Oooh, my first topic, I'm kind of nervous.

Anyway. They're both young and good-looking. She's sort of a quiet pushover. He's sort of a cocky asshat. (Note the use of "sort of" - the characters are multi-layered, of course). Obviously, they were made for each other.

First date, naturally, didn't go as well as planned ("Seriously!"), but really, we couldn't expect a smooth sailing here. There's definitely still hope for those two! And think of how hot their children would be.
spentcigarette
I like both characters, and as a couple they would definitely provide the prettiness, but I still find myself really, really hating this direction. It's a bit too contrived for my liking.
WesternSkies
I'm never a shipper. Really, I'm not. I could care less who McDreamy picks. I like Burketina just fine, but if they ended, I wouldn't be distraught. But I think Alex and Izzie could totally rock. I may be biased, though, because they vaguely have the same personality types as my boyfriend and I.

Either way, I'm rooting for these two in a big way.
PurpleMouse
I ship Alex/Izzie mostly because they'd be majorly hot together. Also probably because I adore Izzie (and relate to her most out of all the characters) and I think Alex is gorgeous, despite being a complete asshole (though sometimes he's nice! Really!)

I have a feeling something is gonna happen with them this season, despite how their first date went, JMHO.
jstar
I'm in favor of Alex and Izzie, mainly because I love Isobel and any storyline that leads to more screentime for her is aces, but also because I'm all about the misunderstood, wannabe tough guy who is secretly kind hearted and sensitive. Out of all the guys on this show, he seems the most realistic...which for some reason strikes me as sad...oh well.
Enigma13
I'm not really a shipper for Izzie/Alex (Alzie? Izex?); IMHO, they should have some of the characters date someone who isn't another doctor, or this whole thing could get very old and a little incestuous and weird. It is, after all, quite awkward to have to work with an ex.

And while the two of them would be sweet together for a while, they could probably become very annoying, very easily.

On the other hand: they both do deserve more screen time, and an actual storyline.
BostonsKrissy
They're cute but Izzie's going into that "grey" territory where she can forgive and forget all the mean/hateful things Alex has ever done, including posting all of her magazine pictures in the locker room. I'm glad George brought that up, but she should really know better.
rekkidbraka
Lovin' it. She's all "I grew up in a trailer park" and he's all "Iowa style!" Her sweetness, his snark... Two great tastes that taste great together. Let this ship sail, baby!
JohnConstantine
Hate this relationship with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns. Smells like the classic stupid Hollywood cliche of the bad boy redeemed by the love of a good woman, the bad boy who really does have a heart of gold and is just misunderstood.

When in fact Alex is generally an asshat who treats people badly.

Just once, can we not do this story? Seriously, oldest, lamest, fakest cliche on tv...
Bruin4Ever
Alex must stay away from my cookie-baking sexy TV girlfriend. That's all I'm sayin'.
simpatico

I hope to God this relationship doesn't turn Alex all mushy, because I love the bastard and want him to stay a bastard. He's shown just enough vulnerability in the past couple episodes, but that's as far as I want to go. If he loses his snark he'll be boring.
tvjunkie2008
I'm with simpatico on that one. Alex is just the perfect guy you love to hate.
girls can tell
I'm so conflicted on this one, kids. As much as I'm a sucker for bad boys who only *seem* bad, I kind of hate it when they get paired with the good girl. It reeks to strongly of the cliched desire that so many women have to "fix" the damaged guy. Regardless, Alex is just hot enough that I may be taking all this back next week.

Well, the thing is, that cliched desire is quite a regular occurence in real life. At least, in my experience. I myself am most certainly a sucker for Alex's brand of bad boy behaviour, especially since it comes in such a nice package (hee).
Spaz Cadet
I dunno, I kinda got a gay vibe from him last week. I know, the syphilis, the nurse, blah blah blah. But he kinda looked like he was gonna puke when Izzy puckered up.

Maybe it's wishful thinking. I'm just sayin'.
markedel
But it's all about how Alex constructed his evil, evil shell (and got good at being evil) as a protection from his no good, not very nice Difficult Circumstances ™, concealing his inner goodness. No one truly evil is enjoyable to watch. But a nice guy who's good at acting evil, that's enjoyable to watch. And of course they get more play (see George).
tvjunkie2008
I still don't like this pairing, but I may learn to tolerate it, I guess.
tvobssessed
LURRVE.
PurpleMouse
How much did I love the Alex/Izzie kiss tonight? So, so hot. And I love how he said "goodnight" and left the bar.

