Within the first two minutes, I was completely satisfied with the whole thing because they got rid of that terrible co-host they had last time (I can't even remember her name) who couldn't even get the celebs' names right. God, she was awful.

I had a feeling Jerry Rice would be good because he has a few of the skills necessary to be a good dancer, namely, agility, coordination, and timing. But he was also just so CUTE and fun!

I had never seen this show before tonight and it was such a fun trainwreck--good to watch while you're doing the dishes, the crossword, etc.
totell
I'm so glad this show is back.
Master P -- dude, why? Why even be on this show? To be honest, I sort of feel the same way about George Hamilton and his falling off the boat. The fifth time they told us that, I thought -- maybe you should have just cast someone who doesn't have broken ribs. He looked like he was dancing in a back brace.

Honestly, they should just let Ashley and Edyta dance with each other for the rest of this competition. As for the rest of the hoofers:

The Bickersons - I thought they gave the best performance. She's hardcore, but Nick's lil' bro doesn't seem to mind that, and I can see some pretty good performances coming from this team.
Wrasslin' gal and Tony - Enjoyed them. Cute chemistry and they came off as one of the more likeable couples at this point.
Tia and Russian Whip-cracker: male version - Another pair I liked. She's kind of adorable and hard-working, and I got a kick out him being alternately tough/tender, serious/goofy in his interactions with her. Btw, I think Tia moved well and looked lovely.
Jerry and Russian Whip-cracker: female version - They're fun to watch. Could turn out to be real contendas.
"Jippety" Cricket and Pinochio - I...I want them to survive. For this week, anyway.
Lisa and Louis - They deserve to advance.
Tatum and her Dance-Therapist - I thought they were just OK. Let's try to keep the interviews with Ms O'Neal a little shorter next time. For her sake.
Giselle and Jon(?) - I got what Carrie said about something being missing in an otherwise nice performance. Agree that she just needs to loosen up a bit.

I guess I was the only one who wasn't amused by Kenny Mayne. He needs to go.

I really felt for poor Ashly. Girlfriend was dancing so fast and furiously to compensate for her inanimate object of a partner that smoke was practically coming off her shoes.

It's amazing what a change in partner will do for a dancer. Louis creeped me out in S1, but I really enjoyed him tonight. He looked 100% better with the short haircut and he and Lisa had great chemistry. Their performance was one of my faves of the evening. Lisa really impressed me with her spins and flexibility.

My other fave was Tia. Her waltz was beautiful and elegant and I have to give her major kudos for commiting to this so soon after giving birth. What a head of hair her daughter (?) has! Tia must have had some major heartburn during that pregnancy. Maksim was fun with his Russian accent and his snarky comments ("That wasn't disgusting.")

I think that Stacy has a lot of potential. She's obviously very athletic and fit and has dance experience, but sadly, I wasn't feeling her waltz tonight. I think it was the choreography by her partner. As someone said above, there was way too much posing and not enough dancing in their number.

Giselle and Jonathan . . . gorgeous, but she was a bit stiff. I just love Jonathan though. He is great at choregraphing and teaching and he seems very sweet and patient.

I could watch Anna T. all night. That woman is just amazing. I hope that we see her and Jonathan doing some exhibition dances this time around.

Tatum acquitted herself well, probably all thanks to Nick. Love that Australian accent of his! And I think he looks much younger and sexier with the goatee.

Lisa Rinna's old lips (scroll down): http://www.awfulplasticsurgery.com/archive...en_in_lips.html. I can't stop staring at her collagen injected lips--she doesn't need it.
shibori
If you want to show the kids back in the ghetto that it's ok to try something like ballroom, how about giving the sport the respect it deserves and wearing the proper shoes and clothes and making an effort to actually try and do it well? I don't know which I found more offensive, the hat, shoes, and total lack of effort, or the transparent use of a plea for the hurricane victims to gain sympathy votes. Maybe he decided to half-ass it in honor of FEMA?

