The Apprentices write and produce an original song to be performed on satellite radio, live. As a reward, the winners live like a true Apprentice, while the losers face the boardroom, where the 9th candidate is fired.
What is a "true Apprentice"? Are they going to burn their hand like Johnny Tremaine?
And this just in: the next episode is called "Shaniagans." I think that means singing. Jeez.

BOO-YAH! And Clay proves once again that he is an annoying little bitch with delusions of grandeur. Clay, you're not creative. You're not a team player. And DAMN! Trump fired the right person for the second week in a row! Go Trump!
And damn, that the most delusional cabride ever! Yeah, 'cause Alla, Adam, Randal, Rebecca and Felisha won't break out the champagne the minute the door closes! JERK!
Was it just me, or did anyone else think that Trump was going to say he owned the Statue of Liberty?
Hee! Loved when Felisha was doing her TD impression going, "And I own this, and I own that and I own that..."
Adam, if you make a lot of money, PLEASE tell me that you'll have better taste than Trump.

Damn that was awful. Its too bad that Clay is an asshat because he does have some good ideas. Rebecca was mediocre as usual. Randal was totally not himself considering the simple, yet potentially catastrophic mistake he made.

I'm glad Capitol Edge is winning more though. They deserve it.

So George has been a soda jerk, radio exec, and lawyer. Is there anything our snarky TV Grandpa can't do?
Guess Clay could have a glass of milk to go with his slice of bitter. I have a feeling that Adam felt all funny inside after getting into a three-way hug with Alla and Felicia.
Good idea for Randall to pull a Kwame, and save his rear-end.

Just as I was thinking about how I liked Clay at the beginning and end of this epi, he goes and gives a bitter cabterview like that.
I love how Trump really belives that he is the sole owner of all those buildings. I was waiting for him to tell us that he owns the Statue of Liberty too.
I actually liked Felisha's artist. I think I would buy that album. I feel for both of those performers, having to be dictated to by the likes of Clay and Adam.

You would think when taking into consideration the past, Trump would take into consideration the entire past history of the contestants including the fact that Clay and Randall are 2-0 as PM whereas Rebecca is 0-2 as PM. Surprising that little fact did not come up. This is not to say I am not glad Clay was given the cobra fingers over Rebecca.
As for Felisha, man did she get a good edit tonight and almost no mention of Alla. I guess we need to be given some reason as to why she (likely) makes the Final 4.
ETA: YAY! George is back. Man that guy has done a lot in his lifetime. That grin he had when he said he loved Hard Rock warmed the cockles of my heart. Awww.

Bye Bye Clay!
Hehehe!
Excel should have went with the female group they showed them interviewing first. They were generic, but in this task, generic was good.
Though I had to laugh at the guy who said Excel was too formulaic, yeah, that covers 95% of music out there on the airwaves today. I thought CE was just as bad or worse. I've heard that song they did before, by such groups as Dave Matthews, Gin Blossoms, Blues Traveler, etc.
Anyway, more cracks in Randal have been shown.
I didn't pay attention, did Felicia get immunity and a free pass into the final four?
Two episodes next week, or just one drawn out episode?
Oh, and bye Clay!

I was a bit surprised that Rebecca went for Randal's throat like that. I mean, I can see where she thought she might have a chance to get rid of a better player than her, but damn, didn't she think about the fact that she might still have to work with him the next week? She completely blindsided him in the boardroom.

Nov 17, 2005 @ 10:02 pm
So, is it just me, or did Clay's bitter-view in the cab basically tell us that he thinks Alla is going to win? He says that Rebecca and Randal don't have a chance, because they don't have a creative bone in their bodies. He says that Felisha and Adam are "next," since Alla doesn't have Clay to pick on anymore...so that means that Clay endorses Alla as the last one standing?
I love that even as he's trying to put her down, Clay recognizes that Alla is far stronger than he ever was.

