Is she or isn't she? Only McD - oh, and Mark - know for sure.
tvjunkie2008
They didn't make her completely evil, though. She's just really evil to the DerekMeredith shippers. I would probably like her if she served a purpose other than as an obstacle for the two of them.

Is she or isn't she
O I am pretty sure I could make an educated guess, right after I stopped laughing my ass off that The President of The Addsion Fan Club got to start this topic....hee hee
LingPetunia
She's beautiful, smart, talented, level-headed; of course she is there to invoke hate. Shouldn't have cheated on McD, although I think she could do better.
bria
She's beautiful and snarky and realistic. And the salmon-coloured scrubs work on her. If I had to work with someone like her in real life, she might grate on me, but I think she's a great character.
CloudyGumdrops
I agree with LingPetunia, mostly. I do think Derek/Addison have chemistry. I wish she was a permanent character. She's so much more likeable than the so called lead of the show.
pinkmoon
I like her, actually. I think that she and Derek have some nice chemistry and I can see why they married each other. If they develop her a bit she could be a nice addition to the cast.

The only thing that bugs me about her are the salmon scrubs. What's up with that?
WesternSkies
I love her. And her salmon scrubs. I love Alex, too. Clearly I'm drawn to Evil.
CloudyGumdrops

It's not that uncommon to wear different colored scrubs. My sophomore year of high school I had a health careers class and we went down to the hospital and 'worked'. I saw the doctors and nurses in all different colors, pink, yellow, etc.
ctcasares
Aw. I liked "McSatan" better. "Satan's Whore" seems like a demotion.
chimaera
I totally expected to hate her (figured the writers would go the typical route and write her to be completely unlikeable), so I'm actually really pleasantly surprised that she has non-evil qualities. Love her!
defygravity
I love Addison. I especially love that she is a neonatologist...somehow I can't seem to think of someone who takes care of doughy newborns all day as Satan's Bitch. Also, I love her red hair. And her scrubs.
whatthedeuce
I love Addison and wish she were sticking around. Most people seem to hate her, which makes sense since she broke up Meredith and Derek. However, that's exactly whi I love her. I've hated the Meredith/Derek pairing from the first damn episode and am glad to see them get split up. Unfortunately, that won't last very long since Kate Walsh is leaving soon and the main character is Meredith so she'll undoubtedly get what she wants sooner or later.

Some people hate her because she rather unapologetically cheated with her husband with his best friend on his favorite flannel sheets.
flux
I am not now, nor have I ever been an Addison fan. She's a hobag (thanks Beffs), a manipulative, social climbing, adulterous bitch who cheated on her husband because she wanted his attention *roll eyes*. She's not Satan's whore, she's Satan.
whatthedeuce
Heh, I've never seen so much hatred generated by a character. It's kinda scary but maybe that's because I scare easily.
hellresident
May I suggest you stay far away from the Lost forums then, less you feel like abandoning all hope before entering.

And if Addison really is Satan, then at least we (and by "we", I mean, "I") can take comfort in the fact that she knows how to rock a good pair of salmon-colored scrubs. When she's not placing evil subliminal messages in rock albums.
whatthedeuce
'ello there, hellresident! How goes it with you, my friend? I'm glad you've decided to pop on by and show some love for our girl, Addison! Don't forget that she also kicks puppies in her spare time!
Mexicanguy

Oh no, poor puppies!
Sophia Bee
I have to say that I unabashedly LOVE Addison. She's snappy as hell, super sexy and a good match for Dr. McD. Better than boring old Meh.

The salmon scrubs look like the volunteer scrubs at the hospital I work at.
whatthedeuce
I love her without hesitation, too, Sophia Bee. I think she's an awesome character and will be so sad to see her go.

ETA: She can rock her salmon scrubs like it's nobody's business! Right on!
jstar
I can't decide if I love Addison, or just hate Meredith so much that my only alternative is to hope Addison gets everything she wants in life.
CloudyGumdrops

Why not both reasons? That's the way I feel about it.

I'm with ya Sophia Bee on the Addison love.
SheIsStellar
I really like her. But, I've been known to root for the bitches.
whatthedeuce
I'm honestly surprised that there are even a handful of people around here who like/love Addison. I thought she was pretty unanimously despised by TWOP's GA fans.
spentcigarette
I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes Addison. At first I thought I only liked her because she was the only alternative to Meh, but she's still a great character. While I don't condone her cheating, that doesn't give me the urge to burn her at the stake for it either. She's a great person who made a huge mistake, and she's paying for it. Karma's a bitch. But Addison is not. Remember, she's painfully kind! Even Meh admitted that much.
Beffers
I hate her with the fire of 10,000 suns.

