There is no way that anyone in their right mind could think that Mr. Pissant did a better job than Tatum. I know she wasn' the best last night, but fair is fair, she did a helluva better job than him.

This feels rigged.

This sucks. First, the producers fucked themselves. No need to watch on Thursdays. Ya' get two for the price of one on Friday. Dance and results.

The results sucked! Master P stays? C'mon. The fucker aint changing his lucky shoes for nobody, not even the judges. Nope, he won't play by the rules. I don't understand why the judges don't decide the first five expulsions. After that, bring in the viewers.

So long, Tatum. I thought you deserved to stay.

(Who was that nasal-singing kid? He wouldn't have made it through the first round of AI. Oh, he probably would have. Master P and all.)
Algae
I can't say I'm sorry to Tatum leave, but...

why is Master P. still here? Who is voting for him? Does Ashly really have that many fans?
LadyKenobi
Really... still... not getting why the judges all seemed to think that Stacy was so great. It reminded me of a bad ice dance routine; far too little use of the floor. WTF what she wearing? A bra with a chiffon scarf? Bleah. It's called... leave something to the imagination. I'm rooting against her if only because I think her background gives her an unfair advantage. This is so much more entertaining with people who haven't had dance training.

I have a mad hate for that 49ers team (they beat my Bengals in the Super Bowl!) but I thought Jerry stole the show.
MDKNIGHT
I'm ashamed to share the same species as the people who voted for MasterPathetic. To make it worse, from somebody upthread I know that Canadians aren't allowed to vote by phone so we can't even blame Canada. Why oh why have you done this America? You couldn't wait one more freakin week to kick Tatum off? She wasn't THAT bad. Gah.

I did like the professional dancers. Had no idea the guest singer was so young. They seem to have gone to extremes between Burt Bacharach and Boy.

I'm not sure I can continue to watch with MasterPathetic befouling a show I really liked. This really is bothering me and I don't watch tv to be bothered and angry. I don't watch American Idol for that reason.
Colonial Philistine
Missed the results show - though I heard that a couple did a Lindy Hop routine. Would've been a tall black guy (Ryan Francois) and his partner, Jenny Thomas.

What'd they dance to? Any airsteps? How'd they do?
MysteriousKitty
I have to say I liked the Jessie McCartney song along with the dancing. I was taping my toes. Thought for sure Tia was going home but I am so happy she didn't. Master Pathetic is like the Scott Savol of this show. If he beats out my favs(which is everyone but Stacy and Drew) I will be pissed! I have to say I don't hate Stacy or Drew I just haven't been able to really get into their routines and enjoy them. Maybe next week it will come to me!
Cyb
Master Pathetic is like the Scott Savol of this show.

I was thinking the same thing, except I couldn't remember Scott's name until I saw it in your post.

I felt so bad for Ashly. She looked disappointed not to be leaving. She has to spend another week with that bumbling ingrate.
Ray of Sunshine
Master Pathetic is like the Scott Savol of this show.
I called him the Carmen Rasmussen of the show, but Scott works too.

This just sucks........

To make it worse, from somebody upthread I know that Canadians aren't allowed to vote by phone so we can't even blame Canada.

CTV in Canada aired it during the summer after it struck a nerve in the U.S. but since they have the rights to the O.C. and CSI that night, I doubt they will air it this time.

I'm at work so I hauled ass to Subway for food and turned on the TV JUST as Tom revealed Tatum's fate. Happy that P was in the bottom 2, not happy he's still alive (Ashly's "W...T....F?!" face was hilarious AND painful at the same time.) Wasn't so fond of Tatum, but no more Aussie accent? Boo hiss, America.
sgupta4
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! I can't believe Master P. is still on this show.
MsDeacon
LadyKenobi I agree about Stacey- she irks, and I loved her at first. She's not really my problem, the choreography is, so I blame he infatuated partner. ITA w/your ice dance analogy and extend it to ice skating in general. Two things I hate in figure skating - tremendous line, pose-to-pose instead of blade-on-ice work, and gymnastics substituting for same. Extending this to dance, last season Kelly was an example of the latter and this year Stacey, thanks to her partner, looks like she's an example of the former. I know the celebs aren't going to be anything close to a professional. I just want to see them try to dance, not opt out of dancing and relying on non-dance strengths set to music - gymnastics and portraiture. What's the point?

