I was looking at the show's
blog, and of the 3 bloggers, only Louis knows we're no longer in 2005. Kind of funny. I liked all the blogs. I didn't realize how much Lisa had going on behind the scenes. Sometimes I think she tries to put on too much of a mask for the show (she does the same on her talk show, she's always "up").

I had forgotten what a stupid, inane song Careless Whisper is. "Guilty feet have got no rhythym."
Now that you mention it, that really is a bad song choice for a dance competition. I'd want a song that did as little as possible to make people think my feet, guilty or otherwise, had no rhythm.

I also thought her dress looked like that ass-baring outfit Zulema designed on Project Runway.
Haw! I thought the same thing. But the huge, hideous appliques were pure Guadalupe. I bet they were even detachable... like Tatum's charm.
This show's song choices are getting weirder and less appropriate every week. When that "My Song" shit started up, I thought maybe somebody had put in the wrong tape, and that the dancers did a valiant job of staying on their choreography.

I can't decide which person I like least on this show...Tatum or Master P because I think they were both rude and obnoxious to the judges and their partners. Master P was worse to his partner, Ashly is trying very hard to get him to have fun and he won't because he's "keeping it real" and Tatum was worse to the judges and fans with her, "I enjoy acting." Well, if you don't really enjoy being on this show....why they hell did you sign up? And did they really have to ruin my favorite song of all time: Careless Whisper? I need to clean my ears with bleach....and no I'm not ashamed to admit that's my favorite song, though I probably should be.
I'm cheering for Drew and Stacy. Although, I really hope Tia stays around a bit more and works on her confidence. The chick is hot (extra pounds and all).
ETA.... 98 Degrees was definitely NOT a dance group. If you've ever seen Nick try and dance you'll understand why. They were completely out there because of their harmonies. And Rent is NOT a dancing broadway show. There's ONE song where dance is involved and depending on the actors it doesn't even need to be good. That's The Tango Maureen. I don't know what character Drew played but if it wasn't Mark, he wasn't dancing.

I was completely underwhelmed by wrestling girl's dancing. She has a beautiful body and great lines, but they only used about 1/4 of the dance floor. The other couples managed to use most of the floor. I see her moving from pose to pose, but not actually dancing.
Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. Stacy is undeniably gorgeous and fit, but to me, her dancing is very balletic and posey. Last week, I blamed it on Tony's choreography and maybe that is the main problem. I don't know. I just feel like the two of them never do much with their feet which is what I like to watch when people do this type of dancing. And I know chemistry is in the eye of the beholder, but I see and feel nothing when I watch Stacy and Tony dance. No connection, no heat. They're just not working for me. I would have rather seen Stacy dance with Nick.
I love Lisa, so this is not a slam on her. But last night proved to me how staged those rehearsal bits are. Girlfriend has been very vocal for years about doing strip tease/pole dancing classes as part of her workout. I'm sure that they're a big part of why she's so flexible and able to move her body so sensuously. So, that was certainly not the first time she's ever attempted something like that.
On the subject of Lisa, I wish that the judges would stop calling the celebs out on being nervous because that just makes them
more nervous. And they have every right to be. God, I can't imagine a more terrifying or intimidating situation to be in.
Re: the Tatum/Nick slap. It wasn't a real slap, was it? I thought that she just lightly tapped his cheek which wasn't cool, but it wasn't like you heard a loud smack or saw a red mark on his face afterwards. Kudos to Nick for saying such nice things about Tatum and being supportive even though she's obviously a real handful to work with.

Boy band "dancing" is nothing. It's no different than what Brittney Spears does on tour, and other pop groups. It's different poses to a beat, with the most complicated move a hop skip.
Real dance is all about the feet and the posture. Pop band dance is like an aerobics routine.
They are all performer. In show business some performers can't actually perform and made it for other reasons. If Drew gets eliminated, Stacey should be eliminated - she's danced professionally of a sort, has a heavey real dance backgorund.
Obviously, Drew is my favorite. I think he and Cheryl really connect in an easy way, they move easily down the stairs together, and they were the only two I saw who both looked at each other at the same time and smiled after they were announced; the others the pro would do the look/smile and the performer forgot. Drew succeeds because he gets it. He's not fighting any part of the process or fighting her, and he works hard. If Joey had done that he might have been as good.
DWTS is hard to get used to this time because the celebrities are all working hard at a better level than the celebs before, and so far the women aren't having to do anything with rhythm at speed.
Edited: the music sucked and I never have a complaint about it. Neutron Dance? Tatum is exhausting. She's all sourpuss and tears.

