Full Version: A Gift From Data: Art in Star Trek

I couldn't find a past Art in Trek thread, so I decided to create this one.
My apologies if another thread exists.
Post any and all Trek related art creations in this place.

Anyway, my reason behind creating this thread.
The current PC challenge has some great Trek related creations and I wanted to alert everyone to their existence.

Also, a great Patrick entry. Courtesy of SnippyScholar.

That last entry by SnippyScholar? Be still, my heart!
Neko
And neptune42 has joined in with some true Data art; ignore the Rupert.

What about discussions of Art in Star Trek? There's always that episode where Data painted lots and lots.

And who thoughtfully put together a webpage with all of their Trek related PC entries?
Elenita
I think that was Cleo
Cleo256
Actually, that was just the Enterprise-related PC entries, because the end of the series was approaching. I've been meaning to index all the Trek-related ones, but I've been busy.

For some reason I think it's so perfect that the most prominently displayed painting in Data's room is his Mondrian...
Santanico
"Major!...Would this be more aesthetically pleasing if it were blue?" Heh. Good times.

(Although, to be honest, I'm with Weyoun on this one: even though everyone praised her talent to the skies, I couldn't see what was so damn great about Ziyal's paintings either. They basically looked like the kind of thing one produces in eighth-grade Art class and gets a B- and an encouraging comment from the teacher for.)

In case you don't regularly wander over there...there's some Trek going for the current Caption Challenge. And that pic is also getting some use in the Bicentennial PC.

SnippyScholar usually brings something Trek to the Pixel Challenges, but I loved the juxtaposition of Galaxy Quest and Trek in this instance. Especially since I happened to pop in my Galaxy Quest DVD two weeks ago for a laugh.

Data's paintings were certainly of uneven quality, but nearly all of them were preferable to the usual artwork found on the Enterprise-D: photos of planets and stars as seen from space. That's the only thing they might see if they looked out of a window. This unrelenting sameness could only be exceeded if they hung photos of corridors and instrument panels.
frenchtoast
Oh, I wish I was more talented with the PC's because this? is going to be awesome.
Cleo256
If only I knew more about JJ Abrahms. Felicity haircut, Alias wig-wearing, and Lost-is-confusing jokes have already been made. I'm out.
frenchtoast
Yeah, I don't much about JJ Abrahms save for what you posted, cleo, but I'm hoping for the appearance of the Trippy Temporal Shower Room and something to do with Lost. They just seem to go together. And I don't watch Lost, but I gather not a lot is explained.
frenchtoast
I hope this doesn't bring a warning about double posting, but I had to link to this in the ongoing Pixel Challenge.
keckler
It's not a double post unless it's less than 24 hours apart, so you're cool.
chancellorjake
There are some seriously funny Trek related entries in this week's PC event. Along with other non-Trek related excellence.
This Garak entry from labprincess is spot-on incredible.
frenchtoast
This entry from Eris Rising in the latest Pixel Challenge has had me giggling for the last five minutes.
frenchtoast
The latest Pixel challenge is about romantic moments between characters. I have no skills nor photo manipulation programs. Plus, I can't find any pics of Hayes and Reed. Can someone please, please, please do that?

Thinking about it, there are tons of Star Trek ones that should be done. And yet, here I am, talentless.

SnippyScholar is far more talented than I. Thanks!
Peachy Keen
SnippyScholar, that is awesome! Is it wrong that I want that image on some V-D cards?
Gilmel
Is that photo from the Stinky scene in "Shuttlepod One"?
SnippyScholar
Thanks you guys! Yes, Gilmel, Hayes replaces T'Pol.
frenchtoast
It looks like Hayes is saying, "Dude, Stinky is right. You are foul!"
SnippyScholar
No more Pixel Challenge, folks. There goes all our fun.
frenchtoast
I am very depressed about it, Snippy. And the Star Trek ones were always hilarious.
SnippyScholar
It totally sucks, toast. *sniff*

In memoriam: one from "Opposite Day"--

Hee! Mirror Spork! I'm gutted, I never entered the challenges, but I loved them all the same.
belsum
No more Pixel Challenge, folks.

Whoa. I missed that announcement. What happened?
SnippyScholar
In the Bravo deal thread, we were asking about the Pixel Challenge, and were told that it is "probably gone" because of copyright issues. So I suppose there is a tiny chance the PC will be allowed, but I really doubt it.

But if anyone wants something photoshopped from Trek here, I will be happy to oblige you.
Gilmel
Cleo's got a web archive of all of his PCs, too, if he'd ever update it. *hint hint*
kay17
Good news!

They're back! :)
SnippyScholar
kay, I almost had a heart attack!!!!! Great news.

DocOrlando has a great Trek entry in the pixel challenge.

And I am not linkng it just because he says I am crunchy goodness, btw.
PrettyButterfly
Hee! And Yay! Yeah I have nothing of note to add here.
SnippyScholar
SunniLee has a good PC Trek entry here.
frenchtoast
Oh man, Snippy is off to a fine start in the newest Pixel challenge. And here's another. And another. And finally our very own J-L Picard.

May I just say a resounding HEE, especially to the Data and Bev one? That was perfect. It would probably be too much to ask for each Trek character, but that would be awesome. Can you imagine Riker's? And Geordi just begging for treatment what with him being blind and all.
Peachy Keen
Not to mention Archer being used as a floatation device with all that hot air he has built up inside him! Heh.

I love Snippy's entries!
SnippyScholar
Gee, thanks, you guys! *I blush.*
PrettyButterfly
The Picard one wasn't coming up for me, but now that I can finally see it, i can add my Hee! to the ranks.
belsum
Klingons Crossing the Delaware
chancellorjake
Ha! That is so awesome, bel.
I just love some of the creative stuff that can be found on deviantART.
SnippyScholar
This might have been mentioned elsewhere, but did you guys see the Glarkware redshirt long-sleeved t-shirt?? It's called "Expendable."

Genius! I just love it.
