Full Version: Tara & Wil: TAR 2

Hailey
I've looked through every page six times, and don't see a thread for them. Since the original one is lost, I'm tentatively starting a new one...

I got my new Domino magazine in the mail last week. The magazine focuses on decorating and designing and stuff for your house. Anyway, the table of contents has a picture of a tall blonde with a funky apron on. I thought, "is that Tara from TAR?" Turns out, it was!

Items of interest from the article:
  • She founded a new textile company called Funktion in 2002 with her partner/fiancé/husband. (It never mentions their official title, but she is sporting a diamond ring on her left hand. You can't see his hand.)
  • Said fellow, quite the upgrade if you ask me, is named Dave and is 26. Tara is 35.
  • They have a 2 year old daughter named Sierra together.
  • They design/sell mostly aprons, dish towels, tablecloths, baby blankets, beach mats, hammocks, and hampers. I thought the stuff they showed was really cute. It has very much a flea-market, vintage vibe.
Overall, she looks pretty and happy. I think it's refreshing to have an ex-reality show contestant have a successful career outside of "ex-reality show contestant/aspiring actress".

Glad to hear Tara is better. Unfortunately she remains one of my least favorite TAR racers of all time. Her flirting with Alex/Chris whichever one, disgusted me. I hated Wil and she made me feel sorry for him.

Among the seasons I've seen (all but 5 and 6), Tara and Wil were probably my least favorite team. Ikind of suspect it's just a matter of two people who had way too much emotional baggage with each other. I think either one might be OK if not with the other, but I'm not sure.

I don't wish them ill, but I"m glad they're off my TV.

It's funny, I've never met Tara or anything like that, but I've watched the season twice so when I checked out the Funktion site I thought "Well this totally sounds like Tara." Like I'd know. Nice stuff on that site by the way.
RoxieRider
Huh. I'm just watching them right this very minute on GSN. Man they were a hateful team, though I can't help having a little sympathy for both of 'em. They seemed like people just not at all prepared for dealing with anything that takes longer than a few hours to resolve. Hope they both took something useful out of that experience.

Loved the stuff on the site tho. Go her.

ITA with 2 different statements here:

Yes and Yes! I couldn't stand her for always trying to "play with the boys" (ala Kate on Lost) and her "DUDE" and "MAAAAAN". I lived in California for 10 years, and I know it's easy to pick up, I'm now a 32 year old mom in Texas and "dude" slips out more than I want it to, but I really wanted to shove those 2 words down her throat. I didn't like Wil one bit, but I did feel sorry for him a few times. In the Anchorage airport? She goes over and starts showing off on how she "told him off" while hanging on Alex/Chris (?) and the poor guy's just sitting there alone-seeming to hear it all. She should have finished up racing with the damn partner she signed up with, broken it off with him, THEN gotten to know ChrisAlex a little better. I couldn't help but feel a little sorry for the buddy (the other half of ChrisAlex) either. But at least she's out of that whole dysfunction arena now. Now she's got a little Demi/Ashton thing going on.

The other...

Right? I was just thinking, this is sooo Tara.... Little Peace emblem, the whole free spirit feel of the site. It's cute stuff, but I'm surprised at how girly the stuff is. Even the 'Baby' stuff. It should say 'Baby Girl' because there isn't any clothes for boys, nor does there appear to be anything in the making. I have to admit, I like a few of the dishtowels.

Thanks for the update. Like them or not, it's always interesting hearing an update on the former racers. Now, I wonder if Will ever went to Super Cuts and got that 80's hairstyle updated? Eww.

ETA: I can't believe I'm admitting this, but Tara out smarted me. I'll blame it on the fact that it's late, but it took me more than a few minutes to realize her online store, "Funktion" says "Function". I kept think "what is Funk-Tie-On?" I'll never admit it in real life. I got it figured out, didn't I?

ETA-again...: Did anyone look at the Apron names? She's got some named after Desperate Housewives! She's got the Edie, the Susan, the Lynette. But who in the hell doesn't name one after Bree? I'm sure Bree has got quite the apron collection at home. She's about the only one I think wears one on a regular basis. They don't even really fit their personalities, it's kind of funny. You'd expect the Edie to come with built in pasties or something. She's got a Martha (which I'm guessing is after Martha Stewart), but no Bree.

Thank you, Hailey! I finally got around to reading my issue of Domino and thought the same thing you did! I should have come here first, instead of pulling up old pictures of her on the CBS site and holding up the magazine photo next to the computer screen.

I hated Tara on TAR, but the magazine photo of her is great -- she looks relaxed and genuinely happy. Good for her. (And the new significant other is definitely an improvement.)

Question: Do we know anything about Wil post-show? For that matter, did we know anything about Tara prior to this article? Low profile those guys have kept...
graytex
Just watched the bungee episode again and it brought back all the pain of TAR2. This is such a good season overall but the whole Chris/Alex/Wil/Tara thing continues to gag me. This episode was where I realized what a pitiful little boy Wil is and what a miserable harpy Tara was. However, after the successful jump, they actually had 10 seconds of peace and happiness together.

