I wonder if there is going to be some drama between Kendra and the other girls later this season because things definitely seen tense now.
I doubt it, things are far too well controlled in the PBM environment. Only the death of hef will change anything. I wouldn't be surprised to see a spin off for one of them that allows them to leave though. And I think it will be Kendra. (Isn't E looking to replace Tara Reid for wild on? Oh, come on!, this would be right up Kendra's alley.)

This episode pissed me off so much- how is a dethroned and executed queen consort a good theme for a fucking party! Next, will there be a color themed party, Khmer rouge, perhaps? Plus, Marie Antoinette was not the last queen of France
.
It's about Marie Antoinette the movie my dear. European History? Bwah hahaha. I doubt "Khmer Rouge" the movie will have frilly costumes.
*blush* I should have realized that...damn my grad student/non bunny mindset!
As for the careful editing that shows Holly and Kendra avoiding each other, I'd love them to show the truth- bitch fights, baby oil thrown at each other, etc. It would boost ratings, and confirm the image that Hefner has basically assembled a sorority.

When I saw the episode, I couldn't believe how bad the cake looked. You could have bought it at a grocery store. My mom is a pastry chef, and none of the cakes she has done for celebrities have ever looked that low rent.

I also thought the cake was not nice. And I think Holly wanted an intimate party. If she wanted a huge celeb filled party I think she would have had one. I think she would have been happy to have a night out alone with Puffin.

She reminds me of the unattractive, hanger-on.
That sounds like most of the people I see at the mansion, including the males who I keep seeing at every event filmed on this show.
I'm thinking of making a list of products placed in each episode.

This hasn't been mentioned but did you guys notice Kendra had no part of the christmas charity? Holly called Bridget down to wrap their presents and they arranged the delivery.
I am going to be generous and assume that they finally realized that they finally realized that Kendra takes her sweet ol' time when they ask her to help and then leaves before they are finished, so they're better off not having her in the way.
Also, in the Daily Mail article, Hef said that Kendra and Bridget were there for "other reasons" than Holly (who he implied was there out of love). Now I know what we would say those other reasons are, but what do you think he meant by it?

Could you stand to listen to Kendra bitch and moan every time she has to wrap anything, even if it means stuffing the present into a recycled gift bag and grabbing a generic card from the secretary's office? It's easier just to do it themselves I'm sure.

We find Kendra annoying for a few minutes a week on our tv screens. Imagine living with her week after week. Imagine sharing her with your lover/significant other/sugardaddy/grandfather surrogate?
She has shown time and again that she is passive aggressive where any event or planned activity is concerned -- she comes late or not at all, is dressed inappropriately, and finds some way to skew whatever she's assigned to do into something other than what was intended.
Holly's Birthday: The last minute costume flurry although she must have known for a long while she needed one. I assume (don't recall) a last minute and less than thoughtful gift for Holly. SITTING on the cake (after she put a finger in the frosting to get a taste, leaving the finger trail on the cake and keeping quiet about it once Holly noticed it).
She sleeps in late, she has that donkey laugh, she is easily distracted by shiny objects and mens butts, she is fascinated by her own ass in any mirror she passes.
Living with Kendra would be like living with a bratty younger sister that is the favorite of your parents and gets away with murder while everything you do is criticized and must be perfect. Like that.
She's lucky that Holly doesn't kill her in her sleep.

The cake in the foyer that Kendra sat on was
not the one everyone ate, which was a premade facecake.
Perhaps, the special cake was there for Kendra to finger and sit on.
Much like the whole outfitgate. At the start of the episode Kendra complains of having nothing to wear, when Holly tells her she has the costume Kendra sounded so
surprised and grateful, then the lameness is revealed, especially in contrast to the other outfits.
I'm not saying that this stuff is set up but it is weird how this was edited.

Yes, but in the episode for the baby shower she went all out for the gifts and toys. she loved buying sporty stuff for Trease. Considering the family had several boys and one girl she probably would have enjoyed the activity.
All snarking aside this is still my favorite show.

Interesting that you say this because I was randomly thinking about the show while walking my dog this morning...no, i have no idea why...anyway, I realized that this set-up with Hef and the girls is very much like a complete family unit, albeit an incestual one.
Holly is the mom, Bridget is the oldest child (and she plays the role, dolls and all) and Kendra is the baby of the family, the tomboy. She's the little girl that has daddy wrapped around her finger and causes tension between mom and dad because dad lets her get away with everything. They have totally replicated themselves into family roles. And its creepy.

