Also, during the segment where they were looking at different products, I loved that he had no problem saying something was ugly, or tasted like crap. Very honest compared to those hosts who pretend to love everything, which just isn't possible. Of course, if the makers of these products are sponsoring the show, they probably won't be happy. But I liked it.[/quote]
I found myself in love with the show when he matter-of-factly told the audience to skip the fat-free ice cream and stick with the regular ice cream and pills.

From his show's previous incarnation (Oxygen?), I know he leans way too heavily on the 'genius' adjective. He has a few other verbal quirks that bug me, but overall he's fun and I'll be tuning in.
I also liked the way on the audience portion of the Dolly Parton show he said something about 'we've never discussed this before' when it was clear he meant the questions he was being asked had been vetted by producers and chosen. He did get that young woman to stop wearing that hideous dark lip liner in the nicest possible way.

I am loving this show. I almost died when the healthy foods woman was telling him about the dangers of sugar substitutes, and he said one of the dangers was "anal leakage." She looked stunned. Someone off-camera said "that's fat substitutes" and Isaac started laughing and said "oh yeah, that's right - nevermind" and everybody cracked up laughing.

I guess the show needs time to find its focus because some of the segments don't go anywhere plus there are too many activities for an hour-long show. For instance, he and the "comedienne" whose specialty was turning bridesmaid gowns into tops hacked up two dresses and then moved on without turning them into camisole tops. I wasn't crazy about the makeovers either. The woman with the long straight hair still looked like John Kerry after the makeover and the maximum-boobed woman in the purple sweater desperately needed a better fitting bra instead of mascara and concealer. I really like Isaac though so I'll keep watching.

I caught a couple of eps over the weekend. I prefer Isaac in small doses - an hour is a bit much for me. My favorite part is the Q&A with the sketches at the end - what a cute way to give someone a souveneir from the show, rather than some freebie promo item.

Just had to chime in with the Isaac love. I'm glad that the show is an hour long because we get to see more of him, but I agree that it needs a bit more focus and less of a frenetic pace. I never realized the Mizrahi love I harbor until I found myself willing to watch even though Nancy O'Dell was the guest. Oh, and I am loving the Q & A segments at the end. For some reason it reminds me of an audience Q & A with Sylvia Brown or some-psychic-pretending-to-channel-a-dead-relative-whose-name-begins-with-a-G. Only it's gratifying because he actually answers elusive questions such as "how to look elegant yet casual" (sexy mini-dress with a denim jacket) and says he needs to see the fashion dilemma/challenge in person. And...clap for the thread title!

Clapping for Isaac and this thread title. Good one, DrCher.
I just adore Isaac and this show. It's just so comforting to watch. I don't cringe like I do watching Martha.
He doesn't ask the same stupid questions every other talk show host does. And he listens to his guests and gives them a chance to speak.
Can't wait til he starts putting the wall-o-glass in between his audience and his work room. Would love it more if he walked us through how he designs and develops his clothing line.

I love Isaac, but really liked the old Oxygen show better. Why'd they dump it? You really got much more of a personal, real feel for the celebs--they'd go shopping, or he'd style an outfit for one of them, or they'd sing, or whatever. It was a nice refresher from the usual talk show interviews celebs do. The chats felt more organic. Isaac wasn't so overanimated and didn't dominate the conversation as much.

I love this show! I've been going through withdrawal with Imus in the Morning being on hiatus. Yes, I know this is the complete opposite. Isaac just makes me happy. The enforced clapping, the sketching, the coffee and the cute coffee guy, the self-absorption, all of it. He clearly has ADHD or at least huge anxiety so the frenetic pace and leaping from segment to segment probably suits his personality the best. Loved seeing how his couture collection came together and love seeing his eyes glaze over when the subject veers away from him for too long. I think he liked the numerologist for a bit and then he just zoned.
Great thread title. This is like a little daily dose of Project Runway -- I'm still recovering from the unsatisfying lingerie episode -- and a fabulous fix for a bereft Fag Hag like me.
Okay, time for the Rachael Ray episode. I adore her so let the fawning begin.

Does anyone have any idea how many of these were filmed before they started airing? I know most if not all of the 'on the street' segments were filmed before the show started, only because it was clearly fall or late summer outside. Also, they are reusing interviewees, so they obviously asked 'live ones' a ton of questions for future shows. I recall seeing the woman with a french accent, dark hair and thick headband at least twice.
I don't believe in psychics, but I would have loved to have been in that audience for Char. If she had nailed things for me like for the woman with the curly hair, I would have been crying like that too.
It fits in with his ADHD style, but I don't like the little blurbs in the middle of the commercial break. It makes it much harder to FF, keeping my eyes peeled for Isaac or that one fit model who apparently isn't allowed to speak.
Clap for page two!

I went to the Style network's site, and Isaac's airing schedule is just like him - all over the place. Check out the numbers of each episode. The first one they created was the Matthew Modine/Alan Cumming episode. I guess they gave him friends as guests at the beginning to warm him up. I think Sandra's episode was 103. Wacky.
Madonna is a guest on Monday's show. That's a nice get for him. I hope he has Nellie McKay on soon - she's so great and is in Threepenny Opera as well.