Thought I would hate Drew, but really enjoyed watching him, and Kenny rocked!
Mamalita
I know what people think of Rinna's huge lips, but I honestly think the girl was born with them. They've been that big since she was on DOOL many, many years ago.

She just got hooked on collagen before she became a soap star. She went overboard here, but they don't look nearly as puffy now.

I think I've seen enough Gangsta Chacha for a lifetime. Maybe he'd have loosened up a bit if Tatum had shared whatever she was on with him.
mtlchickie
Why, why, WHY must I be at work during this?! (sob)

I did manage to catch Stacy, Drew and Tia during my lunch. As some has said, Stacy is the new Rachel: great lines, has a background in the field...and that's about it so far. I wasn't feeling Tia so much, but she looked great and she has potential (nice to see an actress who didn't get down to her "fighting weight" weeks after giving birth.) Drew was pretty good as 98* wasn't known for major boyband dancing, but seeing him makes me miss Joey even more. Dammit, they couldn't pair him up with Ashly one more time?

Can't wait to see the snarktacular as Master P. Make them say "Uhhhh! No! Na na na na!"
DuckyinKy
I would love to stand near Tatum O just to breathe her air - I am sure I would get a Vicaden high from her scent. I sure didn't know she took Jacko's virginity, I need brain bleach please.

Why do I like George Hamilton? There is something about him that makes me think he just takes a women in bed, purrrrrr! He needs to give some lessons to the ESPN guy - that man seriously needs to get laid.

I *swore* I was not going to get sucked in to this, and here I sat on my ass watching it all night.
legaleagle44
Oh. My. Word.

Incredible, just incredible. Let's start with the good: Drew, Jerry, and Giselle--easily the best of the night. I had no quarrel with any of the judges's comments or scores concerning them. I particularly think that Drew may be the one to beat this season; he's light-years better than Joey McIntyre was. I also loved the irony of a former member of 98 Degrees dancing to Ricky Martin. Incidentally, I'm glad to see the producers took to heart the complaints about their horrendous music choices last season; these selections so far appear to be much, much better (but, so help me, if we have to sit through "I Got You, Babe" for the Viennese Waltz or "Eye of the Tiger" for the Paso Doble again...)

The bad: Kenny. Bruno was right; he had a wooden expression and flat footwork that was everywhere but where it should have been. Kenny, the Cha-Cha is a spot dance--you aren't supposed to move around the entire area of the dance floor as if it were the Quickstep (that's next week!)

Also, George. George, no one is expecting you to be the second coming of John O'Hurley. Stop trying so hard to be the witty, sophisticated one, and just have fun--that's what will get you through to hopefully, at least the Tango and the Paso Doble.

The dog's-butt UGLY: Master P. This man was the only thing that saved Kenny from being the worst of the night. Dude can't dance, can't emote, and can't even articulate a thought--and don't even get me started on that ugly and grossly inappropriate outfit he had on. Evander Holyfield, wherever you are, I hereby apologize for every snarky thing I ever said about your dancing last season; you are Fred Astaire compared to this guy!

The women really showed a lot more depth this season overall; I, for one, really didn't find all that much to criticize in any of them. I think a lot of it was just nerves, particularly in Lisa's case (and count me as one of those who thinks that Louis looks far hotter with his new haircut--echt weel gedaan, Louis!); I think once they get used to performing, they'll all show vast improvement over the course of the competition. Giselle definitely was the best of the women, but I thought Lisa and Tia were also pretty good--and good on Tia for reminding us about the sport's potential for getting its participants in shape. John O'Hurley lost 25 pounds during his run; I'll bet that by the time Tia finishes, she'll be trim, lean, and mean.

Oh, and one more thing: Bruno, sta zitto! Seriously, does the man have any volume settings other than "Loud," "Louder," and "Somebody stop me before I smother him with a pillow!"?