Stacy has quite an extensive dance background. Her ABC bio says she's been taking dance lessons since she was 3 and was a Baltimore Ravens cheerleader.
98 degrees was never a dancing boy band like NSYNC or Backstreet - I think I remember a small amount of dancing in one of their videos, but that's about it.
Thanks for the behind the scenes dish! Poor Ashly, now I really want P gone - she just sounds miserable. But the big question is.... Any Alec sightings?

For the first time I voted for this show because I think Tatum needed my calls. I guess no here has read her book. She had a messed up life and it's all mostly her dad's fault,(he didn't even go to the oscars with her because he wasn't nominated). After reading her book, I felt uneasy about her. She loves her children more then anything, I think that's who she is always winking at and she always mentions them.
Now do I think she was the best...no. But I don't think she should go yet. Also someone mentioned that she looked like Debbie Harry, anytime I hear Tatum speak she sounds so much like Madonna to me.
Master P should be leaving and that's all I will say about that.
Jerry is my underdog favorite but last night I really do think Giselle's dance was the best. I was bored with Stacy's dance, Giselle's had more "sausage" to it.

Not sure why all the neutral, ambivilance surrounds Tia. I think she is doing very good and don't understand what the judges and audience are seeing wrong in what she is doing. I really like Tia and I thought she was darn fine in her Rhumba (sp?) The lady looks good to me period and she had the hip swivels down.
I thought a Rhumba was supposed to be a fast paced dance.
Lisa Rinna is quite a freaky looking chic.
Giselle at her age gives me all the heat that I'm told I am supposed to be getting from Eva Longoria which I've never felt.
Tatum while crazy is not that bad with her dancing either. I was also impressed with her splits.
I said it last week, and stick by it. I think this is Stacy's competition.

I simply Enjoyed watching Drew dance. His is the only dance I rewinded the tape to watch. He got my online vote.
Don't like the way the phone lines are set up this time. The people who dance at the end are at a serious disadvantage -- they only have a half hour or so for people to decide to call in for them, while the first dancers have a full two hours.
I had to tape the show and watch after it ended....have some tiny tot responsibilities that can't be ignored.....and it was only after it was over that I watched the whole thing, and tried to call in when I realized that the time was up and I couldn't vote. Bummer.
Agree with posters who Love George! He is so snarktastic! I really think he is cute with all of this comments. He does not take himself seriously and I thought it was hilarious how he tried to get into every shot backstage. Like a little kid at a wedding. I hope he stays for his comments about the 'hood and the shutins. Made me laugh out loud.
I felt bad for Tia. I thought she really went the extra mile in getting the hula dancer in. Very cool. Certainly think she dances better than Tatum or P. It would be a shame if she went next.
Stacy has some great poses, but I find it distracts from the dance. Maybe it is just me? Love Jerry's enthusiasm, but Anna needs to lighten up a bit. She seems mean.
I hope Lisa stays in just so that we can see Harry Hamlin in the audience. YUM!!!
I saw him years ago in a suburb of DC doing a comical Shakespeare play. All I can recall is that some of the men in the court were wearing HIGH PLATFORM shoes. Anyway, I have loved Harry ever since. By association, Lisa is the coolest.

I was just on the official Dancing with the Stars board and someone posted some intresting information(it contains a spoiler so read if you want).
Last night my hubby and I saw the Jimmy Kimmel show on ABC and who did he have on the show? P MILLER!
P Miller sounded like a totally different person on Jimmy Kimmel. He was funny, pleasant, engaging, and the audience seemed to enjoy him. Ashly was in the audience and was smiling throughout.
My hubby wonders if P Miller is being set up by the DWTS Producers to be The Villain of the show in order to generate higher ratings and more viewers? It sure appears this way, because he was so different on Jimmy Kimmel than on DWTS.
If this is true, ABC must be paying him a lot of money to be the Villain. And why is HE interviewed on Jimmy Kimmel and not some of the other contestants on DWTS??? Something funny is going on here....
CAUTION: SPOILER in NEXT SENTENCE--
P Miller revealed that he is to continue to the next round, so unfortunately, he will be back next week. Lisa Renner was cut.

