]Tatum is just wierd. Has she become Bette Midler?

Hey! Let's not say things we can't take back!
First: yay! For getting rid of Lisa Canning.
And, of them all, I'll say taht Drew and his partner were the best, and definitely the most fun to watch. (I still get moments of "SQUEE" when I see him.) I feel bad he got stuck with such an unresponsive, bitchy partner.

And, needless to say? The worst? "Master" P. What? Was Sir Mixalot not available?
I wasn't sure if I was going to watch this season, but I tuned in and now find myself sucked in by Drew just as I was by Joey last year. Damn lingering fandom. How is it that TPTB manage to not only target the boybands I was like, so in love with, but to pull out my favourite members to boot?

Glad I'm not the only one!!
I like Drew better than Joey. He seems like he would be a really hard worker event though his partner kind of scares me.

Word to both of those statements.
Go, Drew!!
Margojata
In defense of Tatum (I don't want her to go - because she will be such crazy fun!), she looks the same as she always did - just - 42. Lisa Rina has a whole new face! Look at that old picture of her... it's more than just lips. And last night I thought she looked slightly "tighter" than usual. People that redo their faces annoy me. I don't think Tatum has had a thing done... I think she's pretty.
Boton
In Master P's defense (now there's a phrase I didn't anticipate posting), I would bet he was wearing dance sneakers, which a lot of people wear for practice. One of our instructors wears them, and she always looks like she is about to go play basketball until she starts dancing in them. That said, he still needs to go, soon, before he flat out kills Ashley in the quickstep.

Initial favorites? Tatum and Tia, for each actually pulling off waltz steps instead of 1.5 minutes of posing. Drew for not being afraid of the cuban motion.
RevLovejoy
I'm looking forward to seeing Tatum and her arrogant partner ("I've got the looks"?? Shut.Up. Douche.) taking on something next week where lots of spinning is required....just to see live puking in prime time.

That? Would be priceless TV.
Tanner
As much as I liked last night's show, I was jonesing for some Kelly and Alec!
Mr. Tanner seems to have forgotten her already and moved on to Anna Something-skaya.
Master P was an embareassment to the show. Apparently he has never watched it and Had no idea you supposed to, oh I don't know, TRY.
Lisa Rinna scared me.
That being said , I voted for Tatum. (Hanging head in shame.) Mostly because she looked like she really tried and took it seriously.
Dream Boy
Other than Drew, the women are owning it this year. Right now, I'm mostly supporting Stacey (since I'm a wrestling fan and she is from MD) and Tia (cause I think it's refreshing to see an actress not automatically bounce back from having a baby and a struggle a bit. Sorta like us normal folks). But I think nearly everyone showed at least some potential (except Master P. Ugh.).

I'm in the minority in that I actually like Drew's partner, crazy hair and all. I think he needed someone that could crack the whip. He would have dominated poor Ashly, much like Joey did.
Newhope
Why in the world the Master P feel the need to the dedicate his performance to the Hurricane Katrina victims? We have enough problems. It did give me good laugh though.

I'm projecting here, but I believe what he may be saying is that he's giving his appearnce fee ( I have to believe they get one) to some Katrina victims fund.

By the way, did Master P's performance remind anybody of Peter Boyle's Frankenstein character's rendition of "Puttin on the Ritz" in Young Frankenstein?
starwannabe
Yay!! The cheesey music with the equally cheesey singers is back! Since when did "What A Wonderful World" become a waltz? I don't remember it being in 3/4 time.

Samantha Harris seems to be a vast improvement over Lisa Canning -- at least she can get her words out without looking like a bumbling idiot.

My favorites from last night were Giselle Fernandez, Drew Lachey and Jerry Rice. Did anyone else notice the brief move in Jerry's cha-cha where it looked like a football drill?

And Lisa Rinna's lips still frighten the bejesus out of me!
katms
I miss Alec.

And I am so sad for awesome little Ashly, as they must be going home. I love that girl. She is SO damn cute.

Edyta's ass still hypnotizes me, but I don't want to hear her speak again. SSSsshsshhh. Jesus christ, the body on that woman, and I am a straight female.
sgtbecktar
So Master P's heartfelt message to his "hood": You can do anything and everything, don't let nobody tell you what you can't do. Oh, but be sure that you remember that it is more important to look like a gangsta and keep your image all street rather than give into 'the man' and wear the normal dancing clothes. Then put in a half assed effort, and then quote Katrina and shoutout to your peeps to cover your lazy ass from hard criticism. Inspiring. The only thing Master P's performace reminded me of in relation to Katrina was his effort matched that of local and federal government in the immediate crisis. All talk, no action. Way to represent.