I hope the British, Dutch, and Australian fans watch the clips of our show on the Internet--I'd love to hear their take on things!
RhondaGC
Someone needs to tell Tatum O'Neal that when you won an Oscar at 10 and have done basically nothing significant in Hollywood since . . . referring to yourself as an Academy Award winner just comes off as sad and pathetic.

Also, I am absolutely coveting that gorgeous green gown that Samantha was wearing. My favorite color and a wonderful cut. She looked faboo.

"Eye of the Tiger" for the Paso Doble

In a deathmatch between Eye of the Tiger Paso and "My Heart Will Go On" Paso Doble, which causes the ears to bleed first?

Almost forgot, whats with calling it the "cha cha cha"? I've only ever heard it called the cha-cha.
SourJoy84
I wasn't sure if I was going to watch this season, but I tuned in and now find myself sucked in by Drew just as I was by Joey last year. Damn lingering fandom. How is it that TPTB manage to not only target the boybands I was like, so in love with, but to pull out my favourite members to boot?

Oh, Ashly. If yelling at my TV for Master P to stop being such an apathetic assmunch would've helped... well, I would've done more of it.

Natural or otherwise, Lynn Echolls's lips continue to distract me. Definitely want her to move on, though, if for no other reason than to amuse the VM-fangirl in me.

::waits for entertainment media to go apeshit over Nick Lachey's attendance::
River Run
Did anyone else think they saw Christopher Walken in the audience? Right behind the host as he recapped with the dancers???

I thought that was David Carradine.

It seemed to me that Drew Lachey was the only "celebrity" who actually danced. All of the others were remembering their choreography, trying not to fall, emphasizing whatever their teacher-partners told them to -- posture, extension, etc. If you saw any of them on the dance floor at, say, a wedding, you'd have no idea what they were doing there. DL looked, at least, as though he heard the music and was there to, you know, dance.

Wordy. Mc. Word. I love the Nicklet! And I don't even know any 98 Degrees songs.

They know that teenybopper fandom will NEVER, EVER die. Blast them for knowing my weakness!
Ray of Sunshine
Loved Jerry Rice thought he did a great job. Master P needs to just go home. Can't stand looking at Lisa Rinna's fake lips. Drew was good and I am glad that he commented on the dancing being different.

It will be fun to see who moves on tomorrow.
dr gailey
I think that this season sucks already. I miss my Kelly and Alec.
missknowitall
I was completely satisfied with the whole thing because they got rid of that terrible co-host they had last time (I can't even remember her name)

Lisa Canning?

As for Master P. Why a complete asswipe. He could have at least tried. If they couldn't find someone quick enough they just should have quit at nine couples, but at least this assures more comedy next week with Kenny.
BlondNotStupid
<small voice> In defense of Master P, Ashley said that Romeo dropped out, that Master P stepped in but she only had a week to work with him. Think about how lame several of these people looked in the practice footage. Master P might (might being the key word here) have been better if he'd had a couple of weeks practice like the others. And I think his comment about dedicating his performance to New Orleans and Baton Rouge referred to just diving in and trying to do something even when you feel overwhelmed and underprepared. Not that learning to ballroom dance is equivalent to rebuilding whole cities, but you probably get my drift. <small voice>

Putting on some proper shoes would have been a start.

Agree that that was Larry Hamlin booing the loudest when his wife was being criticized. He has a particular timber to his voice.

As stated before Christopher Walken is an excellent dancer and so couldn't do this it wouldn't be fare but boy oh boy wouldn't an exhibition dance by him and Charlotte be magnicificent?

Kenny is hilarious and I think he may be to DWTS what Bai Ling was to But can they Sing. I say keep him around for now for the comic relief and hey wierd things happen he may get better.

Liked the Russian "Dance Or DIE" girl. I bet she has no idea how funny she can be. She has looks and talent so I hope she goes far. I don't really know her dance partner but he's doing pretty well so I like him.

Wrestler girl was much better than I thought she'd be. Muscular does not necessarily mean flexible so I was impressed. She needs a little more sense of rhythm so I fear for her cha cha but she may get it in time.

