into the show or anything, but just that they moved up some of their ideas for intense D/L moments instead of spreading them out over the season more since there will be a time in the middle of the season that Anna will be gone on maternity leave.
I don't know if that's true or not, but it does make sense. I don't really know how I hope they handle AB's absence. All I do know is that because of my love of D/L and how much I just like Lindsay as a character I hope the lack of Lindsay is kept to a minimum as much as is possible meaning that maybe she could shoot some stuff early or something so she isn't completely absent from a bunch of episodes and also that I hope they don't do anything ridiculous and weird with the character to handle the inconvenience like I've heard of other shows resorting to for their pregnant actresses.

I hope they handle it in some semi-believable way, like having her need to go back to montanna to deal with a family death or something... I'm not picky as long as it isn't a stupid or soap opra-esque solution. And I definitely think it would be smart to film some stuff for later eppisodes early, but that makes it tricky if they haven't got the whole thing written yet.
I understand that the actors work long and hard days, and I know that a lot of new moms expecially want to spend as much time as possible with their kids, but I really, really don't want Lindsay as a character to become more minor or appear less often.

The latest edition of
Ask Ausiello at tvguide.com has an official statement from Zuiker about Anna's pregnancy. Here's the question and response; there are no plot details given away, but I'm marking it spoiler just in case:
Question: Rumor has it that Anna Belknap of CSI: NY is pregnant. Is there any news on how the show plans on handling this?— Keri
Ausiello: In an exclusive, only-for-AA statement, exec producer Anthony E. Zuiker confirms that Belknap "will be having her first child early in the spring. She will be leaving us for a few episodes to allow her to have sufficient time with her family. We are excited for her return, where she will finish out Season 3."
So that answers the question about Anna's role this season. I am curious to see what they have planned for her character.

Celebrity Baby Blog has posted that Anna Belknap gave birth to a girl on January 14. They list their source as TV Guide, although I looked around TVG's website and didn't see it mentioned there. Perhaps it's in the print edition?
Congratulations to Anna and her family.

I just read pretty much the same information (baby girl born on Jan. 14th) in a short article over at zap2it.com so I guess we can consider it confirmed. Congratulations to Anna.
They must have really been filming ahead of time with her considering her last episode for awhile was just last week, a week and a half after she had her baby which means she probably hadn't been working for 2-3 weeks at least.
Was the baby born early? For some reason I was thinking she wasn't due until February. With a mid-Jan. birth I'm thinking there's a better than good chance that we don't need to worry about he being back for at least the last few episodes of the season which would film in April-early May.

Zoned - TV Guide did a cover story on CSI: NY back in December in which they stated that she was due in January. So the baby was probably born on time. As for her return, there are already spoilers out indicating in which episode she'll return. She definitely won't be gone for long.
Character-wise, it was great to finally get some revelations about Lindsay in The Lying Game. Knowing that she witnessed several friends (presumably teenaged or college-aged) killed explains why she's been upset by the deaths of young women over the last two seasons. It might also explain why she was so eager to go undercover on behalf of the college student/jewelry store robber in Not What It Looks Like - she understood the girl's desperation in wanting to save her friend. It also explains her issues with grieving mothers. In Here's to You, Mrs. Azrael, Mel Harris's character murders the girl she believed was responsible for her daughter's death (but it turns out it was her own daughter she killed.) That was an extreme reaction of course, but chances are at least one of Lindsay's friends' moms would have questioned why Lindsay survived when her own daughter didn't. And Lindsay would always wonder if she could have done something different that day and if things could have turned out differently. She's been living with a lot of guilt and grief for the last ten years.
The show has done a good job of laying out clues about Lindsay's past over the last two seasons. Hopefully when Lindsay returns, we'll see that this trial has given her some closure.

Another Anna Belknap
article on Celebrity Baby Blog.
Working while pregnant has been fairly easy for the 36-year-old, who admits she has "been very lucky" as her first trimesters with this pregnancy, as well as with her 22-month-old daughter coincided with hiatuses from the show. The one problem that expecting does cause Anna is with her memory -- "Your brain doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to anymore when you’re pregnant, so I have to spend more time learning my lines," she notes.
