I searched three times for a thread on this show and found nothing, so my apologies if this has already been created. I tried.

Has anyone seen the 'new' (been around for awhile, just not on Nickelodeon) series about six teenagers who each have a job in a gigantic mall afterschool? I know it's mindless drivel, but I can't help but dig the animation style and characters. It's like a more grown-up version of, 'The Weekenders', which was another show I was a fan of.

The characters are as follows -

Jonesy Garcia: Jonesy's a popular, good-looking, confident and loyal guy. He's the social director of the group, but he's not the most responsible guy—in fact, he's got a knack for getting fired from EVERY job he manages to land at the mall. His interests can be summed up in two words: HOCKEY and CHICKS! But for someone who's so totally into chasing girls he's got a pretty low success rate with the ladies. There's one lady who's totally got his number, though, and that's Nikki. Jonesy loves to spar with her and their love/hate relationship could turn into romance one day. If they don't kill each other first...

Jen Masterson: Jen's a super-sweet, responsible, determined girl who just happens to be a total tomboy. Jen's known for her ability to beat almost any guy in almost any sport and she's destined to become an Olympic snowboarding champ one day. Jen's the planner of the group and her sports experience makes her a natural born leader and coach. She's quick to offer tips to her pals...even when they don't ask for them. One person who does look up to Jen and takes her advice very seriously is Caitlin, who just happens to be training to fill Jen's old gig at The Big Squeeze.

Nikki Wong: Nikki's a total original with a punk rock edge. She hates everything about "The Clones"—the girls she works with at the Khaki Barn who look alike, dress alike and talk alike—but most of all she hates that she's stuck working with them. She wouldn't be caught dead wearing anything sold at The Khaki Barn, and she's not easily sucked into trends. Nikki's plan is to graduate and travel the world, then settle down someplace far away from a suburban mall. Nikki's the reality check for all of her friends, especially Jonesy, but sometimes she just can't decide if she loves him or hates him.

Caitlin Cooke: Caitlin's a new addition to the tight group of friends. She's spoiled, but she's also sweet, and her friends can't help but love her even though she can be pretty clueless. Caitlin's a girlie-girl to the core, and she's totally boy-crazy to boot. Unfortunately, if a cute guy even LOOKS in her direction, she's bound to do something entirely embarrassing! Caitlin is better equipped to shop at the mall than she is to work at it. Unfortunately, her 'rents have forced her to find a part-time gig in an effort to teach her the value of money. She's convinced they'll let her off the hook and give her back her credit card any day now, though...

Wyatt Williams: Wyatt's the true definition of an old soul. He's so not into house parties or making out. He'd much rather do something cultural. He doesn't mind being different or uncool. He knows his day will come...eventually. Wyatt can play any song on request on his guitar. Wyatt's more well read than his pals, and since he's the 'smart' one, he should know better than to get involved in Jonesy's schemes. But, unfortunately, he's easily talked into anything Jonesy proposes because deep down he totally admires him. Wyatt works at the mall's music store in worst section possible: country music. He doesn't mind all that much, though, because he's totally crushing on his boss, Serena...who's 18!

Jude Lisowski: Jude is into living life large. If it's extreme, he's done it—or it's on his to-do list. He's always positive and mellow and his laid-back attitude is totally contagious, the perfect combo of cool, sweet and strangely confident. Jude has a super-short attention span and he'll often check out of a conversation because he's bored. The only things he takes seriously are his friends, skateboarding and his job at Stick It, where you can get different food on a stick every day. He's pretty certain this was the job he was born to have, and he doesn't want to mess it up. For some reason, Jude is the one who everyone trusts with their secrets...even though he's not very good at keeping them.

And so, like all my other threads before this, I'm sure it'll be on page 27 in a day or two. Please tell me I'm not the only one who watches this show. Please?

And if it's any consolation, I think it's imported from Canada. Woo, Canadia!

I watch it, too. Just saw the one where Jude falls in love with the massage chair...I don't know why I like it, I just do. I can't decide if I want to be Jen or Nikki.
Stinger97
Velitari, it appears that we're the only two souls on the board that watch the show, so it's up to both of us to keep this thread alive. Don't disappear on me! ;)

Last night's episode, "The Five Finger Discount," was pretty well done, though I didn't like the fact that all of the teens (barring Jen) admitted to stealing from their respective jobs. I understand Caitlin giving free lemon slushes away or even Jude giving some food away from Stick It, but I didn't like the fact that Nikki said she stole a pair of argyle socks from Khaki Barn. I think taking food from your workplace is completely different than stealing a pair of socks...one just seems more illegal than the other.