I'm of the opinion that P needs to go simply for the fact that I could actually see Ashly telling him what steps to do during the dance.
Although I do think this season's couples are performing at a higher level than the last group, a lot of those in the middle-of-the-pack seemed to falter this second week. But I guess they had so many weeks to prepare that first dance and only one to devote to this. I'd be really hard-pressed to pick a favorite at this point.

Jan 13, 2006 @ 10:22 am
Is that for real? Oh crap! Poor Louis. At least he wasn't the first to go. I wonder if I should warn MomCounse of this?
I'll echo everyone and say I don't get Percy. What is the point of dedicating a half-assed, lame performance on behalf of people?! And the attitude? Ain't cool And if he WAS playing a role. . .why would he continually bring up the Katrina victims? If he knows he's gonna be an ass, I would think he wouldn't allow that 'version' of himself to be associated with a cause that he seemingly cares about.
I love, love, love Jerry. I can feel my fangirl crush on him back in the Rice-Young 49ers days coming back. Sigh.
On the women's side, I'm rooting for Tia. That underdog factor.
And count me in on those that think Stacy, while gorgeous, is really posing as opposed to dancing. I saw very little hip action with her last night. And as they kept stressing, hip action is important in the rumba!

I understand and sympathize with the fact that Tatum has had a very rough life- her dad is a nutjob, her ex-husband is a nutjob, blah blah dysfunctioncakes. That doesn't change the fact that her legs were all loosey-goosey during her dance-I commented about them to my husband during the routine, so I wasn't just jumping on the judge's reactions- and when the judges commented on it (which they are supposed to do!), she got snotty about being nervous and saying "Acting is what I actually enjoy doing." No one if forcing her to do a dance show. You are an actress in a live venue, Tatum, act like you are OK with doing this until the final curtain falls.
I really enjoyed watching Giselle's routine this week. I also really hand it to Tia, because you can tell she is very self conscious (probably because of the baby weight being such a contrast to the hot persona in Wayne's World that everyone knows her for) and she is trying really hard. I also really enjoy seeing Jerry Rice dance, and I like his attitude.
The producers should let Nick and Ashly dance together for a segment at the start of the show instead of us having to vote for celebs we don't care if htey are partnered with the pros we like.

FormerOlympian , how are you healing?
Thanks for checking up on me
BeingNicer. I'm still not able to walk and it's been four months since my accident, although I'm getting pretty adept at using a wheelchair and crutches. I'm meeting with a different orthopedic surgeon next week for another opinion on how well my knee and leg is healing. At my last visit, the doctors said my tibia was shattered into more than 100 small pieces where it meets the knee. They removed all of that and did a bone graft. Right now, I'm coming to grips with the fact that my physical mobility is likely to be rather restricted for the rest of my life and I'll not be able to be as active as I'd like. But I still consider myself very fortunate.
Now, closer to topic...I'd be healing much faster is Ashly and Stacey were my private nurses. Wait a minute, I'd probably fake my recovery time and make it slower just so they'd stick around longer. A man can dream, can't he?

I also voted for Jerry, Drew and Giselle. I wonder who has the largest fan base. Do football fans vote on this show?
I do, I do! AND an Oakland fan! Jerry= the cutest EVA. I have not wanted to meet and dance with a celebrity so much since I was in fifth grade (and then, it was Patrick Swayze).
Did anyone else think Tatum looked like Debbie Harry tonight? Early 80's Debbie.
Said it before and I'll say it again: Bette Midler.
Master P needs to go home. Savion Glover and the late, great Gregory Hines wore dance shoes. Rice has more street cred, and he wore the damn shoes. If P had street cred, he wouldn't worry about it so much. He's a producer now, for crying out loud. Child is spoiled. Get over yourself. New Orleans has enough troubles without using us as an excuse. And the kids already have the nuns for role models; they don't need you.
Preach it, sista! Or brotha! I might add his quickstep seemed to be choreographed more simply than any of the other guys's.... George's seemed "light" on the moving as well. Makes sense for poor old broken George, not so much for a young athletic type...
Drew and Cheryl were actually quite good but watching them do the Quickstep to 'Neutron Dance' was so bizarre it was distracting.
I loved this choice of music. Loved this song back in the 80s and you don't hear it much anymore... seemed very right for this dance, especially with those two. I saw him skip a step here and there, though, especially at the end.

