What was with Izzie wearing earrings in the OR? What if one drops into a body cavity? [/quote]
I'm guessing hilairty would ensue, on the show. In real life, not so much.
I found this episode to be pretty well done. I really liked the story of the elderly couple, the always interesting Christina and Burke, Addison and her friend was very well done and the relevation that Bailey is going to be a mother was great. The rest of it was just okay to me, and I still can't decide if the elevator scene at the end was creepy or sweet.

Oookay. This episode triggered some of my fucking issues.
I don't know if I'd make the choice that Addison and McDreamy's friend made. Actually, I think I probably would, but I don't know. But you know what? It's her fucking body. It's only hers. I'm sure that Izzy has all manner of angst stemming from the terrible pain of being pretty, but it has absolutely nothing to do with her patient. And McDreamy had no business being in the room at that conference if he couldn't support his patient in her choice.
Meanwhile, I am amazed that Izzy seems to have got through med school without realize that, unless she dies very prematurely, she will some day go through menopause. It's not a fate worse than death. At least, I certainly hope it's not, because it's going to happen to me, too.

God the Burke/Xtina scene where he's barely touching her hand as she saws... totally Hot. So cute.
"Best date ever!" heh!
Loved Alex' "I like your rack" speech... loved Izzie kissing him.
Loved the old couple.
Thought McDreamy looked heavenly in the elevator. But what a prick, being all pathetic and 'pay attention to me, Meh'... but once you tell me you miss me, i'm going to body slam you against the wall with "I can't". Ass. I know he's hurting too, but stay the fuck away from her and quit trying to get her to talk to you.
Addison and the whole friend's would be cancer plot... eh. McDreamy and Dr. Mrs. Dr. McDreamy together? The 'we don't like each other' chemistry is off the charts.
MomaBailey! Woo!
I thought George needed to go up to psych and have a session to deal with his near death experience.
Is it next Sunday yet? Cannot wait for Thanksgiving at Meh's.

I missed the beginning--so it was just a zit under the Hello Kitty band-aid? Heh. Although I don't get why people do that--but then, I've never had flawless skin with a single zit to be dramatically bandaged, so what do I know?
I wasn't feeling this one as much as I have been, over all--maybe because this one, for whatever reason, distracted me more with, "but, really?" questions. Like, I was all distracted wondering if that kind of pre-emptive surgery would be covered by insurance, for instance--at what point does that shift from elective to medically necessary? Or if they'd require some kind of counseling or something for a pretty radical decision. I don't know--it felt to me like it was straining to make a metaphor to McD and Addison, but it didn't quite come through to me--nor did Izzy's reaction, completely. Although Alex trying to be "sensitive" was amusing. I wasn't feeling George's story this week, either.
The elderly couple were adorable, though. And I was glad to get confirmation, so to speak, of my sense that McD basically did run away from New York leaving everything totally unresolved, which helps me understand his behavior--although I still think at this point he's got to sack up and do SOMETHING. And by "something," I do not mean smelling Meh's hair and then whispering, "I can't," because, while hot, that is singularly unproductive. I still like Addison, and I thought the moment with her friend at the end (what was the lady's name? I kept hearing "Savvy," which made me think of Johnny Depp-esque pirates) was nice--when friend was talking about growing old with her husband, the look on Addison's face as she realized how she might have sabotaged that--beautifully done.
Meredith's eight-grade English teacher needs to shut up, retrospectively.
Cristina is indeed hot, but I really covet the dark red dress she tried on before the purple one. (But I was thinking the same thing during Desparate Housewives--form-fitting satin does very few people favors, I think. Not that I'm one to talk, six months pregnant and all.) "Best date ever!" Hee.
I did not see the Bailey pregnancy thing coming AT ALL. I REALLY hope this show doesn't fall into the "pregancy=teh KRAZEEE!" cliches. But seriously, wouldn't Bailey be the most ass-kicking mom?

This is a first for me. George really annoyed me during the first half of tonight's episode. That's the first time I've seen him so effin' self-absorbed that he couldn't buy a CLUE about what the patient was feeling. I know, carpe diem, yada yada yada. Still, I'm glad Cristina told him to cut it out.