Aaaaaaahhhhh!!!!! I hated this task. What if you've never listened to an adult alternative station before? How would you know what the right sound is? The song Excel created sounded like a pop song. Maybe that's the kind of music they listen to. It was just so stupid. It wasn't a measure of anything.
I'd love to see how well Donald, Carolyn and George would do on a task like this.
And Donald, thank for the definition of the word history. " Things that happened in the past." Gee, I learn something every time I watch this show.

Clay was never going to win. Ever. But he at least had 2 wins as PM. Rebecca lost twice. And what is this "superstar" label for Rebecca?
They lost because they chose the wrong format. Whose decision was that? Rebecca's.
Thought Clay was a prickly, arrogant pain in the ass...but he contributed. He had a whole different song written up and had to change it becasue Rebecca chose a different idea.
Such bullshit. Rebecca is being kept around...why?

What the hell was Felisha wearing when they met Trump. Alla looked bad enough in her Old Navy Dress-cut denim jacket. But Felisha looked like something 'Hello Kitty" coughed up. And then the obi wrapped top. For someone who can never have enough table linens, no matter where she goes. And the top she wore to the presentation? When the artist looks more buiness appropriate than the woman presenting him? The jeans during his interviews? I wonder if Tanya Tucker knows Felisha raided her attic.
And Adam? Bitching about loyalty and lack there of concerning Clay? Isn't a real sell coming after you three failed to vote him immunity after the win. Regardless of whether he deserved it, you looked like an idiot. I actualy enjoyed that Trump pretty much cut you off. And how the hell can this current Miss Universe be "our best yet". WTF?! Don't they open malls and sit in ugly white jeans in Trump's office smiling vacuously while serving no purpose whatsoever?
While overall, none of these people are something I would hire, Rebecca and Randal showed so much class with the issue over Clay. Professionalism. It's what Alla and Felisha are never having for dinner. Alla bitching and whining about the whole personal dynamic Clay brings. Well goodness Alla. Maybe playing whisper-whisper in the corner since day fucking one with your little useless pal Felisha? Didn't really help.
Clay. Alla might make it personal even as she complains about him doing the same but I so would love to be a fly on the wall in a normal business setting with Clay. If his interactive behavior was a vocal tone? He so does not have an inside voice. It's like running into someone you barely know at the drugstore and have her flat out tell you she are picking up her genital warts medication. There simply is no where to go from that point. I would love to see Felisha in a real professional setting as well. Though she is probably the "Yes" girl who always manages to appear attached to successful projects she really had nothing to do with. Alla I already have a good idea how she would appear in a professional setting. I am old enough to remember Leona Helmsley.
And a big boo and hiss for putting the negative comments about the song in the previews so we know that Excel is going to lose the task. As soon as Capital Edge was done, it was needless to even air Excel's presentation. I wonder if every single one of the listeners' comments about Capital Edge's song were favorable or they just edited it as such. Regardless, I wish someone in their editing would get what you put in a preview and what you don't to maintain what little tension and drama is supposed to be wrung from from this.
"Plenty of room". Really? But the ego came on board.
Clay sucked. As a team player. But I am not sure how he necessarily lost the task. Rebecca steered the focus of the song and that was pretty much what failed. Still I do think Clay needs to go. But I think it is unfair to call Rebecca and Randal "stars reduced to nothing" because of Clay. Rebecca is hardly a star. Randal, maybe in the world of The Apprentice. George hit the nail on the head. But that would have meant firing Rebecca despite trump trying to rewrite hsitory by claiming Rebecca has been a "star". Rebecca had a lot to make up for since Toral in my opinion. And being the lesser of a bunch of losers the last couple of tasks is not a star turn by any means.
Is this the worst line up going into the final five? Kendra all makes all of them look so shabby. Kevin and Sandy make them look shabby. Clay's comment about Rebecca's ankle was a little odd but loved the whole poor Felisha and Adam comment. Because that is soooo true. Adam will likely just look his usual stunned out-of-it self. but Felisha? Damn I am so looking forward to seeing her face when her BFF Alla aims right between the shoulder blades (from Felisha's standpoint it will be backstabbing -- most likely it will just be within the parameters of the game).
Trump was probably thrilled that Randal visibly tripped up so he can play his "i'm not sure who I'm going to pick" game in the finale.

