You said it. If I were there, I'd pull a Toral and say it's against my beliefs, my religion, and my Wharton education to spend a few hours constructing sonic poison.
I didn't mind Kristi getting fired. I figured either of them deserved the ouster.
Marcus sure works hard at not working. Just when I thought he'd figured out the concept of teamwork. I guess a two weeks of slight yet legitimate praise from his teammates and he's back to being too good for manual labor.
If only Capital Edge had known that the name of the product was important to branding. Maybe they should go get some Blizzards and think about how unfair it is that no one told them that.

I think Jen M. was only saved because Trump likes her better and though it might not be fair in the real world, I'm thinking I'm fine with that cause I no longer have to hear Kristi ever again. But next week, that's going to be the week to watch.

I know there will be tons for discussion about which one of the Bloven should have been fired tonight but aside from that, this was one of the funniest episodes ever. I could not stop laughing over Jen's "Zanthura"'s, yes, her whole presentation was deliciously awful but every time she Zanthura'ed, I about peed myself laughing. She was so smile-y and peppy and upbeat as she was saying it and so very very very very wrong.
Also great? When Jon and Movie Exec were delivering the bad news, the bitch face on Kristi was the bitchiest bitch face that ever bitched.
Brian was a hoot and did a damn good job, and their float rocked, so good for him, even though he was a little babble-y in the presentation, he was very impressive. It looks like the reign of the men's team is coming to an ugly end next week though when the teams get mixed and matched. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that it will be THE. MOST. EXCITING. BOARDROOM. EVER!
The only thing funnier than this episode will be the kick-ass re-cap I know is coming!

Oh thank God. No more Kristi, no more Kristi! What an immature twangy twit. Go harumph out of my life, please. And kinda ungracious in defeat, too.
Was there a more ridiculous episode of TA? What with:
--Randall as Excel's "special sauce" (ewwww)
--That reward segment, oy. I want those 2 minutes back. The image of Marcus belting in the mike is burned in my brain.
--Rebecca hopping on one foot while she dragged her case behind.

Holy shit! I thought Jenn was gone. Bill and Carolyn picked her to go, Trump insulted Kristi first, the music was building up, and everything was set-up. Then Trump turned around and fired Kristi. Awesome! Bye, Kristi! Now make like that pretzel Tana, and don't comeback, goober!
I was disappointed in Jenn. I'm glad she admitted her mistakes, and she did a decent job in the boardroom, but she has shown that she shouldn't win. She's on borrowed time.
Speaking of people on borrowed time: Markus is acting like a jerk again.
Brian went from someone I barely even remembered, to someone I like in a hurry. I'm glad he did a good job. But he needs to quit talking so damn much.
Well... that was an interesting reward. At least it didn't happen last seasn. As bad as the guys were, it would have been worse seeing Alex, Bren, or Tana trying to rap.
Randal and Marshawn rocked the boardroom!
I did laugh after the firing. Carolyn looked pissed and Bill was like "WTF?! He didn't listen to me!" Every now and then, it's amusing when Trump goes against the Viceroys.

I'm really glad Kristi is gone. Yipee!
Wow, Jen M really flubbed it. First the presentation, then in the final boardroom when she interrupted Trump I thought she should have just stopped talking, anything more would have annoyed Trump and he might have changed his mind. It also looked to me that Jen was on the point of crying--I kept on thinking, 'if Jen cries it's all over, she's fired'.
You'd think after the DQ fiasco last week, they would have understood the concept of branding.
Is Marcus really that lazy, or was it the editing?
I didn't like Josh at all in this episode. The way he deliberately interrupted Marcus and Brian to berate Marcus, when Marcus had obviously wanted to speak privately with Brian, was just ugh. Not that I necessarily disagree with Josh's sentiment, but still... emphatic ugh for Josh.
I liked Randall and Marshawn in this episode.