I just stole that line from someone over at the old GA board. I think the person was talking about Alex...sorry if I infringed on someones...umm copywrite..but damm it, if ain't the the perfect way to describe how I feel about McS.

I hate her cake-ed on makeup that you could probably spackle my bathroom with. I hate her O so artfully curled hair, I hate her skin tight unprofessional clothes. I hate that she destroyed McD's realtionship with his best friend all in the name of scraching an itch. I hate that she really seems to enjoy her confrontations with Meh and that she refuses to acknowledge the fact that that when Meh refuses to rise to her baited bitchy, barbs, Meh displays more class than SHE ever will. I hate the way she tried to manipulate Izzy in 2.06, I hate her stupid little smirks. I hate the way she bragged to her patient in the SP about how brilliant she was.

I could go on and on..but I won't. I am tired.
whatthedeuce
She may not necessarily be manipulating Izzy though. Isn't that just speculation on some people's parts or just a vibe they're getting?
BostonsKrissy
Does anybody know how old she is? Or actually, how old McDreamy is? Their relationship makes so much sence to me, even though they have their own foibles. They seem mature to me, while Meh is very naive and too hopeful. Addison is more than intelligent, I feel like she accepted the "cheated on my husband" label but is trying her best to make up for it. And in return the other characters are realizing she is not in fact, "Satan's Whore." Meh doesn't see anything past this label, which annoys me.

Heh, I've never seen so much hatred generated by a character. It's kinda scary but maybe that's because I scare easily.
You clearly haven't met Jackie.

I hate the way she tried to manipulate Izzy in 2.06, I hate her stupid little smirks.
I didn't interpret that as manipulation. I thought she was acting very sincere, as she observed how Izzie was acting and interacting with the patient. I truly believe Addison was trying to urge Izzie to play the role beyond "loyal friend."
whatthedeuce
No, no I haven't. That's a whole lotta hate for someone that doesn't even really exist. Scary people over there, dude.

Why not both reasons? That's the way I feel about it.
Both are wonderful reasons.

What I would like to know is how have the Shepherds been seperated? It seems to me, inspite of her trangressions, McD wasn't in a hurry to divorce her. I would really like to see her stay around, even w/o McIdiot.

Some people hate her because she rather unapologetically cheated with her husband with his best friend on his favorite flannel sheets.
BINGO!!!!!!

She is one cold hearted arrogant bitch. I mean girlfriend, had sex with her husband’s best friend in the bed THEY shared in THEIR home. Who does that and doesn’t WANT to be caught? Also, it is just BLANTANT disregard for the sanctity of their marriage; obviously the cheating is bad enough then the slap in the face to screw his best friend and then the biggest INSULT to do it in their marital bed?? That takes one arrogant bitch!

I really think nothing gets to her. She’s all business and goes after what she wants. Right now she wants her husband, so she is going after him like that. When she gets sick of him again, she’ll probably be screwing Alex in the break room.

Addison is more than intelligent, I feel like she accepted the "cheated on my husband" label but is trying her best to make up for it.
Can you give an example of how she's trying to make up for it? I mean, other than accepting a (temporary) position and asking to get back together. I've seen very little remorse from her.

I don't hate her, but her attitude bugs. She doesn't interact well with others.
Bruin4Ever
She's a leggy redhead. What's not to love?

What makes her interesting is that she's not a total bitch. She may not be the most lovable character, but she's at least nice. And funny. You gotta give her that. And I really like her interaction with McDreamy. I think they have more chemistry than Meh/McDreamy.
JohnConstantine
Well, she does seem to have owned up to her behavior. She seems to have pretty much accepted that she was wrong wrong wrong, and isn't making excuses for it. I think the fact that she hasn't tried to justify her behavior makes her seem unsympathetic, because viewers don't get a look behind the curtain as to her emotions. But it makes me like her a bit more for not trying to justify something that was just flat-out wrong.

