The Todd is one of my favorite characters. Well, they all are my favorites, but he's not my favorite favorite. He ranks slightly above Kelso and JD but slightly lower than Carla and Laverne.

I loveThe Todd. I got an email from him once after donating to his campaign for the MS Bike-A-Thon. It was a form letter, but still cool to see Robert Maschio in my inbox. Does anyone else think that we should change the "speedos" in the title to "banana hammocks"? Hammock up!

Was last night's episode the first official reveal of Todd's last name? I think the sheet said Todd Quinlan.
Azamiryou
Mar 22, 2006 @ 5:27 pm
If I recall correctly, they mentioned that in one of the DVD commentaries or somewhere. I think the story was that they had planned never to give him a last name, but one time he had to borrow a name tag from an extra or someone, and it ended up on film and in the final cut. So for continuity they had to keep it.

I remember that discussion, too, but I thought they said that it wasn't supposed to be visible and wasn't really official. I was under the impression that his last name was still officially unknown. The list on last night's episode was very clearly visible and was definitely intended to be. Does anyone know if Quinlan was his last name in that previous episode? And was this the first time it has been mentioned since then?

Yes, that was the name before -- he's listed on the IMDB as "Todd Quinlan", and has been since Rob's first episode.

Yes, because the term "banana hammock" will never be not funny.
I love The Todd too.

One of my favorite Todd moments was when JD fantasizes about what would have happened if The Todd had performed a surgery instead of Turk, who had lost the patient. In the fantasy, when the patient starts crashing, Todd rips his own heart out to give to her and just before he collapses, he gasps, "I'm gay!" He drops to the floor and the attending nurse says, "I knew it!"

I love in the second episode of this week the "sterile high-five!" I forgot about its existence, and then I started cracking up very loud. Really enjoyed that moment, especially since Dr. Wen participated as well.

The Todd is probably one of my least favourites (not sure why...just never as funny to me as the other supporting characters) but I agree, the sterile high five was genius. Little moments like that make him worthwhile, as long as they don't overuse him. Oh, and in the air band episode from this season...genius.

Seriously!!! You can't have THE TODD without banana hammocks
Speedos is not part of my vocab.
I think Todd is really sexy when he's in his scrubs (cutoff sleeves) and he does this bicep-flex/bow

People, I don't know how comfortable I am with The Todd being so clever and tricking Carla and Elliot with false gayness. I accept his Toddsexual-ness but this never-before-seen intelligence? Makes me very very uncomfortable.

Well, its intelligence connected with being able to score more with women. Sort of an idiot savant. Maybe he saw that episode of Spin City when Alan Ruck's character did almost the same thing.

Well, the Todd had to have some intelligence. He got through med school, and he was ranked the second-best surgeon in the hospital, even above Turk. There's certainly some intelligence there, even if it's subsumed beneath his boorish and pig-like behavior.
Flying Penguin
Apr 26, 2006 @ 10:18 pm
M. Darcy and cjl, your theories make sense. heatercat, yes, um... obviously, The Todd has some intelligence because he's a surgeon. I meant sort of "social intelligence", you know? Because the usual extent of his social concerns includes whether or not to waste his x-Box joke on an all-male crowd.

My mom just called me to report The Todd's presence on ATWT. Dude, he's creepy. And wearing a suit? That's so unTodd. I'd love to see the ATWT writers make a nod to Scrubs. As long as it's not Robert's character (don't know the name yet) wearing a Speedo.

I'm not going to lie to you, The Todd on ATWT is so not good. It's like he's at that early stage in acting where the person doesn't know what to do with his arms. It's a shame because he is so good on Scrubs. It makes me appreciate his performance there all the more.

I'm (perhaps uncharitably) reminded of Big Billy's comment on the first season DVD commentaries that Robert Maschio is actually very much like the Todd in real life; perhaps he seems more natural on Scrubs because, well, he is?
Except for the banana hammock thing. Surely no one actually collects those?