So Clay knew enough to let Markus grab the Team Scapegoat crown back. Good. And good for him for not being lazy because of an exemption.
Carolyn hates Jennifer.
That reward was the funniest ever. I'm still laughing. But wasn't Wyclef Jean supposed to show up? Why was Miss Jay Alexander leading the rap?
Kristi - go suck an acorn.
Jen should have been fired too. But they're saving her for the big November sweeps plot where she makes out with Nancy McKeon.
Randall was the anti Pamela for this team. They didn't mutiny against him ,they worshipped him, and not once was he in danger of the axe.

The song! The song is killing me. "Trumping"? No. No. No! I'll be conjugating "to trump" in my nightmares. I'll dream it's my unborn child's first word.
I was ready for Kristi to go when Jen first called her on her attitude during the task, and she was all smirky "You mean bold?" Ugh. Save the fake euphemisms and spin cycle for the boardroom, at least. That just turned me off so much--it's like saying flat-out, "I refuse to take you seriously even for the length of this task." I mean, Markus dealt with the "you're good at ordering take-out" better than that. (Which, incidentally I thought was a sucky and un-savvy thing to say. Funny, but sucky, and spectacularly not helpful. In my experience, it's better to keep people like Markus feeling useful and included, because they'll only get indignant and up the Markus-ness by a factor of 10).
Randal is hot, and tall! That out of the way, I trust his word on the Kristi dynamic, and not just because of the hotness and the tallness. And way to be a total graceless brat leaving the boardroom. That said, Jen M? There's no crying in business, my dear, and you sounded like you were getting real close.
I'll be interested to see how Felicia and Alla regroup minus Kristi. She definitely seemed to me to be a cheerleader for coven-ness. (And as an aside, I hate it when people complain that they hate losing all the time. Like, duh. And everyone else loves it).
That commercial for Trump on Days of Our Lives? You could see the smell the fart acting.

Best line of the night: "It's like Markus injected him with Markus juice!" ...
Couldn't go wrong with firing either of those two, but I thought this time Jen really did deserve to go more. I remember reading that Jen was the one Trump was talking about when he defended his casting of beautiful people, so I knew he wouldn't get rid of her. The first week of the show I saw her and thought "Oh my god, it's a young Ivana Trump!!!" Maybe because of the hair. But really, "We had to cut the legs off the little boy"????????
Did you see Carolyn at the end? I was waiting to see if she'd suck it up and agree with Trump as usual, but she didn't - say - a - word. I hope she's really gunning for Jen next week.
Getting annoyed at the editors - they're really handing everything to us in the first five minutes and force-feeding it down our throats the rest of the time like so many fois gras fowl. Leave us wondering something!

Trump seems to be looking at who has the most "potential" this season and his firings, the Marcus-Chris fiasco withstanding, seem to correspond to that. I did dislike Kristi a ton more than Jenn M, but we didn't see enough of her causing trouble this task to warrant a firing then.

Mmm. Bill.
I love how whenever it's obvious as shit that Carolyn disagrees with The Donald's decision, they never let her talk. But Bill said what she was thinking, both with his "skin of her teeth comment," and with the fucking awesome eyebrow pop he did.
Jen's on the list. Friggin Heather. You KNOW Carolyn agrees with me.
Confidential to Marshawn: You know what's kryptonite to a team? Sucking. Absence. Mispronouncing the brand name. Lack of poise (as a former beauty queen, Marshawn, you and Jen should both know all about POISE). Caring about the "team dynamic" instead of kicking ass.
When people suck because they can't work well together, it's very obvious. They don't get shit done on time. It's not that they fuck up some aspects of it due, apparently, to lack of preparation and/or poor judgment calls. They just don't get it done. Ergo, someone can be a pain in the ass, without even remotely being the reason for the suck. Like Toral, frankly. Enormous pain in the ass, generally ineffective, but not the reason they lost the DQ task. If you want to consider overall behavior, that's fine. But don't pin the loss where it doesn't belong. It just makes you look like the donkey.
Nice of James to tell Jen, "It's not about the presentation, it's about the float," when Favreaust and Exec Who Bought His Soul specifically called them out on the presentation. Someone wants to get into a certain pageant queen's pants.
Likewise Trump, frankly. He's not going to fire the one who came up to him (probably in her "physical fitness in a swimsuit" ensemble) backstage at Miss USA to ask to be on the show. Not until she tells him she's a lesbian, at least. Then? "You're fired!"
ETA: Three things. 1. It hurt my soul to watch short, overcompensating Brian be mean to resident scapegoat Markus so the tall kids would like him and think he was cool. Brian: we all saw what was really going on. 2. Further defense of Kristi: I thought she took Jen M's criticism fantastically well. Saw Jen was struggling for a word, which would imply she was trying to be diplomatic, suggested a diplomatic word, shot down (fairly rudely), and? Her expression doesn't change an iota. That read very graciously to me. 3. Kristi's getting a fan letter from me this afternoon for telling Jen to shut up outside the boardroom. Fan-fucking-tastic.