Second: Ever go on one of those websites that let you use your mouse to distort a famous person's face around, carnival-mirror style? We have a whole team representing the concept. Between Louis' forehead and Lisa Rinna's face, Team Mongoloid is a fascinating thing to behold. Did Louis steal some of Lisa's collogen and inject it into his temples?

Stacy Keibler will either do really well with the public or suffer the Rachel effect where other women won't vote for her because of the somewhat jealous 'she aint that hot' effect. WWE fans (young men mostly) aren't probably voting for this kind of show, so I think she will struggle with the public.

I think the judges lavished praise on Tatum's "eh" performance in hopes of attracting more Oscar winners for future shows. Its sad that Tatum is probably the biggest name they've gotten to date, and they want to continue to build that bridge further to perhaps snag a Marrisa Tomei or maybe (GASP) a Cuba Gooding Jr someday. One can dream.

Anyone know if ties are still broken by the rank of the audience vote? If so, there is money to be made at pinnaclesports.com once a few result shows come up and we get a grasp of who is winning the popularity contest.

Go Kenny.
vailfiregirl
re Drew: Didn't I hear him say he was in Rent? Isn't that a musical? With, you know, dancing? After that, I wasn't impressed -- he's a professional dancer now.
Yes, Rent is a musical, but there's only a tiny bit of dancing in it. Drew's character would have only done one sort of tango. I wouldn't put him in the "professional" category just yet.

I would have loved to have seen Romeo and Ashly together. They would have been cute. Maybe Master P will stay and figure out how to actually dance so that Ashly can stay.
Andreanne
Thanks for the info, zigletto. On top of the Australian-ness and the name, I thought I noticed a certain resemblance between the two.

As for the wrestling fans jumping on my comment about Stacey's ribcage (yay! controversy!), said bony protrusions are not evident when she's standing still. I just noticed them during one move in the dance and went "Eew." Total turn-off as far as I'm concerned. Check it out when Raphael Pungin gets his videos up. On top of all that, I thought she had a colorless personality, although quite sweet, and her partner was irritating.

I rather like Cheryl's (Drew's partner) attitude and her non-ballroom hair.

I see now why Jonathan Roberts comes across as lacking personality on the dancefloor. Dancing with Anna, he doesn't need one!
FormerOlympian
My brain and mouth...they are speechless.

If there is a God, Kenny Mayne will be saved from elimination tonight. We must see him attempt the quickstep.

Regular readers of this forum will know that I've crushed on Ashley DelGrosso since last season and even asked Santa to drop her in my Christmas stocking. So that said, I'm taking last night's performance in her Christmas red shimmy dress to be a personal TWoP shoutout to my fantasies. Another poster upthread mentioned smoke coming from her shoes. I was too fixated on her perfect Utah derriere to notice her feet.

And Anna Trebunskaya reminds me of many of the female athletes I've met from the former Soviet Bloc countries. They're hot. They're domineering. And they know it. If you can handle it (and I did try to do my part for detente), the experience is unforgettable. I can just imagine Anna taunting some former lover..."What do you mean you can not achieve another erection? Is five too many for you? Do you need another cookie?
jenelope
I don't have a lot to add to the discussion. I thought Drew, Giselle, and Jerry were great. Tatum O'Neal bugs the crap out of me, so I can't allow myself to give her credit. She danced very prettily, but her facial expressions kind of reminded me of Trista's waltz. Whiny, doped up bag of facial tics. Ahem. Anyway, I wanted to like George and Lisa more than I did. They were adequate, though I loved Louis's hair and Haaron's loud booing. Tia was surprisingly flexible for someone who gave birth so recently. Can you imagine what kind of shape she must have been in before pregnancy?

And speaking of Tia, her partner, Maksim? Anyone seen Joey Fatone recently? Because I think I know what he's been up to since N'Sync broke up.
MeeMaw
I agree with those posters who think that Drew Lachey was the best celebrity dancer last night. Master P was pathetic - he wasn't even trying. And I thought George Hamilton was kind of sad. He was trying to emulate John O'Hurley, but it wasn't working.
BeingNicer
If there is a God, Kenny Mayne will be saved from elimination tonight. We must see him attempt the quickstep.
I just want to hear the story he creates to go with the dance.

