The "girlfriends" cant compete with memories of a life Hugh once had thats all but forgotten. Barbi looks at these "girlfriends" as throw aways. Hugh was with her for almost a decade, and he didnt share a bed with her and other girls. For the most part, he tried to portray to at least her that he was exclusive. No one can hold a candle to Barbi. I think that she treated the girls just fine. Why would she try to make conversation with immature brats she doesn't know when she's sitting next to a smart business man that she spent a portion of her life with? I understand, Barbi!
The geezer has a bust of her in his house where he lives with his girlfreinds!!! But she seemed kinda woozy like she had tapped the joy juice a bit too much, or maybe too many muscle relaxer...

Can someone clarify this for me: when they were all at dinner didn't Kendra ask Barbie if she could ask her a personal question and they didn't that question turn out to be ' have you eaten at the Olive Garden'?
Did that happen?

Millie Thats what I heard her ask, then she asked if Barbie liked avacadoes.
I thought it was funny when Barbie asked "Are those real"? and Hef said thery were fake....It seemed like they were talking about boobs, but they were talking about the plants.
I was SO annoyed when Kendra kept repeating the stupid mannequin joke...sweetie, it wasnt funny the first time.

So true. But when they were talking about the Africa trip, Kendra had such a blank look on her face. I wonder if she could pick out Tanzania on a map or whether she has any idea what there is to see there.
I'm guessing Kendra thinks Africa is a country, not a continent...and she probably still doesn't know where it is...

That was so out of nowhere and bizarre. It reminded me of that episode of My So-Called Life when Angela decides not to sleep with Jordan and then some other girl who did sleep with Jordan approaches her in the bathroom and says, "Look, I know we don't know each other or anything, but can I ask you something?...Did you ever work at Big Guy Burger?"
Barbi's tone when she replied was what mine would have been: yes, what is your freaking point?

I'm pretty sure that was tricky editing, this show is full of it, and its even more obvious than on some so called reality shows. Kendra only made the manniqin mistake once, the second time was her retelling the story. There is some completely off about the whole plants or boobs conversation, who knows which one they were actually talking bout in real life. Also I'm betting can I ask you a personal question?, was followed up with something other than, Have you ever been to the olive garden?.
It's really starting to annoy me, every reality show is edited to make it look like things are happening that really aren't, anybody thats watched any of those inside reality shows knows that. but it so obvious and awkward on this show.
Sorry for any misspellings in this post its early and I'm sick.

I'm still confused, too, (do NOT insert blonde joke here!) about the "olive garden" question. I'm wondering if that is referencing some other place besides the restaurant chain. Anybody know if there is some insider info about this (part of the Chicago area where Hef & Barbi met or even somewhere else!?!) The way she said it was "personal" just makes me wonder if this is an "insider thing".

the only thing I can get out of it, is that the editors at 'E' messed up and didn't piece footage together properly! LMAO

The editing is really bad. I noticed it the other night, when rewatching the Vegas episode. When Carmela first gets to the hotel room, *before they go down to the pool,* they show her opening her presents and such. The camera pans to Holly, sitting there in the green dress she only puts on *after* they get back from their day of sunning and funning. My guess is some of that footage was from dinner, but they wanted to make it look like the girls immediately left the hotel and flew home, rather than even having a meal out.
Kendra's actually growing on me. She's dumber than a box of rocks, but she wouldn't hurt a fly. I don't know, maybe she's the cattiest of them all, but she comes across as just a ditzy blonde who thinks everything, and everyone, is just great.

ScarletGirl, I'm feeling the same way about Kendra. During the first episode & watching her shake her little butt on the bus, I was thinking "Yuck, skanky!" But after watching her at "Fight Night" and even walking around the ring and shaking her butt, I realized she really is just very outgoing & exuberant and makes fun of her own behaviour. As someone here noted earlier, she's like a cute puppy with a real zest for life and a fun flirtiness that is just natural.

