Personally I hope the toys they show are Thundercats, Transformers Generation 1, and the original He-Man toys. Imagine them talking about Snake Mountain.

Even though I think we should all be sick of the 'I Love' franchise by now, I just can't get enough of it. I could have seen each and every 'I Love the 80s' episode 400 times, and I'll still tune in if I catch a marathon.
And yep, I'll tune in for 'I Love Toys', if only to hear the line, "I refuse to believe being a doctor is this difficult," in reference to Operation.

From the promo, this looks to be a cross between the "I Love the" series and the standard top 100 list.

Never. I'm convinced of it.

I said something similar the other day. I'm actually hoping they put in on DVD.
Can't wait for this one. I want to reminisce.

I hadn't even heard of this countdown until I saw the first ep on this morning. Of course I sat down and watched it. I was surprised they listed "Liitle Golden Books" as toys though as books aren't something I usually think of as toys and that they contained just the slightest bit of erotica in them.

Will someone please fire the person at VH1 who insists on putting Michael Ian Black on every one of these shows. He's the only person who's shown commenting on every entry on the list and his comments are always really stupid.

Gasp! How dare you mock the MIB? :) (Unh - the MIB! J/K). He's the best part of these I Love the ... shows -- dry wit makes me smile.
I completely forgot about Woolly Willy. What a ridiculously stupid toy in the grand tradition of "giving the kids something to keep them occupied so they'll shut up in the car" toys. And of course I totally had a Spirograph. This show is a treasure trove, I tell ya.

Did they just decide on the day they taped the second 80s sequel just to make everyone stick around and tape a whole bunch of shows?

In the late 1990's Barnes and Noble sold journals with a Wooly Willy game used as the cover.

I caught the sneak preview Sunday morning. I plan to catch most of this series later in the week - so I can marathon a couple hours of it back to back to back. I'm a huge toy fanatic - as well as a fanatic for the "I Love..." shows. This is a marriage made in heaven for me.

Okay, I don't know what they were smoking, but Magic 8 Balls definitely rank above some stupid Spyrograph, and, despite my ever-abiding love for them, books aren't toys. Barbie better make the top 3, or I'll be really pissed*.

I thought the bit with 'Cobra Commander' was somewhat humerous. However the rest of the toys/books/games mentioned I don't think I ever played with. I sure as hell didn't play with Care Bears or My Little Pony.
Though I think I did play Memory and Chutes and Ladders as a kid but oddly I thought Chutes and Ladders was something different because I don't remember it being a game showing the consequences of actions.

Chutes & Ladders was after my time (at least I don't remember it or any of my friends having it.) However, we played "Memory" with a deck of cards & called it Concentration. I agree with whoever said Barbie must be top 3 or I'll be pissed.
Anybody notice that Hal Sparks was conspicuously absent this time or is it just me?

That's who that was? I didn't recognize her. She does look different. But she is still as annoying on this show as she is on 106 and Park.
The gun segment was pretty funny. Some people wore protective glasses during the gun segment, but those that didn't, had 'fake' glasses superimposed over their eyes. Why?
Isn't Haile Eisnenberg (girl from Pepsi commercials) too young to be talking about spirogrograph? Weren't half these toys off the shelf by the time she was born?
The 'American Humorist' guys are no longer credited as that. They are now called 'screenwriters'. They probably had to take the 'humorist' label off, since they aren't funny. At all.

As a child who was thrilled by the spirograph (I'm a dork, don't ask), I'd have to say that it does in no way rank above the Magic 8 Ball. Nor does Gumby for that matter, but then I was never into Gumby as a child.
And Hallie is way too freaking young to be talking about any of this stuff! She's around 13 and probably only knows the re-issue of the toys.
And I've never played with Thumblina (before my time, I guess), but that doll scared the crap out of me. It was creepy as hell...

And out of all that, I know I went skating in the 80s as that was the thing to do. I also have played Trivial Pursuit, Operation and Life and putting together puzzles. The rest, I have no memory playing with.
Though I think I did play with a Rubik's Cube at some point but never solved it.