Ditto here.
Giselle and Jonathan -I honestly wasn't paying much attention to Giselle. I was so distracted by Jonathan and his hotness! Heh.
Again, ditto.
Giselle and Jonathan are my scond favorite couple. Giselle seems honsetly enthused about the show and what she's doing, and that makes her fun to watch. And the "Rosarita" stuff? Cute. I think the interactions between her and Jonathan are also quite cute: they were constantly touching/talking to each other.

I wish this could be like The Apprentice and they could have a surprise double "firing." I love Ashly vast amounts, but please, someone extract her from this mess! However, based on the applause and the yelling, I think that there's a good chance that we may yet see P "dance" the jive. The pair I think may be voted off is Tatum and Nick. She's rude, whiny, and twitchy. Yesterday, I read an interview with her done back when her book came out. I feel a great deal of sympathy for her, because her childhood was really horrible, however I don't think it excuses the choices she made as an adult. I may be more sympathetic to her as a person, but I can't stand watching her. She makes me uncomfortable for some reason.
Loved Drew and Cheryl. Loved Stacey and Tony. Loved Jerry and Anna (those two make me smile thinking about them). Loved most of Giselle and Jonathan, though her hip circles were so damned tiny that they looked more like a hesitant little wriggle than an actual figure eight. I loved Louis's antics on the pole, but I didn't think he and Lisa's dance was more than competent. I Tivo'd the show and barely had enough time to get in three votes for Tia and Maksim before voting closed in my timezone. I love Tia and feel the need to defend her against the damned non-applauding people. Is it possible that the audience wasn't cued properly? I've been in audiences where there was a lack of expected applause just because the timing was awkward. I have to believe that, because, otherwise, why would there be no applause at all? Anyway, Tia needs to be back. She can't leave before people who aren't dancing as well as she is.
I'm actually kind of tired of hearing how old George is. He's three years younger than my Dad. My Dad had a double knee replacement in August and September, but two weeks ago he was on his snowboard again, chasing me down black diamond runs for a few hours. And he doesn't even have a sports therapist. So if my shred head Dad isn't old at 69, George Hamilton doesn't get to be old at 66. I don't care how many yachts he falls off.

I thought that P. knowing who was getting booted tonight sounded fishy. Thanks for clearing that up, inscrutable.
I don't care if he's pretending to be a villain or if he's just not into this competition. The bottom line is, he isn't bringing anything fun or entertaining to the show. He's not funny (George), gorgeous (Stacy), earnest and hardworking (Jerry), batshit crazy (Tatum), enthusiastic (Lisa), sweet and hoping for a comeback (Tia), energetic with some natural aptitude for dance (Drew), or determined and able to bring the heat (Giselle.) So, it would be a terrible injustice if anybody but P. went home tonight. Everyone else deserves another chance next week, Master Put-Upon does not.

I can't help it, I love Lisa. I want her to stick around. She and Louis are hysterical together. If she could just ease up a little she'd be awesome.
Stacy, while I like her and envy the hell out of her body, doesn't do it for me. She poses to music (and crappy music at that!) and they throw in leg extensions every chance they get. I'd rather see someone attempt a more complicated dance move than try to impress me with how high they can kick every time.
Love Drew. Now, the only advantage I see him having is his background in music. His wife choreographed Jessica Simpson's shows, which were kept as simple as possible due to Jess' lack of dancing talent. Lea probably has little ballroom experience so I wonder how much she could help him, if she does. However, I think the actors have the advantage of being able to emote. Everyone's bringing something to the table for help.
Master Pathetic can shove his lucky shoes. Free Ashly!

I loved Giselle's hair this week. She looks so much older and harsh when she wears it up.
Tia did get some cheers during the dance review (when they show the dance clips). Tatum got no more than polite applause as did Stacy.
I think Drew's biggest advantage is his ability to move on a beat. It always amazes me how many people can't do that.
Stacy is this year's Rachel Hunter. I have the same problems with her that I did with Rachel. Too much posing, not enough dancing. If they do Jive and Tango next week, I bet that she'll be doing the Tango. The jive might be hard for her with those long legs.

