No Fucking Way!!!!!!!!!!!! How is it possible that Master P glides thru and Giselle is voted out? I am so pissed (as though this in some way actually affects my life) that this could have happened. Who is voting? To be honest, I didn’t vote, simply because it was so bloody clear that everyone other than MP had it in the bag, that it never dawned on me that it would be necessary. This is a lesson I will carry. MP! Jesus Christ!

This right here. This is some bull shit. The judges need to seriously low-ball P next week. None of this five bullshit. Ones and Twos, across the board. If not we're going to get to a point where his bitch ass is competing with Drew or Stacy. If P lasts one more week, I won't be able to continue. This is so wrong. Giselle has actually been trying and she gets sent home. Foul.
Lowballing doesn't worked in a rank system. The judges have already dropped him to the lowest rank every week. It doesn't seem to matter.

Guys, a gentle reminder. You are not supposed to be posting about the episode during the episode. Standard TWOP policy. Nobody likes a Glarking.
And God, that was just painful. For one frightening moment, I honestly thought Drew & Cheryl might have ranked in the bottom two. Evil producers.
And evil voters, voting Master P through AGAIN. When the man's partner is laughing in obvious disbelief, the man doesn't belong there. Stop it. Seriously (don't make me bring out the monkey).
Poor Giselle.

This right here. This is some bull shit. The judges need to seriously low-ball P next week. None of this five bullshit. Ones and Twos, across the board.
It doesn't matter if P gets 1s and 2s across the board. Even if every other couple gets perfect 10s. They'll still get the one point from the judges and the couple second from the bottom will get two points. The way the ranking system works doesn't take into account how low the scores are. It only ranks from first to last. So to use this week as an example, Drew and Stacy both had a ranking of 8 from the judges. P and Ashly had a 1. Jerry and Anna had a 2. So even though Jerry and Anna had fairly better scores, there was still only a difference of one point.
Even ones and twos won't get rid of P.

Ugh. Will these people let Master P just DIE?
Absolutely. Unfortunately, because the judges are so hard on him especially after last night's
attempt. I can understand Len's annoyance at him, but really, enough is enough. If he weren't so hard on P, people wouldn't need to vote for him. Poor Ashly has to endure another week.
By the way, did you know Giselle was 45? Or that her father was a dancer? I can deal with most of the other garbage that they spew, but that was so obnoxious. Hmmm...George Hamilton is older than 45 (much older) and beat her out.
Is it possible for Lisa Rinna to look so plastic? She's a very buff, and I thought she did a great job. Hey, just dancing that fast in those heels would kill my feet!
Tia & Max's tango should have gotten at least one 10. Stacy wasn't all that great...and they still kiss her ass with all 9s.
Jerry wasn't as good as he was last week, but I don't think he deserved "geriatric."
Drew was very good and also deserved a 10. He was spot on all the time. V. nice.

I had a feeling Giselle or George would be in the bottom 2, I just assumed P would be there with one of them.
This is what the judges or the producers wanted, IMHO. They were critical of Giselle last night and they made sure fans were provoked to feel sorry for P. Giselle was probably boring to them, while they think P provides drama (I think that storyline lost steam a few weeks ago, but I don't produce the show).
This also means that their frontrunners, like Stacy, are even more likely to win.
This is the second time they've waited until close to the end with Drew and Cheryl. I'm not sure if they are just mind-fucking the viewers or if Drew/Cheryl aren't getting a lot of votes. I hope that isn't the case because the group of talented dancers is dwindling by the week.
Poor Jonathan -- didn't he leave around this time last season? He and Giselle were a smart, funny team. He was always supportive and talented (and he looked great coming or going!). Giselle was just too smart and cold and did not jump through the hoops or have the name value some of the others have. I guess she was right, she knew she was going, and she did.
Adios Giselle and Jonathan. We'll miss the rosarita.
I think P will probably go next now, unless they are really desperate for shock value. But the longer they keep him the less shocking his exit will be. American Idol usually gets rid of the untalented person a week after the "shock", and that will probably be the case here.
Isn't George wearing thin on anyone else?
Since he was in the bottom 2, apparently he is. I would have rather seen him go than Giselle and Jonathan. At least they actually dance, instead of just make "funny" routines.
So that spoiler that was posted here earlier today turns out to be true, right?
I think that spoiler was Tia/Maxsim.