I'm an armchair dance critic, not a purist. All I care about is the celeb's feet are moving, changing, dancing, in time, covering the floor. That's dancing. Not slamming from position to position. I loved Drew, Jerry and I loved George. I don't care if George and Edyta were doing the quickstep or not, because George was dancing. He can move to a beat like Drew. On top of that, the whole vibe was adorable! They charmed the hell out of me. I like an old performer who knows how to perform, and Edyta seemed tickled pink the whole time.

Tia is probably my favorite of the women - she has the right spirit, but overall I think the women are not as effective as the men. I partly blame the men doing a lot of dancy dances with the women doing sexy pose type "dances" and it's pissing me off, even though I've been told here that's going to change.
Counse
I. Don't. Understand.

What? Why? How? HOW?!

Thought for sure Tia was going home but I am so happy she didn't
I was glad to be wrong about that, too.

I know that Jesse kid was the special guest singer (waiting for his voice to change), but I really got annoyed when they kept cutting away from the dancing to show him. I was like, "Yeah, yeah, I see him over there with the mic. Now, lets get back to the hip swivelin'."

Everyone I really wanted to see back next week made it. But, Tatum and the dashing and elegant Nick should have advanced also.

Funny thing, even though P. gave us a repeat of his "Oh, crap", face from last week when he and Ashley survived again, I actually thought I caught a glimpse of regret in his expression. I wonder if it's possible he might be feeling a little bad about being saved while others who seem more happy to be there get eliminated.

Maybe they can bring Nick back for one of those pro-dancer spotlight numbers on the results show. I wouldn't mind seeing him and Maksim and Tony in some kind of trio performance.

ETA: Is anyone getting a little bugged by both Jerry and P making comments about wanting to beat the other as they as if they are supposed to be each other's only main competition or something? I'm not liking it for a couple of reasons and I hope they don't continue with it.
Jaktwin
Missed the results show - though I heard that a couple did a Lindy Hop routine. Would've been a tall black guy (Ryan Francois) and his partner, Jenny Thomas.
And so while they're dancing all I could do was look at his shoes and think to myself maybe he can get it through P's thick skull that wearing dancing shoes won't ruin his cred.

Also, can someone explain to me the "Ashly snitched!" comments from a few pages back? It appears my local station joined in about 30 seconds late and I missed the beginning of the Ashley / P pre-dance segment.
MysteriousKitty
I have to say if this show starts going the way that AI did last year I am done with this show. I will not have it be that I am in tears(yes tears) becuase my favorites are going bye bye over that loser Master Pathetic!
ersatzreality
Ugh....when did ABC change the line-up? My TiVo thought the show was 30 minutes....so I missed the results. Did see the dances sans accoutrements - that was good. But ugh.
Knots Landing

You have to blame the judges. I'm really pissed that they keep being so hard on Lisa Rinna, my favorite, but are constantly trying to motivate Master P someone who has proven time and time again that he could care less about the competition. Lisa is sitting there really trying and still gets crap from the judges.

I have no clue how he manages a five this week when Carrie Ann gave Lisa a five last week. Master P should be getting twos and threes. He will probably keep staying in the competition as long as the judges like him. They could really throw the audience vote if they gave him what he deserves.
MDKNIGHT

I bet a whole bunch of people are pissed. I knew because I came on here that they changed it to an hour and made sure to be home by then but I had only programmed for the first half hour otherwise I could have missed it. I don't understand. Between the show noit warning people of the change and the people voting for P are they trying to get us to stop watching on purpose? It's like they want us to be angry.
MysteriousKitty
I'm telling you I really really think he is in there as a pawn for ratings for the show. I think the show would do well on it's own but this is REALLY creating press and talk. I think if people stopped talking about him and his patheticness(especially on the official board) the show would consider actually taking him off. Yes I know my message in a way says the show is rigged but you know what it's a reality show and I wouldn't put it past them.

