I would also recommend cutting out Amanda, Trelayne, the Gorn, the Horta, T'Pau and Cochrane for now. We can always have a minor character face-off later.

Okay, if we're going to have a movie version, we can cut the Marcuses and Saavik. I was on the border with the Gorn, Horta, and ZC, so if nobody likes them, I won't be upset if they go, too.

But Spock's Mom, T'Pau (Celia Lovsky!), and Trelane (Bill Campbell!) are three of my all-time favorites. I want them in this contest.

T'Pau and Amanda have to stay. I have no idea who Trelane is, but it's been awhile since I've seen TOS, and I don't think I ever saw all of them in the first place. Personally, I think we should keep the Marcuses and Saavik, and I'm kind of wondering how a movies edition would go. Would it be all 10 movies, and would we be including regular characters who have already been included in another game (or 2 - Worf)?

Trelane was the proto-Q/omnipotent dandy from the episode "The Squire of Gothos."

I think a movie edition should be just movie characters, not series regulars, but that's for another time.

Are we settled on a TOS list yet? I'm itching to vote for Kor, Kang and Koloth.

Perhaps later on we should have a free-for-all version with the leads/regulars from each series. I'd have separate TOS and TNG movie versions. Also we have the potential of episode-only versions, and probably a species-only version.

I think we've got it down to a nice even 22. Let's rumble, y'all....

Can someone enlighten me as to who Kor, Kang, Koloth, Rand, and Mudd are? Mudd sounds really familiar, but I'm drawing a complete blank on the others.

Oh, penny. Kor, Kang, and Koloth are Klingons. They all make a return appearance on DS9. Mudd appears in two episodes, one of which is called "Mudd's Women." He's a traveling con-man/scam artist shady businessman type. Yeoman Janice Rand is the blonde woman with the basket weave updo who is always giving Kirk something to sign.

Yeoman Janice Rand (Grace Lee Whitney) - Cute blonde from S1 who was Kirk's sort-of personal assistant. Had a mad crush on Captain Tiberius, but he never went for it--except for "Enemy Within," when his dark half REALLY went for it. (Most infamous scene: during "Miri," when she asked the captain to look at her plague-infested legs.)

Kor (John Colicos) - Klingon colonial governor who faced off against Kirk on the "primitive" planet Organia in "Errand of Mercy." Unknown to both arch-enemies, the Organians were in reality a superadvanced pure energy species, and they prevented an all-out war between the Klingons and the Federation. (Most famous line: Kor sulked when the Organians pulled the plug on the big battle, sighing that "it would have been GLORIOUS.")

Kang (Michael Ansara) - Klingon commander who tried to seize the Enterprise in "Day of the Dove." Once again, unknown to both the Enterprise and Klingon crews, an energy being was manipulating events in order to feed off raw, hostile emotions from the combatants. Kang and Kirk eventually realized they were being played, ceased hostilities, and drove the entity off the ship.

Koloth (William Campbell) - Klingon captain who bedeviled Kirk during "The Trouble with Tribbles." (Koloth was supposed to be Kirk's regular Klingon arch-enemy, but it never quite worked out.)

Harry Mudd (Roger C. Carmel) - Con man, huckster, and bullshit artist supreme, who ran afoul of Kirk and crew three times (twice during TOS, and once in the animated series). Harry tried peddling wives to mining colonists, selling love potions, and wound up both ruler and prisoner of a planet of super-androids, and managed to drag Kirk into his mess all three times.


Oh, lis! Groan...and hee!

And don't forget that Mudd's dragged Kirk into quite a few messes in novels and comics.
