Yeah, it was Kirk. I think he basically went in to the producers and said that it went against his religious beliefs and morals to work with someone who had posed nude, and the execs caved because he was the big "star" on the show. He also rewrote the storylines and basically changed his entire character to fit his religious views. I think that's when the show started to have trouble, because the character was no longer the "Mike Seaver" everyone had grown to love. And I agree with another poster who basically said that Kirk Cameron is a freak. I saw him on a show about Growing Pains and he just came across as a self-righteous religious wackadoo.

Back OT - As for the exercise video...I felt really bad for Bridget/Holly because the way it came across, they were basically hoodwinked into thinking this was a 1-shot deal - make an "exercise" video and move on with your life. That production team came in and tried to brainwash them into this whole diet/lose weight thing. I would have said F*** NO! and had that be the end of it.

In actuality, the "exercise" video was a complete sham, at least Holly and Bridget's parts anyway. You *know* they aren't exercising every day.

Kendra is a different story. She has a kick-ass bod and I could very easily see her doing her own line of exercise clothes (NOT a' la Jackie from Workout) and videos. Heck, I'd even jump on a treadmill or do aerobics if I had Kendra as inspiration. The girl's body rocks!

ETA - I thought it was a nice touch that the girls went to Arby's (even if the food they were eating looked really, really greasy and gross). It was a nice f* you to the Body By Jake people!!! Hee!

Barbi Benton did a lot of TV work back in the '70s. Also Dorothy Stratten actually got some legit work--she was either still filming or had just finished filming They All Laughed when she was murdered. Now it's difficult to say whether she would've gotten that gig if she hadn't been with Peter Bogdonovich, but from what I've heard, she actually did have some talent.

I think Bridget is basically happy with her body but the video producers could have been asking them "if you had the perfect body, what would you change..." kind of thing. Who would have thunk that costume-wearing Bridget would have come off as the most normal one here. Holly goes on the monkey diet, Kendra has a meltdown over being on camera and Bridget just ate her Arby's and did her thing. Good on her.

I don't remember Julie's breasts being as big on Growing Pains as they looked on GND. Did she have another augmentation? They looked HUGE.

I thought the exact same thing, sweetea! I don't remember them being anywhere near that big when she was on GP, either. I know she took out socks (or whatever) in one quick clip of her act there, but I don't think she took out THAT much to have made them look so big. I never knew if she had a foob job before, but if you're saying she did, then I guess she must've added to them because day-um.

I think all the girls have very unique relationships with Hef and with each other.

I think Hef and Kendra have a “pal-around” relationship. I think Kendra makes Hef feel young.

I think Bridget and Hef have a weird father/daughter dynamic going on. Considering the fact that Bridget stripped in front of her stepdad, I don’t think it’s all that far-fetched.

I think Holly is obsessed with Hef for one of two possible reasons: 1) the lifestyle she is able to live when she’s with him and possible inheritances if she marries him or 2) she’s in love with the Hugh Hefner of the 1960’s (which is possible since Hef was a pretty handsome guy back in the day).

So far as each other it is obvious that Bridget is the middle-man (so to speak). She seems close to both Holly and Kendra. The bunny recruiting episode was very telling though. When Holly went on and on about wanting to wear her bunny outfit, Bridget empathized but you could tell that her loyalty lay with Hef and she wasn’t going to encourage Holly to disobey him. She had a very “you’re on your own kid” tone to her voice.

Whoever it was who said they went to the opening of the PB club in Vegas, it will be interesting to compare the episode to your actual experience.

I don't know why Holly started calling him that - maybe Hef was wearing a tux one night and it was his sex day and so his nose was bright red as a mating signal? Could be wishful thinking on Holly's part -- Puffins form long-term pair bonds (which Hef has done with his current wife, Kimberly).

Like most things on TGND, I don't know that there was a logical thought process put into the name "Puffin"...seeing as how Holly's nickname is "Muffin", and she once referred to herself as "Smuggles" and Bridget referred to herself as "Buggles." Same exact thing happened to me when Hef chowed down on KFC at Kendra's mom's house. I HAD to have some Original Recipe. I could not fight nor satisfy that craving any other way.

Though I think Bridgette is way past her prime and should be booted, I think Kendra is the stupidest most worthless excuse for a woman on the entire face of the earth. I just met her at a party in Hollywood a few weeks back (it was some premier party for a paranormal show that Bridgette is in) and she was such a raging bitch. I just nodded at her and she rolled her eyes in the most annoying way possible. She has huge crows feet and wrinkles for only being 21 (so she claims). Hugh and the girls had huge velvet ropes around their table so people would leave them alone. The funniest part was that no one was even interested in them! Most everyone was intested in The Bonaduce's, The Knights, and Traci Lords. I had to laugh. I will post a picture as soon as I load it of the "pathetic" playboy corner no one cared about!