Where the hell is the rest of the team when the branding conversations are going on? Where are they when decisions about their lame ass presentations are being made? Does anyone speak up? Jen did a poor job on the presentation; however, it looks like people who should have known better didn't say anything constructive.
I guess Randall explained it when he said that people talk, but they aren't hearing each other.

I loved that DT ignored Carolyn and Bill and fired Kristi -- because as bad as Jen M was with the presentation, the Sony people were looking for concept. The director said he knew as soon as he saw it (Excel's float) that they had what he was looking for. The guy from Excel did a lousy presentation too (although he could at least pronounce Zathura correctly!), so it was concept that was the decisive factor. Kristi's concept sucked, she's mean, low-class trash and deserved to go. Neglecting to thank DT et al for the opportunity (don't remember any other firee doing that), and telling Jen M to "shut up" when they left the board room, and her continued bad mouthing during the taxi ride proves she has zero class. That said, I think Jen M's days are numbered.

That was the most pathetic, useless, whoring of a client I've ever seen. I can only imagine that that reward was a quid pro quo trade of some sort. Since when has Wyclef Jean become some B-list hack who'd allow himself to be pimped like that.

I think that was the coolest reward yet. Hanging out with sports teams and giving gifts to sick children? Pfft, boring. (Sorry, kids!) And dinner? What's special about dinner? I eat dinner every night. Playing with Wyclef? (Who whether you like his music or not is very talented.) Hell yeah, that's a reward. That's something you can't just do. (But I'm into music.)
Onto the trainwreck called Capital Edge of Self-Destruction...
The women's team is a disgrace. Trump does this to me every season. Why do the women have to suck so bad all the time? I don't think the women were as bad last time... but maybe that was casting's way of guaranteeing a female winner. (Kendra absolutely deserved it though.)
Kristi sucks. She talks too much and as if her accent wasn't bad enough, she really just says dumb, annoying shit. But let's be honest, the whole job the women's team did sucked. Yet again they missed product placement. Have they learned nothing from the Diary Queen task? (By the way, I've had a latent hankering for a Blizzard since that task.)
edit: Favorites? Marshawn and Rebecca. I can't pick one of the men because they keep winning and working well together. Pfft. But I'll say Clay because I loved the sound of the whip cracking when he was PM. Josh is getting on my nerves as is Redneck Drew.

Jennifer is definitely a much nicer person than Kristi, but she really can't win this after tonight. That presentation was horrifying. She should have never been the presenter, although in the end, the guys' float was so much better, that Capital Edge didn't really have a chance. Jennifer also looked like she was going to burst into tears in the boardroom, and she had already cried up in the suite. She's toast now.
But she did do the right thing taking only Kristi in. No one else really deserved to be there.
I was glad to see Kristi go, because she is horrible, and she can't STFU. I don't think she should have really been fired tonight, but I don't feel too bad after her totally boorish behavior.
Poor Randal. He's obviously trying to be a gentleman, but his face when he was picked to change teams said it all.
I enjoyed seeing Wyclef Jean in the reward, and some of it was cute, but mostly I found it cringe-inducing. Brian's(?) dancing was so dorky, and the guys trying to rap and sing just made me sink down in my chair. I know they were having fun, but there was just something about it that made me want to avert my eyes.
Which one has those glow-in-the-dark teeth? Mark? He's kind of handsome, but his teeth are scary.