You may be on to something there. I hate to perpetrate the "don't ruin it by talking" mentality, but all the conversations between the women have been rather bizarre. Like in the first episode with the Bible/masturbation chat in the limo. I mean I know these girls are ditzy bimboes and all, but I really can't see how that topic would even come up in the first place. the whole conversation sounded as stagey as one of those
Playboy Fantasies videos where we're suppose to believe a bunch of tramps in nighties "just happen" to get together and reveal that they like being spanked by well-endowed "lesbians" or something. After all, the Playboy credo is that (relatively) attractive women speaking ridiculously about sex is "kinky", right?
And how sad that I still can't really tell the concubines apart! I mean I know there is an old one who idiotically thinks she "loves" Hef. There's the young perky one who suppose to be "athletic" or something. And then the really old one who wants to be a Playmate really badly, even though she's more
Swank than anything else. Of course I don't really know which strawhead is which.

Because that's what an emotionally mature woman should do when she is invited to a home where these "immature brats" live. She didn't have to try to talk to them all the time, but ignoring them, leaning over them to talk to Hef as if they don't exist, giving them the "third degree" with attitude, and asking questions or making comments (too loudly & rudely IMHO) about them to Hef is ungracious and immature on her part.
She's been around this lifestyle herself....she should know better and be more empathetic when she's invited to someone else's home. Even if it was her home a hundred years ago.
Hi,
Blondie. I agree with you about Barbi. Several years ago, I worked at a Playboy resort in New Jersey. Despite that, I never thought that much of Hugh Hefner or his lifestyle, even though I liked my job.
But at least back then, Hugh Hefner hadn't descended into the pathetic joke he has become now. I wasn't going to watch this show at all, because Hef is just painful to watch now, IMO.
But I was curious about Barbi Benton, so I watched this episode, and I was so disappointed in how rude and tacky she was. I didn't expect much from Hef's girls, but I did expect more from Barbi. She's older, she's done well for herself, so why was it necessary to be so openly condescending?
She had the best of Hef. They traveled, lived high on the hog, and she didn't have to openly share him with a harem. I think the mansion and grounds were much nicer back then, too. She's still quite attractive for her age, so it was unnecessary for her to behave like a bitter bitch. She could have come off well, but she blew it. She should pity these women, having to deal with Hef in his dotage, instead of his prime, and they have a curfew at that!
BTW, I also think the editing on this show is awful. As far as the discussion "are those real" is concerned, I do think Barbi was asking about one of the girl's breasts. Then they cut to her talking about the plants, as an aside.
I don't think I'll be watching again. Seeing Hef in that basball cap, sticking his tongue out, made him look so foolish and even older than he is. With his background, I wouldn't have expected him to be with a woman even close to his age. But to have a harem of women so much younger only accentuates his age, IMO. But I do kind of like Kendra, who does seem like a goofy, fun-loving girl. I hope she learns and grows up a little from this experience, without getting too jaded. And I suspect that what others have said is true - she's probably only on Hef's payroll, not really a girlfriend.

Right on, blocked writer! Totally agree with everything you said...aside from not watching the show anymore, that is---totally guilty pleasure here!
I thought Barbi looked lovely and she's obviously doing well for herself---so why the need to pathetically look down her nose at the girls? She could've come across as a very classy woman had she treated them with the same respect she would've appreciated as Hef's gal once, but she just had to play the bitter old lady role and came across as a sad shrew who still secretly longs to relive her past with Hef. Way to make yourself look even worse there, Barbi! But then again, I guess had she came in there being all nicey-nicey, that wouldn't be nearly as entertaining for a trashy reality show, of course...
As for Kendra, I really like the gal and think she's quite the barrel of fun. Even Barbi was gracious enough to call her "adoreable", although that's probably because Kendra was the only girlfriend nice enough to make sweet, regular conversation with her and treat her respectfully.
I thought she looked very nice and much prettier with her hair parted back in those two tight braids for Fight Night, btw---she should ALWAYS pull her hair back, as it softens her face a bit and draws attention away from the fact that her hair otherwise looks like burnt straw when she normally wears it hanging loose.
ElectricBoogalo
Sep 3, 2005 @ 9:22 pm
I agree she should pull her hair back from her face instead of having that bleached straw hanging around her face, but I noticed she tends to have her hair pulled back during day to day stuff and has her hair down for the interviews and evenings out. I don't like the double french braids though - from the neck up she looked like a 12 year old soccer player.
I did notice that when Barbi said Kendra was adorable, it was right after they showed Kendra in the ring shaking her ass. It's possible Barbi was being totally facetious. Then again, maybe she said it sincerely at a different time and they chose to have that voiceover during the ass shaking footage. With all the editing, who knows when she actually made that comment?