ETA: Hey, I'm a couch potato now!
tvjunkie2008
Okay, I give. I like them together. I'm still a diehard Gizzie shipper, but that kiss was so hot.
anon
Best. Kiss. Ever.

The look on Izzie's face afterwards? Hee.

And it was just too precious how he ended it off with a "Good Night." Oh, Alex.
WesternSkies
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Back to expand on that soonish.
caermi
Now all we need is a transcription of Alex's lovely kisspeech.

And screen caps of the kiss.

Or a video...with aforementioned speech dubbed over. Yeah.

Would that be too cheesy? *sigh*
anon
Here's what he said:

"For a kiss to be really good, you want it to mean something. You want it to be with someone you can't get outta you head, so that when your lips finally touch, you can feel it everywhere. A kiss so hot, so deep, you never wanna come up for air."
*sigh*
Munchiewoman
Okay, there was a small part of me still hoping for the Gizzie, but it was just incinerated by that kiss.

and the kiss speech? Hot damn.
caermi
Ah, thanks anon.

I'm all atingle now!

This is taking me back to my X-Files Ship days and talk of UST (Unresolved Sexual Tension). There was great build to this. Izzie so dissappointed about being unkissed. And so wonderfully vocal about it. And so many people asking Alex why he didn't kiss her. And his avoidance of the issue.

Then THAT QUOTE.

Then THAT follow up!

Hooboy.
neonbliss
I think my fave part about the kiss scene (besides the HOT kiss) was when she came up for air, and her hair was all mussed up and she grabs her drink and says firmly, "Seriously." I loved that! It was great how it just tied in with last week's rant from her when she was screaming at him "Seriously? SERIOUSLY?!" Hee!

God, I love them together. From the beginning!
WesternSkies
They really did a wonderful thing with the set-up to the kiss, too. By having Alex give that speech to Nicole earlier, all I could think of while he was kissing Izzie (after I squealed like a schoolgirl) was "ungh...he can feel it everywhere."

Rawr!

ETA: Totally, neonbliss. Too cute!
anon
The 'Goodnight' and 'Seriously' just capped it all off. I mean it was just perfection all around.

If they can give it to us like that on the first kiss .. I can only imagine the possibilities for the first time. Because we know they'll be crazily sexing it up left and right. Rowr.
flux
I think Alex was doing most of the kissing, it wasn't like the really I want you in my bed kiss, more like I like you and I'm sorry kiss. But whatever, I'll take that scene anytime.
SleepDeprived
Alex's whole speech to weelchair-chick was really, really nice. *sigh* A jerk he may be, but he really is quite loveable. I actually find him hotter than McDreamy.

That kiss at the bar? Eeeeeeeee! I squead myself silly! In front of my whole family! Who laughed at my sudden regression to adolescence. But I didn't care. Because that kiss was. Hot.

The 'Goodnight' and 'Seriously' just capped it all off. I mean it was just perfection all around.
Word. God, this show just keeps getting better and better.
tvjunkie2008

I didn't hear her say 'Seriously.' But I heard the 'Goodnight' and started laughing about it. Probably why I didn't hear her line.

God, this show just keeps getting better and better.
Best. Show. Ever. After Veronica Mars, anyway.

YES! VM then GA. (then Gilmore Gilrs, everwood, alias, and the oc somewhere after that...) HEE!

I really thought after Alex's "off" day last week, he was bang on tonight! Very snarky and jerky, and cute. Awesome episode!
sarah1225
Ohhhhhmygod. It's the next morning and I still haven't cooled down from that. Alex, come love me, please. Loved the speech, loved his goodnight, loved her 'seriously'. I wasn't really a shipper before but..how can you not be after that? They probably won't last long-term (though I would like for either them or Burketina to be a long-term couple, it'd be a nice change from all the drama), but if they can be that hot after one kiss..bring it on.
Haha I like that someone mentioned VM. I was spoiled for the Logan/Veronica kiss in season one so it kinda ruined it (as much as it could be ruined, which isn't alot, cuz I still get butterflies thinking about it) but this I didn't know would happen. Damn.
but sweet for certain
SQUEEEEEEE!!!
Ok, I won't admit how many times I've re-watched the kiss since last night but seriously? squee.

When it first became apparent that they were gonna go the Alex/Izzie route with them suddenly being friendly in the premiere, I thought it was kinda lame and way too easy and obvious.
Then, the potential HOTNESS of KH and JC superseded the cliche of the pairing and out of nowhere, I was a diehard (like, reading spoilers and bad fanfic) Alex/Izzie shippah!