Edited becuase I spell like Master Pathetic dances!!
BeingNicer

I don't think that the number they give him really matters. I believe that the scoring isn't done by the points they received, but by their order of placement. So, since he was last in scoring, he would get 1 point. The top team would get 9 points. Then they rank the number of audience votes the same way. So basically, if P had a 1 or a 5, the result is the same since he was still last.
clancy25
How long will it take for this clown P to get kicked off so we can start talking about the people actually trying hard rather than how pathetic he is? I thought it was pretty cool that even Tom Bergeron came as close as legally possible to say the goof deserves the boot when he said he was shocked by the result. Tatum seemed much more composed than last night and took her elimination fairly well, all things considered. Show of hands; how many people think that on the long-awaited night when P is finally eliminated he'll even have enough class for a final farewell dance with Ashley? Considering his "effort" in the actual competition I sure have my doubts.
chomskyite

I agree. Lisa isn't my favorite over all (that's Drew), but she's my favorite woman. Not only does she try & seem to be so excited, but I think she actually dances, which Stacey (the judges' crowned favorite) doesn't do. She doesn't have Stacey's lovely line, but she moves & has wonderful flexibility. I adore her & love the way she jumps around after being told that she's safe.
Tia is probably my favorite of the women - she has the right spirit, but overall I think the women are not as effective as the men. I partly blame the men doing a lot of dancy dances with the women doing sexy pose type "dances" and it's pissing me off

I like Tia, but agree that the men seem more effective so far. Both times, they've been given dances that seem to require more actual dancing. The posey "dances" of the women are being taken to a horrible extreme, especially in the hands of Stacey's partner. It may be technically correct as a rhumba (I don't know ballroom, so I can't say), but it's the same thing they did with the waltz. I'm bored.
I love the expanded results show. There isn’t crap on TV on Friday nights so why the hell not. Great to see a recap of all the dances without the useless filler.

I liked it, too. Thursday night is PAC-10 basketball night, and that always wins out over anything & everything else. I was thrilled to get a look at the dancers I missed. I don't vote, anyway, so this is all I need.
Who da hell is Jesse McCrackney and why is he on my screen

I'm not up on what the kids like these days (heh), so I thought it was just me. That was gawdawful.
I did like the professional dancers.

Except they almost fell during a couple of the acrobatic tricks.
If Jerry Rice continues improving at the pace he is, he is going to be awesome very soon. The improvement from last week to this was really impressive, and he had by far the best topline of all the men last night. Personally, I thought his piece was quite comparable to Drew's.

Especially considering that he's paying attention to the little things, like his posture. He didn't lose it until the very end when he and Anna separated. I think Drew is better, but Jerry is gaining on him.
I don't regard P's non-traditional dance attire as quite the crime against humanity others do

I must agree. As long as he tries to do the dances (which he did this week, even if he wasn't any good at it), I'm fine with it. I'm all for individuality. I don't think everyone has to fit some cookie cutter.
BeingNicer

Ashly should just walk off, not even wait to see what he will do.
AwNutz
I wanted Master Pissant to be gone until I saw Nick the Dick point not-so-subtly to himself when they said "one of these teams left will stay" before the announcement. Wrong, dickhead.
dreamist
He's a grown man and shouldn't need to be coddled. That's what I hate about having him on the show--it's like he's so special, or dangerous, they have to handle him with kid gloves.

I agree he shouldn't have to be coddled, and I honestly can't imagine how you could treat him any nicer than Ashly has. So I retract that remark. I simply wanted to give Master P the benefit of a doubt for being a last minute replacement for Romeo, and for being more engaged in the competition this week. Dance-wise. But Ashly seems like she's near tears or on the emotional edge in every clip. She really is not deserving of whatever shit MP is giving her. So, yeh, no longer conflicted. Begone, MP.