..."What do you mean you can not achieve another erection? Is five too many for you? Do you need another cookie?

This? Coming out this weekend with p.m.c. (pyashun's man candy). LOVE it! Seriously. This is one of those things that will stick in my head for days. I will say it to myself at random moments and laugh, laugh, laugh.
sissykay
Loved all of the women except Tatum because I just can‘t stand her ever since I learned that she took Michael Jackson’s virginity when they were teens thus scarring him for life.

Whaaa? I don't even want to know how we know that.

Yeah, who bragged about that?

The show was okay but way too long.

I was annoyed by pace, dance, commercial, results, dance, commercial, etc.

Did anyone else notice the brief move in Jerry's cha-cha where it looked like a football drill?

Jerry’s dance was a very athletic dance. His crossover steps looked like he was stepping through tires and his cha cha was a ricochet drill. But the dude did it and tried and took it seriously and I believe he will improve.

We must see him attempt the quickstep.

I don’t want to see Master back. I fear he will do the same and Ashley will be left doing a solo. Not that watching her dance would be bad I just don’t want him back unless he takes it seriously.
A Boston Gal
Jerry Rice might even be a contendah in this race if
he just remembers to unhunch his back. Posture, people,
posture!!
GinevradiBenci
DL looked, at least, as though he heard the music and was there to, you know, dance.

I don't know if he was the only one, but he was definitely the biggest standout that way. At a certain point into his performance, I tapped my husband's arm and went, "Look! He just figured it out! I just saw him figure it out!" It was like it just kicked in all of a sudden and you could see the difference.
BeingNicer
and Ashley will be left doing a solo.
You know, that might be a great idea. Let's just let Ashly dance by herself. I'll vote for her.
TenPea
Was anyone else distracted by the wardrobe-malfunction-prevention devices worn by all of the women? When the judges were giving their comments, I couldn't stop looking at the "nude" bra straps.
jazmyne
I did vote for Ashley, just because she's awesome, and because I wanted to see if, after having completely embarassed himself, Master P can figure out how to try and dance. I wanted to give him one more chance to put in a little effort. After that, he can trudge on back to his studio, with his stupid hat.

I admit, the rest of my votes went to people who actually danced. I think Tia and Giselle did a nice job, and hope to see them for several more weeks. I was unimpressed with George, and I do like him. Jerry did really well, although I also saw the move that looked like a football drill, and it made me laugh. Then Tatum was pretty good, although off the dance floor she was doing this thing with her mouth where it looked like she was talking to herself, or like she was a badly dubbed character in a kung fu movie. I kind of agree with the poster above who mentioned that she might just be very shy- a lot of actors aren't comfortable being themselves, which is why they act.

I am the same height as Stacy, although my legs are longer, and it's hard to find a dance partner who is tall enough for you to move comfortably with each other. I've had a partner who regularly smacked me in the forehead with his arm during turns, because he didn't lift his elbow enough. Nick might have been a better match, although there really aren't a lot of incredibly tall dance champions. Dance teams look for uniformity, so someone who is exceptionally tall or short isn't going to make it on a team, and won't really get an opportunity to become really good, unless they just do individual competitions.

I'm not sure I want to see Kenny do the quick step. I'm afraid he would hurt Andrea.
handsovereyes
First time I have watched the show. I am in the ad biz and wanted to see what all the high ratings were about.

I am the same age as Tatum and I think she looks darn good. I am especially amazed with the drug abuse that she can look this good. She does seem a little kooky, makes me wonder if she is still clean. I speculate that her dizziness from the spins is related to post or current drug use. I think Lisa Rinna is ugly. Giselle has a great body for 44 years of age and I thought their score should have been higher. The athletic moves that she did were impressive for a non-professional dancer.

I laughed out loud more than once at the P man. This was the most entertaining part of the episode for me. I said to my husband, "oh my god, it is a white frat boy trapped in a black man's body!" Did they let him go on-air as the ringer for last place? That poor girl who had to dance with him, pole dance for sure.

Jerry Rice was adorable, and yes, he did a football practice move in their dance, what fun!

Agree with other postings that 2 hours is too long. Many of the other couples run together.

I didn't vote, feels cheesy to me. I will try to watch tonight.
LingPetunia
Just my two cents. I'm pissed that Master P. sucked so horribly. I love his partner and he wasn't even trying.

