You gotta be kidding me!!! They killed Kenny! I cry foul! I actually feel guilty because I didn’t pick up the phone to vote for Tia. Why oh Why must I endure another week of Percy Miller? Ashley looked guilty for staying.

Percy go home!

I loved that the professionals got to show their stuff, but alas the quick step still looks crazy even with the pros doing it.

That guy singing looked and sounded as if he was one breath away from expiring and how do I get to be a back up singer on this show? Just randomly walk down the streets of NYC?

Jerry Rice is still sexy as hell.

Why did they have on the same clothes from last night? Gross! ABC right after yall invest in some royalties so you can get some decent music, consider splurging so people don’t have to wear funky outfits two day in a row/
Tomatonose
MP just makes me hate him more and more. What the hell was with that "I'm not dancing for the judges. I'm gonna stay true to myself [and not give any effort when my partner is there working her buns off]"

If you don't want to be on the show, and it's obvious you don't, then don't waste Ashley's time.
pinetree22
P gets to stay? He hardly danced at all. He just stood there flailing his arms as his partner danced circles around him. Who in their right mind would vote for him to stay? This is why I've self-banned myself from watching all competitive reality shows. But I'm weak, and I let my love of ballroom dancing override the ban. I should have known better. Why can't they just have qualified dance judges judge? Does it really have to be turned into a popularity contest?
HAB

Burt Bacharach sang like that 35 years ago too so it really has nothing to do with his age. However, he did write a bunch of great pop songs in the 60's & 70's (along with lyricist Hal David) so I have the utmost respect for that aspect of his talent. He's just not a great singer.

ETA: How can Master P Miller still be on there and Kenny had to go? At least Kenny tried. I can't see Miller getting any better. I guess I'm done. I really just was watching because of Kenny.
MDKNIGHT
I got stuck at work with a medical emergency and missed the first 15 minutes. What did they do before Burt Bacharach showed up to fill time?

What loons voted for P and dissed Tia? That makes ZERO sense. IF they'd said it was down to P and Kenny THEN I would say that maybe this thing is on the level. These results have me thinking P is paying street kids with a million cell phones to vote for him. I can't get over it. This is just a travesty. Awful but not giving a damn- should not win out over-awful but trying your little heart out and it damned well better not win over -I'd have more style and grace than you in my pinky if I were still 9 months pregnant. WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? Yes I already care. This is going to be rough for me.
fashionista79
Almost forgot, whats with calling it the "cha cha cha"? I've only ever heard it called the cha-cha.

It’s proper name is “cha-cha-cha.” I think dancesport has shortened it to "Cha cha."
I miss the Suxy. Maxsim is no Alec.

Ah, Maksim ain’t bad on the eyes. I think he gives Alec a run for his money in the looksdepartment. Plus, he's kind of funny.
George is not trying to be JOH. That was vintage George and JOH isn't fit to hold George's martini glass. George has been doing that since before John even thought about having a career.
Hee. I liked John, but I have to agree with this sentiment. My first exposure to George Hamilton was that movie Once Upon a Crime. I thought he was hilarious in it. George is a funny man; very self-deprecating.

I was surpised when they called Ashly's and Master P.'s name. I thought that they and Kenny and his dance partner would be in the bottom two.

I like the fact that there is a results show. We get to see the dancers do their thing. How exciting!

Did anyone see Tom trying to hide his smirk as the new host was commentating (toward the end of the show, when they were standing together)? I can't remember what she was saying, but she emphasized a particular word (and it sounded so awkard), and it looked as though he wanted to laugh out loud.
TrixieFirecracker
Lisa Rinna was way too cute when they announced she was safe. If she keeps this up, I might almost come to love her as much as I do the Harry Hamlin! I think that they are total reality show junkies. I've seen them in the crowd on American Idol and the Contender. Knowing that she's such a fan of reality tv really makes me think she wants to win this more than anyone else, which is kind of adorable.

