I don't have any such high hopes or dreams regarding this show.
Oh neither do I. And yet, I keep coming up with wishlists. Like this one!
Next week, Clark kills Lex. For real. Just gives him the old phallic symbol of death. Next season, Clark mourns a little. Sure, the guy was a jerk, but they once were friends. Plus, killing Lex totally stained up Clark's favorite shirt. But then, when all hope seems lost, the
real Lex shows up! The one who's been in suspended animation since the end of S3. He knows nothing of the Krystal Kwest or French witchery, or heterosexuality. When Lana comes mewing up to him, he runs away from her, "Ew cooties!" Lana, now without a boyfriend, ceases to exist. She just vanishes and no one asks after her.

Ah yes. Your famous "Every episode since Memoria has been a kryptobath induced halluncination." That's one reboot I can live with.
That or this Lex is a royally defective clone. The real Lex is in Europe somewhere where he has to filter is blood daily through his nipple clamps. He crashed there when Clark ripped open that plane of his. This Lex also saw everything that Clark has done to his plane and is plotting to stop this all-powerful-yet-easily-brain-washable-alien. He's just waiting in the shadows trying to cure his condition while trying figure our how to stop these kryptonians from conquering mankind.

I just popped over to the Supernatural forum, and everyone there (and a few here in the Meet Market thread) are just on different stages of 'OMG!OMG!OMG!Wow!' after seeing the season finale. Everybody is in shock.
I'm so totally jellus. I can't watch SPN, so I want Smallville's season finale to be just as squee-worthy. I want to be going 'OMG!OMG!OMG!' after it's over. And then I want us to all come on over here to the boards and go 'Oh my God! I can't believe they killed off Lana! Wow!'.
Ok, ok. Fat chance. I'll settle for a nice, big, wow-worthy season finale. Please, please? Pretty please?

I love your reboots, Reynolds and Cyb. My reboot is that everything since the S3 finale and Clark getting sucked into the cave wall is Jarnelle showing the BDA what will happen if he continues down the path of asshattedness. When Smallville finishes, Clark will fall out of the wall to find only a few seconds have passed since he got sucked in. Horrified at the future he has seen Clark will superzip his Dad and Lex to the hospital, all the while deciding to be a better person. When Lex is better the Clex will run away together, as far as possible from Lana, and live happily ever after!

Great reboots, everyone!
I would like an episode that clarifies whether Lionel did or did not kill his parents. It would be cool to see a flashback set in Suicide Slums, with a young Lionel & Morgan Edge. (This being SV, they'd probably be fighting over Lana's grandmother played by KK in yet another bad wig.)

I think Lionel's confession in Truth sealed the deal for me: he did it. That Bastard! But Great Big Honkin' WORD to wanting a young!Lionel episode,

Now, that Season 5 is over, I thought I'd look over the thread and see if we got some of the stuff we wanted. Turns out a good number of us did. I sorta got something on my wish list in Mercy when Chlarkex worked on a problem together which was pretty fantastic as I thought it would be. While I didn't get a Chlex kiss, I got a Chlex tussle and some really heated Chlex exchanges which is a lot more than Season 4 provided.
My Wishlist for Season 6
1) Chlois
2) Chois
3) Chlois
4) Chloe to get some action both as an investigative reporter and as a young woman.
5) Pete, Gabe, Chloe's mum, Lillian, Chad the Goth, Bart, Bittleman, Kaaahhhnnnn, Perry,Martha's dad, Kevin Grady and Kyle Tippett to show up on screen again.
6) Make Nois go away permanently
7) Let us see Lex's abs more. ;)

This is my shallow wishlist:
1. Give Martha a haircut. Seeing AOT in the upfront pics in the media thread just reminded me of how much I've hated Martha's hair lately. The shoulder length bob she used to have was great. Maybe something shorter with a bit of wave to it.
2. More bounce to Chloe's hair. I got my wish last year of seeing her with longer hair but sometimes they iron the life right out of it.
3. About two pounds less makeup on Lois if she has to be around at all.
4. Make Lana invisible for the entire season. Sure, she's pretty to look at, but I'd have to do a lot less ff'ing if she just weren't in scenes. Plus, it'd give KK more time to work on movies or whatever.
5. No more girly bangs or pseudo mullets for Clark. And burn the Horrible Red Jacket. Burn it, lock the ashes in a safe, dump the safe into a river. Then hurl the river into space. It must DIE.