I think Giselle was the best all evening, but I think she will make it about halfway. I think she will fall victim to the public ala Rachel Hunter.

I guess I was just expecting more from Stacey, with all the heralding of her dance lessons, because I did not think she was fabulous. I thought she was on par with Tia and Lisa, who I actually like more than Stacey.

I like Lisa (dodging tomatoes). And did no one else notice that Harry Hamlin now has his LA Law face back?

I was very surprised at how well Jerry Rice did.

Poor Kenny! Eventhough he was joking before and after the dance, during it I think he was really trying. Failing, but trying nonetheless. I could totally deal with him for one more week.

I think George is going to go home tonight. He just looked like he was in pain. I think the public wanted to like him and expected him to do well, but since he didn't, he will get the least amount of votes out of the bottom three.

Oh, and if anyone finds out what drug(s) Tatum was on, share the wealth. I want some.

..."What do you mean you can not achieve another erection? Is five too many for you? Do you need another cookie? "

I will now think of this every time her husband comes on to dance with Giselle, thanks :)

Stacy Keibler - Very, very nice. Girl can dance, and is elegant to watch. My one 'negative' comment would be that the updo aged her about 10 years!

Drew Lachey - Wow. Not the greatest looking guy to ever walk the planet, and the quibbling was annoying...but they were TERRIFIC together! And surprised me.

Master P - Get. Off. My. Show. What a pathetic display. A little effort wouldn't hurt you, buddy.
By the way, did Master P's performance remind anybody of Peter Boyle's Frankenstein character's rendition of "Puttin on the Ritz" in Young Frankenstein?
BWAH! I'd agree, except that at least Frankenstein was putting EFFORT into his dancing/singing. MasterP? Not so much.

Tia Carrere - Impressive! Danced quite nicely. And I'm ashamed to say that I thought her a-hole of a partner was, erm, hot. Sigh. (hangs head in shame)

Tatum O'Neal - Seriously, folks, she's the poster child for bad plastic surgery. Her mouth doesn't even function properly at this point. But, on the dancefloor? GORGEOUS! Very, very nice. They just shouldn't have tried to kill so much time interviewing her (if it can truly be called that) at the end. They should have quickly made the rounds to the other teams/celebs/pros & chatted them up. That was painful.

Lisa Rinna - I'm not a soap fan, and didn't watch Melrose Place. But I loved her on the decorating show she hosted (hosts? They kept moving it's time slot around...). Anyway, she was fabulous. A little choppy, yes. But I enjoyed their performance. And Lous looked 1,000 times better with the new hairdo!

Jerry Rice - YAY!!!! He was great. And my husband/sons were thrilled to see him on the show.

Giselle Fernandez - Elegant. Unfortunately hideous dress/hair/makeup. Danced nicely, but very tight. Not in a good way. I hope she stays on & loosens up.

Kenny Mayne - Not funny. But he sure thought he was funny. Get him off my TV, please. He was barely trying, just wanting to make jokes. That gets old VERY quick, IMO.
ETA that my husband/sons arrived home just after Kenny danced. They asked how he'd done, and I said that he made Evander look like Fred Astaire.

George Hamilton - I lurve, lurve, lurve George Hamilton! Classy, elegant, funny...and he threw in JUST enough actual dance moves that I thought it went well. He was no MasterP. Thank God.

neciamorris:
Lisa Rinna's partner looks an awful like Harry Hamlin.

Louis von Amstel, and yes, he really, really does. My favorite part, though, was when he said that from the moment he met Lisa, he knew they would "have a bondage." You could hear the audience crack up at that. Aut235, I assume he meant that they'd bond because, as Lisa said, they are the exact same person.

va32h:
I thought it was adorable the way Harry Hamlin was cheering for his wife, and I swear I heard him loudly boo when the judges were being so picky.

I heard the loud booing and definitely thought it was Harry.

Actionmage:
Couldn't they use the cash to pay for royalties or something?

The non-original music is the only thing about this show that really bugs me.

By the way, did Master P's performance remind anybody of Peter Boyle's Frankenstein character's rendition of "Puttin on the Ritz" in Young Frankenstein?
Hee!!