I feel sad for Hef, really -- I think one thing he very much wanted in life was to find the next Marilyn Monroe, and maybe make a classic non-pr0n movie. It was fairly entertaining seeing the first ep again. I guess I didn't notice this before, but I had to smile when I saw the old-man applesauce on Hef's breakfast tray. Poor, old Hef. Having never seen the first episode before, I was glad I had another chance to see it. I have to say, Holly really does live in dreamland, doesn't she? I think, deep down (or maybe not so deep), she cannot stand Bridget and Kendra. Pretty obvious she wants "Baby Puffin" to throw them out on their butts!

I've been watching this train wreck from the start, and Mr. Sweet Tea has been making fun of me constantly. He can't believe I'm watching this show. I can't believe it either, so what explanation can I possibly offer? The show represents everything I detest, yet here I sit... disgusted and mesmerized.
I remember reading an article about Hef's "girlfriends" awhile back. It said they are paid a salary, and the story implied that the women do have sex with Hef when he so desires. Apparently, the Hefster is popping Viagra like M&Ms. The partyline (pun intended) is that Hef sleeps with Girlfriend #1 (Holly) regularly and "visits" the other two as he sees fit. Eeewwww.
Of course, it could very well be just PR designed to maintain Hef's image.
Has anyone else noticed that they never mention or show Hef's kids from his last wife, the former Playmate? Aren't they still school age? If I remember correctly, they live right down the street from the mansion. Guess they don't want to portray as daddy at all... except Sugar Daddy, of course.
So these women are being paid a salary to be Hef's girlfriends and sexual playthings.... can someone tell me how that is NOT prostitution?
Random bits:
Holly's hair is way too light for her complexion
Bridget looks like she's 5 years away from being fat and is not as pretty as the other two IMO
Kendra is cute but the porn hair has to go, and I think Holly's body is more womanly and more attractive
The little puppy is adorable, but I was very worried when idiot Bridget left it alone with that ticked off cat!
ETA: is Hef/Playboy paying for their haircare too? I haven't seen even a smidgen of dark roots on any of them, which means they're probably getting their bleach-jobs touched up about every two weeks. Very expensive.

Yep, they have a beauty parlor tab. Perhaps that's why Hef's harem is so small, 7 GFs was no longer affordable at 1,000 dollars a week, room and board, and tabs all over town. Christy probably put a limit on him.

Ok, I don't know why, but I really like this show. I actually like all the girls...what is wrong with me? Kendra is way trashy and erratic, and her laugh is horrible, but she does seem sweet. I feel a little bad for Holly, but I don't find her annoying or anything. I think she can be kind of funny. And I actually think Bridget is really pretty, especially in interviews with the side-parted bangs, like on the first episode when she was talking about how people think they are whores, or whatever.
Hef, however, really bugs me. On the first episode, I expected to like him... he is a legend, after all, and I find it sort of awesomely hilarious that he still has all these young girls around him. (I'm a 25-year-old female, by the way). But he is super creepy. The whole bringing the meal with him was irritating. It bothers me when celebs think they deserve such special treatment. But what bugs me the most is how he makes little comments about what the girls are eating and stuff. Didn't he tell Kendra and Destiny to pace themselves? I was surprised to see Holly eating ice cream in bed with him, especially after what she was saying about not living up to his standard, with her nose or whatever. I mean, I understand girls in the magazine are supposed to fit a certain standard (still bugged when he was talking about the photos and asked if the one girl had gained weight... but I do understand it's a magazine, and business), but can you imagine dating someone so incredibly critical of women's bodies? And these girls want to be in the magazine so badly... I found it so strange and unexpected that they had not been. How awful they must feel seeing all these other girls get the chance, and knowing their *boyfriend* doesn't find them good enough. (I found that very strange to conjugate, what with the multiple girls, single boyfriend, etc.)