I thought Maschio was ok in his (not very Todd-like) guest shot on the UPN sitcom "Cuts", though then again it was not exactly a great sitcom.

"I'm not going to lie to you" -- to the poster named Noirish.
This is Robert Maschio, the actor who plays the Todd (among other characters). This is my 2nd post here in 5 years (the other time was to promote my website www.robertmaschio.com).
I'm very surprised that a soap fan would come to a scrubs site to critique my work, omg why?
Secondly "Fan Reviews" have been running 99 to 1 in favor of my work...guess who the 1 is? (sorry I play a pedaphile, rapist, stalking, potential murderer - if it doesn't remind you of the Todd, there a reason for that! It's a different character! There
s no high five coming in this one...You realize tv is all make believe, correct?
"He's like an actor in the early stages who doesn't know what to do with his arms..." Really? 80% of the soap is shot and covered in close ups - the means from the neck up my friend...don't worry, even though the arms are out of frame, they are behaving truthfully...thanks for the astute evaluation though.
"It's such a shame to see..." Really? False sincerity always makes my blood boil...maybe I should just relax, enjoy the kudos from the majority of fans, and count all the money I made, instead of addressing you...but the truth is, if you ever wondered, do actors ever read stuff posted about them - yes, sometimes they do, from time to time, and every once in a blue moon they feel the need to point out the absurdity of the comments made by the poster.
See you in 5 years when your give your next review...

Ahh, I am so a fangirl. Hi "Todd!" Well, if you deem us worthy enough to come back here, I love you-hi five. In fact, if my husband would let me change my laminated list you would be there, man. Well, Rob, not the Todd. Also, I am curious, I know that Franklyn's mother had MS, which is why he does the bike marathons, is there a personal story for you? Either way, everything you guys do is awesome. I hope that we get to see more of the Todd this season. Last season he really shined!

If it's really you Rob, I hope you know I'm kinda enjoying you on ATWT. It's my favorite soap and you are soooo hot I think I'm going to start collecting the Scrubs DVD just to see more of you.
I do see what others mean about your acting though. In your first couple of days you were very over the top like most soap opera cliches so it was extremely obvious from your first scene that you had raped Maddie. I wish you had been more subtle like in your one-on-one scenes with Maddie.
But I'm willing to give you a pass on those early days, a soap opera is more challenging that many like to give it credit for and since those first few days you have been fantastic. Can't wait to see your scenes with Trent Dawson tomorrow! :)
My only real complaint is that I wish they had cast someone who wasn't so good looking. I keep thinking "Marry me" when I should be thinking "Bastard!"

I'm sorry to have offended
therealtodd. I've been offline for a bit and didn't realize you'd responded. I really am a huge fan of your work (no false sincerity - honest), and didn't mean to make you upset. I love your portrayal of "The Todd" and find that it is often the highlight of watching "Scrubs" for me.
For that reason, I was disappointed when I watched you on ATWT the first few days and perceived there to be some flaws in your performance (especially the initial meeting with Henry where you seemed (to me) to be a bit awkward with your arms). It can't help that Louis has been written as a one-dimensional, "mustache-twirling" villian (which must make it hard to give a nuanced performance) and that the story itself seems to have been slapped together in a rushed way, without too much regard for the backstories (or strengths) of the long-term characters and actors involved.
I'm honestly glad that the feedback you've received has been all positive. I'm sure the folks on the
As The World Turns portion of this site would love to hear from you. In the meantime, I guess we will have to agree to disagree on my so-called review of your first couple of appearances, which was not meant to be a malicious attack on you in any way.
Concilliatory High-five.

So, I left The Todd's myspace profile a comment. I think that it might be a real profile, since Scrubs-Season Three has him in their top friends. But, the really fun part is that "he" wrote back! Does anyone know if the myspace page is legit?
And, btw, the comment was, "Hey Todd, is that package for me?" And, he replied, "You know it's for you! Your husband can join in too... " Ahh, Scrubs rocks!