I've been hanging around, but this is my first DwtS2 post:
Aw, I adore Giselle, and her departure speech was gracious and sweet and inspiring. Sniff! (I say this as an almost-40-yr-old former dancer who prays for the day the kiddoes are big enough for Mommy to get back to dance class on a regular basis, so, grain of salt, people.)
I was impressed by Lisa's performance this week, but will never get over the fact that she bugs beyond belief. Badass body, tho, and definite sex appeal. In other words, my husband loved it. ;)
Can I just say that I LOATHE Stacy? Never heard of her, she danced like she had a steel rod in her back, and her creepy, non-changing expression seriously creeped me out - did she make anyone else think of the Carver? No? Just me, then. And GOD!!! We f**king GET IT! Your legs are longer than your body, good on ya. Does that make it impossible to move your hips? Please go away from my tv - that would be great, thanks.
The forbidden happy that is Master P ... I don't know how to explain it, other than as a former dancer, I've known so many people that just don't get dancing. Can't move, no rhythm, footwork will never come together, etc. But usually the desire is there. Can't tell if the desire is actually there w/P, but he does seem to be making a teensy bit more effort (I choose to believe it's because he wants to do right by Ashley.)
Speaking of Ashley, girl was H O T!!!! in the exhibition dance! Damn, working w/P must qualify as some sort of feel-good charity work, because she honestly seemed happy to be staying.
And, that's all I have for now. Other than a big ole word to the posters that assume TPTB clued in to what we already knew: replay the dances on the results show, and you negate any reason for us to watch Thursday. That said, I now have to find a way to wedge TWO nights of viewing into my already way-crowded viewing schedule.

I really don't think the producers want this. The backlash they got last time when the majority of the media thought the "better" dancer (in their opinion) won was absolutely brutal.
There's nothing that can be done about P until his fanbase stops calling in for him or the field tightens up where people aren't splitting their votes.
Ashly pissed me off a little bit with her nodding about the judges being cruel. For goodness sake, they gave him a virtual tongue bath the previous two weeks.

riley605, I'm ready to have your babies anytime you like. I seriously do not get the big deal about her legs because, unless I'm doing it wrong, I just measured mine and they're more than 41 inches long and longer than my torso. But nobody is stopping me in the street in amazement about it.
I'm convinced the reason she hasn't done any fast dances thus far is because she will not be able to pull it off as convincingly as the posey moves the slower tempo dances enable. I predict the minute she has to see the Quickstep, we are going to see just how awkward this incredible 41-inch-legged wonder of nature can be.

Some people were kvetching on the "Skating with Celebrities" thread that there was no TV viewer vote. I must say, after this week, I'm thinking that getting rid of the TV viewer vote would be a GOOD thing for "Dancing with the Stars."
I know it's not a real competition...it's a lot about pure entertainment...but it's getting really stupid that the worst dancer keeps getting through.
In the ultimate P versus Drew final dance-off, there is no way anyone will be able to say that P won because he's the better dancer. And that will be the end of the show forever. Who knows, this could be the "Quiz Show" moment for all of "reality" television.

And at first I was very excited when they said that all the pros were going to do another exhibition number (the one from the first week was simply fab-ulous), but if they were going to do a paso doble (which was my favorite dance last year), did they have to do it to Rocky? I don't think P has a huge fan base; he was in the bottom 2 last week. I think just the right amount of pity for him and apathy for Giselle (who doesn't have a fan base) and George (who is too focused on the gimmicks, IMHO) scraped him through for the week.

Okay, in doing the math, P had to beat a 6. He could have tied a 6, with a higher viewer vote. Therefore, he got at least 4th in the audience vote last night.
Crap, just when we had him pinned in the bottom 2.
Trav.es.ty.
Let me explain...
After the judges votes, the points were
8 Drew
8 Stacy
6 Tia
5 Lisa
4 George
4 Giselle
2 Jerry
1 Pathetic
The lowest combined scores possible for Giselle and George were a 5 and 6 (because I highly doubt they got the exact same amount of viewer votes). Therefore, P had to get at least 5 points from the audience scoring in order to get a combined score of 6. 4th place earned 5 points this week.
Anything lower than 4th place would have put him in the bottom 2 ( with a combined score of 5).