I dont think Holly was trying to get the Butler in trouble. I think she thought her telling him to relay the message was innocent. But its good that he knew otherwise. I dont think she realzed the potential trouble the butler could have gotten into for that.
Holly is very calculating - she knew what she was doing.
I don't remember, but did Holly tell Kendra she ORDERED that Snow-White costume for her, or that she had it laying around in her closet? Either way, it was obvious Holly didn't think much of Kendra, considering her other guests clearly were sent outfits in advance.
See my comment above.
You can feel the hate between Holly and Kendra - it's going to be a good season!
ITA - she was trying to get the butler in trouble and make Kendra look thoughtless. Nice. My take on the butler thing was that she was also trying to assert herself as the lady of the house, you know, "go ahead and tell Hef to do this and he will of course give in because the order came from me." Whereas the butler clearly knew that it works quite differently in the mansion. I wonder if she did this for the sake of the cameras? Also, she acted like those contest winners were there to see her alone, not the other GND. She seems even more self-centered than usual this season.

Reading every page of this wonderful thread has helped me notice a lot of things on TGND that I never would have noticed. You guys rock!
This season feels so tense to me. Kendra is never included with plans, except for horseback riding. Even the exchanges between Holly and Bridget seem tense. I wish the seasons were designed so that each episode didn't stand alone, that there would be plotlines that bridged multiple episodes, even if they were not the main focus of every episode.
This show is my guilty pleasure and I never miss it, but how many times can we watch the girls and the staff prepare for an event before it gets old?
I have always liked Holly, but during the most recent episode I found her reaction to the hiding of the present creepy. What was it she said, "It isn't that I don't like surprises, I just don't like things being kept from me"?
Thanks to you wonderful thread contributors I have begun to notice how Hef is always just beaming when he looks at Kendra. I found it funny how he shuffled away from her when it was discovered that she had sat on the cake. He didn't want to be hit with friendly fire when Holly found out.
I also found the incident with the Snow White dress odd. I wouldn't think that Holly would want someone wearing an out-of-place costume at her perfect party. I agree with the posters who implied that it might have had something to do with the producers.
And, also: "I guess that's what happens when your life is perfect"???? If that's perfect, I will strive for flawed.

I actually think that the girls seem to be getting along better this season. On Kendra's birthday (was that this season or season 2?) She and Holly were talking and cracking up when Holly did summersaults at the bowling alley. Kendra kept begging Holly to stay the night but Holly wanted to go back to puffin. I thought the exchange between Holly and Bridget when they were chasing eachother around and trying to lace up their dresses was cute, and it looked like they were actually having fun. I don't think that could have been scripted.
I don't see Kendra as being passive aggressive, i just think she's really irresponsible. She's only 21-22 and she's been there since she was 18? so she's still young and really easygoing. She also probably doesn't like the fact that she has to be in by 9:00 every night, when most people her age haven't even gone out by then. She really doesn't seem like the prototype to be in the mansion, and is definitely my favorite girl. She's the only one with personality, and I think her laugh is funny because it has lots of personality just like she does.
Does anyone have the links to those books about the goings on in the playboy mansion, or the pictures of Holly's and Bridget's before and after pictures?

Thank you. As someone who has to constantly deal with my boss' wife's attempts to undermine his authority, I completely sympathize with the butler. You can't tell her to her face that she's an idiot for thinking that my saying "You WIFE said I could do it" will be good enough to allow me to do something I know I'm not allowed to do. The wife doesn't sign my paycheck. Still, she's the wife and I have to treat her with respect. It's a careful ballet.
I think she totally played it for the cameras, the bitch. The more I see/hear/read about her, the less I like her. She's definitely earned her situation.

I watched the episode last night... and the costume thing is weird to me. It seems really shitty that Holly would get these great costumes made for her and Briget (and then get costumes for the Playmates) and then spring a crappy, $30 Snow White costume on Kendra. Granted, ITA with the above poster who said Kendra is totally passive-aggressive and didn't bother figuring out what she would wear until the day of the party. So maybe Holly is getting back at Kendra's passive aggressive tactics? But then, it also seems weird to me that Holly wouldn't want Kendra to match her and Bridget so everything was 'perfect'.
When I first started watching this show, Holly was my favorite and I hated Kendra. Now, I dislike Holly more and more and like Kendra more and more (she does have a lot of flaws, but she's grown on me). I guess I'll just shoot for the middle and picked Bridget.

It's pathetic that this is a cable show on at 10pm in most markets and they need to censor their bodies while they're goofing off and having fun. Give me a break! If you've seen their real photos, you can see why Kendra has the attitude.....that chick has a killer body. Holly looks like she went from A to D+ but has the same little nipples.

I thought the cake was okay, but I'm not a big white and red/pink fan so it was ugly to me for that reason alone. What seemed odd to me was that it was set up like a wedding cake, not a birthday cake. Did anyone else think 'wedding' when they saw the multiple tiered cake? I've never seen one at a birthday before. At least not one that a stripper didn't jump out of but that's a completely different flavor of cake...