Could I cry a little more at the old couple?
Also, starting to feel the Alex-Izzy relationship. I'm glad because at first, it seemed very contrived.

Hey George is, if one things about it, the only character on the show a) in love (well of sorts) and b) not totally nuts.

"I can't"
Well, I can't believe that is all McDreamy had to say...esp when he was whinning earlier in the epi that Meh did not acknowledge him.
Though McDreamy makes my heart jump...tonight he made my blood boil.

I don't know if it's covered by insurance, but some women definitely do it. There was a journal in, I think, Slate not too long ago by a woman who was making the same decision. She ended up getting her breasts removed but not her ovaries, and one of the things she talked about was how people seemed much more upset at the idea of her losing her breasts, even though having her ovaries removed would have much more profound effects.

First impression... I'll have to re-watch soon:
Loved the old couple.
Having a hard time believing that the best alternative for that woman was removing all her parts. Can't she wait 5 years or so, have the children they were trying to have, while getting regular check-ups, and once they were done creating the family they wanted, go through with the procedure? Moreover, does that truly remove the chance of one getting cancer? And yes, I know that wouldn't make for good tv.
Why was Addison wearing her lab coat over street clothes?
"Are you kidding? That was the best date ever!" is too funny!
"I can't". Unfortunately she couldn't see his reaction, but we could so I give him a thumbs up for that. The last thing I want these two to do is to hook up with her now knowing that she's married and him officially working on his marriage out of obligation... which at least he finally admitted out loud to his buddy.

I guess it was his turn for self absorbtion. Maybe he IS destined for Meh. ;) j/k
It was a good episode. But was it me, or did it seem like that scene with Meredith and George at the end was badly edited?
Also, Alex and Izzy bore the crap out me.

I felt the same way, which is odd, because I adore George. But still, you would think George would know when to shut his mouth already. Or at least figure out when its appropriate or not to say something to the patient when they clearly are not in the mood to hear it.

#1: surgeons are in elevators ALL THE TIME. They've got patients on a million different floors, patients in preop, patients in postop, and patients in the ED. It doesn't surprise me at all that McD is SHOWN in the elevator all the time. Maybe the only MDs who run around more are consult/liason psychiatrists.
#2: Yeah, we can wear earrings in the OR. The thing that we usually don't wear in the OR are nice rings--they can poke through the gloves, and you're washing your hands all the time, etc...
#3: ahh, the elevator scene at the end...he really said "I can't"? How sad. :-(

Just wondering about the previews:
CTV showed us some Turkey prep/Yang clamouring for liquor. Did ABC (as per last week) show something more juicy?

I actually had a problem with the old couple not acknowledging their loss, but instead lying to each other until the wife dies. It would be much healthier for them to grieve together ahead of time AND go to Venice to celebrate their love for one another. Just my thoughts.

Hee! Dude, when are the writers gonna give Meh a break? I can't believe they gave her the "cute" zit over band-aid storyline during the CANCER episode. How .... Meh! So classically Meh. And that's not a compliment.
I love George, too. I can't believe he annoyed me so much for most of the episode. His looking for Daisy redeemed his earlier asinine-ness only slightly.

I thought George could've tried a little harder with Daisy. Like maybe mention the guy was in surgery upstairs and she could possibly wander up there to the "sick people" to see him if she wanted. But since he died, I guess that would've been bad.

Am I the only one that was really irritated by Meh saying "I miss you"? She didn't know he was married. So the first part? All on McDreamy. But now that she's found out, and she made her admittedly effective (and I still can't believe the writers managed to pull that off without making Meh seem completely pathetic and instead made her seem sort of brave) speech, she has to butt out. He's married. No "I miss yous"! It's just wrong.
I could see the whole Izex end scene coming, but it was still done well. I'm climbing board that train. He's growing on me.
The double masectomy, complete hysterectomy thing? *shudder*. What a terrible thing to have to decide.
ETA: loved the whole awkward date scene. "You eat red meat?!" "You don't?!"

LOL. I know! George flipping out doesn't seem half as lame to me as a grown ass woman covering her zit with a bandaid.