Some thoughts:

1. I have a girl crush on Anna Somethingskya. What a total package—looks, hair, body, clothes. What a sweetheart.
2. I think Lisa Rinna will get kicked off soon—it’s the Trista factor. She danced well but she bugs
3. Whoa, Ashley, put down the Twinkies and step away. How can a ballroom dancer get chunky with all that they do?
4. Samantha the co-host is fine. She’s sorta jock-y—looks like she doesn’t’ belong in an evening dress. Give a 2k bonus to whoever CANNED Lisa Canning!
5. Gisele Fernandez is just great. With her back story of a dancer father, her looks and style, I think its hers to lose.

Also, I saw JOH dancing with Katie Couric on the Today Show this morning. I only caught the end of the segment, but she congratulated him on getting the Billy Flynn role in the Broadway production of Chicago.
Thank the Lord--I saw Huey Lewis in it last month and he was horr-i-ble!!
Counse
I think Lisa Rinna will get kicked off soon—it’s the Trista factor. She danced well but she bugs

I hope not tonight! I mean I don't think they did spectacular or anything and they're certainly not my favorite BUT Louis used to be my mom's dance teacher (MomCounse does amateur b-room for the 50 and older set) and I got some loyalty on that alone. Let him and Lisa stay a few weeks. MomCounse said Louis can really tear up a dance floor and I would love to see him get that chance.

I think I'm rooting for Tia right now. She was just cute and seemed to be having fun which makes her fun to watch.

I must throw in with the side that wants Kenny to last a few more weeks just for the sheer comedy that is his dancing. OMG. I don't think I stopped laughing until they came back from commercial for that 'demented' display!

So happy Jerry Rice did well! I was a 49ers fan back in the days of Rice-Montana (then Young). Hope he goes the distance.

By the way, did Master P's performance remind anybody of Peter Boyle's Frankenstein character's rendition of "Puttin on the Ritz" in Young Frankenstein?

I never saw YF, but Frankenstein DEFINITELY popped into my head watching him - and in those godawful clunky shoes too. I kept thinking 'Don't throw the little girl into the river!' I hope he goes tonight. Poor Ashly though. She was so cute with Joey last year and is still so cute now.

AOL has Drew and what's-her-name as one of their Top 5 clips. Their dance is currently winning the vote (in the lower right corner of the main page) with 51%.

Drew was just suprisingly great. I'm glad to see a few good celebrity dancers right out of the gate -- it will be fun to see some really strong dances each week as opposed to watching more for the improvement factor as I did last summer.

Also, I saw JOH dancing with Katie Couric on the Today Show this morning. I only caught the end of the segment, but she congratulated him on getting the Billy Flynn role in the Broadway production of Chicago. Wow. Who knew what DWTS could do for a career?

ETA This morning I got a call to be a Nielsen family for some period in February. Yay! Sweeps month! I'm going to start planning my TV schedule now. Hmmm. Who to reward and who to punish? The power is all mine! Muahaha!!! And Simon Cowell, I have one word for you -- you're going DOWN, mf!
bludevil
Go Jerry! He was may fav. Like his attitude. Master P got my pity vote, although it is pretty obvious he will be the first to go. Lisa is scary looking, ain't nothing natural about her and her partner is too arrogant to vote their way. The actresess have a desperateness about them, like they need this for their next job. 2 hours is a bit long, and surprisingly the ladies didn't look or dance like strippers. Love to watch the pros. Anna is the best dancer I've ever seen. Hope Tatum stays around awhile.
kostgard
I definitely agree that the ladies are really outpacing the men at this point, with the exception of Drew.

Overall, I thought they all had their charms except for Master P, who just stood there. Poor Ashly. I really hope he goes first, then ESPN guy can go next because that will stop being funny really fast.

On the Tatum front - did she actually succeed in taking Crazy Michael Jackson's "flower"?

I could have sworn I read that she tried, but CMJ started crying and freaking out and then he left before anything actually happened, because, you know, Tatum isn't a 10 year old boy.
fushnickens
I absolutely LOVED what Jerry Rice's partner was wearing in their dance. So sassy!

I like Tatum O'Neal, but it's kind of sad that they focused so much on her biggest accomplishment being acheived at 10 years old. Oh well, she did win an Oscar, which is a cooler than say, being a member of 98 Degrees (or a wrestler!). But oh yes, Tatum was high on something. Methinks it was cocaine (if you've ever seen a coke user's mouth acrobatics, you know what I'm talking about). Give the girl a piece of gum to cover it up! Better yet, keep her interviews very short.

:
poor Ashly! Are they EVER going to give her a partner who will actually try and LISTEN to her?