Does anyone have the links to those books about the goings on in the playboy mansion, or the pictures of Holly's and Bridget's before and after pictures?
Here's
Jill Ann's "book". The link doesn't seem to be working right now, but it's the right address. I've sent it to two friends who are GND fans. Heh. Again, why do I care? There are some "before" pics of Holly in that book. Bridget seems to be mostly natural. She doesn't have foobs, anyways. I understand that Izabella says she had laser resurfacing done under her eyes, but I haven't read that book. I must warn you, Jill Ann's...creation is hard to follow. I don't think she had anyone proofread her work.
Kendra really has grown on me as well. I basically watch the show wondering what crazy things will come out of her mouth, because I don't think it's by mistake anymore. The ass-hurting comment last week? I totally think she knew what she was saying. Hiiiiilarious. If I didn't read this board, I don't think I would dislike Holly as much as I do now. She used to be my favorite, but reading about how conniving she and Bridget are with the tattletales and crying to Hef...no thanks. If I was Kendra, I would want nothing to do with them either. Although, if I was Kendra, I wouldn't be sleeping with an eighty-year-old man.

I think the costume situation went down like this: Holly and Bridget order elaborate Marie Antoinette costumes (Bridget making sure hers doesn't outshine Holly's), using their clothing allowance. Holly then orders cheap versions for all the other Playmates she is obligated to invite so that they are a) keeping with her theme and b) there is no chance one of them will get something equally elaborate or sexier than her own outfit and turn Hef's head. (Also, I'd imagine the Playmates living across the street are too busy enjoying the perks of being a hot Playmate without the strictures of being an official Girlfriend to spend a lot of time ordering ridiculous costumes.)
Kendra, being an official Girlfriend and having her own clothing allowance, is left to her own devices. On the day of the party, it's made apparent Kendra doesn't give a crap about the theme party and hasn't ordered an outfit, so Holly digs some old costume out of her own closet. She carefully selects a crap Snow White costume that looks to be 6 sizes too big for Kendra, ensuring that Kendra will look unattractive and out of place. Yet, since it's technically "Charger colors" she can present it to Kendra as if it was specially selected for her, which makes Holly seem kind and thoughtful. You know, the way a girl with a life so perfect she can't think of a birthday wish would act.
Regarding Holly's past career, I doubt she was working at a Sonic in LA. AFAIK, Sonics are only in places like Bakersfield; I've never actually seen one in Southern California, and I only heard of the chain a couple years ago. I had a girlfriend who worked at Hooters in Orange County, and she was on roller-skates, so that was probably Holly's shtick, since she sure wasn't a knockout. I'm guessing she obtained all her Miss Hawaiian Tropics/Hooters titles the same way she obtained the "Head Girlfriend" crown: a lot of hard work, dedication, and a willingness to participate in extracurricular activities that gave her a head (bum?) up on the competition.
I think she may have slightly powdered her hair this episode, to go with the Marie Antoinette theme--it kind of looks like it when she goes outside to see her golfcart. Enough to be authentic, but not enough to look totally freaky. But I agree, even in her interview sections, it looks no where near as coiffed and polished as it did last season.

Unless it was Kendra. I swear because Hef dotes on Kendra, Holly would do anything to help her look idiotic or as if she is stubbornly refusing to play along. The one thing Holly hates more than the lack of perfection is sharing Puffin's attention.
Unfortunately Kendra is the Teflon playmate because no matter what antics she pulls Hef just thinks she's great. I think Holly is insecure because she is not sure she can get away with shit like that. During the rare occassions Holly pulls some stunt like wearing the 4th of July Bunny outfit when she wasn't supposed to, I think its in direct response to Kendra getting away with shit. If Kendra wasn't there Holly would be a lot less motivated to test her boundaries with Puffin.

I'm a little late jumping in this 3rd episode rant but I'm agreeing that the Snow White costume was a strange choice. I highly doubt though that Holly actually purchased the outfit for Kendra out-of-pocket. I'm sure the PBM has a whole room full of themed attire for random women to wear at various functions. Lots of stringy things with tassels that go up butts and a metric assload of gold lame from 1972 that should only be meant for old ladies Sunday purses. Let's face it kids, Kendra DID end up pulling some frilly gold number from her OWN closet.
I'll also agree with the poster upthread who thought K & B looked like they were actually having fun doing their little bedroom corset chase. However, there is a bit where Bridget is behind and is lacing up Holly and H. has her hands/arms angled like so at which point I thought B. was flat-out cupping her tits. Alas, I was incorrect but at the time I certainly thought that was a rather bold choice for the peeps at E! to make.

Wow, Holly looks so different these days! I suppose she's prettier but her personality seems so ugly so it's hard for me to really see her as "pretty" anymore. I would really like to know how it ended up that she had costumes picked out and SENT to all her guests, but Kendra got a crappy Leg Avenue Snow White costume the day of the party. I have a feeling Kendra insisted on getting her own costume but then ended up procrastinating to the last minute and Holly wanted her to be in SOMETHING costume-y, so she gave her the Snow White thing. That's just my theory though.

A very appropriate analogy considering the Hooters girl had left Adam Sandler for an old man with a 5-year-plan. I think the running joke was his "shriveled old man balls" or something like that.