I can't believe P stayed over Kenny Mayne. Kenny was at least funny, P's just painful to watch. That said, I can't WAIT to see him take on the Quickstep. Poor Ashley. I think P will soon realize that tanking this thing on purpose isn't going to work because people love to watch other people make fools of themselves. I don't know if he was so bad because he wasn't trying at all, or because he was trying to be bad and lose, or because he just cannot dance and wants it to look like he's not trying so that he's not embarrassed. I hope he at least tries enough next week that Ashly doesn't get injured. The Quickstep looks like a dance that has a lot of potential for injury.

I'm really pleased that Stacy stayed. I DO love wrestling, and I think it's really neat to see her do something that's more glamorous than skanky, and next week will really tell if she's capable of doing more than just pose. And I was so scared that Tia was gone! I really wanted Kenny to stay, but not over Tia - she's trying to lose her babyweight, America! Help a girl out!

ETA: I know they said that the results were in no particular order, so Tia didn't necessarily have the fewest votes (and P didn't necessarily have more than anyone but Kenny) but I can easily believe that she doesn't have the kind of fanbase that will keep her from leaving earlier than she deserves.
Counse
Oh HELL NO!

Tia in the bottom 2? Frankenstein P survives?! He's gonna either kill Ashly with the quickstep or himself 'cause there's no way they can 'pole dance' cover that! He'd better have been 3rd to last.

I'll miss Kenny and his demented dancing. He deserves to stay more than P.

MomCounse will be happy for Louis. He and Ashly were way cute in their dance.

How do you kill Frankenstein again? Stakes for vamps, silver bullet for werewolves. . . . .
totell
P gets to stay?

Hey, at least they made that announcement just before the commercial break.

I thought it was very considerate of them to give viewers (who might need it) a little time to recover from the brain-spasms before returning to the show.
Insomniac
Lisa Rinna was way too cute when they announced she was safe. If she keeps this up, I might almost come to love her

Damn her! She got me and I can't stand her. The enthusiasm was infectious. Hope I don't catch her lips.

Seemed to me that even P wasn't happy to hear his name. I sure as shit wasn't.
Tomatonose
I got stuck at work with a medical emergency and missed the first 15 minutes. What did they do before Burt Bacharach showed up to fill time?

They showed some footage from the 'confessionals' after the dances last night. The only thing I remember is Ashley saying that she can't carry this thing by herself, and then MP saying that he's not going to dance just because the judges want him too, he wants to stay true to himself. What an ass.

But then they had the highlight of the show, which was the professionals dancing. What a difference! So sad Andrea is out, because she was simply stunning in her dance with this other guy (forgot which one).
Mischievious
I can't believe P is staying. Ashly is adorable though.

Did anyone else notice that the cameras would cut to the couple that was to be announced next and then go focus on another couple as the host would say "and the next couple to stay is.." I was disappointed in that. By the time they announced P was staying I had it figured out. Grrr. Stupid foreshadowing.
Paws
I love how Kenny was clearly saying to Andrea "It's us. We're so out" or something to that lipreading effect.

He's so adorable. I love that skinny grey balding self deprecating SOB.
honeybee111
Oh, that was disappointing. Because P isn't trying. And Kenny was fun. P isn't. Love Ashley but P - totally got the pity vote.
WinkyDink
"Originally known as the Cha-Cha-Cha. Became popular about 1954. Cha Cha is an offshoot of the Mambo. In the slow Mambo tempo, there was a distinct sound in the music that people began dancing to, calling the step the "Triple" Mambo. Eventually it evolved into a separate dance, known today as the Cha Cha."

Just wanted to say that the camerawork is the poorest I've ever seen and that is saying some because I've seen incompetence before. I know this is live but shows used to be live (before my time) and I know from watching old Milton Berle and Sid Ceasar stuff it didn't all suck. They cover sports events live...if the next professional football/baseball game was this badly filmed there would be rioting. They were pointing to the wrong people or to the wrong place all the time. The director should be shot for impersonating a director.