Did anyone else expect Trump to then fire someone else, after Clay's "You're fired!" was uttered?

It was clear to me that was coming when they were in the suite together and she didn't try to ally herself with him against Clay in anyway; in her earlier interviews she talked all about how she and Randal would have done better without Clay, etc, but then at the last minute there it became clear she was doing the mental calculus; no more exemptions, it's down to the end, can't keep building up Randal because it'll make myself look weaker, etc.

Man, Rebecca is not so much for the PM'ing, but she's unbelievable in the Boardroom. She officially began the end game tonight by breaking up the Randal coronation and going after him in the BR. She now has Trump thinking Randal makes yooge, firing-type mistakes. And, folks, Randal had nothing for her in return.
I'm starting to think Rebecca & Alla in the final two because nobody else has the stones to go toe-to-toe with Rebecca. Randal proved it tonight; Adam? please; and Felisha? only if Alla gets to stay in the room with her arm up her back.

Rebecca annoyed me tonight and as PM she could have taken control. Alla had to last task and she wasn't even PM . I am glad Clay got fired but CE had to work with Clay for awhile and I laughed when Rebecca who never worked with Clay before said she can't work with him again. I would have fired Clay and Rebecca. Because Rebecca stood up for Toral once, all Trump thinks is that Rebecca is so loyal and honest when in reality she is not creative, not a standout and not a star. She also tried to push Randal under a bus when she told Trump that Clay was more creative than Randal. I don't think Randal saw that coming.

Good to see Clay maintained what appears to be his lifelong record of never gaining an ounce of self-awareness or the slighest hint that how he perceives himself might be just a tad different from how the rest of the world sees him. At least he's consistent, he was a pissy, petty little ego-maniac right to the end.
Moment I most wanted to slap him? When he opened the door to let whoever the singer was in before he was supposed. Granted, the idea of a "grand enterance" was goofy, but the look of smug self-satisfaction on his face when he did it and could see it rattled Rebecca - UGH. SLAP. HARD.
Hard to understand based on the only chat we saw btw Randall and Rebecca after the debacle, exactly why she went after him in the boardroom. Didn't make sense in the context of what we were shown.
God, I love George. He's so totally my favorite this season.

I think this was by far the dumbest task. It was kind of like the "artist" task on the first Apprentice -- basically, you take a bunch of people who know nothing about music (or art) and ask them to market to a very specific niche. It's always a crapshoot.
That being said, I'm glad Trump kicked whiny, self-pitying, "creative" Clay to the curb. And any shred of sympathy I had for Clay went out the door with his incredibly bitter cab interview. God, it might have been the most classless one since Katrina from Apprentice 1.
Other thoughts: Carolyn looks so damn YOUNG with her cheerleader hairdo tonight. The high ponytail, the bangs, the wispies around the face -- she just erased ten years off her age. She looked so cute, I practically wanted to pat her head and tug at her ponytail.
Rebecca needs to take some lessons from Kwame with regards to boardroom demeanor. Like Kwame, Rebecca has a poor history as PM, but Kwame was masterful in being tactful and classy in the BR. Rebecca ends up looking harsh and even mean. She's "honest" but when you have such a losing record you dont really have the right to be that "honest."
My prediction: Alla vs. Randal. Alla is the most take-charge of the Apprentices, while Randal has the most "education." God, I will officially shoot myself if Trump makes this "Booksmarts vs. Streetsmarts."
George owning a radio station? Love it!

