Discuss any quips or wardrobe related matters of our favoruite Greek detective.
Capt. Mnemo
Alas, no quips or hair/wardrobe related comments. I am wondering what the explanation is for Stella speaking Greek when (based on her name) she's Italian and apparently grew up in an orphanage or some other version of The System in New York.

An explanation besides that Melina K is Greek and completely awesome about it.

I wanna know how they keep Stella's hair from shedding all over the crime scene.
Niuxita
Aww, it seems I'm the only one around here that is completely in love with Stella's hair. It's just so curly and perfect. I don't know, I just have a thing for curly hair. I wish I could make my hair look like that.
Lillywhite
I read her bio somewhere and it said that she's actually half Greek/half Italian, and when she was a tyke she was fascinated by her Greek heritage and taught herself Greek, and learned all she could about the culture. I think this might be up at CBS.com.

I'm fascinated by Stella's past. Pity they don't delve on it at all. I'd love to see an episode where it's explored more.

I like her hair, but I would hate, hate, hate to have it. Like kids. Cute on other people, but God, no, not for me.
Happy Harpy
I suffer from an aggravated girl crush as far as Stella is concerned. If they were to ruin this character, I would tune out immediately in spite of my Mac, Flack and Hawkes respective infatuations.

She is good at her job, and the valuable boss considers her as competent.

She is a beautiful woman, and it doesn't overshadow the fact that she is good at her job. When did this happen since Dana Scully is off the air?

I had seen the tank top remarks here before watching the season two first episodes and I was expecting something worse. I didn't find her wardrobe shocking. It isn't Paris Hilton skanky fashion; plus, to me, all is in the attitude, and Stella Bonasera's attitude says "I am a good investigator, period". But again, my girl crush might involve a bias.

Stella is positive, overall. I adored the dialogue between Stella and Mac in the early first season, where he tells her not to give up, and she answers cheerfully that she never gives up (forgive me for the paraphrases: I have to deduce the original dialogues from the French version). Again, kudos to the writers: no excessive anvil. Do I have to add "yet" as a disclaimer? Not if the writers are as clever as they seem for now...

And yet, word kellyee. I asked myself the same about the curly hair/crime scene issue...

Edited because blatant slaughter of English language is not good
kellyee
My sister has hair like Melina K. Trust me, you don't want her hair. It looks perfect because she has an army of hair stylists to keep fixing it. With hair like that, you can't even run a brush through it without an entire bottle of conditioner.
wordwolf
I had hair like that, lo these many years ago. I say "had" because I couldn't stand the sheer amount of work involved in maintenance, and now have it cut to a nice, short, wooly little cap. (Which leads me to observe: The single greatest departure from reality in this show - and all the CSIs, for that matter - is how our heroes are constantly shown processing evidence / working crime scenes with uncovered hair, and sifting through garbage / examining ripe bodies without wearing masks!) But I must admit that the lovely Melina wears it way better than I did...

I just watched Officer Blue with one of my all-time favorite Stella scenes: when she marches into Mac's office with a ginormous gun and tells him off and all he can do is stare at her, speechless. Hee! Good times.
Lillywhite
Dude, that was hot. I liked when she was putting it together with this super determined look on her face. Yeah, fuck the horse!

She had the Cleavage of Doom, too.

I have hair like Melina K's (and I have worn it much longer than hers), and generally, if you put about a ton and a half of curl-managing product in and don't touch it under any circumstances, it won't shed too badly.
That said, most people would think to cover their curly mane when working a crime scene, but this is TV.

Oh a world of word. I mean seriously if I can go from drooling over Hawkes, Danny, and Flack to cheering the beautiful and dangerous detective then she rocks.

Brought over from the episode thread:
I've got a bad feeling about Stella and Drew the parachute dude. He'll end up being a psycho killer, don't ya think?

My God, I really hope not. I think Stella has done her time with Psycho Killer Boyfriends. But this guy is exhibiting all the typical symptoms of a stalker. Not really sure where TPTB are going to go with this one.

If this one turns out to be a psycho too, I think Stella should just hang it up and become the first CSI nun.

I agree. Stella has more than earned a nice guy. Or at least a nice guy she can date. Mac might be nice, but he doesn't count

I wonder if he couldn't be connected to another psycho-killer. I saw a MK interview somewhere saying that Stella would be embroiled in a revenge storyline. So I wonder if Stalker boy isn't connected to Frankie, or to the 333 guy? Maybe he's also just a red-herring they set.
Well, anyway, I don't like him. She was victim of his violence, but I didn't consider that Stella was "victimized" by Frankie as his girlfriend, in the sense that she gave him his walking papers when he mistreated her (I loved what she said to him about the sculpture). She dated a guy who seemed normal, dumped him when he proved weird, and couldn't imagine he would attack her nor prevent it. So accepting to be psychologically "bullied" by Stalker boy or accepting to date him when he showed weird streaks seems quite out of character for her.
If they showed her as still really traumatized during her last conversation about it with Mac, I would have gotten that she could be vulnerable enough to fall for the same kind of guy (like abused women who don't get the necessary psychological support) but she sounded over it. I'm bad at nitpicking and improbable plots don't bother me -too much- yet I'm really keen on character development and unless they correct it or explain it later, this does bother me.