Here's hoping that the cab never stops and just drives forever and ever and ever...and stops in the middle of the desert after the finale.

See? Without Toral as an object of hate, the coven turns against itself. I loved Jen M's dissing of Kristi. Jen M. totally escalated awesomely. And Kristi, talk about delusional --" I'm bold." Rock on, Jen.
Loved many things about this eppy.
Trump got in two digs this episode. His voiceover at the beginning was hilarious: "Kristi put Toral in her place. " And then "I'm a little impressed, Brian." Brian totally represented for the fairies, trolls and sprites!
But Trump destroyed the entire effect with his stupid Duh-tastic Lesson of the Week. "You can do a lot of things, but in business, it's all about money." And here I've been getting paid in beads and wampum.
I loved Marshawn's gleeful "Well, hello sailor!" smile when she saw Bill Rancic.
Love Rebecca. Not loving her "Raisa Gorbachev collection" wardrobe. That tweedy boxy thing she was wearing was too aging. In other sartorial matters, I loved Alla's plaid floofy bathrobe for its complete opposite of blingness. And Jen's Pepto Bismol pink suit at the beginning. Businesswoman Barbie!
Seriously, though. That scene with her and James? Too much pretty there. I heart James. Like, there's cute, and then there's Gary Cooper, and you, James, have outdone Gary Cooper. That scene, where he cut the wood with a saw? Nearly fainted right here.
I loved that the men's team during the float building were dressed as sperm from that Woody Allen movie. You know the one?
I love Bill's "oh, of course" to Trump's "Kristi is not helping them get along." Because his face was like, "oh, of course...you crazy libidinous maniacal old man." Carolyn's expression was just tragic.

I'm really glad that Kristi's gone. She was the worst of the Heathers. She exactly the type of back-talking counterproductive person Marshawn was referring to in the pep talk. I can't stand when folks spend task time setting up boardroom strategy rather than working, and Kristi had a track record of that. As bad as Jen messed up, Kristi's just not good enough.

[slight ot] Actually, in all fairness, Chris van Allsburg ripped himself off first. The book Zathura came out a few years ago--I bought it because one of the boys in the illustrations was a dead ringer for my nephew (who is way cuter than those movie kids!), but it's nowhere near as good as Jumanji, IMO. It feels very imitative--I can't recall a single image or incident other than the kid, whereas I still remember stuff from (the book) Jumanji. Also, I saw one of the Friends reruns a few days ago with Jon Favreau as the millionaire courting Monica, and. . .well, he's gotten. . .greasier? [/ot]

I thought Favreau was unnecessarily trying to lord over people, like they were his inferiors. If they were his inferiors he never would have agreed to appear on the show in the first place. Did Favreau and Vince Vaughan meet at a pie-eating contest? That would explain a few things.

Let me just pimp PCU again - the two of them have some great chemistry, too.
Kristi's comment that she hopes Felicia or Alla wins just underscored how a clique can overshadow teamwork and ability. I think Alla is really strong, so there's nothing wrong with that, but I think it's equally clear that Felicia doesn't have a chance in hell, and Marshawn is just as strong if not stronger than Alla. But Kristi's a good ol' girl, and her blonde sisters get her support even if they aren't best for the team or have the best chance of winning.
(Not trying to argue a racial motive for Kristi's opinion here, because I also think that Rebecca is stronger than Felicia, and it's clear Kristi doesn't care much for her, either.)

