Now with season 2 back on I look back on Mary and Peach (especially Peach) with so much fondness. Peach is one of my all time favorite racers. I love it when a racer has no travel experience, you expect them to fall apart, and they show themselves to be nice, funny, tough and kind.
I never loved Mary quite as much...I thought she was a little rough on Peach. But she's a great competitor and completely redeemed any roughness with one act of extreme love at the end of their run.
This team is never mentioned for a possible TAR All Star but they would be great.
TAR2 was a great season of locations, travel madness, etc, but the loveable teams like Mary & Peach all made quick exits.

They were my favorite female team on the show for many years, until Linda and Karen. They were also the first female team to make first place without a fast forward, no other female team broke this record until Debbie and Bianca.
Did Mary and Peach ever go to a TARcon?

I met them at TARcon 3 and I believe it's the only one they attended. Very nice people, both of them.

And don't forget -- the Pink Ladies accomplished that feat three times!
Yeah, I loved Mary and Peach. But Peach frustrated me when she simply gave up after the tea task. They could've gotten themselves back into it, but she pathetically quit on Mary when she shouldn't have.
Why did
Miss Alli call her "The Fruit," though? I didn't get it. Still don't. Personally, whenever I heard Peach's name, the first thing I think of is Princess Toadstool.

To be fair I think they both gave up somewhat after the tea task. I know Peach found the task itself quite rough going, but neither of them seemed particularly keen to go on.
I was rooting for them pretty strongly in 2 just because they were the only team I really liked still in the competition by the time they were left. Blake had lost me with his comments about worshipping false idols, and Cha Cha Cha never quite clicked with me for whatever reason. The rest were either bland pretty boys with no necks and big arms or complete assholes (or that bald guy from Thunk). I think I'd probably argue that all things considered they were the toughest all-female team in TAR history (though it's a close run thing with the Bowling Moms.)
And I don't think there's anything more to "The Fruit" nickname than a Peach being a fruit. I could be wrong though.

I always thought that they hit the KF wall and just gave up. I think Mary was too tired to fight it at that point and it was over. Mary seemed rough on Peach occasionally but their exit, taking a moment to enjoy life is a classic (although Phil paid the price on that horrible boat).
Peach is my favorite kind of TAR racer. Unsure of herself but willing to try with very little complaints. She never had to be forced to do a roadblock, she was willing to try, like the bat cave.
Mary & Peach had some classic moments: being told they were going to be killed in Africa, Peach giving sunglasses to the children and tearing up, racing Thunk to the finish line and winning, eating snacks with Cha Cha Cha in the back of a van, their exit. As much as I love the Bowling Moms, I'd almost rather see Mary & Peach in an all-star.

Why on Earth didn't
I think of that? To quote Erika, "[I should've] known. [I'm] stupid."

I thought Mary and Peach's exit was one of the saddest I'd ever seen. If Gary and Dave had just tried to go on without that Fast Forward, there'd have been no Thunk in the final five and we could've enjoyed Mary and Peach at least one more leg. No, two, since the next one was a non-elimination leg.

That's right -- Pat and Brenda used a Fast Forward, and so did Tian and Jaree. But the Pink Ladies also accomplished not using a Fast Forward in all three of their wins.

I loved Mary and Peach, but it seemed pretty clear to me that Peach was done by then. KF didn't turn her into a complaining harpy or interfere with her ability to think clearly, it just kind of shut her down. In a way, that's what I loved about them, since Mary saw that and instead of dragging Peach along with an empty tank just said, "You know what? Let's just take the time to enjoy this, hit a cafe and go out happy." The fact that they did that said a lot and, ironically, made me wish that they could have continued.

I wish they'd brought two TAR2 teams back, so then there could've been a chance we could've seen these two return. Two lovely young ladies who were just a joy to watch.

Personality-wise, I've found the sisters very similiar to the BQs. Dustin is the dominant, decision-making member of the team(think Mary) while Kandice is the bubbly chipper just like the adorable Fruit. The difference is that Kandice isn't prone to KF like Peach and the sisters had far more instances of butting-heads so in that way, the BQs are tougher, improved versions of them. And if the BQs were less alpha, I bet they'd be getting the same treatment from the Chas as Mary & Peach.

I love that, in the ten seasons since their own, they're still the highest-finishing, two-person sisters team. This season's Marianna & Julia had potential to match or even beat their finish, but they ended up being a disappointment.

I know many think of the fruit when they hear Peach's name. I must be young, because I always think of the princess from the Mario Bros. series when I hear her name.

Thanks for finding the thread, Basch. LOL It still doesn't answer my question but that's ok.
I agree with you, about thinking of the Princess on Mario Bros. But I also think of the fruit, too, which is why I could see Miss Alli calling her that. Wish I'd been on this forum when they were originally having this discussion. LOL

To answer your question, I'm not sure if that's her real name or a nickname. It could be a nickname -- Starr of this season's Nick & Starr uses her own nickname (her real name is Emily) -- but it might indeed be her real one.
If Peach is her real name, I have to question what her and Mary's parents were thinking when she was born.

Yah me too! :D
They and the Cha cha's were two of my favorite teams from that season. I was so disappointed when they gave up, but I understood. Poor Peach looked like she just couldn't take another step.