So Grandmaster P was an even bigger ass in the first part of the show? Great just great. Poor Tia she must be heartbroken because she has to know it is her lack of popularity and not talent that put her down there. BTW I can't rewatch but I thought that while all the OTHER contestants were in no particular order that they anounced that Tia and Kenny WERE the bottom two. If I were her I'd be crushed. Come on people, lets send Master "I dance like Pee" home next week. Vote for everybody but him.
barkley
Ashly had to have done very well in the viewer voting in order to put Tia in the bottom 2. Tia was in 6th place, giving her a 5 from the judges. The lowest possible score she could have had was 6 (5 + 1 from audience). That means that Ashly and * (I refuse to even type his name because he doesn't deserve my time and effort) had to have at least a 5 from the audience (6th place) in order to put her and Tia into a tie and Ashly would win the tie breaker.
tonks
How do you kill Frankenstein again? Stakes for vamps, silver bullet for werewolves. . . . .
Hmmm... from Wikipedia: After the death of Frankenstein, Frankenstein's monster is overcome with grief and decides to travel to 'the Northernmost extremity of the globe' and commit suicide. But I always thought it was <Phil Hartman> Fiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrreeee!!! </Phil Hartman>
kostgard
Geez people. Let Master P go. He sucks and he clearly doesn't want to be there. I really hope he's the one gone next week.
LingPetunia
Why didn't they go through all the scores? I want to know who the frontrunners are at this point. And who the hell decided that P. would get the pity vote? You have to try and/or be endearing to the audience to earn that, and he did neither. He's just not even fun to watch, because he's so afraid of being horrible that he won't even try. Can Bruno please please please disqualify him?
outofexile
Good job people. You keep a man who wasn't even trying and said he wasn't going to try. But get rid of someone who tried and somewhat funny.
amityisland
Just wanted to add that Burt Bacharach, although very talented, creeped me out extremely.
va32h
I really liked that they gave the professionals a showcase of sorts. My biggest complaint with last season is that they ignored the pros!

I don't even know what to say about Master P (for Poor Sport) making it through.
Krispy24
Ugh. Can we make it a mission for everyone to vote for Tia Carrere next week?

Honestly, I hate these shows where they allow the viewing audience make the descisions. It should be like a real competition and they should leave it soley to the judges. Any country who can't pick a president shouldn't mess with my washed up celebrities!

Also, I think there's simply too many contestants on this show. Someone is clearly going to be overlooked! Still love it, though.
mrsonofbeech
And now let's see that again to see how women ages 15-34 feel about this one: they're pissed.

BOOO! I say BOO to this show's dreadful choice for a first castoff. I had never watched this show before, but Kenny Mayne is one of my absolute favorite television personalities. Everytime he is on ESPN (which is way too rare, just for the Triple Crown and his weekly bit on their NFL show) I have to watch, the man is a riot. So when I heard he would be on this show, despite my general antipathy for the concept of a ballroom dancing show, I had to watch. And the whole deal was fairly entertaining. Clearly Kenny was no great stuff when it came to dancing, but I assumed I'd be tuning in next week to see more Kenny hijinks and maybe end up sticking with the show. So I am very angry seeing Kenny get eliminated in the first week, and so unjustly.

I really just can't fathom how anyone would vote for Master Placeholder over Kenny. P clearly had no desire to be there--and am I the only one who read his "I'm not going to listen to the judges, I'm going to be me" as meaning "This ballroom dancing stuff is for fruits, if I act like I care people will make fun of me, so I refuse to do anything that resembles dancing." I could care less about the purity of the sport? of ballroom dancing in general, but buddy, you're on a ballroom dancing show, if you don't want to do it, don't sign up for it. But my boy Kenny was trying! And he provided glimpses of his typically stellar wit. Bring me the finest meats and cheeses in all the land! That was his 472nd homerun; not in this game, that would be a record. Bah. Kenny rules! I can't imagine that I'll watch a second real episode of this show now (though there is some temptation to just see how awful Master P is next week, but it may only enrage me further). Boo to this show and the viewers of America for keeping P over Kenny. I even heard Kenny interviewed on some sports radio shows talking about how psyched he was to be on the show and how hard he was going to practice. So unfair! Bah. RIP Kenny Mayne, Ballroom Dancer. We hardly knew ye.