I wish that the kids had only spent 2 seasons in HS. If they were 14 (TW was like 23 for the first season) why the hell were they driving? Did killing off 20 or so Crows really make the show better?
Shit like how Lana runs a buisness while she is 16 wouldn't have come up. Lana's weird living situations also wouldn't raise so many questions. Pete moving would have been a sign of them growing up and moving on. Keep them all at the local junior or community college for 2 more years. Then they could use the wormhole back and forth the Metropolis for season 5.

The jacket should trade its life for Clark's in the PZ.
If they were 14 (TW was like 23 for the first season) why the hell were they driving?
Okay, this I can excuse to an extent. I think there is a special license that teenagers under 16 can get if they live on a farm and as such have to drive in order to help run the family business. I could be wrong but I thought I remember hearing about that.

6. Christ! How could I forget this one?: Please! Could we get some music up in this mofo that isn't on constant MTV rotation? How about some Sparklehorse, or PJ Harvey, or Wolfmother? You had Depeche Mode on there...How about some f'n Smiths?! Joseph Arthur?!

Cyb's list, especially
5. No more girly bangs or pseudo mullets for Clark. And burn the Horrible Red Jacket. Burn it, lock the ashes in a safe, dump the safe into a river. Then hurl the river into space. It must DIE.
WORD, a hundred times over. No more Red Jacket for me. My eyes can only take so much pain every week.
2. End of the Chlana 'friendship'
onscreen. I want a nasty, bitchy end. I wouldn't mind seeing Chloe pull Lana by the hair and call her a nasty, lying, self-centered bitch. But since that's never gonna happen, I'll settle for Chloe giving Lana the cold-shoulder. Followed by her (Chloe) ending the friendship.
On her terms.3. Chlark.
4. No Clana, relationship or not. I don't care if they continue with Lexana, but please. No more Clana. Which will take care of my other two wishes - no more pathetic barn scenes and no more Clana-induced angst.
5. Superman-y Clark, doing something selfless and heroic every once in a while. He's been showing traces of that Superman-ness all season. I just want a little more of it. That's all I ask.

Yeah I think we've been anvilled over the head enough with his blue-red combo. Yes, he's going to be Superman. I get it! I got it five years ago! If they still want the primary colors, let him alternate. A red t-shirt one week, a blue button-down the next week.
3. Chlark.
I've been off the Chlark ship for a while, but if they went with it, I'd want Chlark
with conditions. No Clark pining for Lana while he's with Chloe. No Chloe sacrificing her new relationship so that Clark can be with his 1truluv. No contrived HypnoHo style drama. No bizarre personality shifts where Chloe is suddenly a high maintenance girlfriend who can't handle Clark being a hero for everyone in the world. If I feel reasonably sure these things won't happen, then I'd consider
maybe getting back on the ship.
End of the Chlana 'friendship' onscreen.
That really,
really needs to happen. And I don't want it to end because Lana dumps Chloe for "stealing" her exboyfriend. I can all too easily imagine her whisper-hissing, "I knew I couldn't trust you!" while Chloe looks gutted. No, Chloe just needs to put her foot down. No more acting like Lana's personal doormat.

2. Chlark. And if I can't have Chlark, Clori (Lori Lemaris), and if I can't have Chlark or Clori, Clois. Just let Clark have a relationship with someone that isn't Lana. Chlark being my STRONG preference
3. Very, very few Clana scenes. And if she bitches at him, he's allowed to give her a "talk to the hand".
4. Clex confrontations, but let them call each other on their bullshit.
5. Lois, use her or lose her
6. Happy!Clark. At least a few times. Some life affirming moments would be a good thing for him. More heroic saves.
7. Chlana smackdown. I never bought they liked each other, let them get down with their inner bitches
8. No Mionel romance. Scenes? Yes. Romance? Wrong
9. Clancy Brown. As anyone.
10. Bring back some familiar faces. Top of the list: Perry White, Bart, Victor, Andrea, Helen, that Myx guy, Gabe Sullivan, Clark's grandfather, General Lane

I have to agree about having Clark doing something "Super". He is damn near invulnerable (except for kryptonite of course) but he acts like we (Lana) should be impressed when he stops a bullet (that Lana didn't even know he did). That would be like me bragging that I stopped a balloon sword.
Right now I don't see Clark as super at all. Much less in the same league as any of the other Supermans. Reeves, Caine, and the animated Superman all were Super. Sure he has powers but Superman has always been more than the most powerful superhero. He has had the greatest moral center and was willing to die to protect even his enemies. This Clark is nothing like that.