That said, Jen stealing the jacket that was uber-expensive seemed stupider than I would have thought she would have acted. Sure all of them were telling her to get even with The Penalty Box for the way she was treated, and sure Jonesy was prodding her, but stealing a jacket worth as much as they all made it out to be was ridiculous. I was glad she acknowledged the fact that what she did was extremely illegal and could end up getting her arrested.

The B-Story with Jude falling in love with the massage chair, then having Nikki and Wyatt (or was it Jonesy) try to hook him up with the book smart, eye glass wearing prudish chick, wasn't entirely awful. Some funny moments came from it, which I could appreciate. I did think it was a little risque to have Jude laying on top of the chair, while it massaged him, and then have the chair saying something along the lines of, "I live to please you." I definitely wasn't offended (television never offends), but I thought it was eyebrow raising for a Nickelodeon show.

I really enjoy this show too much for a 19 year old. But because I have a job in the mall, I can relate just a bit, minus the stealing.

ETA: My favorite quote of the episode came from Jen, upset that Jude cared less about her than his new, 'Chairfriend.'

I like this show too! It was the animation style that caught me, and I've been watching ever since. I'm not a teenager anymore, but it just cracks me up nonetheless.

I don't know how far along it is in the US, but the third season is currently airing on Teletoon here in Canada.

Stinger97, we're not alone! I liked the chair storyline better than the jacket one - I couldn't see Jen actually taking the jacket. I don't draw distinctions between the food, and the socks and the jacket, but the former is likely to only get you fired, and the latter two will get you charged. Jen hasn't struck me as the type to do that, and I was kind of disappointed that all that happened was getting stuck in the penalty box, which happens to her all of the time anyway.
I probably like the chair one because it was risque - I'm 37. What? I have a 7 year old who watches Nick all the time. I have to watch it.
I haven't seen that many of 6teen, but I loved the panda mascot one.

I admit that there is a bit of a charm the show has. I like it, I just refuse to love it because of the simple and pure fact that it's YET ANOTHER teen show from Nick, the FORMER kids network. It's this kind of "tween" drivvel that keeps me away from tv nowadays.

I've had a problem with Nickelodeon for quite some time, mostly due to the fact that its entire lineup consists of cartoons, nowadays. And while I enjoy Spongebob, love The Fairly Oddparents, and am keen on Jimmy Neutron, I'm also a big fan of classic Nick shows. If we could get a Salute Your Shorts mixed in with some Spongbob, or an episode or two of Hey Dude! on Saturday afternoons, I'd love the channel.

But we don't, which is why I just 'like' the channel. I do, however, believe that some of their current live action shows have the potential to become classics (i.e. Drake and Josh, Ned's Declassified) in the same vein as SYS and HD.

That said, I've always thought Nick has been decent in dealing with the balance of 'kid' shows and 'teen' shows. Their Snick (I refuse to call it Teen Nick) lineup on Saturday and Sundays are targeted toward teens, but the rest of their lineup seems to be targeted toward kids.

On Topic: If Nick decides to drop 6Teen, I'd love for it to move over to the Nicktoons channel.

I was thinking of starting a thread for this, but didn't think it'd get much attention.

Jen, Caitlin and Wyatt are my fav characters, or rather, their the ones that don't annoy me. I find Jen to be the most likeable, and she's really cute for a cartoon. Wyatt used to bore me, but he's growing on me. Caitlin's amusing although she's the worst friend by far. Stealing Nikki's crush and letting her think they have a date. Making Jen sick because she got the dress she wanted.

Jude kinda bugs me. The whole "Spicoli" character seems tired and outdated (especially after years of Saved By The Bell), and like Nikki and occasionaly Jonesy, I just feel that they're trying to hard to make him cool.

The funniest episode has to be the one with the guys singing Bollywood. That song cracks me up every time.

I like to refer to the new character Wayne as Jack Black, since all the writers did to differentiate between Wayne and Jack's character from High Fidelity was make him a movie snob instead of a music one.

As you can see, it hasn't.

I can appreciate Jude for what he is, mostly because I have friends like him. Actually, come to think of it, I have friends like all of the characters, which is what I think is so great about this show. They're all pretty relatable, even if you hate them.
Sandman
Wayne does look suspiciously like Jack Black. Should that be spoilered? Just in case.

This show cracks me up. I don't care if it is aimed at kids. The animation style is zippy and clever without being too heavily stylized. I like the fact all the characters are equally likely to be likeable, wrong, or clueless. There's no one who's "the good one." The dialogue is surprisingly sharp. I don't mind Jude, since his heavily "Spicoli'd" way of speaking is almost satire in itself. I especially liked Jude's eulogy of Fish. And any scene involving Nikki smacking the Clones around is a hoot. I'm a little bit surprised that the show travels as well as it does. It seems to me that there are evident specifically Canadian references - but maybe you have to know what to look for.
Aspen
I know this show is Canadian, but I can't believe they practically showed Jonesy's pubes. Eww!