ETA: I also meant to comment that I too heard the surprising statement that the last two (Tia and Kenny) were tied for the lowest scores or something like that, but I'm thinking that may have merely been a goof by the host in his time-filling patter. Perhaps he meant to say something more like "And one of these two has the lowest score" and slipped a little. Also, shouldn't someone point out that there is, in fact, a particular order to their announcing the results? Unless I'm wrong, I assume the person who is out is always announced last. Wow, I totally sound like some kind of nitpicking internet loser, but uh, it's true, right? Bah.
floretbroccoli
Wow. I agree with Insomniac, kostgard, and others that Master P was as annoyed as many of us that he'll be back. Cheez!

I loved seeing the pros do the quick step. I like the dances where you some semblance of the dance that amateurs would do. I can't stand what this type of dancing show makes of the "rumba" or the "fox trot" which seem to my admittedly untrained eyes to be a series of stretches, poses, and tricks. Sure, lets see the fancy stuff, but I want to be able to tell what dance it is my more than the music. Especially when they mostly use the wrong musc, as on this show.
kgoklahoma
They killed Kenny! I cry foul!

Don't you mean "I call shenanigans!"? (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

Seriously, though. Master P? As Guy says in "Galaxy Quest", that's not right.
Andreanne
Did I really hear Len Goodman say after the rumba/quickstep exhibition that the professionals on this show were on a higher level than those in the first edition? Quite a diss, given that the two "missing" professionals are Charlotte Jorgensen and Alec Mazo! I wanted those demented (heh) judges replaced by more competent ones for DWTS2, but now only Len's skewering will make me happy.

Percy Miller looked completely unthrilled to be back. However, to be fair, he did say in the "confessionals" that he would let Ashly do her drill-sergeant thing this week and he would work at it. That's probably because he didn't expect to be back...

Thank you, voting public, for foisting a quickstepping Percy on me. Kenny, I'm sorry I didn't bother to vote.
Lovesick Ass
The term "star" doesn't mean what it used to. I guess. I don't know most of these people. I decided to watch this time for Lisa Rinna, cause I'm a fan. I'm glad she's still in it.
Ellegado
I'm sorry for Kenny Mayne but there is a reason why Percy is getting more votes then he deserved. I didn't vote but I remember "Make Them Say UHHHHHHH!" So do many other people. They have to get him back for that torture. Because although it might hurt people to see him still in this competition, it hurts him a million times worse. Plus his partner you feel sorry for that she in even in this situation. She expected young buck Romeo. Instead she gets gold tooth dad.
ladygypsy
Gah!

GAH!

I even threw 3 of my 5 phone votes and the email vote toward Kenny. (other 2 went to Stacy and Drew) I was sure it'd be curtains for P. Ugh. With his expressions tonight, I'm sure he's going to do even worse next week. Can Drew's partner maybe...I dunno, quit and we move Ashly to partner with him?

Tia in the final 2? Gah!

Now, bring on the quickstep!

Well, I'm bummed, but the Kenny love on display here is dulling the pain a bit. The healing process will be a long one, though.

Earlier in the night I got a weird vibe that George was going to be the one voted out. I guess, at that point, my subconscious was warning me that P was going to be torturing us for another week. I actually had this fear, when it came down to Kenny and Tia (who shouldn't have been anywhere near elimination), that she would be the one to go.

At least it looked like someone gave P "a talking to" after last night's show, because he seemed a little less obnoxious. Still, he *must* go next week.
dbell1
Am I the only one who heard scattered booing from the audience after they annouced that Master Pissoff was staying? I know it wasn't just the noise in my home.
kechara
Was it just me or did Master P mouth shit (or something like that) when he found out he was staying?
I thought Ashley looked a bit queasy too.

I felt really bad for Tia who, IMO did a good job. Did she have a girl or a boy? Was it her first? No way I could have done that 7 weeks after having my first - I was so tired even grocery shopping nearly killed me.
Kenny1
I know they said that the results were in no particular order, so Tia didn't necessarily have the fewest votes

Last season they always announced the results in no particular order until the final two, which are the two couples that have the lowest scores when combining the judges vote and public vote. So that means that Tia and her partner had the second lowest total.

