There's a lot of commercials out there that have people who need to go away right now. The annoying guy selling all the household cleaning supplies, for example.
When I am Queen of the World, I fully intend to have a series of remote islands where I will banish people who annoy me. Who should be on the island for annoying people from commercials?
bettymojo

Dude. The King.
Maybe you will need two islands. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to live forever on an island with the King for company.

I thought they were only doing that where I live. Are they trying to get people to buy it by pissing them off? Like I'm gonna go, "Okay, I got it! I'm stressed! I'll buy it if you just shut the hell up already!"

I don't know if it's only a local (San Diego) ad, but there's a commercial for Maric College starring the worst actress imaginable, complaining about her jobs until her mom suggests MC. She rushes out her lines with no pauses and no inflections. It's painful, like she never acted ever before, even in a school play.
FfrauleinN
Mar 10, 2006 @ 11:16 am
That sounds like suspiciously like an ad that's airing here in Philadelphia. Maybe they just changed the name of the institution. Does the girl come in bitching about "the boutique" and her waitressing job? IIRC, she flops down on the couch and (maybe) starts taking her shoes off?

There's this red-haired woman whose name I don't know, but lately she's been in every other commercial I see. She started out in those K-Y warming lotion commercials, but then I started seeing her in an infomercial for KB Homes, and then a commercial for blinds, and on and on. I mean, I guess it's good for the actress to be so successful all of the sudden, but it's annoying to see her everywhere. She's overexposed, and I don't even know her name.

WORD to that. It's bad enough she ruined "These Boots Are Made for Walkin,' " but to make a
commercial version of the
butchered song is all kinds of wrong.
Not even Miss Piggy parodying the song makes up for this. (Yes, a parody of a rewrite of a cover. Somebody make it stop!)

I am really tired of seeing the Raisin Bran Crunch commercials. The first two or so were a bit funny, but they have ran these series of ads into the ground. Johnson, his boss, and the rest of that office gang can all just bite me.

I just hate the crunching sound in those. Alright, I have to hear that kind of thing when I eat crunchy stuff, that doesn't mean I want to hear it magnified, in my face, on the TV screen. I'll never 'get' ads thinking gross eating/drinking noises whet someone's appetite.
Local ads can have really annoying pitchmen/women sometimes. In my region, there's this grating "My Bob's" guy, a little guy with an oval, somewhat balding head and scraggly beard who has the worst nails-on-the-chalkboard voice ever, which he emphasizes as he talks. As if that wasn't enough (and, by gosh, don't you think it ought to be?), they occasionally do faux-clever/funny animated furnature bits and things of that ilk that only adds to the weird/annoying vibe.
Lately, a woman shares the ads with Bob. Sometimes she talks like he does, sometimes she's okay. Sometimes ads with just her on them are a relief. But, really, he needs to go. Away.

How has no one mentioned Kirstie Alley and her damned Jenny Craig commercials? They're annoying, and I fucking can't stand her. Plus her voice. Her horrible, grating voice. (They're not as bad as her Pier One commercials, but still.)
And I hate the celebrity Neutrogena ads, even when they're celebrities I like. I just find them irritating for some reason. And they usually feature people I can't stand (Halle Berry, Mischa Barton), which doesn't help.

I hate the commercials for the private colleges. Bryman College, Sprott-Shaw, blah blah blah. They have the most annoying female actresses who cannot act to save their lives and the plotline is always the same.

I really hate the ultra-helpful smiling call-center people who gush to the camera about how happy they are to help. I've worked in call-centers most of my adult life. Usually we're throwing things, pounding on the desks, and hissing to the people next to us "You won't believe how batshit crazy THAT one was!" I just really like realism in my commercials, darn it.

Yes, I have an issue with that too. It's impossible to take any pitch person seriously when you remember them as the wife who likes to get freaky with the K-Y. It defeats the purpose of the ad when I see the person as a paid shill.
The same goes for the guy with the curly brown hair who's appeared in everything from dog food commercials to chewing gum ads.

David Spade is so cringeworthy in the "Capital One" ads that I imagine he's losing them business. Indeed, they seem to be phasing him out in favor of the 'genius' who can't get any good rewards so he takes his family for Christmas with the grandparents in the summer, and goes skiing when there's no snow on the ground.
Which, come to think of it, is no improvement, really...

I laughed so hard my stomach hurts now. I generally don't recognize commercial actors, but occasionally I will, and it's always a little disconcerting. And K-Y lady always reminded me of someone. Now I know I've just seen her everywhere. I wish there was an imdb-type site for commercial actors, just for those moments.
The weirdest one for me was seeing Jenny Calendar from
Buffy in a McDonald's commercial. And there was this one ad for babies "conceived using such-and-such." Well, that's a fine coincidence that one of those babies is a commercial actor, 'cause he was the funny-looking baby from the GAP ad that ran for, like, a year.

The Ditech guy.
Wasn't he on News Radio, or he looks like a guy on News Radio?
I have a new one : That blonde angel in the Philadelphia Cream Cheese ads (the newer ones where the brunette one consols the blonde one) . My reason? It's totally petty, but my reason for not liking her is she looks like my best guy online friend who I have a crush on's girlfriend. It's a stupid reason, I know but I have to
look away from the tv whenever one of these ads comes on, or I'll I dunno, start crying.
Someone brought up Bell South Guy on page 1. Eww. Direct TV shows those ads all the time and in this part of VA you can't even get Bell South!
I remember during the last season of Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central would show this ad 24/7 with this comedian auditioning and he was doing this stupid thing with a mirror or some sort of tv screen and he was saying, "
take my wiiifee pplleeeasse!" I think I brought this up 2 years ago (or maybe even last year) in the old commercial thread, but he's still stuck in my head!
