A shiny reward to whomever gets the reference.

Gotta say, of the ones I know of, the most unique one was Jewel in Stargate: Atlantis, because the only way to tell it was her was by watching the credits, or listening to her voice. The prosthetics were that huge.
skillzdatkillz
Jewel was also in the short lived but long loved (by me anyway) show Dead Like Me. And with that role, it's easier to tell it's her, but she still looked very different being that the character was all Gothic and Emo.
SophiaD
"The Dive From Clausen's Pier." Sean was terrific, even as the "bad guy" love interest. Michelle Trachtenberg gave a rather disconnected performance, in fact, one reviewer described her as "on quaaludes."
chunkyrice13
Jewel was also in the unaired episodes of Wonderfalls, as the evil fiance. Is it possible she is a showkiller?
KernelM
I've seen Widow on the Hill, The Dive From Clausen's Pier, and the Poseidon Adventure TV remake. Oy. The things I do for my fandom.

No. Fox killed that show like they kill all their good shows by not promoting it.

Last night was good for the cast. Morena Baccarin was on The O.C. and Christina Hendricks (Saffron) had a large part on Without a Trace. Adam will be on Bones next week. Gina Torres was on The Shield a couple of weeks ago and will be returning to for the 100th episode of Alias. I believe on April 26th.

Jewel Staite was on practically everything I watched as a kid. Flash Forward, Space Cases, Higher Ground, Honey I Shrunk the Kids...the list goes on. I think my favourite was Flash Forward. I think Becca/Tucker may have been my first ship.

Am I right in thinking last night was Morena's last on The O.C.? Because if so, I'm back to not watching anymore. Her role was pretty inconsequential anyway.
skripka2
Christina Hendricks was lovely on Without a Trace.

Dive from Claussen's Pier: Sean describes it as "the Lifetime movie where I got to have lots of tastefully lighted sex with Michelle Trachtenberg." He also makes funny hand motions when he talks about "breathing through the Lifetime moment." It's cute and adorable and makes me want to give him lots of cookies.

Photos of Nathan from the Slither premiere.

Is Nathan actually wearing a tasteful shirt? What happened to him? He must have been replaced by a pod person.

Where did you see this? Pretty please?

Don't miss these too! Non-pro, but scroll to near the end for Nathany and Jossy goodness.

I saw it at a viewing of his independent movie, "Living Til The End," and sadly, I forgot that my camera had a video function, or I would have filmed some of it.

My partner-in-crime's reports are here and here.

If you can rent the movie through Netflix, do it for Sean's acting at least. He does a great job. Most of the storyline is pretty good, although I have issues with the cinematography and some of the plot, too. But the acting is excellent! (um. Not DFCP. LTTE is the good acting.)
SophiaD
skripka2 - thank you SO MUCH for posting that! It was almost as good as being there. Not quite, but almost.

Off to Amazon to buy LTTE....

Thanks for sharing the pretty gorrum gorgeous photos of Nathan. Yummy.

I go through periods where I don't really find Nathan attractive and then pictures like this come along and I can't imagine what I was ever thinking.
kieyra
Jewel Staite had a guest spot in an episode of this season's Stargate:Atlantis. Sadly, they had her in full 'wraith' makeup the entire time and it was all but impossible to tell it was her...so I'm not sure why they bothered hiring her.
SophiaD
Turns out LTTE won't be available for commercial sales until later this spring... (sigh)

So, I am talking to a guy I work with who I had gotten addicted to Buffy and Angel but he had preceded me into Firefly and I told him that the same actor (Adam Baldwin) had played both Jayne and Hamilton (on Angel)and he just couldn't beleive me. He thought about it for a moment and went "Oh my God" I didn't even recognize him. I then tried to to tell him he had played the titular role (Jayne would laught at that) role in My Bodyguard but he was too young to have ever seen that. I work with children.
Zoned Out
David Krumholtz (Mr. Universe) is now one of the main stars of one of my favorite shows, Numb3rs, and while I like his character on the show, he's not my favorite (Rob Morrow, mmmmm).
DMike
Morena and Gina reprised their roles in the latest Justice League Unlimited tonight as the Black Canary and Vixen. Their characters were part of a caged girlfight without the T&A-fest.

Who is it that's casting genre actors as voice talent on JLU? I swear, half of Firefly has appeared on JLU.

I feel your pain. "Gargantua" is a very bad movie more than worth sitting through, because it is chock full of scene after scene of Adam Baldwin. Just after the show was canceled, I used to watch that Jackie Chan cartoon just so I could hear his voice.