I love that after we got to see they could be nice and friendly to each other, it all went to hell so they could revisit and use the antagonism that established their chemistry in the first place ('cause I know it's not at all realistic, but that's where all the best t.v. UST comes from.)

People have mentioned they don't like the cliched bad boy/good girl pairing but for a serial television show, I sort of love it. In fact, I love all of the cliches GA employs. It makes for easy, predictable but still completely fun and entertaining viewing. I love that I knew the kiss was gonna happen the second Izzie told Alex off in the hall last night. I love the anvils and the way the music telegraphs the significance of a scene. TPTB don't seem to be gunning for an Emmy. They're just like, "Watch us. We're fun." Yes, GA. Yes, you are.

As others have said, the only thing better than the kiss was KH's entirely different, "seriously." Hee. And squee.
anon
I love them so. Not only do they bring on the pretty, they bring on the tingles too. The good kind.

So, I know we're all still not over the kiss, but another little thing that I just loved last night was when Alex was wheeling around Nicole and sees Izzie and calls after her, he says, "Hey dollface!"

I thought that was just precious. Alex letting a little bit of his romantic side show through.
enchantress
This show really knows how to do kisses right. I wasn't sure if they were ever going to be able to top the Cristina/Burke first kiss from last season, but Alex and Izzie's actually topped that for me.

And against my better judgment, I think Alex is cute....okay, he's hot. I tried so hard not to find him attractive but he won me over.
Bruin4Ever
Against my better judgment, I will allow Alex to kiss my TV girlfriend, as long as it is always that hot.
tvjunkie2008

I think Alex is cute....okay, he's hot.
If I didn't think it before, that kiss sealed the deal.
WesternSkies
Dude, my love for the ModelSpawn kiss knows no bounds. I can't even tell y'all how many times I've rewatched it.

And I, too, loved the "hey, dollface!", anon.

These two make me all smooshy. I hope they stick for a little while, at least.
tvjunkie2008
Loved the "Hey, Dollface." It was the perfect mix of somewhat jerky, but romantic.
gl_shark
I'm in the minority on the 'dollface' line. It annoyed me. It hits a little to close to personal experience.Working at my office, some older men call me 'honey' if they don't know my name.
I know they don't mean offense and I let it go, but sometimes it make the 'dollface' and 'honey' person come off looking like a bimbo. Izzie's not a bimbo.

just a nitpick.
Foamy the Girl
When Alex said "dollface" I thought it was because he knew it would piss her off and make her turn around. Which it did. Otherwise I hated it.

"The Kiss" however, rocked my world...in that "that would totally hurt in real life but watching it makes it all sorts of sexy and romantic" way.

yeah, I think I was just having flashbacks of creepy old guys
kaizee
that was the first thing that came to my mind, too, creepy old guys... but then i watched the episode again (i know, complete GA addict) and i loved it! but then, i love alex so i can't be at all objective... seriously
Aoedele
I never ship, hate it, and lord do I loathe Alex and dizzie Izzie. I loved Alex the ass, the show screws up trying to redeem him. Izzie I hate, so her dying a painful death would not bother me.

That kiss was so bad. Alex was making all the effort, while fish lips Heigl, just hung there all limp and crappy acting.
flux
I'm alright with them as long as Alex doesn't do stupid things ones he gets Izzie. I thought the kiss was okay, it wasn't like the I can't live without you kiss, and I think Alex was doing most of the kissing but whatever, I'll let that slide. I think Alex is going to soften up once he get togethe with Izzie, shame. I acutally enjoyed when he was grade A a-hole.
Beffers

Yeah, I'm sorry. The smooch didn't really do anything for me either. I don't really fault the actors though, I fault the stupid post-Janet Jackson nipple-gate censors. It's hard to do a really smokin' hot on-screen kiss, when you have the no-tongue, no heavy breathing, no mega-openmouthed-really- really-into-it, censors breathing down your neck.
tvjunkie2008
I thought it was great. Izzie was probably caught so off-guard that she wasn't able to kiss back. Of course, I have next to no kissing experience, so not really quite sure how that would work.
Munchiewoman
I can't say I understand the slap, but the kiss was awesome. And this:

Izzy: (babbling)
Alex: Izzy. I kissed you. with tongue. And I intend to do it again and again. Get used to it. End of discussion.(walks away after totally eyefucking her)
Izzy: (grins) Okay.

Just completely, wonderfully hot. It's weird. I don't think alex is good-looking, but man, can he turn on the sex.