This may actually help them for next week as it might push more people to vote for them.
dreamist
Can Drew's partner maybe...I dunno, quit and we move Ashly to partner with him?

Nooo! I liked Ashly and feel for her bad luck - but I think Drew's partner is a fabulous dancer, and they seem very...uh, was going to say in sync, but that was a rival band...
Stinger97
I was a bit worred for George, thought it could be curtains for him tonight. I actually enjoyed his number, and had a hard time seeing flaws in it. But then again, I think everyone does a good job and am usually surprised to hear the judges tear the stars to shreads...

...except for Master P. I knew they were going to tear him to shreads, and deservingly so. So why the Hell was he given a pass this week?! He. Didn't. Even. Dance. Shuffling around the stage does not equal dancing. Ashly was doing her thing (quite well) while he just circled around her, waddling. Pitiful. Not to mention that he has an extremely bad attitude.

I can't say Kenny Mayne was by any stretch of the imagination good in his number, but the poor guy did heaps better than the washed up rapper. Sorry to see you go, Kenny!

And count me in as surprised that Tia was in the bottom two. I really didn't expect that.

EDIT: I really enjoy Tatum, and am definitely rooting for her, but what's with the crazy facial expressions? She makes like four different faces during each of her interviews. It distracts me.
BeingNicer
I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this show. Gosh I'm hoping that P Person doesn't have enough fans to keep him around any longer than next week. This could all turn into a bad joke, a very bad joke.

Sorry Kenny, you were fun.

ETA: You are all correct about the bad camera work. I didn't need to see Burt Bacharach's back up singers instead of the dancers. That kind of misses the point.
Lisetta
....who the hell decided that P. would get the pity vote? You have to try and/or be endearing to the audience to earn that, and he did neither

My feeling is that fans voted for ASHLY (who has such a great attitude and made such a fantastic effort). She probably has a lot of fans left from the Ashly/Joey days, as well as many new ones from seeing her last night.

Maybe people hated P enough to want to see him HAVE to do the Quickstep! Ha! I know I do!

And, ITA with everyone here about giving the pros a nice showcase. They've fixed all the things people complained of last season (so far). Nice to see and hear Bacharach, too (even though a bit sad to remember what a heartthrob he was "back in the day". But...still talented!)
bornonce
They didn't make the one change that I would have liked to have seen. I don't think that it is fair to eliminate anyone after just the first dance.

What I would have liked to have seen is this:

(1). First week - Judges vote is public; Viewer's vote is private.
(2). 2nd week - Judges vote is cumulative; Viewers vote is cumulative but private. Lowest couple eliminated.
.
.
.
(10). Continue until two couples are left. Judges vote cumulative and viewers vote becomes public.

I really hated to see Kenny eliminated tonight. He didn't take it very seriously the first time out, but I believe that he would have become more serious as the competition continued.

I didn't want to see Master P dance ever again, but since he was given short thrift on both instruction and practice time, he should have been given another week before he was eliminated. Apparently some of America felt the same way, although I could not in good conscience vote for him under any circumstance if it meant that someone else was going to be eliminated.

The same old problem that has been with most competitive reality shows. Letting the viewers count for half the vote can negate the judges vote, which is not how a winner should be determined.
Stinger97
That was Susan Saint James, chomskyite, not Lauren Hutton.

Y'know, the mere mention of Susan Saint James makes me wish that she'd do next season's (looking at Thursday's ratings, it's inevitable) Dancing with the Stars. I know we haven't seen her in Hollywood in ages, but why not? If Tatum got a spot this season, why not SSJ the next? Here's hoping!
barkley
The last thing I heard about Susan St. James was her son Teddy dying in that plane crash. She's married to Dick Ebersole of NBC Sports fame.

That said, I think she would be wonderful.

The pity vote and good sport vote only goes so far as Evander found out in round 2 last year. I was so scared that George was going tonight.

I voted 10 times by phone and split my votes between George, Tia, Tatum, Drew, and Lisa. Jerry got my 2 online votes.