Personally, the longer the trainwrecks stay in this competition, the better it'll be.
Otherwise, it's just one nice celebrity going up against another equally nice celebrity.
It seems to me that both Tatum and Master P are putting on huge fronts to mask their massive fears. P I don't care that much about, but I sorta would like to see Tatum bury some of her demons.

I'd say the same of Tia. With it down, this week... she looked like Cassandra and like she hadn't aged a day. She's got such a pretty pretty face and the weight thing really isn't all that bad.
I'd say it's almost a universal truth that a woman with long hair looks older when it's up in a bun or twist. I know it's true for me, which is why I always wear it up at work, or no one would take me seriously.
Cheryl has a huge, huge ass. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I couldn't stand Louis last season, but he seems to have more fun with Lisa than he did with Trista.
Is it wrong to say I want to go to pole dancing lessons with Louis just for kicks and sheer fun? That said, as some people need to step it up, she needs to dial it back. It's obvious that she wants to win, but she needs to be able to control her movements.
Watching the rest of the show:
George will most likely to do better in the standards because he has the pananche. I enjoyed his quickstep and Edyta was quite cute with the top hat with the end. And of course his shout out to his peeps...snark away sir!
Other than now knowing that "Neutron Dance" IS considered ballroom music, Drew did a great job. And for those who think he did tons of dancing in 98*, the truth is they didn't. No dancing in their videos, and other than their intros on stage, it was minor at best.
If I could vote by phone (but since I'm in Canada I can't), all of them would go to Tia. Not sure what she's doing wrong, but I thought she was smoking in her rumba.
Tatum? Still crazy. Nick? Still suckered in by the Aussie accent. Dance? Nothing special, though thanks to TWoP, I thought the line was "Can't you feel I've got no rhythm" instead of "GUILTY FEET." And yeah...makes no sense to me now!
Jonathan was borderline flaming in the rehearsal bit but I liked the rumba with him this time than last time since there was less posing. Plus he can work those pants. Giselle was lovely, but there are still some rough patches that she needs to work through.
And because it can't be said enough, Master P should be gone NOW. Even Samantha even tried to get that to his head that he's not trying and let out a big sigh when it looks like he wasn't listening. Cheryl was sporting a look of disgust at him. I heart you Ashly but for your sake and sanity, you must be freed.

George needs a better rehab specialist. He should be doing a lot of Pilates, taking his gelatin pills, and doing knee weight training. 66 is not old these days. Maybe his partner will hook him up with a better physical trainer/physical therapist (my old trainer had physical therapy credentials and specialized in rehab patients whose insurance would not pay for any more therapy).
If they can't loosen his knees, he's going to have problems with Jive.
Jive (Swing) was codified in the 1950s by whites, who codified the way whites danced it at that point in time. It originates in the 1917-1929 Harlem Renaissance period. If you look at the 1943 movie "Stormy Weather" (we have rescued video from "race" movies in the 1920s and 30s that also show how swing was danced then) you'll see that swing was originally MUCH sexier and more "Latin" in feeling than it is now. (Tap had the same issue, Tango has the same issue- they had to "clean it up" and de-sex it to make it acceptable outside of the slums and the rural areas. Once the middle classes adopted it in the 1920s, it became a part of the "mainstream" (called "Smooth" today) culture.) They de-sexed it to make it "acceptable" for white dancers. Jive/Swing is a descendent of the Cakewalk, a dance done in the black American community in the 1900-1910s. You see mentions of "swing" or "jazz" or "black" dancing in media outside of the US starting in the 1918 period (I'm a black and military history professor, so I have to know this stuff to talk about the Harlem Renaissance). How the dances were codified really determined how they were classified. As the dances became "mainstream" they were classified in ways to make them acceptable to certain audiences. For instance, Hiphop dance sport today is NOTHING like what my generation danced in the 1980s (I saw a high school dance competition at the Mall of America this weekend and was just stunned at what they called hiphop. Many of the 30+ year old black people stopped, looked over the railings on the second floor, and then made massive fun of the "hiphop" dancing and "outfits). It is being codified by whites who are codifing the version that bands like NSYNC cleaned up and de-sexed for mainstreaming in the 90s, not the version danced in the clubs in the 80s.
Jive to anything other than jazz is disorienting; same with Latin. Using 80s pop songs because they are familiar to the audience is.just.wrong. Rhumba to Elton John...I like Elton, but that's a wrong. The original music sets up the dance- not just the beats, the feel. You just can't get the same feel with this "off" music. Neutron Dance just doesn't have the same feeling as C Jam, A Train, or Sophisticated Lady. It's hard for me to get into the dance, because the music is such a disconnect. I'm sure it's harder to dance to it, too, because the music doesn't give you the right direction.
I'm pulling for Jerry and Tia. I want a woman who looks normal and not super ripped to show people that you don't need to be skinny to dance well. That puts a lot of people off of these dances.

