He seems very controlling. I add to that the fact they're on camera so some self-censoring must occur, and I become concerned with how he acts off camera. I also remember the blind item about Jason being physically abusive in a past relationship. Someone mentioned his physical stance with LC. It's intimidating. Remember the fashion show epi on LB when he kept trying to grab her arm roughly? The comment he made about her constantly making mistakes scared me. It reminded me of numerous Lifetime movies and the signs of abuse. Even if it's not physical, he continually makes her feel like she did something wrong or that she doesn't have a reason to me mad or upset. That's not a healthy relationship, IMO.
So much word to this. I get the impression, at the very least, that there is verbal abuse going on there. I was really disturbed by the things he said last night. He acted like an angel to get her back, and now is back to his old self. I doubt this was just "one moment".
Did anyone else think she didn't look that happy in the parking garage after Jason grabbed her and kissed her?
The fact that we know that they now bought a condo in LA together does not make me root for them and their all-enduring lurve. It just makes LC look bad.

I felt so bad for Lauren. All she wanted was a nice new years. Jason is so jelous. She is too good for him but she is in love with the yutz (or atleast she thinks she is) so he has no need to be so worried about her leaving him for David or any other guy. Also ITA agree with the person that says this is a typical Hight School relationship. Scary but true. But Lauren is so much more mature than a teenager I am sad that she gets wrapped up in all this.
Also I loved how she brought that huge black duffle bag purse that Jason gave her to New Years Eve. I know that she only wore it that night because Jason gave it to her. And while it was nice and I am sure she loved it I doubt that she would have used it for New Years Eve if he hadn't given it to her. I kinda thought it was cute.
ETA: I love Heidi now too. That was sweet of her to leave with lauren. I like her now.

I'm totally on the Heidi love train after she chose to leave the party to be with Lauren. I think Jordan deserves props, too, because his New Year's Eve was ruined, too. Even though most guys aren't as sentimental about the holidays as their female counterparts.
Did anyone notice that when the guys were getting out of the limo Jason had two "cigarettes" one was in his mouth and another was in his hands at the same time. I paused my DVR thinking it might just be the editing, but you you see both cigarettes in the same frame. I doubt he was holding the other one for Jordan (I'm not sure if he smokes) because he had it in the hand that he was using to hold all the flowers and it didn't seem like Jordan had his hands full and surely there were ashtrays in the limo. I've heard that if you smoke a cigarette while smoking marijuana or if you smoke a cigarette imediately after smoking weed it intensifies the high. I wonder if that's what Jason was doing.
Last thing, how cute was it that Jordan gave Heidi one of the flowers from Jason's garden? When Jason came back in the picture and gave Lauren the "tree" she said that her dad said that "flowers mean I'm sorry and chocolate means I love you." I guess this must mean Jason's really sorry.
I'm way too invested in this crap.

I did too. That's why I can't be too hard on Lauren and say she completely crumbled when he came back to her. It was obvious that she was still terribly annoyed and basically decided to go with the whole JasonIsSorryAndBroughtYouFlowers crap by the sheer "force" of Jason's begging.
I agree with an earlier post and believe when the relationship is under a microscope for the whole world to see, it will be easy to think Lauren is a fool for being with Jason, or that Jason is an awful boyfriend. We can be sanctimonious all we want but the truth is there is nobody who can claim to having been in a relationship who hasn't had to compromise a little of his or herself for the other person. It's an ugly truth, but truth nevertheless.
Oh, and Heidi is great!

Poor Lauren. I dated a guy like Jason once so I totally can relate to being in love with a total renob, I'm sure the good times make it worth it in her mind. That mind-f*ck where he acts like she is always making mistakes when actually he is being ridiculously jealous for no good reason is a good indication that he is still a cheater.

I'm boarding the HeidiLOVE! train after last night. That was a very nice thing she did for LC, ditz or not.
Jason IS an ass. I agree with everyone here who is worried about LC. Gossip says that she doesn't really talk to anyone from Laguna anymore and last night my inquiry was answered, because it's obvious as hell it's Jason who doesn't really LET her interact with her old friends. I hope she dumps this looser, because after last night's episode I don't see how her parents would approve of their relationship.