ITA. In the long run, my guess is that the producers know this will alienate their true fan base of the show.
This reminds me of the reality dating show Cupid from a couple of years back (after this post, I'll go hang my head in shame in the corner for remembering). There was an obvious backlash vote for Robert (the German fitness model) who was the worst possible choice for Shannon (I looked up her name - honestly, I couldn't remember it).
I think there are people out there voting for MP because they just want to see a trainwreck. And if there are enough of them, he'll be around for awhile. Robert was one of the last two standing. My prediction - MP will stay until the final four.

Interesting results which leads to the following calculation. If my understanding of the scoring system is correct, the only way P. Miller could have moved on is by ranking 4th or better in the audience vote. That's fourth in a field of eight. If his fanbase keeps the faith, he is likely to last a couple more rounds.
ETA: I see barkley on the previous page beat me to the same calculation
I'm happy to see Ashley stay on, but oh, what a cost!
Serious cognitive dissonance with the Rocky theme music for that dance there. I could not enjoy it at all! Maybe I'll rewind and watch it with the volume off.
I found George Hamilton's schtick very odd, in addition to being repetitive. It was hardly funny the first time he did it, and just plain uncomfortable tonight. And why would he still be lobbying for votes tonight? Could that have been footage from last night, or is senility kicking in?

My prediction - MP will stay until the final four.
I don't think that will happen. Kelly was one of those who got through on big fan votes but she really did improve as the season went on, and she was never horrible in the first place. The judges might try to say P is improving, and he may improve marginally, but he's never going to be any real kind of a dancer. I doubt he wants to be there anyway. I think he has a few weeks left at the most, unless people are apathetic again and Lisa, Tia or George are eliminated.
I hope the producers are happy that their Simon Cowell gimmick paid off. It's really beneath this show, and reminds me of that stupid "dance off" John vs. Kelly disaster they had to have last year which seemed so bitter and anticlimactic.

Seriously. And the "ahh-ahhs" toward the end of the song sounded like they were having a really hard time harmonizing with each other.
I can't help but feel that these performers are background/sessions artists (of whom there are many excellent, talented ones) who are looking for their

sound so much like they were desperately hoping this would be their big break.

Just a quick question for discussion:
Clearly the voting system needs to be changed, but what would be the fairest system to change it to?
I can see a number of options:
#1) Do away with rank order scoring. Yes, it would be much more complicated, but I think someone in last place by 5 points should have more of a battle to overcome than someone in last place by one point.
#2) Have the audience vote for who they think should be eliminated. Right now, most of us seem to be trying to approximate this by spreading out our votes among everyone we like. Why not just have us directly vote out the worst person. It's more direct and harder to spoil to save a particular person. Until the last 2 people are left, a fan base would make no difference.
#3) Do something about the method of voting. Right now, it seems unfairly biased towards people who live alone (10 votes for one person, rather than 10 votes divided among a family) and families who have many phone lines and/or cell phones. And to register to vote online takes a bit of effort. However, I can't think of a way to make it more fair without involving fingerprints or SS numbers or voice prints.
#4) Give the judges score more weight, do away with audience voting entirely, or only allow the studio audience to vote. These are all highly unlikely, however, since they remove the interactivity with the audience at home, and that seems to be the main point of the show.
Anyway, what do other people think? What would you do if you were in charge?

Do you think once - ONCE - they can have Drew and Cheryl dance after Stacey? I think they rated Stacey's tango against the other women tangos, not against Drew, hence the nines. If Drew had danced after Stacey - tens.
OTOH the conspiracy theorist in me thinks the judges and the producers definitely want Drew to win and are shaping the timing and performance order to "underdog" him enough, vis a vis Stacey, to rally fans to the phones. He's really good - my favorite thing about him is his natural facial expression once he starts dancing - his neck is actually relaxed. There's that ability to feel the beat again. They don't want to O'Hurley him, make him seem so much better, lest his partisans let down their side.
I absolutely love him, and I didn't know Nick Lachey had a brother until this series started.