So Tatum's gone; No crying here. As per my post, she grated on my nerves as much as MP did. I figure MP is gone this coming week, or next; he's survived 2 becoz of fanbase but as contestants get eliminated the dance-based votes (as opposed to fanbased) increase by a measurable factor. He has zero dance skills that I can see, so unless college campuses nationwide are turning out en masse for the IRONIC vote, he should be out so.

BTW I'm calling a Drew vs. Jerry finale, with Stacy a maybe.
So sayeth Dreamist.
gmudude
I'm baffled at the Lisa-hate from the judges. I think Carrie-Ann gets her favorites and from then on nothing else matters. I'm no dance expert (and not a big Lisa Rinna fan) but after seeing the others dance, I thought she was one of the best if not the best of the women. Even if she's not the epitomy of control like Stacy, she does try to inject a lot of action and pizazz into her dances. It's really the flip of a coin with the judges... do they want technical proficiency or energy and emotion? I suppose a combo of the two, but they really seem to go back and forth.

On a totally trivial note, what's with Lisa going second and then going first two weeks in a row? On AI, this usually means un-pimpage.
ziglettospal
FREE ASHLY.

Well, at least one of the crazies are gone. I think it was the faux (or not) bitch-slap that did Tatum in. That, and the trainwreck-spotters. Although P didn't actually train wreck, not on an Evander Holyfeld scale...as a dancer, P was just stupid and boring. He must go next week. Ashly has better things to do with her life than be stressed out by P. (Nick probably has better things to do with his life than be crazy-divaed-argued by Tatum, so I'm actually happy for Nick that he's free of this assignment, but I would have been much happer if he had stayed in another week and P had gone first.)

FREE ASHLY!

Edited to add: I don't quite get the Lisa-dislike, either. Yes, her legs are wonky and wobbly, but at least they weren't pencil stiff and at least she's putting a lot of performance energy and personality into it. I think they're just harshing on Lisa to get her to really focus on her leg use, so she can clean up her biggest weakness and be more competitive against the others. If you could combine Tia's balance and leg usage with Lisa's confidence and energy, that would be a Star to be reckoned with. The judges can kvetch about the middling dancers now, because it will inspire them without endangering them...it's GOT to be P next week, after all. Or poor Tia, who I think is better than that, but if she's not popular and if people are annoyed at her no-longer-size-0 body, then the voters will turn against her. Please, let it be P next week.
FirstAndTen
I have a mad hate for that 49ers team (they beat my Bengals in the Super Bowl!) but I thought Jerry stole the show.

Yeah! Another fellow Bengal fan.

I'm sorta hoping for a Drew/Jerry final, with Drew taking the crown. It would be sweet revenge for Drew, the Cincinnati kid, beating the 49er great. We Cincinnatians gotta go with the hometown favorites. After all, the last time someone from Cincinnati did well in a reality show was...well last month when the Linzes won in the Amazing Race.

However, I think Stacy will make the finals.

I'm sorry to see Tatum go. She was so good for snark. I can't stand watching Percy. If I wanted to see elephants dance, I'd turn on Animal Planet.
sissykay
Thank you ABC for the first half hour tonight. I missed last night and was really upset. How pleased was I to find I didn't really miss anything.

I am really impressed with Jerry. He is trying and improving. He is still a little too athletic but I anticipate the grace will come.

George cracks me up.

I'm sorry to see Tatum go and MP stay only because Tatum was trying to do well and MP is simply a proud jerk.
TrueBlue
Can't believe Percy wasn't voted off.

Also: Lisa's boobs frighten me. I thought they were going to bounce right out of the teevee, hit me on the head, and knock me unconscious.
BeingNicer
I have a question for you dancers out there. Is Jerry at a bit of a disadvantage having a partner much shorter than he is? Is that why he has a hard time holding his posture? I would think it would be a bit of a problem. On the other hand do you want a partner to be the same height like Stacey and her partner? Give me the scoop!