Lauren Hutton was the love interest in Zorro, the Gay Blade

Just saw P (and Ashley) on Jimmy Kimmel. It was pretty funny - Jimmy showed a clip and said 'Now it looks like your partner is dancing her heart out and you are basically just standing there'. He asked P how he felt about his score, P said he didn't really care, and Jimmy replied 'That's the kind of enthusiasm we're looking for!'

So sad about her son. I remember reading it in the paper and feeling awful.

And even though I said we haven't seen her in Hollywood in ages, I just remembered that she appeared on The Drew Carey Show as Kate's mother. Which now that I think about it, could be a nod to Kate & Allie, in which she played Kate. And she's Christa Miller's real-life Aunt. Coo. I see the resemblence.

Edit: And I just realised that my entire post was off-topic, which I apoligise for. So to make up for it, I'll get it back on track...

Master P sucks!

ust saw P (and Ashley) on Jimmy Kimmel. It was pretty funny - Jimmy showed a clip and said 'Now it looks like your partner is dancing her heart out and you are basically just standing there'. He asked P how he felt about his score, P said he didn't really care

Again,,,why did he agree to do this?

My feeling is that fans voted for ASHLY (who has such a great attitude and made such a fantastic effort). She probably has a lot of fans left from the Ashly/Joey days, as well as many new ones from seeing her last night.

Agreed. I think most of P.'s votes were sympathy votes for Ashly. Even on here, how many of us were saying we felt bad for her and wanted her to stay (albeit with a different partner)? Plus since she was on last season and did relatively well, she is already known by the audience and has a bit of a built in fanbase of her own.

So IMO, the only reason P is sticking around is due to his partner's popularity.

But I'm certainly NOT looking forward to his quickstep next week and I also am doubting we are going to see P put in a lot more work this time around either.

You gotta be kidding me!!! They killed Kenny!

You bastards!!!

Why did they have on the same clothes from last night? Gross! ABC right after yall invest in some royalties so you can get some decent music, consider splurging so people don’t have to wear funky outfits two day in a row.

I believe they do it to make it easier for the audience to remember who they are and how they danced. It's a huge visual clue for keeping all the contestants straight. I would assume that they outfits are all sent out to be dry cleaned immediately following the performance show.

ETA: I know they said that the results were in no particular order, so Tia didn't necessarily have the fewest votes (and P didn't necessarily have more than anyone but Kenny) but I can easily believe that she doesn't have the kind of fanbase that will keep her from leaving earlier than she deserves.

It's my understanding that the first 8 couples named as staying were in no particular order but two left were the ones with the lowest vote totals. Tia was in danger, is in danger, and if we like her dancing we need to vote for her next week. I'll have to get my lazy ass up off the couch and actually vote next week.

Seemed to me that even P wasn't happy to hear his name. I sure as shit wasn't.

Yeah, I don't think he wants to be there anymore than we want him there. I just saw him on Jimmy Kimmel Live. He was slightly more animated. Ashly was in the audience looking adorable. I had to laugh a little when they plugged his new CD, Cookie Money.

Lauren Hutton also starred opposite Jim Carey in the 1985 vampire comedy "Once Bitten"- a movie some folks always manage to confuse with George Hamilton's "Love At First Bite".

And to remain OT- I just love the Russian dancers attitudes towards practice- DH and I just concluded that we need Russian personal trainers. It is sheer fun seeing Jerry get pussy whipped like that!

George is not trying to be JOH. That was vintage George and JOH isn't fit to hold George's martini glass. George has been doing that since before John even thought about having a career.

So true. I loved O'Hurley last season, but really, he's no George. I was a little surprised by how stiff he was dancing, though taking into account the ribs, the knee and the age, I think he did quite well. Hey, anybody remember Gary Trudeu's (sp?) George Hamilton International Tanning competition?

Also in agreement with all regarding Master P. What? He discovered he was too cool to be bothered. The only reason he's still here is? Actually, I can't figure it out. He must have a far higher fan base than Kenny, who sucked, but worked his ass off, and had a great attitude about the whole thing. And you know, actually tried.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Bye Kenny!

Oh, and Bruno, STFU. Every word that comes out of his mouth is like fingernails on a blackboard.