Tatum was worse to the judges and fans with her, "I enjoy acting."
I heard that as part of her dancing. It looks like a lot of them are emoting, which they should. Last season someone was admonished for smiling during a dance/song that shouldn't have been all smiles. So, I thought she was saying that acting was a part of the process she could really handle and that it was the dance moves that were posing the real challenge.
Maybe I heard it that way because I'm pulling for her. Not because of her background. Not because of her troubles. I just inexplicably like her.

I noticed that, too. I was sitting there watching and thinking that the butch one of that relationship was clearly the red-headed Russian spitfire who makes football Hall of Famers yelp. That being said, Jonathan is adorable and can wear some tight pants.
The other thing I noticed last night was that they are
really pimping the VOTE angle. Every single contestant was telling the audience to vote. "Yeah, we danced really well and got good scores but that doesn't necessarily mean we're safe. Call in and vote!"
I really loved that Jerry and Anna danced to 'If They Could See Me Now.' One of my PBS competitions had a couple doing the Quickstep to that very song. Igor and Irina SomethingRussian, I do believe. So, in that regard, it was really nice to see them use a song that I've actually seen used in competition.
I do think it's time for P to go. I worry that he's going to advance just because people like how he gets other people worked up about it all. He is not this season's Kelly. She actually
did work her ass off and take cues from the judges on what to work on. P... isn't.

I noticed the silence too when Tia and Maksim's names were called in the end. Ouch!
Yeah, what was up with that? Yeesh. I felt so badly for them.
I still don't like George. All he does is talk about his injuries. If he's so sick and old and out of shape, as he constantly complains about, why is he there?
Oh, he's been a schtick-jokester his entire life/career! I don't think he's seriously whining and complaining. It's just the schtick he's chosen to use for the show! I love him. And I seriously hope he stays around!
Lisa and Louis -I think they're adorable. And I think Lisa's gorgeous, and has some great moves. Last night they were 'off', but I'm not ready for them to leave yet. I think they've got more great dances in them!
Drew and Cheryl –Wow.
Tia and Maksim –Okay, Maksim? Is hot. And Tia? Adorable.
George and Edyta –I love him. I am enjoying her FAR more than I did last season, because she's so great with George! I love the way that they're clearly both having fun doing this, and performing together!
Tatum and Nick -Not so hot last night. Very sloppy dancing, and her hair was distracting, flying all over the place. The outfit was very pretty, though.
Jerry and Anna -They got my one online vote! LURVE him, love her! They're terrific together. And I (and my husband, sons) thoroughly enjoyed the clips of them practicing beforehand at the football field. Hee!
Stacy and Tony –Yes, we get it. She has long legs. Yes, she's graceful. They did a nice dance last night. I'm still sort of 'meh' about her, though. There's just not much charisma there.
P and Ashly –The shoe thing is
SERIOUSLY BUGGING. And for that alone, he should be voted off. What an immature punk he comes off as, which is "P" for pathetic, considering how old he is. Yes, he actually moved around last night & probably broke a tiny bit of a sweat...but it was all Ashly lining him up and saying "okay, now move your clunky feet in a straight line across the floor". If he isn't gone tonight, I'm going to be seriously P-d off.
Giselle and Jonathan –Okay, my son is convinced that Jonathan is gay. Just thought I'd throw that in here, FWIW. NTTAWWT. Giselle is the tighest tight that ever tighted, isn't she? Yeesh. I've never seen a choppier/stiffer hip wiggle. I wanted to like their dance, but it just wasn't very good. Certainly not sexy. IMO. But? On the plus side, she looked 20 years younger this week w/ her hair/makeup/clothes...last week's outfit was VERY unbecoming on her.
Okay, finally, Tom Bergeron? Cracks me up. I love his comments, and he clearly is either encouraged to, or is willing to say anything that pops into his head! Hee! That's awesome.
His co-host. Yet again, I don't even understand the point of him having a co-host. They've both been horrible and pointless.