And does anyone have any idea what general part of the country this mall might be? I thought it might be out east as the Leafs were briefly mentioned once, but I could be wrong.
MikeSevigny
My cousin loooooves Teletoon, and I end up watching this with him sometimes (usually at five, while I get work done and wait for Fosters to come on). It's not so bad, really. "If she had better reflexes, it could have been a snack" is getting on my nerves, though. Time for new commercials, Teletoon!

Aspen, 6Teen takes place in the Galleria Mall, wich looks an awful lot like the West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton Alberta (I one ep, they did mention The Calgary Stampede in Calgary, Alberta). wich is the worlds largest shopping center.

Agreed. Totally. And by the way, Sandman, this show, much like most everything on Nick nowadays, is specifically geared toward teenagers. And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the first time since the days of Ren And Stimpy that the word "crap" was uttered on Nickelodeon airwaves?
Aspen
Thanks, ulquiorra! That makes sense, as the Galleria Mall looks absolutely enormous. Lots of employment opportunities for Jonesy! Also I now remember from "Girlie Boys" Jude was training for a regional skating event in Vancouver.
Stinger97
So has the show been removed from Nicktoon Network's schedule? I can't find it anywhere, which completely sucks. I remember they played it during their "A - Zim" marathon, but I think that was the last time it aired. Does anyone know where I might be able to find it?
RedRabbit
I don't get Nick but it is on teletoon like every single day multiple times. *sigh* Glad I'm not alone being an adult and loving the show. It seems silly that I like this cartoon alot but the dialogue is excellent and the characters have heart. I'd say well if I was 16 again I'd be a Jen/Caitlin cross.

I hope the 6teen board hasn't been completely abandoned I'd love to talk about the show with you guys

I am completely addicted to this show. I watched it like, every day during the summer of 2006. I know I might be a LITTLE older than the target audience, but still. It cracks me up.
Sandman
I just saw a rerun of the second episode of the series (I think), "The Big Sickie", where Caitlin hadn't yet been totally, er, that is, completely integrated into the group. Nikki and she are getting on each other's nerves, in the midst of the plan to spring Jen from the Penalty Box for the day so they can all go to the amusement park in the mall. Nikki says something snarky, and Caitlin says,

Caitlin: "You know, you are totally putting the 'itch' in 'b--'"
Nikki: "Hey!"

I was more than a little surprised that they got away with this, and between that and the business with Wyatt and Jude getting ID plates to pass as paramedics, I was rolling! Nikki reads the nameplates, and Wyatt's is "John Gage" (hee!) and Jude's is "Dude, I Am Totally A Paramedic."

I'm so glad they've started airing this show on Cartoon Network. It's good to see more than the same 6 episodes they kept airing on Nick. I liked the special hour long zombie episode they aired around Halloween.

I'm 6 years removed from being '6Teen', myself, but I still enjoy this show. I can totally see little bits and pieces of me and my high school friends in all the characters.
Stinger97
Damn, I'm glad I checked the thread! I had no idea that the show had been picked up by CN, but that's completely awesome. I guess with the success of Total Drama Island for them, it was only a matter of time before they imported another show from the Canadian production company. Anyway, I love the animation style. Here's hoping that along with 6T and TDI, more shows in that vein start showing up.
Gulielma
I like this show a lot, even if the humor is gross at times. But given that it's the same people who made Total Drama Island , it's not surprising.

Loved Jude and Ron the Rent-A-Cop getting hooked on Booty and the Borough , insane Lydia unable to tell Wyatt from Wayne (and even Wayne realizing that she's crazy), Jen's "girl-crush" on Jane, Jonesy getting fired from *every* job he gets. Jude occasionally saying something that makes sense....

I also like that some of the same voices are used in Total Drama Island.
jbreckenridge
I caught a couple episodes of this show while channel surfing recently. The purple-haired girl looks very similar to the neighbor girl from Undergrads. Are any of the same animators involved?
Punkinetta
So, so glad I'm not alone. I just found this show 3 days ago during a marathon, and I a m h o o k e d. Way too old for it, but it is seriously hilarious. Jude getting hooked on the BatB? "Dude--there's SEX in H-E-R-E! (Pause) I totally spelled the wrong word."

I love Jude, the goths (with nipple piercings!), even Wyatt's songs are pretty good.

I am surprised that it airs fairly early. I would think that it would be in the 8-10pm hour.