Jan 20, 2006 @ 9:46 pm
Anytime there is audience voting at all, there are going to be voting debacles. Four seasons of American Idol have taught us that, there is a "shocking vote" every year. I don't know if I want it to be just the judges (at least not these judges), because all though most of the time I find them to be competent, sometimes their voting really wouldn't jive with what the viewers see (like this week, when many people thought Tia's tango was better than Stacy's). I think they should still do the half and half method, but try to do something other than ranking, so that coming in last with a single digit score would be different from coming in last with a 13 or 14.
I think Master Pathetic might last as long as there are still people without strong fan bases. I thought Giselle was dead meat for sure when she got a lower score, because I didn't think she would generate many viewer votes. I could see P sticking around through the magic of mathematics past George, Lisa, and Tia at the most, but I think Drew, Stacy, and Jerry could generate higher viewer votes than him.
Edited to add:
Has anyone here goes to ABC.com and vote? We know that the phone line has limit but is there a limit to voting thru the web site? Because i'm thinking maybe there are few M P fans doing the power voting. That's the only thing I could think of why M P is still there.

After the shoe scene, I know where Romeo got the 'tude. Yeah, I'm lookin' at you, P. No matter how you and Ashly seem to have gotten over that, we in the audience remember.
As for Ms. Keibler, I agree about the seeming reliance on posing and showing off that she has *gasp*
long legs!! From Week One weird, irrelevant crap has been handed out instead of helpful critiques. Bruno's 'The warrior princess has become a prima ballerina' crap just baffled me. Xena/Wonder Woman? While more martial than ballroom, weren't portrayed as clunky movers, so that Stacy was either a warrior princess
or a prima ballerina- neither a ballroom dancer, mind you- was beside the point and counter to what the show and some of the celebs are trying to prove- that ballroom isn't only for the rich. (::waves to Giselle, as my 40th natal day is coming up soon!::)
and her creepy, non-changing expression
I heard Stacy trying to explain herself and mentioning something about how she "had to look mean" for the dance.Apparently Tony wasn't able to explain how she could act/react with the song in relation to the dance. Watching the dance again tonight, the 'strangling' seemed to come out of left field and got a 'huh?' reaction from me. I know the song, but the dance/choreography didn't mesh with the story/music/song, imo. So, while I like Tony and think he's got a crush on his student, he's not doing right by her by only choreographing stuff so pose-y. She's a wrestler, she won't break just because it's a tough routine.
OTOH, I dug Lisa very much for the first time! I liked her previously, but I really enjoyed her jive. A very good choice for her and Louis.
I almost took up smoking unfiltered ciggies after the Paso Doble exhibition, even with the music choice. I would gladly bear children for any of the male pros! *g*
I gave Samantha a chance, but she needs to join Lisa Canning- anywhere else but in the Kiss & Cry/GreenRoom. We get confessionals and can't Tom just quiz 'em backstage somehow?

The only reason I did NOT freak out when they announced Percy would be back next week was b/c by then Tia and Jerry were both safe.
That being said. . . .sigh. What's going on here?! Is it the sideshow freak factor that's keeping Percy in there?
Sad to see Giselle go before Percy but I wasn't too invested in her so all in all, I can live with these results. But I tell you, if Percy sticks around and Jerry or Tia get voted off. . .heads will roll!
Oh and I didn't mention this about Thursday's show but I TOTALLY did not buy the whole 'me and Ashly get along GRRREEEAAATT!' retcon they tried to pull on us. Especially since a poster here was actually at a taping and reported that he was basically an orge to her.
Free Ashly!

They have really got to get rid of the viewer voting. Too many of the viewers are obviously out of their freaking minds.
My new plan is just to pretend that P is not even on the show. P who? I know no P.
Poor Jonathan, once again ousted too soon. Hopefully we will still see him when the pros dance (although the other ousted pros seem to have vanished).
The Paso-Doble-Off was very entertaining! Louis doesn't do anything for me, but it was a trifecta of hotness with Tony, Maksim and Jonathan.

So...who won the Paso Doble? I vote for the Russian couple.

Do you think once - ONCE - they can have Drew and Cheryl dance after Stacey? I think they rated Stacey's tango against the other women tangos, not against Drew, hence the nines. If Drew had danced after Stacey - tens.
Didn't Drew dance after Stacy in the first week?
He's by far the most talented dancer, although I think Stacy probably does have a lot of talent, but Tony is doing her a disservice by only choreographing stop-and-pose-and-show-us-your-long-legs moves.
I thought Cheryl and Tony had the best Paso Doble, but I really wasn't sure what to look for in that dance. I also didn't think Louis seemed his best during the Paso Doble, but his jive, that's another story. Unbelievable.
