Gracelessly
I want to go for Dr. Model because that was the exchange used in the show.
rekkidbraka
Welcome to the IzZone. But don't call her Cricket.
ottergreen
Merged threads are confusing.

I hope Izzie gets more of a story in future episodes. It looks like that'll be the case, with McSatan pointing out her talent in the OB/GYN specialty.

Is Izzie the only intern we haven't seen totally smashed? Go, Cricket!
Gracelessly
Oh, yeah. I like the nickname Cricket. But I guess if we're calling Alex Evil Spawn we should use her name in the exchange.
AshleyN
I'd like to see more of her character, I think it could be very interesting, depending on where they go with it.

Plus, I'm so jealous of Katherine Heigl. She gorgeous.
tvjunkie2008
I love Izzy and would love to see her paired with George, though Alex is beginning to grow on me.
LingPetunia
Hands down, the best piece of eye candy for the male audience. But I think Katherine Heigl can act too. She hasn't been given the best storylines yet, but I sooo loved the "I hate boys/Boys suck!" thing she said. It was so out of character for her and I ate it up.

"Hateful! Hateful! Hateful!" <stomps FBB pager of utter futility>

GOD, I loved that scene. That absolutely won me over to the KH side of the team. I know there's a mega-SO love-in happening all around but I think the real champ of this show, week in and week out (besides Chandra Wilson) has become KH. She makes you give a damn about Izzie and how she's handling things as a doctor and as a person with feelings. I know I care.

Heh, just thinking about that scene makes me smile.
markedel
Her acting is solid sure, but mostly I like her because she is the hottest one on the entire show. And she's sweet in a way her neurotic/pornstar colleagues inherantly cannot be. And I mean that in the least non-judgemental way possible, really.
medicminx

Hateful! Hateful! Hateful!
I find myself appropriating that one a lot.
But let's not forget her lingerie lecture in the locker room:
MY student loans are paid off!!

Go, little Cricket! And please... Alex is SO not the guy for you...

Ah, bah, agreed. Izzie rocks, just not when her sole purpose is to show what a kind and beautiful soul Alex has.
jstar
Izzie is so sweet. She seems to genuinely care about her patients. Her gentler nature is a little refreshing to me with Doctor's Yang and Bailey (both of whom I also love) running around all super cynical.
Enigma13
Yeah, Izzie is really sweet, esp. compared to the other interns (who spend a lot of their work time griping about their sex lives-- or lack of them). My only problem is that she doesn't really have a storyline going on-- after all, the Alex thing...is lame.
whatthedeuce
First off, is it Izzy or Izzie? I think we oughta establish that right here and right now (as if it's so important). Either way, I love the character and wish she'd hook up with George, who's as adorable and endearing and sane as she is. Her pairing with Alex has been so obvious from the beginning, and it's not at all entertaining. I'd prefer for George to be the geek with the beautiful girlfriend. He deserves a great girl like Izzy just as much as Izzy deserves an awesome guy like George.
CloudyGumdrops
I really like Izzie. Usually the nice ones bore me, but she's my fave GA character. She looks to be the most easygoing of the bunch. KH is a really good actress and so pretty. I want Izzie/George to hook up as well. The actors just have a naturalness with each other imo.
Enigma13
I always thought it was Izzie...but to each his own, right?

I don't think she should get together with George; I dont think they should "ruin" the friendship they have now. That being said, she needs to go out with someone who isn't Alex.

Actually, I think at least one person should be dating someone who isn't a doctor (which is why I liked George/Olivia), or else it gets a little stale.
whatthedeuce
Usually I wouldn't want a nice friendship like Izzy's and George's to turn into a romantic relationship, but in this case, I do. For one thing, anyone besides Alex is better for her. And for another thing, I can actually envision them as a couple, and the thought doesn't annoy me.
Bruin4Ever
You don't spell it, you watch it. Sorry, bad Sixteen Candles reference. Seriously, though, she is so good to look at, I almost feel guilty for watching her. Only not.
medicminx

I couldn't agree more. But remember her hockey-playing BF from last season? Who couldn't understand her need to be around people who were in the same shit as she is?

Well... at the very least, it would be nice if she could date someone from a different department. Whom she wouldn't be running into all the time.