I noticed that as well and it really disappointed me. I'm not really into voting on these things, but I ended up voting via phone and internet for those two because I love them so and definitely fear they're going tonight. I just do not understand all the Tia-hate. Anyway, I wanted to ask anyone here who attended the show last night if they could shed any light on the disregard for Tia/Maks?

Why didn't they do the little snippet of professional dancers doing the dances, so we know what they are supposed to look like? I remember seeing it last week, but I don't recall seeing it this week. I really like that since I am not well-versed in ballroom dances.

THANK YOU!
Drew's is by far my favorite.
In Rent the movie, they upped the choreography of
Tango Maureen and even changed the orchestrations to make it more latin and added a musical bridge in order to allow for more dancing. But in the stage show, the dancing is minimal and Mark (the character) is not supposed to dance well. That's the role Drew played on stage. He's a dorky Jewish boy. It's usually played for comedy, not for legitimate dancing. The character of Angel is the male dancing character in the show.
I was underwhelmed by Stacy. She's beautiful, but her dancing left a lot to be desired IMO. I'm wondering if her scores and popularity had more to do with her outfit and how long her legs are rather than how she dances.

Master P is from the Desire Projects in New Orleans. His family was there, and some of his family were at the Superdome. His recording studios are in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. His home area was flooded badly. He's very good about promoting New Orleans, and sincere about the victims.
He's actually from the Calliope Projects (now called BW Cooper), a housing project that still had people living there before Katrina. And he does care very, very much about the city and it's people. I don't think that he keeps bringing up the hurricane because he wants sympathy and votes - I firmly believe that he's doing it because he wants to give it a national audience and remind people that New Orleans is still struggling and that we still need the support and aid of the rest of the country. He even went so far as to distance himself from Kanye West's Bush remarks because he thought that they were counter-productive. He said, "I think that if Kanye West [felt] like that, he needed to wait cause I got people in my community dying right now. I got kids lost, I got parents lost, I got people got nowhere to go back to right now, so we need the government. We gon’ need the president." He loves the city and its people very much and I think saw
DwtS as a way to get the word out to keep supporting New Orleans in any way possible.
Yes, he should be voted off, but I think that he went into this just wanting to raise awareness for Katrina victims, not to become a ballroom dancing sensation. Yes, the shoe-kicking was disgusting, but it seemed king of stagey to me. It's not his fault if the producers of the show want to portray him as a lazy jerk. I hope if he makes it through this week he starts to try harder, but I think that his heart was in the right place going into the show.

Last season someone was admonished for smiling during a dance/song that shouldn't have been all smiles.
I wondered why that didn't happen with Stacy. She was either smiling or giggling during the rhumba.

If they can't loosen his knees, he's going to have problems with Jive.
If they didn't make JOH do the Jive, I doubt they will have George do it either.

This show has sucked me in. I'm really rooting for Drew, Jerry, Lisa and Tia, just on their likeability and work ethic. Drew and Jerry really have impressed me because they have embraced the dancing and are putting their all into it, which is just a little bit sexy.
I like Lisa's spunk and Tia is awesome for getting out there so soon after having a baby. Good for her. I think the judges were too hard on Lisa, and after reading Louis' blog, it's amazing that more of that stuff didn't show up in her performance.
I'm not keen at all on P or Tatum (don't like their attitudes) and Stacy, Giselle and George are kind of whatever to me.
I'm enjoying watching the dancing if I can block some of the music choices out.