Or she could be a good friend, plain and simple.
I've never seen her just be a good friend to anyone on the three years she's been on television, and I've never seen her pass up an opportunity to be melodramatic and mopey, so that's what I base it on. I don't think Lauren is a terrible person or anything, she just annoys me.
I don't know, I guess I just don't view anything that Jason has done as all that heinous. That fight was ten times more tame than the aggressively psychotic Kristin-Stephen fight from LB1, and I don't think Stephen's abusive. I could be totally wrong though, because there was that rumor about Jason slamming Alex M.'s head into the wall.

I officially love Heidi. What she lacks in work ethic, she makes up in loyalty.
I'm not quite on her love-train yet but she did come through for Lauren last night. I'll stop short of nominating her for sainthood because, hell, that's what your friends are supposed to do.
As for Lauren...if I were her, I would not be waiting in the basement for him, no matter what he said. Turn the cell phone off, go out with Heidi and let that asshat come down off of whatever he was on. Wilted flowers and a sloppy kiss that he won't remember tomorrow do not get that boy off the hook.

The more I watch this show the more I dislike LC. She needs to dump Jason ASAP. He's unreasonably jealous, controlling, threatens to break up with her, tells her she's always making mistakes in their relationship, is an obvious druggie, is living off of his parents/grandparents' money, has no future.. is there anything good about him??? I don't know why any girl would let herself be treated like that. I don't care if he always makes it up to her. You can fake being sweet, but you can't fake being an ass.

Well, all of the wasted hours I've spent watching this ridiculous, tedious, heavily scripted, heavily edited "show" finally paid off when Jordon slipped and cracked his ass. There is a God after all.
Something tells me that adorable puppy is either already dead, or at least doomed. Yeah, Heidi was nice last night, but that's what a friend is suppose to do. Plus, I don't think that Heidi lets the camera stray too far from her and probably figured she'd get more exposure giving Lauren a shoulder to cry on than she would succumbing to her inner partywhore (well, outer, really) and staying at the club. Heidi is still a massive moron, imo. And a dog for Xmas? Kind of makes me think of all of the stupid parents out there who do the same thing for their 5 year old brats and 3 months later you see those dogs at the animal shelter up for adoption because little Johnny just couldn't handle the responsibility. Poor dog. I can't help but think that Bella ended up just being a passing fancy for little miss featherbrain.
Lauren's hair did look good last night...but only because it looked like she actually bothered to wash it and give it a proper blowout for once. Didn't she get her hair colored? I ask, because she was still sporting some tragic looking roots on New Year's Eve. Warren Tricomi should be embarrassed.

I know, and that's what I found so baffling. I get my hair colored the exact same way (honey blonde lowlights with buttery blonde highlights) and I don't have roots on the highlighted sections immediately following coloring. I know that the whole point of blending the various colors is so that there isn't this severe root as the hair starts to grow out, but hers still looked half-assed to me. Maybe it was just the lighting...
I'm beginning to wonder if Lauren is sampling some of Jason's blow, because she is starting to look a little rode hard and greasy herself.
Jason is one thoughtful dude, sucking down a cigarette a mere minute before he plans on laying a hot NYE kiss on Lauren. Sexy. I can see why she can't resist him. Jobless, mumbly, and probably stinking of sweat and cigarettes...mmmm mmmm, who can blame her?

Aw, I don't think Heidi's a moron. I think she was genuinely being a good friend to Lauren, once again. She had her laughing and joking by the end of the cab ride, and I think she deserves an award just for that, seeing as how serious and melodramatic Lauren is ALWAYS.
When Jason grabbed Lauren's head and said that really awesome line about just not talking and listening to him, he seemed really forceful. I would have no trouble believing that he gets a bit physical sometimes. I'd also have no problem believing that Lauren would stick with him even if he did.

Oh ok..so its been not even 2 years yet. That seems more right.
It's been three years of her life. The second half of her senior year of high school, her full freshmen year in college and now her full sophomore year in college. So, yeah two and half years of her life has been filmed,
not three. That would make her ridiculous.
Anyway..I think Lauren has been a true and normal friend to Lo, Heidi, and Jen, at least from what I've "seen" - she's as good of a friend as anyone else I've seen on these shows.
Granted the storylines usually revolve around Lauren, so we're likely to see the bits that pertain to her life, but she seems too self-absorbed to be a good friend, in my opinion. When she does decide to care enough to spill out some helpful "advice", it always comes off as condescending and judgmental in my opinion. It's usually accompanied by heavy sighing and a bored demeanor, but that is Lauren's default state so who knows?

