Bill Lawrence is nothing short of genius when it comes to creating a truly unique show. And he's not alone when it comes to producing such a funny comedy. All the staff are equally as witty and funny as are the cast in front of the cameras. Show love to the puppeteers!

If you like Scrubs I highly recommend you seek out the new Clone High DVD by a lot of the same people (creative team and actors).

Bill Lawrence is so incredibly young-looking. I looked him up on IMDb and he is nearly 40, but could easily pass for young 20s with that baby face. He seems like a really cool, easygoing guy.

There's a new
new video blog over at IGN FilmForce called "My Parking Tour Lot" where we see how they filmed Zach fall into the water and reappear in "My Way Home". They also talked about Sasha, everyone's favourite scooter (or at least JD's fav)

I was debating whether I should post this on the Media thread, but I decided it's better here since it's about the Crew:
There's a new Trivia Contest over at IGN Film Force with the crew of Scrubs This one's reheHEHEally hard -- as soon as Mike Schwartz said he doesn't count I gave up :D. Good luck if you guys get it!

I love the guy for his "No Assholes" policy. The entire cast and crew lives and breathes it and it just makes me want to be a part of their posse all that more.

A few weeks ago, I read the book "Complications: A Surgeon's Notes on an Imperfect Practice" by Atul Gawande. (According to Bill Lawrence, that was the writers' homework before season 2.) It was an excellent book -- almost a memoir, with interesting and touching stories about strange medical conditions and awesome patients. I can definitely see where Scrubs drew influence in developing the characters.
Has anyone else read it?

Oooooh! Watch this new pilot from Bill Lawrence and the creator of Family Guy -- it's called "Nobody's Watching". Dude, I'd totally watch this.

Rain thanks for digging that up! Because seriously, that show (and though I used this word way too many times) was genius! Bill Lawrence is a genius! I think saw a lot of myself in those two characters..I'm not sure if it's a sad thing or a good thing heh. I just about lost it when Will said the only "father figures" he looked up to was -- and then you saw the classic sitcom dads -- UNCLE PHIL!
My instead thought was that the show's protagonist's nitpicks and hatred of bad sitcoms was PERFECT for TWoP!
Usually I get sick of "behind the scenes" shows, since they're becoming a genre of its own...yet this one, they figured out a way to skewer all that in classic Bill Lawrence fashion. Like having live audience moments intercut with real moments (more Scrubs touches). And you can't have a show of Billy's without having BFF love-fest characters huh? You can even tell they used Scrubs' stock music during transitions.
I think this was the show Randall Winston (producer on Scrubs) was talking about in one of the IGN video blogs a while back and didn't get picked up. (I'm thinking CW merger as one reason; and the plethora of "behind the scenes" shows that's about to come next season)
"Billy" from BSG as Will and "Kellerman" from Prison Break as Jeff Tucker (zucker? hehe), what's not to like about this pilot?

I really loved the pilot. Since the WB is no more, the jokes about the wardrobe, etc. would kinda fall flat on the CW, at least for the first season it's in existence. skillz, I noticed the Scrubs stock music too. Love! Love, love, LOVE! Oh, and rebuilding the Central Perk set, complete with James Michael Tyler as Gunther? Simply brilliant.

The show was taped in 04/05. Did it get passed up? Is it still a possibility?
I loved the pilot! I was hooked after the boys called out the crapfest sitcoms. Plus, a hot girl has boobies. Boobies = ratings. The show has (had?) a great plot. Would've made a great addition to the CW.
Best. Title sequence. Ever. "Slick, very funny, explanatory title sequence to come, if show is picked up."
And Dr. Zeltzer as a studio exec. Love it.

Ya'll are going to throw things at me, but- I liked the idea of the show- and I thought some of it was very clever (the relationship between the two characters, for instance, and the 'no dad' running joke), but one thing I was bothered by was that the way the actors were conversing and interacting didn't change that much between when they were on the studio set with the live audience and filming the documentary off the set without the audience. The whole time, the dialogue and the interactions seemed to be the way it would be in front of a live studio audience (read: slightly exaggerated). Being a huge fan of both The Office and Arrested Development (both documentary-style shows), I think what would really make this sitcom kick-ass would be if the interaction between the two characters was completely different when in front of an audience and when being filmed by a documentary crew without one- the juxtaposition would be really interesting and would highlight the differences between the two styles of sitcom as well as the difference between being in front of a huge group of people and being by yourself in front of a camera crew. I think that may have been what they were going for, but I didn't get the 'documentary' vibe as strongly as I should have when the audience was gone. I love Bill Lawrence, though, and would watch anything he created.
Had to voice my opinion- even if I'm going to get reamed (this is 'Television Without Pity,' right?).
Loved the guy from Scrubs' (Dr. Zeltzer's) inability to look away from the camera-so funny.