1. The end of Clana. Seriously. After the verbal castration Clark took in Vessel, I cannot imagine any way these two should be in a room together, much less in a relationship. Yes, Clark feels responsible for Lana. Yes, Clark blames himself for Lana dating Lex, and I am sure she will blame him too when Lexana ends. No, after five years, I no longer give a fuck about any of this angst.
2. Chlark. Even if only for a few episodes. Throw us Chlarkers a bone.
3. Make Lex competent. Our future world-class villian still has no security, is routinely outsmarted or betrayed, and recieves almost as many head injuries per episode as Homer Simpson. Lex does not need to always succeed, but neither should he always lose. Look at Ageless. The episode as horrible, but at the end, Lex has the data from the amazing exploding baby, which he promises Clark he will share with the world. When a lacky asks Lex if he was serious, Lex smiles and replies, "Eventually." Evil but dumb is not as interesting, or as convincing, as mostly-evil and smart.
4. Shirtless adventures of Lex and Chloe. Just because.
5. Useful Lois. Lois is great with Chloe, good with Clark and Mama Kent, and would make an interesting neutral character in the likely Lexana vs Chlark conflict Smallville seems to be setting up for season six. Lois can be great, but having everything handed to her (a la Lana version 2.0) is one of my main annoyances about the character.
6. Less whinny Clark. Seriously - cheer the BDA up. Give him some pie, let him play football, hook him up with Chloe for some lovin'. SDK's talk of "breaking down Clark to build him up" just reminded me of the fine job ME did on Buffy. They broke her down for two horrible, soul-killing seasons, and I am still waiting for the rebuilding. Just lose the guilt, and make Clark happy.
7. More shirtless adventures of Lex and Chloe. Guest starring Stompy.
8. Lana gets what she desirves. Have someone, anyone, call the pretty princess on her crap. Just once.

I'd love for season 6 to have more of an original score, rather than Maroon5 and James Blunt leftovers. People were discussing which pop songs they could use for eventual romantic Chlark moments, but I really hope that they don't use any at all.
Buffy and Angel (sorry, but that's pretty much the only other hour-long dramas I've watched) had terrific scores - of course, Buffy had the wonderfully talented Christophe Beck working for them - with each couple having their own love theme.
If the composer for Smallville (anyone know his name?) is too lazy to write new stuff, there are plenty of terrific instrumental music available (although the really good stuff might be just as expensive). IMHO, when they use Maroon5/James Blunt/Lifehouse, it just detracts from the scene, rather than add to it. Not because it's those bands per se, but... I'm not quite sure, but I think it's the singing that detracts; it all just seems so very teenybopper.

Thank you, Chiriru, I don't know how I could've forgot that it was him. Why isn't the music on Smallville more memorable, then? Mark Snow is terrific - I especially like his work on Millennium (okay, that's another hour-long drama I'm watching).

Pepsinger that is the problem. Reeves, Cain, and the animated Clark were all good reporters. I can see Clark becoming Superman (sort of) but how the hell does the BDA becoming Clark Kent ace reporter?
In all the various Superman series (other than Justice League) Clark Kent is almost as important as Superman. But this Clark is nothing like the other Clarks.
We have had 5 seasons of Clark feeling guilty for causing Lana's parents deaths. 5 years of him lying to her because he thinks she will blame him for them being pancaked. 5 years of Clark not letting himself and Lana move the fuck on.
Smallville has said that it won't be exactly like the other Superman stories. That is fine. But they should stop hinting at Clark Kent ace reporter or get of their ass and focus Clark.

For me, it depends. When the lyrics fit with the scene, I don't have a problem. Take for example the lyrics to "The Reason" in a Chlark scene in
Delete, I believe.
I'm not a perfect person
There's many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know
I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you
I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with everyday
And all the pain I put you through
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
Thats why i need you to hear
I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is You [x4]
I'm not a perfect person

I happen to like a lot of the alternative rock-pop stuff (that kind of stuff really appeals to us middle-aged females, y'know:-), but I like a good score, too. I think the music at the end of "Smallville" is just beautiful, but I've hardly heard them use it. I can only think of one moment where they've used it, at the beginning of the third season. I'd like to hear more orchestral stuff along those lines.
And word to RepairmanBob's comments about the end of Clana. After what she said to Clark in the finale, are we really supposed to think he should still be in love with her? In yesterday's NY Times article, Miles was quoted as saying again that the end of SV would be a "tragedy" because he wound up mortal enemies with Lex and didn't get Lana. The mortal enemies part I get, but how is it tragic for Clark not to get Lana in the end? Hell, I think he should throw a party:-).