I didn't watch last season, but this comment kinda reinforces what I thought about Ashly and Master P.'s performance last night. See, I blame her. I mean, it's not all her fault, 'cause obviously Master P. sucked, but I think she did a terrible job teaching him. My sister theorized that she was just too young and passive to be a techer to someone like Master P., and that she could have done better with the 16-year-old she was supposed to have. But instead of teaching him, she tried to just carry the dance, and obviously that didn't work. If you've got two students in two seasons who aren't taking your instruction, you've got to carry some of the blame. I bet one of the Russian chicks could have made Master P. better. Wouldn't you just love to have seen Anna dropping the hammer on him?

I enjoyed Jerry and he was a lot better than I thought he'd be, but I didn't think he was the cha-cha god that seems to be the consensus (including among the judges). I thought he wasn't sharp and controlled enough. I mean, it was great that he moved his hips, but the hip movement was somewhat loose and lazy. It was sort of Rasta Cha-Cha. Regardless, he did wonderfully for his first time out and I think he has great potential.

I loved Lisa Rinna on Melrose Place so I'm supporting her on the show. I was pleasantly surprised by Giselle and Stacy as well, although Stacy's dress was horrible for a waltz both in cut and color. Tia was competent in the dancing, and her facial expressions were amazing. Really, none of the women sucked.

Drew and Cheryl are clearly the ones to beat at this point. Their dance was fun and crisp and a pleasure to watch. I dug them both.

Well watched my DVR and the rest of the dancs.

Lisa: She turned out ever better than I thought. And her "bondage" (heh) with Louis was kinda cute, though that's probably because he looks like Harry's younger brother.

Kenny: I'm in Canada so I don't get ESPN. When Carrie laughed out "I don't even know what to say!" that's all you needed to hear. That said, I did laugh at his story as to what they were "trying to portray." And any man who throws in the Batusi scores automatic points with me.

George: You sir, are no Peterman. In any way. NEXT!

Master P. Uh....uh....Free Ashly! Now! I understand if you only have a week to rehearse, but make the bloody effort to wear the proper attire! At least Evander tried!

Giselle: Looks like the dormant dancing genes are kicking in. Can't wait to see her in a Latin dance where I expect her to dominate. And yay! Jonathan!

Jerry: looking good. I found he stood in place a wee bit too much but the hip action? Yeah I noticed. I loved it.

Tatum: the requisite shot of CRAZY. Nick is in a world of trouble. That said it was a decent dance. Now I'm trying to figure out how she's still relevant.

In good news for the show itself: it gave ABC its highest ratings in the slot in over 5 years. Seeing how horrible they do in this slot overall, I think the chances it comes back in the fall have improved considerably.

Ahh...my catnip is back!

In regards to bringing the show back in the fall, it will probably happen.
But, we also don't want the show to become oversaturated (i.e. too many cycles like the Apprentice or Survivor).
Fox made a smart move by deciding to air "American Idol only one cycle per season.

Thank ghod I remembered in time to put down the coffee before I read too far. I pity the fools who don't realize the best part of DWtS is right here on TWoP.

I liked Cheryl's hair and I usually detest that particular style. I thought it looked good on her and was perfect for the look, sort of an updated Dorothy Hammil do.

And thanks to the drilling by some of our instructor types, I shouted out twice (once for Tatum and once, I think, for Giselle [would have to watch again to be sure]) "She has a good head/neck position!" because now I actually look for that stuff. I thought Tatum looked like she was doing better than perhaps she was because she was acting the part of being a dancer; she listened to the coaching and was able to rise above her lack of dance experience. (At least as far as I can recall, she doesn't have dance experience.)

I thought two hours was pushing it as well, but on the other hand, I would have been ticked if they'd tried to cram everything into 90 minutes, so what the hey. I still enjoyed the hell out of it.

Who IS Giselle? Some sort of journalist? She was the only one last night that I had 100% NO CLUE about. I liked her white fluffy thing, though.

I liked Cheryl's hair and I usually detest that particular style.

I thought it looked like an ugly wig. I liked her personality but I think she is quite unfortunate looking. What is her ethnicity? She looks mixed, but like it didn't mix too well.

Tatum's waltz was fine, but I didn't see how they were in second; I thought Giselle and Stacy were better and both Tia and Lisa were at least as good. You notice that while there were a few turns, they left out any repeated spins for Ms. Vertigo? Bleh. She's crazy and high and I like her least of anyone save Master P. Miller Whatever.