Still, Bridget was right about the exercise video -- who needs to see another generic soft-core vid on a lawn? I'd rather see what the girls actually do from day to day to keep thin (note: thin isn't necessarily healthy). How often do they weigh themselves? Do they restrict their diets for a couple of days if they gain, and to what? What type of consistent workout does Kendra do using the machines that are already there? And, what does Hef say if they gain a little? That's what I would buy.

I feel the same way. I watch the first 10 minutes and then change the channel. I used to look forward to it every Sunday but not anymore. The girls are really boring.

Actually, I don't know that she had a boob job back during the Growing Pains' days. I just assumed she had because it seems like post of the Playmates have had them. But it definitely looks like she's had something done since that time.

This show hasn't been the same for me since I read Jill Ann and Izabella's books. I get more enjoyment out of reading this forum. I guess it's because the picture painted by the show seems so far from what really happens at the mansion (at least according to the books). It irritates me. There is even a section in Izabella's book in which she discusses a special they filmed about the mansion, and how it was a bunch of garbage. She said they all said how well they got along, that they're like a family, etc., when in reality the tension was so thick it was palpable. They feared telling the truth though.

I wish VH1 could do a Behind the Playboy Mansion. I know they aren't rock stars but it would be great. But any kind of no-holds-barred unveiling like that isn't going to happen anytime soon. Sigh.

I agree about Bridget's hair. It's really blonde but a much prettier shade than Holly's and Kendra's. She seems to have gotten close enough to platinum to silence Hef and still look good.

The man is 80. A tell-all special is probably in the works and ready to air in about a month after the funeral.

sweetea, that's it! I was trying to put my finger on why I was not enjoying this show as much recently.....I thought it was because of all the contrived plot lines (of course, there are those, too), but I think you nailed it. I, too, get a lot more enjoyment out of this forum than the show itself!

I think one of the reasons people are losing interest is because it's too calm. Nothing emotional ever really happens anymore- aside from Holly "crying" at their anniversary party. But you can really count the emotional moments on one hand: Bridget being upset about the shower pictorial, Bridget being upset at that lady picking on her at the 2nd cover shoot, Holly crying the anniversary dinner, the tension with Barbie Benton. Yeah, pretty much it. Every other reality show has drama and tears and you can at least relate somewhat to the characters in some way. This show is like:

Kendra: "We did <insert activity here> and it was AWESOME!! <donkey bray>
Bridget (in slow, baby voice): We went to...<insert activity>....and Hef did <something Hef did>...and I had on my...<insert costume>...which was PERfect!
Holly: Hef took us to <insert activity> which was fun, because it's a big Playboy tradition. But I had to leave Coco at home. And Kendra was a little late. <makes disapproving face>

After two seasons, there's really nothing more for them to do without knocking down the wall they're all hiding behind and bringing on the catfights.

I haven't read Izabella's book, but if the tension is that high, why are the old girlfriends still buddies with Hef and other current and ex-gfs? That was the main thing that made me think that only Holly was actually getting it on the the dirty old man. Hmmm? I would like to see more of the real Bridget, Kendra and Holly. It seems like so far we've only gotten a facade. Each girl plays a part for each epi: Holly=the den mother, Kendra=the tomboy/bratty youngest sister, Bridget=a woman who just isn't ready to grow up yet.

I think they hang around because it's the closest they'll ever get to being a glamorous Star. It's tough for them to give up the "Playboy dream." And the free food.

Plus, out of the thousands of women Hef's fucked, only a handful still come around that I can tell, so I'd say the vast majority have moved on... or aged out of being invited back.

Interesting tidbit: a photo of Hef's wife was captioned as Kimberly Hefner (not Conrad) at a Disney event this month over on Wireimage.com. Hm.

Sunday is the season 'finally'. Something about the opening of the Playboy casino.

The show will probably get picked up for another season, but I don't think it has added anything to the Playboy image. Well, except for the boring. It's added a lot of boring.

Oh lord. Do we really need another season? This show was cute when it first started, but now, like everyone has said...it's kinda boring. I'll probably still watch or at least catch the reruns if there is another season. But then again, that's not saying much cuz I'll be watching season 4 of Laguna Beach if there is one. LOL.

Kendra was on "Total Access" on NFL Network yesterday. She's a football fan, in case you didn't know, because she hardly ever mentions it. Anywhoo, she actually looked pretty and not as porn star-ish. The folks at NFL Network evidently have a very good hair and make-up department. Her hair was styled and not strawlike at all, and her make-up was subtle. I think she really is a pretty girl, but on GND I can't see it at all.

She did mention that the new season was being filmed or about to be filmed, I forget which. She gave Rich Eisen her bobblehead doll (insert own joke here) and a Playboy with her in it. He turned into quite a buffoon while interviewing her, which wasn't too surprising. Also, she had a HUGE ASS bodyguard with her. Probably smart with all the testosterone flowing around the set.