I finally saw this last night.
I love Amanda Bynes during the laser tag segment. "I loved layshhhher tag. Whoa, I said that drunk"
Also thought the Care Bears rocked. Especially Rachael and Debbie talking to the bears, heehee. Rachel Leigh Cook was funny too (man, does that girl ALWAYS appear to be 11???) with her "Care-alot looked exactly like how I pictured heaven. You could jump around on clouds and it was all awesome" (paraphrasing, kinda)
The only thing I hate is when it is so obvious someone never saw a certain toy/game and they pretend it was "(my) _____" <--insert toy, game, etc. Sorta like Godfrey and the Chutes and Ladders.
Candyland better be in this countdown as well as Popples or I'm out. I'm also calling Barbie as the #1 toy.

I watched this last night and LOVED it! I remember far too many of those toys. I loved the guy who pointed out that Candyland was the first game you played that you realized you'd grown too old for. So true! Also, pointing out how naughty the Little Golden Books were with all of the panties showing. And I liked the segment with the comedians and the walkie-talkies. "Love Train, this is Tangerine Dream...you copy?" Maybe I am just too easily amused... Also, the Magic 8 Ball was robbed! Number 100? There's no way -- that should be in the Top 10.

I love toys too, but I HATE this show! Why is it that the classic I Love The... voice guy is mixed in with other dudes like the nucklehead who shouts, "Number 87". He sounds like the deli guy at Stop and Shop calling out ticket numbers. I'm also wondering when stickers became a toy. Can a sticker help G.I. Joe win a battle? Can a sticker have a Fresca party with Barbie? Yeah, fun toy there, buddy.
I can't say I didn't love the stuff with Cobra Commandant! Those bits were funny and I hope at the end they have him take off his hood because I read somewhere (SPOILER ALERTING) that it's Paul Scheer dressed up like that the whole time. I can't wait to see if thats for real.
All in all, I would say I was pretty happy concidering there was no Hal Sparks and no Dane Cook. Maybe the next one will have them and I can say that they used them because of me.

I'm starting to think that some of these should have been in the "I Love Fads" show. (no, it doesn't exist, but I'm sure now that I've suggested it, it will) Stickers? Yeah, I had a sticker book, but you don't actually play with them in any way.
My faves last night: Candyland, Life (the whole "If you lose at this game, you're a loser at life" thing is always what I think when i play it!), and Risk. Man, Risk is like the D&D of my high school. We spent hours playing it and even had strategy planning sessions. God, I am such a dork.

I just can't get into this particular I Love series. I do want to know who the Cobra Commander is - but there's little keeping me interested to watch more than once.
That and I can't help but think of the ones that were already covered in a previous edition (and much funnier too).
I had no idea the bag of Army Guys were something kids today still play with. Then again, I am assuming this because Dewey of Malcolm in the Middle said that and that could be about as likely as the Pepsi girl with the Spirograph.

Boo! He-Man, Transformers and Game Boy should have been in the top 20!!!
Sadly, I made the mistake of tearing off the heads, legs and arms of my He-Man action figures back in the 90s. I think I was mad that day. If I hadn't done that, I could have sold them on Ebay. By the way, it was only recently and by way of the updated He-Man cartoon, did I learn that Teela was the Sorcereress' daughter.
I would also still have my Transformers but I did the dumb thing and took them all apart. I never could put them back together.
As for the frisbee and jump rope, well I sucked at both.

I loved seeing RISK because a couple of years ago a couple of other Twoppers and I got together and played for about four hours before we realized that we were playing incorrectly.
My niece got Candyland this Christmas so I played that for hours. I remember being obsessed with Rainbow Brite. I had the doll and the horse and probably Twink too. We even had to eat the cereal.

Meh. I will watch when it marathons because I always do, but lack of Hal Sparks and Rich Eisen since ILT90's:PD has killed most of my love for the series. VH1 needs to do a reality check via Gottfried's "What The F$%&? Moment". VH1, next time you get the urge to do another IL__, please just rerun 70's, 80's or 80's Strikes Back. I promise I'll watch.

Don't worry; I'm sure they will.
I liked the Life segment also. Man, we used to play that game every summer day as kids. We'd grease the spinning wheel with vasoline each time to make it spin "better."
And as for Clue, nice segment, but that was one of those games we could never really figure out the rules. We got that you're supposed to figure out who did it, but... the rest was a blur.
I was surprised Rubik's Cube was so low on the list, given its popularity.

After seeing a couple episodes, I can now safely say that this show is not a cross between the "I Love The" series and a standard top 100 countdown. It's a top 100 countdown wearing an "I Love The" suit.
That said, cool that the Original Gameboy kicked off the top 50, and the 8-bit NES took us to the top 20. In your face, Teddy bear!