The actual episode title is "Lost in Space." If any mods come by, could you fix it?
Heh. I like your title a lot better. Much more creative and shows erudition. And I love erudition.
That was a tough BR call. It was either keep someone who actually might have decent ideas and be competent most of the time but is a shrill harpy and detrimental to team unity, or keep someone everyone likes but is a terrible manager (despite what she said about herself) and can't even bother to learn the proper pronunciation of the movie they are promoting.
Kill me, but as much as I hated her, I think I might have gone the other way and kept Kristi. Jen just doesn't have it. She reminds me a lot of Elizabeth from S2. She's probably very good at whatever she does but is way out of her league here. Not that I think Kristi is going to make it all the way either, but at least I think she might have potential. She's right in that a tough edge is not necessarily a detriment for an executive.
Markus should kiss his teammate's feet. If they hadn't pulled off a win his butt would be sooo outta there.
I still can't possibly see anyone but Marshawn or Randall winning this thing. Although I think Alla will also make the final four.

At least, for me it was the worst reward ever, because if there was anything I didn’t need to see, it was a bunch of white guys thinkin’ they’re layin’ down some wicked ass rhymes with Wyclef Jean.
Triple five soul word to that. Just so needlessly uncomfortable for all.
Kristi fired. And justifying it all the way down to the cab with that stank attitude.
I dig Carolyn but I got a must-hate-the-other-pretty-girl-in-the-room defensiveness from her too when she was sparring with Jen.

Carolyn did not appear pleased tonight. She wanted Jen gone. Well, she's in charge next week, at least for a little while.
"A boardroom first" next week. Hmmm...
Markus hangs in there again as the blondes now begin to turn on each other. THAT was pretty predictable.
Regarding Rebecca hopping in on her crutches: she rocks and I hope she wins it all. She was under the radar today. It may be wise to stay that way for a week or 2.

I think there's a children's book called Zathura by same person who wrote Jumanji.
Yes, you're right. He's just going to keep writing his one story over and over again. Next time it will take place under water with an equally crappy name.
For some reason in this episode, I really noticed Markus' frosted highlights. I hadn't caught those before.

Thanks
RhondaGC! I do apologize to anyone who got confused by it though. I won't do it again. Just learning.

Maybe she keeps them short for convenience, then. I wouldn't blame her, though, for Cinema God James.

She exactly the type of back-talking counterproductive person Marshawn was referring to in the pep talk.
Yeah, my Marshawn love went up this week. I liked her ok before but she hadn't really said much, but I fell in love with her for that comment. Also Randal- I was the same way about him, knowing he was getting the love here but not feeling like I had enough info to go on, then he says "everybody is talking and nobody is listening." Nice to hear 2 Aprrenti say smart things in one episode.
That reward though... ugh. Am I the only one who never heard of the musician? I didn't think I was THAT out of it. But once again, even though I started out hating it, I keep getting swept up in the happiness of the mens team. Yeah, they looked and sounded like doofuses (doofi?) but I get a kick out of seeing them have fun together. This really shows, IMO, how important the rewards are. Lame as they are, they give the team a chance to relax and decompress a little and get to know each other more. That can't hurt in an atmosphere like this.

Bill is so much better than George...It's nice to see he hasn't lost his edge and can still speak his mind with the same flair he had in season 1.
Hopefully we'll see more of him in coming weeks...next week with Donald gone and Carolyn in charge we going to get to see the real Carolyn - at least for the first half of the show.

In other sartorial matters, I loved Alla's plaid floofy bathrobe for its complete opposite of blingness.
It looked like Burberry to me. That's pretty bling.
Just like Toral managed to snow Rebecca into thinking she's a worthwhile human being, so did Kristi manage to fool Alla and Felisha. Kristi may be a good worker bee, but until she learns some diplomacy, tact, and an inside voice, she's not going to cut it.
Exactly. As much as I love and admire Carolyn, she tends to take each Boardroom on a task-by-task basis, whereas I think it should be cumulative. Whenever there's a little bitch session about one of the other team members, Kristi's right there in the middle of it. She's obnoxious, unprofessional, and insubordinate, not to mention a trainwreck as a project manager. Jen's kinda spacey, but Kristi, like Melissa, was a liability. That's why Kristi and Melissa fought so hard during the first task. They're the same person.

Was I the only one who was disappointed when they said "Trump's trip is cut short"? It implied that Carolyn doesn't get to sub for a full episode, which I would feel very depressed about.