Don't like the way the phone lines are set up this time. The people who dance at the end are at a serious disadvantage -- they only have a half hour or so for people to decide to call in for them, while the first dancers have a full two hours.
That is a great point,
Eme, and will make it more and more interesting to notice ABC's placement of dancers as time goes on (i.e. I don't think its coincidence so far that P and Tatum have been near the end both times).
Jerry and Drew are my favorites, but I voted for Tia, George and Giselle, since at this point they need it more. I hope P is out tonight, but I wouldn't mind if it's Tatum.

When my wife saw Stacy's Rhumba last night her jaw dropped! It was the first time that I have seen her react quite like that to a female's performance. Her Rhumba was immaculate, with incredible balance, extension, feel, ease, and POWER to the floor, which is what causes the hip movement, not "moving the hips". Sometimes when a dancer makes something look so effortless, their incredible skill, difficulty, and technique goes unnoticed. (Hula can help loosen the hips, but it is not the action used in International Latin). Even in slow motion replay, that performance was flawless.
We both enjoyed Drew's and Jerry's quicksteps. Obviously they are not going to have ballroom dancer poise at this stage of their training, but they both had good movement and light feet. However, it again is the POWER through the body into the floor that makes ballroom dancing work. Jerry's sagging posture toward the end of the routine really made it tough on Anna, and this caused his partnership to suffer. A bit of both of their Quickstep's looked like they were dancing IN SPITE of their partner instead of WITH them. But impressive performances none-the-less.
The music is not as bad as it might seem. A true Ballroom, Smooth, Latin, or Rhythm dancer could dance to a METRONOME and make it look in character of the dance. Many professionals use music that is not strictly written as ballroom music and adapt or interpret it as such. "Wonderful World", for instance, could easily be played in 3/4 and used as a waltz. I have seen many slow 4/4 ballads used for Rhumba. Of course, I would PREFER actual ballroom music, but as long as it's the right rhythm and tempo, it at least can be danced to.
"P" should be disqualified, period. Any ballroom dancer can tell you that if you don't use shoes MADE FOR BALLROOM DANCING you will not get the proper support, can't use the floor correctly, can't have proper rise and fall, etc. America should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this travesty to continue past the first chance they had to get rid of this arrogant S.O.B. At least Evander tried to not make a mockery of the art form.

The phone numbers don't seem to change from week to week, so I plan to print out a copy before the show next week. I'm also going to make sure that I don't make the rookie mistake of letting my Tivo features seduce me into missing most of the voting time. No replaying before voting! This whole thing makes me laugh because not only have I never called any show to vote for anything, but until this summer's DWTS season, I've never watched a reality show that I could vote for! I think I get the whole American Idol thing now.
Also, did anyone notice that Len is now doing podcasts for the ABC site? I haven't listened yet, but it looks like description of technique to look for.

I wondered the same thing last night. Her smiles were out of place.
As for P-Ewwww. I understand his commitment to the folks hit by Katrina. What I don't get is how his (non) dancing does anything for the cause. What significant awareness does it bring if he doesn't *really* participate in this competition? For me, it only says he's an ass. If he's dancing for them, then dance. Don't be an ass and rebel against the very thing you supposedly committed yourself to doing successfully.

I think P's reluctance to wear dance shoes is more than just him trying to 'represent' or whatever-the-hell he's trying to do. He's promoting his own line of shoes! It's not "These are my lucky sneakers" it's "These are my lucky P Miller sneakers." My opinion of George grew 10-fold after he mocked P's "this is for my people" spiel. It looked like the rest of the stars are tired of P as well. Get off my TV!''
I only got through once to vote last night in the teeny 1/2 hour window after the show, which irked me a bit. I was going to split my phone votes among Drew/Stacy/Jerry, but only my Drew vote got through. Drew and Jerry are my DWtS crushes this season. I hope they show that clip of Jerry "beckoning" Anna during the ChaChaCha every week. huminahumina(drool)
I thought Stacy's guardian angel w/the star pin was adorable. You can tell that she's seen a lot of bad injuries around her in her Wrestling career, since the angel's not only watching over them that they do well, but that they also don't get hurt.
Giselle: "Well, I am La-teee-na..." I hate when people yank out their ethnicity to make a point. Pet peeve of mine.
Tatum and her bitchface response to criticism can leave next week, please. :)
And I never dreamed that this would be my office's 'watercooler' show.