She's an interesting character. This is a triangle that I'd like to see stick around for a while.
Sheila Muir

I do too. I think she [Addison] is a strong female character who uses judgment as well as emotions in her relationships. She wants her husband back and regrets her actions, but isn't turning into a complete emotional wreck over it or letting it run her life. She knows what she wants and goes after it, but she knows there is a life and a future for her no matter what. She is the kind of woman I would like to see more of on TV. She, Cristina and Izzie are all great female characters. Meh has a lot on her plate I'll admit, but she's such a wreck I sort of get annoyed sometimes. And getting all her coworkers to say they dislike Addison, even Alex? Immature.

I think Derek made the right choice even if he sort half-assed getting there.
I said this in the episode thread but thought I'd bring it over here. I agree with JohnConstantine that she's owned up to her bad behavior and that she simply isn't trying to excuse it away. I understand a lot of people think she hasn't been apologetic enough, but we do not know what happened between her and Derek in New York. He has to make a decision. She can't pay for her mistake forever.
EolivetB
Does she remind anyone else of Amanda Woodward from "Melrose Place?" The bitchy, love-to-hate character that added spark to the show. I guess because I see GA as a soap-opera-with-better-writing, I think she's been a great addition to the cast.

And I actually 'ship Derek/Meredith.
rekkidbraka
Snipped because everything's been to the scrub-in room.

She may not be the most lovable character, but she's at least nice.
To babies who can't talk back. But rarely to grown-ups who can.
whatthedeuce
I like that she hasn't tried to justify her affair either. I know she said she was trying to get his attention, but I think she knows how dumb a reason that was so she now refrains from any excuses.

I don't hate her, but her attitude bugs. She doesn't interact well with others.
Hee, that makes her sound like an anti-social kid on the playground! Addison does not play well with others.

EolivetB, I don't know much about Amanda since I never watched Melrose Place, but I was thinking of her when I told my sister that Addison's seems like one of those characters that people love to hate. For the record, I love to love her.
flux
As many have already posted, her attitude irks. She just shows up in Seattle, makes that "So you must be the woman screwing my husband" speech and expects everything to go back to normal. If she really is capable of connecting at an emotional level with her husband, she would have realize that he no longer is interested in her.

I know she keeps saying she's sorry for what so did but how many times have we heard that. People apologize time and time again but they keep doing the same thing. She's saying the words but I'm not feeling them.

Her whole delivery was like a broken telegraph, so one dimensional.

I'm sorry. break Sign the divorce papers. break Or forgive me. break
bobsam
Okay, I like her too. But I can't decide how much. Just happy the writers didn't succumb to the temptation to make here a cliche bitch with no redeeming qualities so as to make the McD/Meredith relationship nice and neat. Addison is definitely growing on me.
whatthedeuce
Out of curiosity, do the people who hate Addison think the character's written poorly or written well but in a way that doesn't cause them to sympathize with her? I hope that question makes sense.
Paradise

I made a reference like this in the “old thread”. However, my take on Addison is little different than Amanda. First, I think both are bitches, however, Addison’s character has a much milder personality than Amanda’s did. That is why people do not automatically hate her. It is not like she came into the hospital and was cruel to Mer and all her friend. She’s been professional and quiet… so far. So it doesn’t give people the ammunition to hate her outright.

However, just knowing what we know about her past with McD that is what makes me really hate her. IMO, she hasn’t graveled enough at his feet begging for forgiveness, and yes, in this situation it calls for a little graveling and a little humbleness. Instead she has this smug attitude like “yeah I cheated, so what”. If I were McD, I’d expect some begging, crying, and wailing from her. It’s not like she left the milk out overnight and it spoiled, she cheated!
tvjunkie2008
I don't agree with the cheating at all. But I think she's an interesting character. I hope she sticks around as more than an obstacle for DerekMeredith. I'm really intrigued with the possibility of her as a mentor to Izzy.
Mexicanguy

ITA. I think Addison has the potential to outlast all the Derek/Meh drama and become a great character.
tvjunkie2008
I also hope they move forward with Izzie storyline to give Izzie something to do.
VeronicaNC
TPTB need to beg, borrow, steal, beg, plead, whatever it takes to keep KW as Addison.
wallacb7
I'm on the Satan's Whore Express. I hate her because she made me dislike McDreamy for choosing her. I wanted him to pull a Kelly Taylor and choose himself(or me).
LingPetunia
I have to like her. We hot redheads have to stick together since we are so unjustly underused in show business.