Tia...glad she did well. She is elegant and deserves to hang around for now.
Tatum, not the embarassment to rhythm I thought she'd be. Knew she'd use the acting skills and glad she was upfront about it. Expect little scenes with characters ala Jon and Charlotte IF Tatum doesn't spaz out and quit.

Since I was late and asked my mom to tape for me I came in at the second half and asked if the woman with the genormous-20-pounds-of-collagen lips had danced yet. She said no. When the show was over and I knew for sure she had to be in the first half and played it back I pointed her out. My mom said she missed the lips because they were camoflaged by very pale lipstick. I told her Lisa usually wears red lip gloss. We agreed that that is scary. Do you think feedback has gotten back to her about how fans feel about her lips? Her dancing was a little stiff but I thought showed promise.

Grandmaster P......in the words of Ice Age[that] was an embarassment to nature. Wow. It's not just that in theory he should have rhythm, it's that he is in the MUSIC business. How can you understand music and not have the slightest idea how to move? I mean really there's beats and measures , heck rap has to be said to a certain rhythm it's not like they can just talk. What the hell? I hope he goes first for not even trying and not respecting the competition enough to dress suitably. I felt so bad for Ashley I really wanted to see her do well.

I miss Charlotte and Alec. Hope they are well wherever they are.

BTW you don't have to be 45 to remember the Batusi AND if you didn't know it from Batman you may have picked it up from the famous Pulp Fiction dance scene with Uma Thurman and John Travolta
msrayrudd
Whoever said Drew Lachey and Ashly would make a snappy couple, I say Amen! They'd be so cute and zippy!

Wow, I know Drew is sort of like this season's Joey, but he and Ashly would be adorable together. I have to say though, I like Drew better than Joey. He seems like he would be a really hard worker event though his partner kind of scares me.

I also feel so bad for Ashly. She was trying her hardest hoping that if she move enough no one would notice Master P. was doing a darn thing. Poor girl but she's honestly probably praying they get voted off first so she is put out of her misery.

Kenny sucked, but I think he'll get the pity vote because at least he tried. Master P. has to be the first to go.

Honestly outside of Master P. and Kenny, I thought they were all pretty decent for the first week. They all showed potential. Granted, I know nothing about ballroom dance but none of them were so awesomely bad outside of the two already noted.

Lisa Rinna was better than I was expecting. Her lips scare me, but she really has an awesome body.

Tatum, not bad but girl will bring the crazy. They might not want to let her talk so much but she will definitely be the crazy one. It is kind of sad that they have to keep touting her as an Oscar winner as if she's had an illustrious career since then.

Drew might squeak by on the cute factor. I hate to admit it but I once saw 98 Degrees in concert. Yes, there, I said it. He's good, but I think he's got the fan girl vote.
alliebear
Isn't Master P from New Orleans?
barkley
I miss the Suxy. Maxsim is no Alec.

I thought Drew was awesome. He did the most actual dancing of all the men.

George is not trying to be JOH. That was vintage George and JOH isn't fit to hold George's martini glass. George has been doing that since before John even thought about having a career.

Giselle annoys the hell out of me for some reason, but boy does that woman work out! She must have 3% body fat.

Tatum was much better than I expected and she looked completely elegant until she started with the crazy at the end. She was my mom's favorite because according to her "she did the most actual dancing instead of stop and pose".

I watched half of Kenny's performance with my hands over my eyes but he won me over with his "story" at the end.

I liked Lisa and Louis and I think the judges just don't like them for some reason.

I don't like Drew's partner whatsoever. She and Drew need to have a falling out and have Ashly come save the day.
Aredhel
Is there a specific reason all the dance professionals except Nick are Latin champions? Were there no smooth/standard professionals who wanted to be on the show?
woopwoopkitty
Jerry was awesome, now the man just needs to wear some tight pants so we can see the whole package! Pleated fronts don't work for dancing.

