She was representing a fictional character, it wasn't like she actually is Cinderella and people's daughters look up to her personally, they look up to the animated person, not the random person wearing the dress. I don't really consider Playboy porn either.

Most of the women who are the female characters at Disney are good looking so only a matter of time before one went that way...and whose to say more haven't and done worse, like true porn.

Also, women look at Playboy a lot because they feel like they are attractive photos of beautiful women and they have no sexual desire from it. Most of the pictures are really tastefully done and well shot like art.

Eh, I don't think it's a matter if they were received well in Europe, I just think that many people would think they are tacky. My mother is from Germany and has only been in the US for 20 years and says that she thinks the girls look "cheap" and that they are "trash". Yes, Europeans are more open with sexuality, but seeing Kendra minimally flash Parliament was embarassing to me as an American...it's people like her, and Paris Hilton and Britney Spears who make Americans look bad to others.

I'm not uptight about nudity, per se, and have seen MANY photos/paintings/drawing/sculptures/etc in which I thought nudity was beautiful, or provacative, but yes, "artistic".

My exposure to this mag has been very limited, and so, I always thought the "it's ART pictures" excuse could have validity.

Then I saw the H/B/K scans linked here. That stuff was just nasty and skanky, and...just, no. Not even good. The nudity didn't offend me. The "porn" element didn't turn me off. But I was waaaay disappointed in the quality of the sets, the photography, and the posing. Cheesy, at best.

Why not? In our culture, when you are nude and bent over at the waist sticking your lips out like you are about to suck a dick, it does make me kind of think of sex. If I was Puritanical, I would think about burning the magazine and shunning Hugh Hefner. The pictures in Playboy are clearly meant to be sexy and provocative, whether they achieve that goal or not is in the eye of the beholder. And, mostly, I find the pictures to be too boring and generic to be sexy, not to mention the plasticky models.

Holly's involvement in the Playboy jewelry line has me wondering. When I bartended I saw a ton of women with Playboy logo jewelry, bunny tan stamps, Playboy bunnies on their shoes, their tacky jumpsuits, baby tees, jeans, etc.... What's the point? If the subscription rate is really 30% women who are not supplying the men in their lives with porn, I wonder what their motivation is. Do they aspire to be in the magazine, to be like the models? Do they want to crack the code as to what is attractive? It seems rather sad.

While this may be true, Playboy is indeed porn - albiet very soft core porn - it always has been. It was very racy porn when it was new. Then with the introduction of Hustler and other more explicit "crotch shot" type magazines - which were more hard core porn - Playboy just seemed very tame. It's never really strayed from that has it? It's basically soft core titilating photos, but without the very raw elements that mags like Hustler had.

Back on topic: Bridget is completely pathetic. When she was jumping around in the pool trying to get everyone to come in yelling "Come on in guys the water's great!" or whatever, I just felt sad for her. ITA about Kendra not staying long at the mansion. What I like and what creeps me out about H/B/K is the same thing: I think it's cute how they really ARE who they ARE....nothing seems to be an act with them, and they really are just that stupid. There is something very innocent and childlike about each of them, and that is simultaneously charming and disturbing. Ole Hef may produce what some consider to be a "classy" magazine, but I still think he's a sick puppy.

I can totally see Kendra freaking out in Europe like "Oh shit son! There's the Eiffel Tower!!" then laughing her crazy annoying laugh. And I can totally see Holly trying to look classy like Marilyn Monroe and totally failing with that fried blonde hair. I know she said she owns a lot of wigs, but her regular hair just looks icky. I feel like Bridget has very low self esteem - she cried during the photo shoot for the cover, and in the slumber party episode, no one wanted to follow her into the pool, and she's probably using the whole situation to boost her confidence, or at least to feel cared about. I can totally see her in one of those Lifetime movies as a battered wife.

Even if those PJs are a top selling item, they are ugly...I don't need a one piece outfit with a bottom that unbuttons so I look like I'm 5...especially for $60.

The pjs didn't really bother me...the flap only bothered me marginally....but the PRINT they used for them just made them UGLY. They could have been cute, but....they weren't. At all. Even on Playmates they were hideous and unflattering, so there would be no hope for the rest of us.

Um, Playboy is porn. It certainly is relatively tame, but porn is porn. If people want to pretend otherwise, feel free, but don't get frustrated when no one else buys it.

Seems like she has a screw loose to me. She seems like a sweet person but there is something wrong with her. Even though I think she's a bit odd, if I had to pick someone to hang out with for a day I would pick her. She's seems friendlier than the other two girls.

I've had several pairs of PJ's that were one piece with a flap and though they were not the most flattering shape boy were they comfortable!

I really like this show although I have a hard time convincing myself it's worthy of telling my friends and family about. (Hey, it worked with footballer's wives!) I have season one and I've watched it a bunch of times.

I have to say that I think Bridget would be someone that could be a great friend also.
But, she does cry alot. It seems to me, just an observation, that H/B/K are all from broken homes and/or dysfunctional families.
Holly said in an interview that her parents dont agree with what shes doing, but they wont step in and say anything because they know shes stubborn and wont listen. She said they came to visit the mansion, but they never talk about the relationship. Its kind of a sore subject.
Bridgets parents seem nice, but reserved. I kinda got the feeling when they visited her that her mom was kind of grossed out by being there. And stripping in front of your step-dad....thats something I could never do. Its just creepy.

I just finished Izzabella's book and I have to say that I'm relieved. After reading comments about it on the E! boards, I was afraid I'd hate the girls after reading the dirt on them.
Instead, I was given a light (and badly written-it screams "First Draft") bit of fluff to enjoy on my plane ride. Nothing surprising, a little bit of insider info and a fairly clear picture of how bitchey the mansion must have been in Izza's days (and this seems to be in no small part to the author herself's fairly bitchey attitudes).

Shouldn't "Television Without Pity" be "TWP" not "TWoP." Oh, I forgot, it's been that way since the start. Eh. I liked it a lot better when it was "Dawson's Wrap" and "Mighty Big TV."

If the photos in Playboy are supposed to be "art," heaven help us. They are to art what tract housing is to architecture. And it's not about nudity. There are far more "vulgar" photos hanging in museums (Robert Mapplethorpe, anyone?). The difference is in the aethetics. I, however, don't view the pictorials in Playboy as porn. They're just girly photos.

And I would say that a vast majority of (straight) boys in the U.S. have jerked off to said girly photos at least once in their lives. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

While the Hef must be happy about all the publicity tGND is generating, he must be bummed that he can't score new girlfriends. I love the Midsummers Night Party ep where he "checks out/scouts" the girls getting painted up. Remember, that's how he "met" Kendra.

All she has in Hef's suite is a (badly) hand-painted Marilyn Monroe dresser cramped into Hef's closet and about two feet of space in front of a mirror. That's it. All the clutter in the room is Hef, just as all the clutter in the rest of the house is his.

What's worse is that I saw the Playboy loot being sold in (and prominently advertised on the huge windows) a jewelry store that caters to pre-teen girls.