The first part of Lauren and Jason's fight was totally genuine, but after Lauren got in that car and started in with the calculated lines like her tearful, unblinking "Happy News Years Jason" it was all so completely over-the-top that I had to watch with one eye closed. He is an ass, but she is such a VICTIM. ALL THE TIME. I literally cannot remember an episode of LB or the Hills where she hasn't been the victim of someone else's behavior. So I just watched the episode (after reading the posts from last night) and I gotta say it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was gonna be from reading the posts here.
Lauren stood up for herself and walked out on him....yeah she caved when he came racing towards her with a giant boquet of flowers (and a cig - ew) crying 'I love you!' 'I'm sorry!..but so would like, most everyone..except for a few hardass bitches who want to put on a drama show..I suppose.
The only parts I rolled my eyes at were Lauren's stupid ass pout, not once, not twice, but THREE times (maybe she has a thing for threes?) and its super annoying how every damn time they show the girls apartment that goofy ass text slides onto the screen letting us know those are "Hillside Villas - West Hollywood" ... its not a cast member ... I hate that.
'04, '05 and '06 is three years.
On my calander and according to my math September 2005 was last year, also known as
one year ago (less than a year technically) and September 2004 was not quite
two years ago. One TV show season does not equal one year (just ask Donald Trump & Mark Burnett) and what I was saying was it didn't seem like it had been 3 years ago since Laguna premiered.

I completely respect your opinion and sincerely applaud you in taking the high road in your TV viewing, but I'm not sure if TWoP would exist if others, including myself, felt the same. It is television
without pity, after all. For me, the only reason to watch this show is for its snark factor, but that is of course just my opinion. None of the people of this show are evil, that's for sure, but they are all so laughably directionless (but who isn't or wasn't at 19?) and one dimensional that I simply can't turn away. Same thing with Jason and Lauren. I don't think either relationships are particularly unhealthy. I think both couples are just young and immature.
I like Heidi when she's being a loyal friend but her ditzy bullshit gets really annoying. I worry for that dog. You just know she won't take care of it at all.
I don't think Lauren is a dumbass. Obviously she has good times with Jason but MTV is always only going to show the fights since that's entertaining. In fact, Heidi's one bright moment seems to have explained alot about Jason. I think he's jealous because he's cheated on past girlfriends and doesn't want to be in the position of the cheatee. Doesn't make it right, but it gives him a motive at least, instead of just being a random asshole.
I also take issue with the fact that Lauren seems like a victim. Just because she fought with her boyfriend and then took him back? I thought she stuck up for herself really well and didn't just lay down and take it. I also thought it seemed like she hugged him at that moment but that it wasn't the end of that fight by any means.
I like that The Hills shows girls getting along not back stabbing each other or stealing each other's boyfriends. That's the one thing on LB that really got on my nerves.

I do remember last season where someone speculated (i can't remember if it was on this board or on the show) that Jason had been physically abusive with either Jessica or Alex M. last year. When he grabbed LC's arm like he did at the benefit it just made me wonder what was going on behind the scenes.

Jason is a dick. We've seen his jealousy paired with cheating in the past, and I can't imagine why LC wants to stay with him. Particularly after the line about "Shutting up and listening and doing what she was told." That's a major red flag. He is gross.

I think she apologized because she just wanted the fight to be over with and she obviously didn't want to fight on New Year's Eve. And that was only after arguing with him repeatedly that she had done nothing wrong. And since she totally left his ass flat there, yeah I thought she was sticking up for herself.
And since we don't know what happened after that kiss it's all speculation that she let everything go. She could have also thrown him out on ass after taking the flowers. We have no way of knowing.

Good point. I think I wasn't concerned with Heidi being yelled at in that ep because I was hoping her boss would do it, but you're right, she didn't deserve to have
Jordan yell at her.