I, too, would love to know what became of Wil after the race. Hopefully he found some happiness in life.
hindymom
This has been driving me crazy since I watched this season on gsn and I finally figured it out. Tara sounds exactly like Genevieve Gorder from Trading Spaces.

Didn't Wil live with Gary for a while? I'd definitely like to know more.

Wil and Lake are the only two "high-strung competitive males" that the show continues to cast who I've actually been glad to see on TV each week - the rest are either boring (Ray, Russell) or partially inhuman (you know who). It helps that they both had tough female partners (though Michelle was really likeable and Tara, imo, was more obnoxious than Wil).

No, I do not know who.

Jonathan, I presume. And I'd debate on the "partially".

Well there's an unexpected twist. I mean I expected him to get pay back on Tara somehow for going off with Alex, but really that's taking things a bit far...

(jk. Although really the idea of the two of them as roommates is comedy enough...)

Does anyone know who the knitter in their life is?

I finally got around to watching their season and they must know a knitter.

I don't want to be mean, but I think Tara looks a bit like Ann Coulter, albeit younger.
Dale
I wonder if these two are rooting for Oswald and Danny, their season's representatives, on All-Stars or not?

Good Lord, you're right. It looks better on Tara, though.

I've been watching TAR2 on GSN (first time I've seen that race) and I thought she looks a lot like Elizabeth Mitchell who plays Juliet on Lost. But I do see the Ann GiantBitch Coulter resemblence too.
Dale
Who's Ann Coulter and how does Tara look like her? I can certainly see the Elizabeth Mitchell likeness, but not the Ann Coulter one.
Idlehands Inc
I'll put this here, because I'm not sure where else it would go. I was reading Season 2 recaps, including the TARCON recap. I didn't see Tara and Wil mentioned there. Did they attend? Did Miss Alli or anyone here get to meet them? I guess I'm just looking for gossip about how they were in person.

ETA: Thanks for the information SeaBreeze341!

Edited again: Thanks Miss Alli. I missed that in the recap. He must have been pretty drunk if CBS didn't want him to leave. I wonder if he is a "fun" drunk? I would bet no.
SeaBreeze341
I don't think Wil has ever attended, but similar to several of the Season 2 cast, Tara didn't attend her own TARCON, but instead, attended a future TARCON.

I met her at TARCON4, and she was very nice and outgoing. Which pretty much means that the person I saw on television differs from the actor in real life, in a big way.
iMissEthan
Who's Ann Coulter
I wish I could ask that question honestly. You're better off not knowing who she is.
Miss Alli
I've met Tara a couple of times. She's...about what you'd expect, in that she's friendly but with a good heap of the "I'm too cool to be here" vibe. I think she's probably okay for people she deems worthy, but she's cool-kid-oriented. At least that's my interpretation.

Wil has never been. We were told by Chris and Alex later that the two of them and Tara and Wil got so drunk before they got to the point where they'd be going to the party that none of them were able to get there because CBS wouldn't let them out. I'm not saying this happened; I'm saying this is what Chris and Alex said. As I think it does mention in the recap somewhere, I had been assured, somewhat darkly, that Wil was on his way for sure, had he not been drunk.

Does anyone know what happened to Tara and Alex?????

Nevermind. Just read page 1 and the whole Function thing. Will and Gary as roomies??? Now there is a reality show.
Dragon Suplex
Wil is probably my favorite of the douchebag alpha males because he was so bizarre. He was a jerk but he was constantly being undermined so ultimately it was OK. My favorite moments were using ALL THE TOOLS to bust open the ice-encased clue, including the flamethrower, and almost quitting (thanks to Tara's harranguing) and his Taxi Cab Finish Line Swerve that failed miserably. He reminds me of a low-level shady guy who tries to double-cross a drug kingpin but blunders that and has the entire underworld sent after him. Great man.
Nell Huxleigh
I would really like to learn whatever happened to him.

I love that final roadblock! He wouldn't use the chisel and he started a fire on the ground and if Tara hadn't shrieked like a harpy it would have ran back to the propane tank and caused a massive explosion.

He also said the most random stuff - like "follow that plane!" Then he explained in 89 words why they were following a plane ... I really liked him, Tara too in a way. I was one of the few crushed by the brutal ending of the season, especially after all of Wil's crazy maneuvers to lose the boys.
andme
Thank God Wil is free from that cow. If I had to hear her shriek-whining voice anymore, I'd throw my shoe through the TV. Wil is a good looking man. I hope he finds someone that make makes him happy and treats him with respect.

Sounds like Tara is trying to relive her youth. I thought she was well into her 40's. I was surprised to read that she's in her 30's.
zuzubailey76
Tara has always reminded me of Tracy Pollan. I can't hate her solely because of this.