I see Izzie as a younger version of Abby Keaton, (Glenne Headley) from the early 'ER'-- empathy, intelligence, a pediatric neurosurgeon... something like that. Hope they flesh out her character a bit. Preferably w/o the Alex anvils.

Time will tell.

You know that on any show, especially a soapy one like GA, that's too much to ask, right? Since it is, I say stick her with George! He held a heart just two episodes, and I'd like for him to hold Izzie's (It's Izzie according to IMDB, not that they're reliable or anything.) in the future. I know it ain't happenin', but a girl can dream, can't she?
contrarianfreak

First off, is it Izzy or Izzie?
In the scripts, it's "Izzie."
whatthedeuce
IMDB just got something right, then? I might die of a heart attack! Oh yeah, before I keel over, I have to say thanks for that confirmation, contrarianfreak.
teyla
She's smart, sweet, easygoing and hardworking. I love Izzie. She is awesome.
I agree with CloudyGumdrops, KH is very beautiful, elegant and a good actress.
"Rock on." She is great.
flux
I like Izzie and her chocolate cup cakes. In fact, I miss her baking session in the House of Interns. She's good with everyone in the hospital and really does care about her patients. And she's always positive and upbeat.

I think KH looks better with her hair up. JMO.
tvjunkie2008
I love Izzie! Also, glad to see I'm not the only one who wants with George. I've been in that camp since the first episode.
latenitepilgrim
I figure someone should mention: KH is on the cover of the most recent issue of Co-Ed Magazine. Just noticed it browsing through B.Dalton at lunch today.
tvjunkie2008
I've never heard of that magazine before. Huh, interesting.
markedel
Izzie and George=too much overpowering niceness. Plus we'd have to see them feel angsty about each other at some point. I'm not sure it would be pleasant. Perhaps at the end of the series they can marry and have really hot, pleasant kids for McSatan to deliver.

ETA:I like coherance, I really do!
bookgirl71
Izzie seems to wear her heart on her sleeve. And for that, I like her.
tvjunkie2008
My main problem with IzzieAlex is that I really don't want Alex to break her heart. If he does, I will slap him through my television.
whatthedeuce

markedel, please stop. My little shipper heart can't take it. Moreover, the thought of Addison being there till the end to deliver that baby won't ever happen, which makes me extremely sad, so please no more!

ETA: Heh, George's and Izzie's ship should be "Gizzie." I know that's not the way you spell 'jizz' (sorry for having to spell that out ever), but it's close enough. They're officially "Gizzie" to me. Gizzie fo evah!!!
gl_shark

They're officially "Gizzie" to me. Gizzie fo evah!!!
Gizzie fo' shizzie!

sorry. just had to do it.
tvjunkie2008
Yay for the Gizzie. Let's just hope it happens.
whatthedeuce
Fellow Gizzie shippers, let's hope the new ship name catches on! We're going global!

ETA: I've suggested over at the George thread that our official shipper slogan should be "Gizzie or bust!" Anyone else got any smart (ass) ideas?
medicminx
I don't know... I think it's gonna take George a while to get over his Meh-lovin' stage.
Maybe next time she does too many tequila shooters, she could hurl in his lap?

Nah, 'cause he's the kind of guy who'd make sure she got to the bathroom and then, he'd hold her hair back for her. Eww.

I'm still hoping she meets a hot guy from some other department, but y'all are right. Not gonna happen. And yes, more baking sessions at the House of Interns, please!
Bruin4Ever
So is Gizzie said with a hard 'g' (as in go, grant, guard, etc.) or a soft 'g' (as in giraffe, gerund, George, etc.). If it's the latter, I really need my brain to be scrubbed out with bleach about now.
whatthedeuce
Nope, it's the latter! That's why I apologized for coming up with it!
Bruin4Ever
I figured.
whatthedeuce
It wouldn't be as amusing if it was Gizzie with a hard 'g'. That would just sound like '"gizzard," and there's nothing fun about that. We're here to snark so we need a shipper name that's conducive to that end.
Bruin4Ever
Sorry is I sounded as though I was criticizing the name. Quite the contrary, I applaud your spunkiness in selecting this name. Sorry, I again couldn't resist. Again, I need my brain scrubbed out with bleach right about now.
whatthedeuce
No offense taken! I didn't think you sounded at all critical. Now go scrub your brain before we go making more nasty jokes on Gizzie's behalf.