I didn't mind Isaac - true, he did put his foot in his mouth a few times, but he was just being himself, not an asskissing presenter, a la Star Jones. I don't think he meant any harm in the questions he asked and if celebs can't take it, they need to get a sense of humor about themselves.

Just saw his Madonna interview, and I thought he nailed it. Instead of getting the over controlled carefully worded Madonna that we usually see, we saw a glimmer of humanity as she discussed her relationship with Lourdes.

Give me him over teleprompter reading robots like Tyra and Martha any day.

I guaran-frickin-tee that if E foolishly decides to put him on the red carpet again, no celebrities will go near him. The fact that Madonna and Sarah Jessica Parker find him amusing could flip very quickly. It's just a matter of time before everyone sees he just a gross brat. I wanted to like him, I really did. I used to love his designs back in the day. Now he's just another tv & Kmart (or is it Target?) whore.

I think he's just one of those pampered people who is surrounded by minions. You see them on those little inserts they do during commercials. He says something he thinks is clever, they laugh politely and he repeats the line so someone will write it down so he remembers to say it on the show. He also will say outlandish things and cover his mouth like he's an embarrassed little boy, but he's going to continue saying them.
I still like him and find his audacity a breath of fresh air in E's celebrity ass kiss fest.

A good part Isaac's charm is that he knows this about himself. Recently, I saw him showing off the beverage cups with his face and the show's logo on it. And Isaac said to the audience, "And you wonder why I have such a huge ego and am so impossible?"
It's also refreshing when he announces he's going to do some talk shop cliche, and then does it.
Anyone who goes on Isaac's show knows that he/she will have to deal with some of Isaac's shtick. At the same time, he will ask the manager of the New York Yankees about the guy's charity, a place that helps battered woman, and listen as the guy tells about how his own mother was abused by his father.
And I love "sketches and answers" at the end of the show. He gives people good advice on fashion, advice that isn't dependent on the trend of the moment.

The cult of personality thing seems to be a necessity for fashion designers and talk show hosts, so if one is both, I guess the sky is the limit.
If I could change two things about Isaac, it would be for him to give it a rest with the astrology already, and for him to flat out say he doesn't like someone's hair/article of clothing etc, instead of finding a backhanded way of doing it. Then he'd be completely entertaining to me.

I really like this show. I didn't know too much about him before it. I really like his smile.
He's also hilarious in some of the cooking segments. Today, with Sandra Lee, she had him piping some crab dip from a zip lock bag onto crackers, and I don't think the hole in the bag was cut big enough, because the crab dip was sort of coming out in fits and starts and then too much, etc. He started giggling and said something like "it seems like this is more about bodily functions than it is about appetizers" or something like that. It's when he comes out with totally off the wall stuff that you'd never hear another talk show host say that he has me.
That's the only reason I watched the Red Carpet at the Globes - to see what he would say. Even toned down, I'll definitely watch him at the Oscars.
Also, what happened that he was a huge designer and then...wasn't? I don't know the story.
ETA: I would like him to give the astrology a rest too. I'm also sorry that he always feels like he's fat.

I don't know what happened to his high-end line (he must still be doing it on some level because there was a segment on his show where he had some fashion editors in to see his new stuff), but his Target line recently had an absolutely perfect, Hepburn-esque Little Black Dress for 30 bucks.
So perfect that there was only one left, in not-my-size. Ugh.
You know, I really like Isaac. I think he's funny and charming and so absolutely random. However, lately there have been times when he's bugged me. Like when Margaret Cho was on and he referred to her as "Chinese". Or when Nia Long was on and he was all "So, a baby and you're not married? How'd that happen? Tell us about that?". He just makes me cringe, not so much for me but for him! I fear one day a guest is going to haul off and slap him. Plus, who does his research for him?
I do love "Sketches and Answers". I wish I could go on there and ask him a question just to get that little Issac-signed sketch w/my name on it.
One last observation: often I find his audience a bit underwhelmed. Makes me think Isaac needs a new warm-up guy.

They complain (filed or not) about everybody these days. They lost credibility when they bitched about Elton John, IMO. (But their complaint was legit in that he should not have said "dyke" on national TV, whether he's gay or not)
I do like in his show when he answers the audience's questions, particularly last week when he modeled how to masculinely wear a scarf. "I can't breathe, but I look manly."

I guess I'm in the minority because I couldn't stand this show the few times I watched. I find Isaac to be pretentious, interruptive, dismissive, insincere and generally a jerk-off. None of those qualities makes for a good talk-show host, IMO. Don't get me wrong, I do not admire ass-kissing hosts like Oprah but I think there can be a balance. It seems that Isaac can barely tolerate his audience either.

On one hand, I like the content and topics and the variety of guests of the show... and I do like the Q&A sketching thing at the end of each episode... on the other hand, he's a jittering nutcase (who has a problem with catch phrases, clapping, and interrupting). I also find his thing about not wearing socks fucking annoying, but that's besides the point.
I guess if I tune out while he's talking (which is about 99.9% of the show) a storm up about some trivial horse fodder, it makes it tolerable. eh!