I don't like Kendra as much as some of you. Her personality is a little brittle to me. She is pretty though, although she looked better in some of the photos. She looks a little heavier in some of them. I think she looked better with a little more weight on her and yes, I would definitely darken her hair a little. You can be blonde without being platinum. (Actually, I like Bridget's hair color.)
I'm still not clear on why none of these women can be in the magazine. Did they ever say specifically what the reason was? Kendra and Holly are both pretty enough IMO, and even Bridget could pass with some heavy airbrushing. They all have the requisite breast implants and blonde hair, so what's the problem?
One thing that bothered me: if Hugh really still that involved in the magazine? Everything I've read over the years has said his daughter, Kristie (sp?) Hefner, runs the magazine and makes the major decisions about stories, covers, etc.

I thought the same thing at first. I'm sure he has maids who clean and tidy up the place, but I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps them out of his personal space. IMO, the older people get the more they want their things around them and don't want them messed with. And Hugh certainly qualifies as old.
And don't get me started on the DOGS! I like animals, but honestly, I would wring every one of their little necks if I had to listen to that incessant yapping. Okay, okay, I wouldn't kill them...but I'd definitely buy muzzles.
I hope these girls are saving and investing whatever money they "earn" (hah). Hugh is almost 80. What do they think is going to happen when he becomes incapacitated or dies? Do they think the Hefner family is going to continue to support them?
I mean, it's not like they're valuable employees or something. What are they? Hmmm....what's the word for young women who live with an old man and have sex with him whenever he wants because he pays the bills?....C'mon, help me out here......

I swore I'd never watch this show, but catching a few moments of it over the long weekend revealed it to be an uncommon train wreck of dysfunction and therefore infinitely watchable.
Given Hef's money, why can't he get these girls better dye jobs? They're horrible. Talk about your suicide blondes. I'm surprised it hasn't all fallen out. And the last thing they needed on this show was to show that painfully pretty Philipino/Italian girl who was doing test shots. Now, that's what pretty looks like. Because in the past, whenever he would make his girlfriends Playmates, they'd ditch him shortly after their issue hit the stands. I'd list names, but honestly, I've forgotten, and all I remember is that they had bleached blonde hair and fake boobs. (Yeah, I know, that REALLY narrows it down!) Kendra was much prettier as a painted girl. I kept flipping around to see what exactly makes her less attactive now, and couldn't pinpoint anything. Her hair is much less shiny and she's "harder" with the tan, but that's all I could tell. It's like she hasn't slept properly in a year, and looks more unhealthy.
Bridget = Smurfette with a pink fixation.
And even though Holly seems delusional to us, she's smart: somewhere out there, is sugar daddy #2, who sees how devoted she can be to an older man. Also, she's the only one of them who can manage to chew with her mouth shut.

So are they going to follow-up on some of the women getting a shot at being in the magazine? (And by the way, which women? Is it all three of them?) I hope there are updates, because I'm hanging by a thread.

I think she realizes that she lucked out and this situation isn't forever.
I agree. Kendra seems to have the healthiest attitude of all (if the word healthy can really be applied at all to this situation).
But in comparison to the others, what I've seen of Kendra leads me to believe that she is just along for the ride, having the time of her life. She probably realizes that within 5 years (or less) she'll be out of there, so she's enjoying herself while she can.
Bridget is way too obsessed about being in the magazine, and it makes her behave ina a petty and jealous manner. Holly is delusional about being with Hefner. Can't she look at his history and realize that even if he's alive and relatively healthy in ten years, that she'll be too old for him?
I don't envy anyone in this situation, but if I had to lay odds, I'd say that Kendra seems to be the one who will come out of it the most unscathed. She also doesn't seem to have a mean bone in her body, so that gives her points with me.

I absolutely agree that Kendra will come out the most unscathed....but I think it has more to do with the fact that she is barley 21 and has a lot of good years left ahead of her.
Time is NOT on Bridgette's side....her most photogenic years are behind her and she has yet to actually use any of her degrees to get any experience. 32 is an akward age to have an entry level job.
Holly is so locked onto Puffin that she has effectively cut off all other life options. I know she is studying (ah...ha ha) for her Real Estate license...but the Modesto Bee says there are already 450,000 RE agents in California (with more taking the exam every day!) and only 680,000 home sales a year.
Holly needs to be very aware if she wants to have his baby. I have read that older fathers (and Hef would definitely qualify as older) have a higher risk of having children who can develop schizophrenia. There is also some research that suggests that the father's age (not just the mother's) is a risk factor for Down syndrome.