Also: Lisa's boobs frighten me. I thought they were going to bounce right out of the teevee, hit me on the head, and knock me unconscious.
Ouch, silicone can be deadly!
Maniac64
MP needs to be eliminated. He seriously is ruining the show for me, I cannot stand to watch him dance. It's not even that his footwork is that bad (which usually drives me crazy) its that he has no emotion and reminds me of Frankenstein's monster out there. He really looks like he doesn't want to be there so why do his fans insist on keeping him around. But what ticks me off the most is his refusal to wear dance shoes, your on a dance show moron jsut put on the shoes. I don't care if his shoes are his own brand when he's on the dance floor he should wear dance shows. Even if its just to show respect to the professionals, though it's pretty obvious that he doesn't really have any respect, he could at least pretend and try. Man he ticked me off when I watched him.
Vali
Master Pathetic is like the Scott Savol of this show.

Huh. And I thought more like the John Stevens of this show.
TheMadOptimist
I am upset. I took Tatum's attitude as insecurity, not bitchiness. She didn't know how to take the criticism but tried to stay positive (working the program, in other words). Sad to see her go because I think she enjoyed it and wanted to try- unlike MP who embarasses the SHIT out of me. I mean, you area a grown-ass-MAN! ACT like it!

I will be SO glad when he is gone because he is bringing this competition down for me. And the judges need to stop being a bunch of punk asses.

I wanted to comment how I enjoyed Thursday's show. Drew, Jerry, Stacy and Giselle did wonderful jobs. I also FLOVED George and Edyta; they were infectious! Out of all of them, Drew/Cheryl s and Jerry/Anna's music fit them the best. I have major respect for the job Jerry is doing.

On a superficial note, I liked both Lisa and Cheryl with their hair down rather than flipped/spiky. Cheryl especially looked SO much better (cute without makeup too) and Lisa looked MUCH younger.

Looking forward to next week.

ETA: Because Cheryl and Stacy are not the same person...
Tegan Jovanka
I think apathy did Tatum in. She really didn't want to be there, IMHO, and viewers could tell. The slap was playful, and I never saw her make any gestures at the judges, or bait them the way some of the other celebs have.

I will miss the weirdness she brought to the competition, but she left at the right time. I just hope Tia, Drew, Giselle or Jerry aren't next, because those are the 4 I really root for.
dreamist
The slap was playful, and I never saw her make any gestures at the judges, or bait them the way some of the other celebs have.

I don't think the slap was hard. It was probably (Tatum being an actor n all) a stage slap in the truest sense. But her partner wasn't pleased. I thought he looked like he would sooo like to reciprocate.
lith4
I perfer the result show begin 1/2 hour instead of an hour long. It would have spared me from listening to Jesse McCartney sing.

Tatum was an odd one. I wasn't surprise that it was her turn to leave.

Just as long as Tia, Drew, Jerry, and George stay in the show for weeks to come, I'll be happy.
LadyKenobi
It would be sweet revenge for Drew, the Cincinnati kid, beating the 49er great.

I'm sorry to tell you that it's my fault we lost that game, FirstandTen. As I blew out the candles on my birthday cake, I wished that we would win... and then announced what I'd just done. You know the rest.

I think Drew has a good shot, but Jerry is quite charismatic out there. He and George are my favorite of the guys.

Another WTF Fashion Moment: All Tatum's dress needed was a T-shirt slide and she was ready to go for the Wham! concert. Neon green... why?
Poogie
I may be alone in this, but I was delighted Tatum got sent packing. It was uncomfortable watching neurotic behavior and bizarre facial expressions, whereas I just chuckle at Master P.

As a huge Niners fan in the Steve Young era, I'm rooting for Jerry Rice and am not at all surprised he's done well. That is a hardworking man with exceptional control of his body. I think he'll just keep getting better and better every week.