I'm trying to gather a Firefly collection on my Tivo, balancing my available space with stuff I actually want to watch. Right now, I've got Nathan on Miss Match, Summer on Cold Case, Jewel on The X-Files, Sean on Ghost Whisperer, Alan on Fraser, Adam on The Inside, Gina on Angel, Morena on The O.C., and Christina on Without a Trace.

I've had Mark Sheppard before from when he was on Jake 2.0 and Ron Glass, but I deleted them. Ron's done a lot of sitcom work in the last few years, but nothing I can barely stand to watch once, much less more than once. I'll probably end up deleting Christina for space, but it was a great role for her. I watched Kevin Hill all last year, and while I enjoyed the show I missed seeing the more fiery aspects of her acting range. She played something of a mousy character, if you can imagine. (I still don't understand how a show with both Christina Hendricks and Taye Diggs gets canceled anyway. Is that nuts or what?)
vampirefan
Adam Baldwin will be on the March 15th episode of Bones.

Can't wait!

Also, Mark Sheppard has been on 2 episodes of Medium and he did a great and creepy job! (The first ep he was in, he only had a very small part in the show opening. He did a appear a bit more in the second episde he appeared in which was a continuation of the characheter he played in the first ep.)

Gina Torres has a role in the FOX pilot of Primary. From The Futon Critic:
PRIMARY (FOX) - Gina Torres (Anna Espinosa on "Alias") and Michael Cudlitz (Bob Hudson on "Prison Break") have both been cast in the drama pilot, about male (Ron Livingston) and female (Rosemarie DeWitt) hostage negotiators who balance their budding relationship and their job. Torres is set as the head of the Los Angeles Crisis Negotiation Unit while Cudlitz will play the head of the S.W.A.T. team. Raquel Alessi also stars in the 20th Century Fox Television-based hour, which Tim Story is directing from a scipt by creator Craig Silverstein.
mollyann
Hmm. I'm happy for Gina that she has a new job, but I'm a little upset FOX has her in its evil clutches once again.
JerseyGirl291
I'm guess I'm watching Bones for the first time tonight. I love to support my Firelfy actors, even though it pains me to watch another Fox show.
Ghost Dog
Hmmmm, no mention of Gina's appearance on The Shield last night? And the nakedness? It was fairly spectacular.
BitchySmurf
Adam Baldwin will be on the March 15th episode of Bones.

Yes I actually suffered through "Bones" for Jayne tonight. It was bizarre. I kept wondeirng why Jayne was using that bitty gun instead of Vera and how come Angel was outside in the daytime. But at least Adam's getting work! Hee.
jadeblue
Summer in a SciFi movie:
And on Saturday, April 22, at 9:00/8:00c, look for "Mammoth": "Ten thousand years ago, we hunted it into extinction. Now it's back, and it's hunting us. Vincent Ventresca (The Invisible Man, SCI FI Pictures' Larva), Summer Glau (Firefly, Serenity) and Tom Skerrit (Alien, Top Gun) star in this rampaging tale of interspecies revenge." -- Futon Critic

Also, I was watching Sleepover, that teeny-bopper movie (don't ask) and Summer had a brief scene.

I haven't watched the Adam episode of Bones yet. I am actually looking forward to it.
Astral Weeks

Gorram right it was.

I may be gay and all, but looking at that nekkid ass picture just makes me realize how damn lucky Laurence Fishburne is to be married to her. That there's a warrior woman's tucchus!

So, I was just flipping through the channels and lo and behold there's Nathan Fillion in a pretty bad movie on Lifetime--Water's Edge. Nathan's not bad, but the movie. . .yeah, it's bad. It's on right now for anyone interested. It's currently 1248 AM EST. I don't know when the movie goes off, though.
theobviouschild
Ooo! Thank you, prodigalchicken! It's pretty pathetic that I'm willing to sit through a Lifetime movie, just to enjoy the pretty.
prodigalchicken
theobviouschild, you're welcome. And don't feel pathetic. I bought 28 Days just for Alan Tudyk. Thankfully, he was hilarious in it.
vampirefan
There's another movie that Nathan Fillion was in that was pretty good: "Outing Riley" aka "Doubting Riley". I don't think it's available on DVD yet, but some some of us browncoats went to go see that movie when it played in a film festival in Chicago. I enjoyed it and Nathan was very good in it.
sailorwind
I bought 28 Days just for Alan Tudyk.