That just made me distinctly uncomfortable. Like how I'd feel if I were trapped in a helicopter with Donald Trump, Philosopher King and Aesthete!
This was a particularly stupid task. I've written music (I don't perform, because I have stage fright like hell), and that whole "interview" process was making me squirm. There were a couple of times when I thought the artists were totally conveying, smile and nod at the idiots, you're on TV. And it really, really annoys me when people say things like "he has a lot of flavor (or was it flava!) in his voice."
Is the lighting in the Trump Modeling Management building really weird, or did all the women (and Adam) decide to spackle on the make-up? And what was Felicia wearing, anyway?
I found Rebecca's "serious, intellectual, Nigerian-influenced" shtick to be really, really annoying, too.
George is cute. And delusional as Clay was in the cab, at least he managed to leave the building with some grace--although I couldn't figure out what he said.

Heh, Carolyn's eyes were shooting daggers when smiling after Trump introduced her to Miss Universe. After Trump told them to wait right there, what the hell was that weird-ass sax flare all about?
LOL! "What about me" is something that would come out of a woman's mouth. (Clay: "But isn't that the beauty of it?" WTF?!) That entire conversation was soooo damn funny. But did Rebecca start crying when Clay gave her the big violin? C'mon! And man, was not so not feeling Jide's song, especially not the final version. Reminded me of that insipid inspirational tune, "You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm, you gotta stay together" song. Felisha was solid at getting the band off that jazz vibe, I was thinking the exact same thing right before she did it. And thankfully my biggest fear of this episode wasn't realized -- Adam didn't sing.
Holy crap, did you see Randal's forehead start twitching when Trump said putting the wrong channel might be a firing offense. Wow! That was a little uncomfortable to watch.
Trump's being seriously blinded by Rebecca, it's getting on my nerves, especially the whole Queen Honesty thing. No surprise at the final outcome. Neither was Clay leaving like a bitch. "You said something you didn't have to say." The hell? I wish she had given a nice big violin back at him at that point. Still got Alla vs. Randal for the final 2, although that requires Trump looking at the job Rebecca's doing instead of her breasts.

Well, in this somewhat irritating episode, Rebecca continues to be an overvalued mediocrity with very strong opinions, as if her well-articulated points and very shiny hair make up for the rest of her shortcomings.
Alla is totally the strongest of the lot. She proves in this episode that she can not only lead as a PM and give 200% for another PM, but she can also sit back and let others lead - and that is one very important quality lots of managers do not have.
Please, no more music. I have no idea what is alternative rock but whatever it is, it kind of sucks.
And finally, what is wrong with a 24 year old man of any race asking 'what about me?' Rebecca must have one sheltered life if she cannot understand why even a young man can feel rejected and neglected.

They should have let the artists write their own songs. None of the Apprenti were qualified for this task!

What was it Clay said to Rebecca as he was going to the down elevator?
Some artist used to have a hit with a song called "What About Me"- it was somebody like Air Supply or somebody generic like that. I'm pretty sure the singer was a male. It was a homogenized Adult Lite Rock type song so it cracked me up that Rebecca was so against that song.

Actually, I think Clay was referring to the complement Randal gave him when they asked Clay to join their team. It was a very classy thing to do, IMHO, and extended my Randal love. This ep was not nearly as painful as it could have been, since they had actual people who could sing doing the songs.
I was worried that they were really going after Randal in the boardroom, but one of my friends pointed out that Randal could have dropped trou and mooned the XM execs and he wouldn't have been fired.

Rebecca and Randal sealed the fate of their team when they allowed Clay to join them, especially with all the "he's SO creative!!" BS. How could they be that clueless about Clay's behavior on the other team?? And I hate it when a team decides to "push the limit" -- aka ignore the purpose of the task -- and do something they like instead of what the executives want. So I thought they all deserved to be fired. DT's reasoning -- you must consider history! -- means he should have fired Rebecca for her 0-2 PM record, but I was glad to see that snotty, whiny bitch Clay kicked to the curb. He's absolutely poisonous.