I'm definitely rooting for Jerry because I'm a native San Franciscan and life-long 49er fan. It's good to see a childhood hero do well.
I'm also a supporter of Stacey because I've been crushing on her since she became part of the wrestling world five years ago. It's funny that they showed most clips from the WWE wrestling(which she does occasionally). I kind of prefer her when she plays the "girlfriend" role, like when the "heel" wrestler is about to 'molest' her(in front of thousands of people and on live TV of course) and the "hero" rushes into the ring to rescue her. Stacey does the best sad pouty face. It always make me go "I'll save you Stacey!" when I see it!

Before I forget, let it be said that Jonathan Roberts is HOT. Second hottest guy on the show, IMO. (After Drew, of course.)

I didn't see this mentioned. When Tia said she learned one dance for one movie 10 years ago did everybody realize she was talking about tangoing with ...of all people Arnold Schwarzenegger in True Lies? I remember reading that it took him forever to get the moves down (like months) and still stepped on her feet a lot. I can imagine what Arnold would be like trying to learn the quick step in a week. Oh the carnage.

Yep, Giselle Fernandez is a journalist/reporter.
She was the orginal co-host of Access Hollywood 10 years ago.

First time watcher! I loved it! Dammit.

As much as Master P annoyed me with his non-dancing hat, shoes and attitude, didn't they say he only had a week of practice since he was a last minute replacement? Not that that excuses lack of effort, I just think it's cool of him to step in.

Drew = love. He's so the cute, and ITA, he should be paired with Ashly. Wee, cute dancing team!

Bondage made me giggle. I love that team, too. Lisa and that... guy.

So glad I gave up American Idol this season or else I might as well quit my job, disconnect my phone and get a mini fridge for the living room. Whee!

You go on with your bad self, germwarfare!
I once was chosen to do the radio version of Nielsen's for
a week in Boston, and even that tiny bit of input
went straight to my head. But I'm sure you'll be different,
and handle your newly found show biz influence calmly,
fairly, and without malice.

Heh heh heh.

Oh, I totally give Ashly a pass on this one.

Joey wanted to work his butt off and have some creative input, too. (Talented adults, as students, can often be such a pain!) But Ashley was still a good teacher and also worked around his limitations very well, I thought (in spite of the judges' criticisms of her choreography).

Master P just didn't make any effort (not even with the easiest part--right shoes, no hat). His lousy moves weren't because of bad teaching, or her lack of ability to inspire, (or even about "the people of New Orleans").

He just hadn't practiced much and apparently had no interest in practicing much. You can't teach someone who thinks they don't need to do the work..

And I hope the person upthread is right, that at least Master P is donating his appearance fee to a charity for Katrina. But, considering that he didn't mention one, I doubt it.

I really hope he's gone tonight, rather than taking a spot from someone who actually tried.

Prediction for final two: Drew and Giselle.

On the Tatum front - did she actually succeed in taking Crazy Michael Jackson's "flower"?
I am embarrassed to admit I believe I heard, on a Behind the Jacksons kind of special...that she wanted to but Michael was horrified and basically hid and stopped 'dating' her. I don't think the flower went anywhere that day.

The second I saw her on the show, way before she said a word, I was like... "She can dance! She tangoed with Arnold! It was awesome!"

From the Salt Lake Tribune as posted on the ABC site.

But it's professional dancer Delgrosso who may have the most difficult time with her partner, hip-hop producer and singer Master P, who was a last-minute replacement when his son, rapper Romeo, bowed out.
"I can't lie about that. I am worried. But I also have a lot of faith," Delgrosso said about her partner missing most practices two weeks before the show's live premiere. "A lot of [other dancers] started before Thanksgiving, and they're done with their first piece and on to their second and possibly third piece. I'm not even halfway with the cha cha [the show's first dance] yet."
After the two met, Delgrosso said she practiced only once with the music performer, who has been busy producing music and making a film.
"It has been an adventure for me and a learning experience," she said with a laugh. "It's teaching me patience. It's teaching me that I can't really force someone to practice if they don't want to."

(Why did he even bother?)

Wasn't it Bruno who made the crack last season about "the Terminator vs. Tinkerbelle," although, IIRC, he was talking about Evander Holyfield's Quickstep routine? And to think, we could have had the real thing this season (Hee!)