How pathetic am I that I own that movie, have watched it a least a dozen times, and never until you posted that realized that Gerheart is played by Alan Tudyk? I'm an idiot.
prodigalchicken
sailorwind! How could you not know that was Alan Tudyk!? Actually, I know how. He's a chameleon. I know there are probably a lot of people who don't recognize him from one role to the next. That's my theory as to why he isn't as well known as he should be. He's just too damn good. He really steals the show in 28 Days (and in a lot of other things he's been in).
sailorwind
I have no idea! I blame it on the glasses. And the spiky hair. And the German accent. And the tight little shirts. Damn, he's hysterical in that movie! I now have the end scene repeating on a loop in my head where Sandra Bullock runs into him in the plant shop and he's yelling at the clerk that the plant was defective, there's no way he killed that plant while he holds his dog on a leash and starts crying about how he's never going to get to have sex.

In my defense, I did recognize him in First Knight. [/hides in corner]
prodigalchicken
If I hadn't purposely went out to buy 28 Days because I had read he was in it, I probably wouldn't have known it was him either, so get out of that corner. I also bought A Knight's Tale just because he's in it. I do enjoy that movie a lot, though. There are couple of versions of the DVD available. I ended up with one that had commentary from the director and Paul Bettney. They referred to Alan as "brilliant" more than once. If you listen to the commentary on 28 Days, you'll find out that the funniest of Alan's lines were ones that he came up with himself. The one where he's going on and on about the forks in the road and the ladels, that was Alan's. And the "look at my package", was also Alan's. They were shooting that scene and he just happened to look down, notice that his package was on full display, point at it and say, "look at my package!" They decided it was hilarious and left it in the movie. In A Knight's Tale, he also came up with the "your entrails will be your extrails" bit while he was auditioning.
Lud
Caught a few moments of Nathan in that Lifetime movie. Oh boy. baaaaaaad. But I just happened to see Adam in The Patriot. His little movie moment when he was told to murder civilians was quite good. He had me guessing if he would follow orders. His face revealed much as he did as he was told.
prodigalchicken
Alan Tudyk's new pilot has been given a new name. It was called "In the Shadow of the Law" after the book it is being based on. That's been shortened to the less clunky "Capitol Law" and is being described as the West Wing with lawyers. Frank Langella has also been added to the cast.
sailorwind
Is Alan Tudyk playing a lawyer? Cause I just can't see that...
prodigalchicken
He's playing a former Supreme Court clerk/wunderkind, Walker Eliot( I'm just guessing from the book at who he's playing, so this could be wrong). He's a lawyer, but he doesn't actually try cases. He's more into the research side of the business, and he's pretty obsessisive, sometimes this could be an obsession with the law, and sometimes about downloading music from the internet while trying to figure how to bill the most hours out of clients. I'm almost finished with the book, and if he's playing Walker Eliot, then he's playing a pretty interesting character. I don't know how to feel about Eliot. He's likeable, yet also a jerk to some degree. He's a conflicted guy. Could be interesting to watch.

Edited because I know so little about law
jazmyne
The other night, while I was watching "Bones" the way I usually watch tv (while simultaneously chatting online with my best friend and working on a movie database) mrjaz said to me, "You have to look at this guy?" Without looking up, I said, "Why? Because it's Adam Baldwin, or because he's obviously the killer?" He answered, "Because he's obviously the...wait- that's Adam Baldwin? Hey, yeah!"

And he says I'm the one who's not paying attention...
vampirefan
Also, on Bones, there was a shout-out to Kitchen Confidential. The date that Brennan makes asks her to meet him at Nolita's and the exterior shot of the restaurant is the same one used in Kitchen Confidential.

The only connection to the cast is the fact that Nick Brendan was in KC.
inalasahl
Saw Inside Man yesterday: Chiwetel Ejiofor was in it. He plays Denzel Washington's partner, and he's all skinny and bantering. No somberness at all. It was weird! I really liked the movie, though. Oddly enough, it had these flash forwards that had the same blurry over-exposed look as the classroom scenes in the BDM.
longtimelurker
Alan Tudyk was also the Pirate guy in 'DodgeBall' with Vince Vaughn & Ben Stiller
skripka2
Ran in to Mark Sheppard (Badger) on a CSI episode (he was a semi-slimy modelling agent) and on a horror/scifi thing (remake?) with Judd Nelson, Lost Voyage. Worth mentioning because it was all the same weekend.
sailorwind
Heh. That makes it sound like you were on set for those eps and literally bumped into him.
