Apparently before the whole Steroid thing broke, ESPN announced that they will air a new show called "Bonds on Bonds". This will be a look at his life while he is attempting to break the home run record. No news of cancellation yet, so I think that it will still go on. Anyone else have any thoughts?
I know I have plenty, but I would like to hear what someone else thinks.

He tried to get some sympathy be visiting his father's grave and by crying at the end of the episode.
But looking at him in his rookie year and looking at him today ... good God almighty! Show someone who's not a baseball fan a photo of 1986 Bonds and a photo of 2006 Bonds and that person would swear the photos were of two different people.

Dang I wanted to see that. Please post here ahead of time if you see a reapeat on> I checked the on screen guide for the next several days and didn't find it. Also, what is the regular time slot and is it on ESPN or 2?

Tuesday 7 (Eastern) on ESPN seems to be the regular slot now. I Tivo'd the first episode, but I haven't watched it yet. I know ESPN's Original Entertainment department is separate from the news department, but I have mixed feelings about the potential conflicts of interest here, especially for someone like Bonds who has a reputation for manipulating the media.
mollyanna, according to the Tivo guide, the first episode is scheduled to re-air at 1 a.m. on Sunday on ESPN2. Sometimes ESPN's late night airings don't match what's scheduled, but it's worth a shot if you want to see it.

Well. That was interesting.
I am lifelong Dodger fan, so I have been hating him for a long time anyway. When all the steroid stuff came out, it just added fuel to the fire (obviously not just for him, but for McGuire, Palmeiro, et al. as well).
The thing that kills me is he does seem like a smart guy, a decent guy. Especially when they showed the clips of him from back in the day when he was just a little dude. Fast forward to now, when he is a cheater, an abuser, a crybaby. Where did it all go wrong?
I think the show is now kinda irrelevant, considering all the stuff going on with the new book. But as I will watch pretty much anything having to do with baseball...

Lots of luck finding it again with the screwed up way ESPN runs its schedules. Nothing is on those channels when it's supposed to be on. For example, the rerun of Bonds on Bondsis on ESPN2 right now as I type this (midnight-1 AM, EDT) but a show called Madden Nation is supposed to be on.
And over on ESPN Baseball Tonight is on in NBA Fastbreak's timeslot.
God, I hate those idiots at ESPN.

I'm probably extremely biased because I'm a Giants fan, but he seemed to come across as sincere. I thought they tried to cram a lot into one episode, even though it was an hour, and next week's looks like its only a 1/2 hour. We'll see what they come up with for next week.
I started cracking up during the promo for next week's show when the guy in the car responds to the TRADE BARRY billboard with "I almost crashed my car! I was about to call the mayor's office!" I want to hear more from that guy. I also loved the part where he was reading GQ and commenting on the other hated athletes.

Lots of people are speculating that the "syringe" thrown at him on the field on opening day was a setup. It
does make sense, why would he even go over and pick it up if he didn't know what it was? I can't stand his 'poor me' attempts, every interview he does now days is in that little boy I'm about to cry poor me voice. Ugh. He's been an asshole his entire career and in the last few years he tries to come across as this humble guy who everyone is mean to. Ugh. Bitch please. Shut it.

Thanks!
The Trade Barry billboard is a Topps baseball card promo. Unfortunately it just adds fuel to Barry's 'poor me' schtick.

I thought the show was pretty interesting. Is there a lot of set-ups going on? Yes but I didn't expect any different. Bonds, like Notre Dame, is a love him or hate him type of person, there is no in between. I think it will remain interesting but I'm not sure it is appointment television. I'll catch it when I can andsee what happens.

I have feelings about Barry certainly. I am still not over the "We ruined his life" incident from last year. However, I am willing to give this a shot and see if he can cooperate with any from of media, even that which he himself sanctions. He is a very polarizing person.
But looking at him in his rookie year and looking at him today ... good God almighty! Show someone who's not a baseball fan a photo of 1986 Bonds and a photo of 2006 Bonds and that person would swear the photos were of two different people.
I like to think of it as the 1986 Barry was eaten by the 2006 Barry.

I had to crack up when he started crying and they kicked in 'Drive Slow' (or the song it samples) in the background. Pure cheese. I like Barry. That was super corn though.

What?
The first episode was on ESPN2 at 8:00 PM last week.
The second episode was on ESPN on 7:00 PM this week.
Is the entire series going to be like this? Each episode on a different channel in a different time slot?
Should I look for the third episode on ESPN Classics at 10:00 PM next Tuesday? (Assuming it is on Tuesday next week?)

That was the only part where I liked Barry and it was the only time I have ever liked Barry. It makes me laugh to imagine Barry getting pissed off at T.O. for stealing his "Most Hated Guy in Sports" title.
Barry: "Did you see how I used my own son as a shield against the media. That's straight New Jack City baby. I'm much more hate worthy."
TO: "Oh hell no, Barry I just wrote a rap song that will ensure that the American public hates me forever. Top that."
ESPN camera operator: Please stop with the Bonds Crotch Cam. Thank you.

I continue to watch this show, not because I am interested so much in Barry Bonds, but because I can't believe how ESPN continues to allow such a poorly produced overhyped storyless show to air.
Supposedly Tollin/Robbins (the great folks who brought you the smash hit Summer Catch) is getting $2 million to produce this show. Unless 1.9 is going to Barry himself I can only figure the money is going straight into the pockets of the producers. Its horrifically shot on what looks like a DV cam(I can barely see half of the people being interviewed. Maybe they want to be anonymous) the editing is mediocre and the audio mix is a nightmare. I couldn't even hear half of what was going on tonight because the music was drowning everything else out. Add to everything else that the fact there isn't nearly enough to fill a half hour (ok we get it he's old and he has to work hard to play at his age) and this show is a a complete joke. Yes I understand there is a quick turnaround, but half of the show is archive footage it shouldn't be that hard to produce something of at least average quality.
Re-airing a best of Cold Pizza would be more entertaining than this.

This show and Barry Bonds on ESPN is such a scam. I mean they are paying him to talk and they are pushing his story it just seems wrong to me me some how.

It looks like ESPN no longer has a time slot available for Bonds. They have put the show on
hiatus. As one exec said, "He isn't hitting any home runs."

Damn!, now I'm sorry this show was cancelled. Even Barry's lawyer thinks he
he will be indicted soon.(perjury, tax evasion, money laundering, etc.) That would have made for good reality TV. I wonder if Pedro Gomez will be doing the courthouse beat now.