I don't know... I think it's gonna take George a while to get over his Meh-lovin' stage.
I totally forgot that George was even into Meredith, and now I full on HATE the idea of a relationship between George and Izzie. (Gizzie...heh.) I do not want to have to suffer through him secretly longing after that self absorbed twit if he has a real woman like Izzie, and you just know it would turn out that way.
whatthedeuce
Oh God, he'd have to get the hell over Meredith first before he hooked up with Izzie! No one is allowed to want any other woman if they have Izzie as their lady! We want an honest and faithful George for our girl. We will accept nothing less (and neither should Izzie)!
sayhello
Go Team Gizzie! HEE! I don't think that name will ever be not funny. Congratulations, whatthedeuce! You have made my day.

I totally agree that George needs to get over Meredith (aka Meh, aka Dr. McDrunky) before he starts *fingers crossed* anything with Izzie.
whatthedeuce
Congrats to you, sayhello (Cute name!), for having your day made. Thanks for letting me make it!

I want him to get over Meredith before he gets with anyone even if it's not Izzie, which we all know it most likely won't be anyway.
Tabulous
I like Izzie for her compassion and her spunk. I think the Gizzie (tehee) relationship could be a really good one. But everyone is right, George has a long way to go before getting over Meh. Or so it would seem. To be honest though except for that "He'd be crazy not to chose you" or whatever scene, I forgot he had the hots for her. Besides just because two people are nice doesn't necessarily have to mean that the relationship will automatically be boring. Or does it?
I guess that's why I don't loathe the idea of I/A, though it's not far off, especially if he keeps treating her like ass. Before the date when he was being all nice, and we were getting good insight into why he is the way he is I found it more palatable. If he comes clean with Izzie, you know, let's her in it will be kind of typical. Too good girl changes his bad boy ways, and that storyline can be just as boring because it's overdone. If they do go that route I don't think I'll make too much of a fuss as long as when she ready to be in a serious relationship it's with George. Ok that makes sense in my head. Hope you can follow
Attaka
(Sorry for the kind of off topicness in relation to the current discussion!) I had to drop in to say that I really only watched the first season through the promo's week by week kind of inferring what was going on, and they totally made me think the show was all Meredith/McDreamy all the time, every scene or bust! One of the reasons I was so intrigued the first time I watched it was how fleshed out the "secondary" characters were.

Izzie has rapidly evolved into my favorite character just because of how well she is acted, (not saying the other characters are badly acted, her style just appeals to me I guess) and well she interacts with all of the other characters. I love how she can be compassionate with Meredith over all of the man problems, but at the same time be willing to playfully push George around.

I haven't seen Season One, and looking through the quote thread makes me regret that more every day. Some of the quotes from her sound like they must be awesome in context.
whatthedeuce
Tabulous, I got the basic gist of your message. Just kidding, I got it all. I could totally put up with this Alex/Izzie B.S. if I knew for sure that Gizzie would happen somewhere down the road (onscreen and before cancellation of course, not just in my head as the idea's already been firmly rooted there). I hope they don't turn Alex all good guy on us once he Izzie really get together because that's so trite and boring.

Back to Izzie herself, I love that she teases George so much. I want her to tease him thinking he likes someone else when it's really her he's crushing on. That would warm my heart muchly!

And I'm very surprised that a great number of the submissions in the quotes thread are attributed to Izzie. I love her and all, but I never realized others thought she was funny as I did.
medicminx
You see, that is the attractiveness of the character.
You go, huh, model, right, doctor, yeah, whatever... and then she spits out:
Hateful! Hateful! Hateful!
or:
My loans are paid off!
and you think, hmmm, now there's somebody with some substance.

I think one of the other reasons I love Izzie is the fact that she hasn't had an easy life- the trailer park thing from last season, etc. It's the one thing that sets her apart from her fellow interns; she seems to have more of an idea how it is out in the 'real world'... as opposed to Meh and her neverending wah-wah-wah-life-is-so-cruel.

Meh may eventually give up the tequila shooters, but give up whine? Never.