I don't know how great Stacy's dancing is, but even as a hetero woman, I am transfixed by her gorgeous body.
DuchessKitty
Does Ashly really have that many fans?
Seriously. I can't wrap my brain around more people voting for them over Tatum and Nick. WTF? Now I have to watch P do the Jive? Help me.

But honestly, who else could be voting for Master P? Are the kids back in the hood that he's supposedly doing this all for coming out to save him? Is it the Katrina victims? Who could be doing this?! And why? Send him home along with his ugly ass hat and not-dancing-shoes.

I said last night that if someone deserving went home instead of him tonight, I'd be pissed. And that's what happened. And now I am. He just doesn't deserve the spot. He refuses to put his all into this competition, and if that's the case, he should've been gone last week.

I'm glad George is still around. He'll be getting my votes from now on. It seems we all have to protect our favorites from being voted off because Master P has some friggin luck.

I seriously hope Master P falls next dance. Not on Ashly, because I dig her. But just falls. I want to see his ass embarrassed. And then I want Len to tell him that he fell because he wasn't wearing the proper shoes.

ETA: Is anyone getting a little bugged by both Jerry and P making comments about wanting to beat the other as they as if they are supposed to be each other's only main competition or something? I'm not liking it for a couple of reasons and I hope they don't continue with it.

I may be filtering it through my "I love Jerry" point of view, but I kind of liked it (well, at least Jerry's part in it).

I took it as Jerry trying to give P some respect (since, in this group and setting and audience and with his attitude and background he's obviously pretty much a "fish out of water). I also took it as Jerry trying to motivate him--treat him as an equal, as a competitor who's doing his best and maybe he really WILL start to go all out.

While I personally loved George's comments, I saw Jerry's stuff as the antithesis of that--trying to motivate P but not put him down.

It's hard to know what motivates someone. Maybe a "brother" laying down a good natured challenge to him will be what works. Its certainly worth a try.

Well, the worst height difference is Master P and Ashly, but I'm not going to blame their problems on that (although she's not helping by letting him keep his hand on her waist, instead of her shoulder blade).

I don't see the height difference as being a huge problem for Jerry. I think that Stacy is going to have more trouble with being too tall. I would say that the man isn't generally more likely to lose posture dancing with a shorter woman, but it might be more noticeable when he does. But Anna is obviously kicking Jerry's behind on posture daily, and she does know how to teach it.

All things being equal, the ideal height difference is probably around 3-4" (which becomes about 1-2" when the couple is wearing shoes). But inseam actually matters more than height for standard. I have unusually long legs for my height, and my most comfortable dance partners have been 7" taller than me. That's why Stacy is going to have a tough time in standard, especially if they heed Len's bidding and put in more closed material. Tony's going to have a tougher time looking like he wants to sleep with her after he gets a few accidental knees in the crotch.

*squeezes eyes tightly shut* Oh please, please, please, please, please make it happen. That would be awesome.

I was doing the laundry earlier and I briefly zoned out to a happy place where Romeo was replaced not by Master P...but by P Diddy (pardon me--Diddy).

I don't know well he dances, but Diddy can dress. He surely would have worn the sharp shoes.

And then I came back to reality and sighed. Deeply.

Go DREW!! ::waves little flag::

I have just one question:

HOW IN THE NAME OF GOD DID STACY GET THOSE LEGS?! Those are the fiercest legs this side of Tina Turner!

Has the show ever said if the order they announce the safety in is the order of who got the least votes? Drew was kept in the spotlight longer than Jerry, George, Lisa, Giselle and Stacy this week. Did he really get less votes than even Lisa and George?

Tia seemed to be near tears when she thought she was in the bottom 2, and then overjoyed when she was safe. Next week is going to really be difficult for her, because if she does a great job, people might slack off voting, but if she does an awful job, the judges will give her low scores and the fans might be done with her.

I think she will need every vote she can get if she wants to outlast Master P. Hopefully she will do OK and get through another week. She puts in so much effort, even after just having a baby. I'd hate to see her leave before someone who doesn't want to be there.