Very good point,
hayds. I wonder if they would change the POV if the show was picked up. For example, the boy-BFF love would stick around off-camera, but there would be more goofiness on-camera. I kinda like the way they wrote it, though -- these kids are brand-new in Hollywood, and they're just being themselves. Maybe after they've been there a while their attitudes towards the industry will change. Hmm.

Hey,
Nobody's Watching is
showing signs of life!! (You might need to register).
In the first week that "Nobody's Watching" appeared on YouTube, it was not a featured video and attracted only about 4,000 viewings. But the reaction was powerfully positive from those who saw it, prompting the site to begin featuring it. Then the viewings exploded.
Even television executives have been downloading it. Ms. Bromstad said that the Comedy Central channel called last week and asked for a DVD of the pilot, and that ABC had also expressed interest.
But NBC retains a first shot at the show. Mr. Lawrence said that Mr. Reilly had called from his vacation in Mexico last week and said he wanted to take another look. The show's offbeat characters and rapid-fire dialogue might make it an ideal partner for another comedy on NBC, Ms. Bromstad said, a show the network has struggled to find a match for: Mr. Lawrence's "Scrubs."
Could it happen? Could a dead network show be revived because of the power of individuals supporting it on the Internet?
Ms. Bromstad was cautious in her prediction. "I think it will be interesting to find out," she said.

NBC orders scripts of "Nobody's Watching"! From
TVGuideAusiello just IM'd me live from the TCA Summer Press Tour that NBC entertainment president Kevin Reilly has ordered six scripts of Nobody's Watching, a quirky 2005 WB comedy pilot that recently resurfaced on YouTube.com and concerns two young sitcom fans who wind up on a reality show.
As much as I hate NBC and would rather see it elsewhere, I'm glad the show at least has a chance.

Holy shit... 'all hail the wonders of YouTube'
In case anyone's interested, on
Blog #38 "My Second Mailbag", skip to near the end, around the 13min mark, Randall Winston talks about other projects that they worked on (one them being Nobody's Watching). I'd say thank whoever that leaked the bootleg huh.
Here's more from
Alan Sepinwall over at NJ.comSince the pilot was produced by NBC/Universal, and since "Watching" star Paul Campbell had a holding deal with NBC, that network seemed to have the inside track. And this morning, Reilly was almost beaming as he announced that they had commissioned Lawrence, Garret Donovan and Neil Goldman to write six new scripts and begin producing a number of webisodes to keep the YouTube interest going. If the show goes to series, the plan would be to have the TV show and the web content feed off each other.
Lawrence, Campbell and co-star Tarran Killam will be here tomorrow, no doubt deservedly pleased with themselves.

Yea, now NBC's 'sitcom-king' status might be gaining back it's throne somewhat after several years down the tubes. They've got Office, MNiE, Scrubs and this could possibly be something unique and special... that's if they don't screw up by changing its timeslot week after week.
I'm just going to credit Bill Lawrence for saving NBC heh. And I read somewhere that NBC has a partnership deal with YouTube a couple months ago, so they really took a proactive approach to this viral site and possibilities.

Maybe now the other networks won't go getting all upset when someone downloads something they didn't want let out. For instance ABC made them take down a spoof of Grey's Anatomy that was shown at the ABC upfronts in May. My thought was "Why? This is the best way to promote the show. Especially now that it's moving opposite CSI in the fall."
NBC was smart here and used YouTube to their advantage.
Did hell just freeze over? Cause I just said that NBC was smart. Scary huh?

I honestly have no qualms after the piss poor job FOX did with AD. I guess they could be treated better, but I had a feeling if they ended up on ABC they would have been canned after 13 eps in favor of According to Jim or something.

Looks like Bill Lawrence is going to make his

Fletch Won, possibly with Zach Braff in the title role. Braff had been considered for the role previously when Kevin Smith was on the project.
