Anyone remember this show? It starred Fred Savage in what I believe to be his first starring sitcom role since Wonder Years. I honestly can't remember who else was in it, though I think the girl who played Winnie from Wonder Years played the boss's daughter.

That's really all I can remember about the show other than the zany hijinks in the work place.

My husband loved this show! It also starred the guy who played Banya on Seinfeld, and Debi Mazar.

Imdb entry

I remember liking it, that it had its moments. The boss was a jerk, I remember that.

I remember the girl who played Monica and Chandler's maid on Friends was on it, as the eternally perky office gal. They did a whole episode about her planning those annoying office birthday cake parties, I think.

The first season was great, all funny and quirky and absurd. The second season, they messed with it and it all went downhill.

Season 1: Greatness.

Season 2: Not so much.

Back in the day, I was running the only "Working" fansite outthere, god, that brings me back ... maybe I should put it back up again.

Anyways ... shame "Crumbs" didn't get as much of a chance as "Working" did. Guess it's back to directing kid shows for Fred.

And if I'm remembering correctly, they got rid of the perky annoying one and I think the secretary. At least I think.

I didn't get a chance to catch the show in its original airing, but on USA daytime years later. That was awesome, especially since they aired episodes more than once. God, I loved the show, well, the first season that is. Seems to be a consensus around here.

Does anybody remember the Catcher in the Rye ep? That was brilliant. I also remember when, in one ep, (I can't remember the specifics) Matt betrays Tim. Then, they're all at dinner and it's later compared to The Last Supper. Just random memories popping into my head, like when Chris pretended to be a guy in order to get the job. Or when Abby picked up guys with a deep voice she had from a cold...I'll stop now.

The only thing about this show I remember is one scene that was in some outdoor courtyard or something and it suddenly turned into a parody of the Michael Jackson "Bad" video.

I do remember that show. It had a very "Herman's Head" kind of wackyness IMHO, though obviously not quite in the same way. Which I found interesting because NewsRadio would have been a more likely comparsion given the setting, station, and fact that they ran concurrently.

Also, although I remember it as a Fred Savage vehicle, the face I associate with the show is that of Maurice Godin (the boss). Having seen him on "Cafe Americain" (which was cute) and "Life with Roger" (which had Mike O'Malley - 'nuff said), I always suspected the show wouldn't live long. However he's guested on plenty of other programs that I've decided it's not inherently his fault.
2nd Best Friend
Arden Myrin played Abby Cosgrove, the perky office girl. She was in both seasons. She's a regular on FOX's MADtv now, where she plays ... perky characters. And Hilary Duff.

That show was so funny (maybe I onl caught season one). I especially loved the young smarmy boss, who I think was on an episode of Lois and Clark, and the perky H!ITGirl who is now on MADtv. There was also this sardonic white-guy coworker who was my favorite, he was another HITG, but I can't remember if it was Joey Slotnick or not.

There was one smarmy kind of smart ass guy. I remember him as a kind of a Phil Hartman (his character on NewsRadio) wanna be.
Bruinsfan
Yeah, he was played by Steve Hytner.

This thread's been buried a long time but I recently tracked down some episodes of this show so I thought I would comment. I remember when Working first aired I loved it in the first season but lost interest during the second. At the time I thought the cast changes were to blame but upon revisiting it I don't think the new characters were bad. The show just wasn't as funny in the second season. I love Delaney's smartass comments, and Arden Myrin did a great job being the annoyingly perky office girl. Her crush/obsession with Matt was a good twist, as typically we'll see a central male character being the one who is pining for his unattainable dream girl. I thought Matt should have given Abby a chance, especially since he seemed to be hot for every woman he met except her. I think the best episode was the one where "Winnie" made a guest appearance, not because I'm some Kevin/Winnie shipper but because it's just hilarious (this is the one with the "Bad" video sequence).
Twilight Man
You forgot about Debi Mazar as "Liz".

Now she's "Dancing With The Stars."

Go Debi!!!!

I really liked this show, it was quirky & different. Good casting, too. Shame it didn't last.