Mac might be nice, but he doesn't count

I like the idea of Stella with Mac. Not now, and not front and center. I really love them as friends, and usually I don't like when platonic friends become a couple. They took me by surprise, argh. I did notice some chemistry from the start but I tried to ignore it. I didn't think I'd like to see more than this enjoyable partnership and friendship. It is so rare on TV to see a man and a woman comfortable with each other, trusting each other, without sex or romantic feelings involved. But I realized when Frankie and then Peyton came on board that if I don't necessarily want Mac and Stella together, I simply don't want to see them with someone else (less when I don't like the someone in question, LOL).

I'd say the Mac and Stella thing is similar to Gibbs and Abby on NCIS. They have a level of comfort with each other where they perhaps allow the other a little more wriggle room if you will. I mean look at Hung Out to Dry. Mac was focused on the hammer from the other case. And while the others might have noticed, and even questioned him about it. Stella was the only one he let see his vunerability.

I agree with you on this. It really is nice to see them portray a strong male/female friendship without turning it into a romantic pairing. Yet I find I do like that the possibility exists that they might become romantic because you can see their chemistry and their connection leading me to think they would be a strong couple. However, I don't want them to be together -- at least not yet. Other than the fact that TPTB would probably feel the need to put all sorts of "dramatic" obstacles in their path, it is such a good portrayal of partnership and friendship as it is. I don't actually mind them dating others as long as it is someone I can tolerate on my screen (so it is good that Peyton is gone :)

I was more into a stella/flack type pairing. But, anybody is better with Mac and Flack then Peyton and Devon.

If I had a choice, I would choose Mac/Stella, but I don't think that I would mind Stella/Flack. Might be interesting. And I mostly agree that anyone would be better for Mac than Peyton with one exception - Lindsay. I have seen other people who think that would be a good pair (Mac/Lindsay) and they are entitled to feel that way (obviously) but I honestly think if they had gone that way, I would have stopped watching this show completely.
xtreme
It could be far worse. It could be a Stella/Peyton pairing. Although I have to admit I can't see that ever working.

Oh, I suppose I'll have to be the one to do it, then. Okay, here goes.

Stellaaaaaaa! STELLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

...

Stellaaaaaaaaaa... STELL-LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! .... STELLLL-LLAAAAAA![/ElaineBenes]

Okay, thank god I got that out of my system.

Now, onto She Of The Wonderful Hair. I love SOTWH. She's hot, she's smart, she's a kickass detective and some of her interregation scenes have rocked my world. I love that she's tough, not one to back down, but she's generally a friendly, caring person. Kind of like the mama bear of the lab (or maybe big sister, even to Mac, who's older than her), and she doesn't suffer fools gladly (like with Frankie). She's got a lot of depth and layers to her personality that I love.

Plus, I'm part-Greek like she is, so, y'know, she gets more awesome points for that. Plus, Melina has been an awesome actress the whole time I've watched her on this show (All Access was frickin' great). Too bad she has such shit luck with men (hear, hear). Although, really, as hot as Drew was (psycho stalker or no, I'd hit that), he was kinda creepy, and what with the Frankie situation and all (man, I loved All Access for that reason. The Kid Rock storyline? Bah. it was all about Stella vs. Frankie for me), you'd think that not only would Stella be extra-cautious around him, but that Mac would've had more brains than to say "go for it". Oh well. Don't give up, Greek Goddess of Curls! (I'd love to see her with Mac, honestly, but... it'd kind of smack of fanfic, where everyone on the team has to be paired up with someone.)

I just watched Officer Blue with one of my all-time favorite Stella scenes: when she marches into Mac's office with a ginormous gun and tells him off and all he can do is stare at her, speechless.

I haven't yet seen season 1 at all (minus the pilot), but goddamn, I cannot wait to see this episode now after reading that description. That sounds awesomely hot.

My one minor quip related to STELLAAAAAAAAA? The tops. She's a sharp dresser, and she's got the figure to pull off her outfits. But I dunno, bad enough we have Catherine, Calleigh, Alexx, and Natalia on the other two shows solving crimes with their honkers hanging out, it just seems weird that Stella's going around with her Bonaseras showing (although she manages to look pretty classy doing it, and it's T.V., so I'll give her a break).

Edited because investigational isn't quite the same word as interregation.

Word to your whole post, Tonberry Cake! Officer Blue is a great Stella episode, with a nice little Mac/Stella scene at the end (that's my ship, don't mind me). Watch Season One when you have a chance...you'll love it. The stories made sense, the writing was good, the morgue was cooler, Mac was Mac and Stella was Stella.

Her wardrobe quite often takes me out of the story. There's no doubt she can pull off those outfits and look fabulous, but how inappropriate for someone in law enforcement. Or anyone who wants to be taken seriously at her job.

But other than that, she's so beautiful...I love all her scenes just because I like to look at her. So does Mac. ;)