I was prepared to hate Drew just for the blond bimbo connection, but I really like him and his dancing.

Kenny gets points for trying, P you are a lame ass.

I really felt for poor Ashly. Girlfriend was dancing so fast and furiously to compensate for her inanimate object of a partner that smoke was practically coming off her shoes.

Evander Holyfield, wherever you are, I hereby apologize for every snarky thing I ever said about your dancing last season; you are Fred Astaire compared to this guy!

Word McWordness.

Ashley sweetie, you got screwed. He only had a week to practice? So what - he didn't even try. I hate to see Ashey get kicked off so soon again.

I think Tia Carrere deserves about a thousand extra bonus points for having the guts to do this show weeks after giving birth.

That took guts. I hope she loses weight like Peterman did.

I can't get into the wrestling chick because I don't have a clue who she is! And from the far shots, she looked like Paris Hilton!

I thought she spent far too much effort trying to prove to us what a skinny torso she had more than anything. Eat a sammich, woman!

Loved all of the women except Tatum because I just can‘t stand her ever since I learned that she took Michael Jackson’s virginity when they were teens thus scarring him for life.

Whaaa? I don't even want to know how we know that.
Andreanne
I do not repeat NOT want to see Master P doing the quickstep next week. He has to be voted off now. This is mandatory. Poor Ashly.

I'd never heard of Kenny Mayne, but I want him to say. His dancing sucks, but he just went for it anyway. Plus he has a sense of humor. It's a shame he got stuck with such a loser partner.

The very weird Tatum O'Neal should be the next to go, after Master P. BTW, does anyone know if Nick Kosovich is related to Tonia Kosovich who used to dance with Jason Roditis?

The wrestling diva was a major disappointment after all the hype by her fans. Legs, yes, body, yes (although I could have done without the bony ribcage jutting out), but no rhythm and not much movement.

Drew Lachey was the most fun to watch, followed by Jerry Rice, Tia Carrere and Giselle Fernandez. Jerry Rice has to stay until the end so we can keep on watching Anna Trebunskaya.

Nice to see two seconds of Alec Mazo. Thanks, ABC.
bagatelle1
Wow! What a difference a few months and a serious drug problem can do to a person. O'Neal looked much older than Lisa Rinna.

To be fair, I think O'Neal just had a lot less surgery.
Tango Lady
Is there a specific reason all the dance professionals except Nick are Latin champions? Were there no smooth/standard professionals who wanted to be on the show?

I think there are fewer "characters" among the standard dancers, at least the ones willing to do something like this. They were very Latin-heavy last season, too. But Jonathan Roberts actually used to dance smooth, if I remember correctly, and I tend to think of Andrea Hale as a standard dancer, although she was actualy a 10-dancer.
foci

I haven't really been following the hype about this show so I did not see her until tonight, but I did not see a bony ribcage, just lots of muscle. She was easily the most muscular female of the night. A lot of people don't find that attractive in women but I would love to have that body. I would also kill to look like Jerry Rice's partner (Anna?), she looked amazing during their dance. Mr. Foci got tired of me commenting on what a fabulous figure and outfit she had. I also got a kick out of how tough she was on Jerry.
Lisetta
I wasn't going to watch. But, it was good!

First, they fixed the music! Yay!

Second, Samantha's so much better than Lisa. I don't know why, they both seem nice enough, but somehow Samantha's questions and personality just don't seem as awkward and grating. (Pretty dress, too).

I think Tom does a very good job and I like his quips, from time to time (not overdone). I enjoy all three judges (although why someone would decide to choreograph primarily open movements for the waltz, knowing full well that Len HATES that, I have no idea. Maybe its just a sign of desperation when they need to cover for their partner...Lisa, I think, on this one).

Drew: I had low expectations, but he was really good--and brought some much needed chemistry (Jerry, too).

Louis: Looks good without the pony tail. Now, if I could just get over the feeling that he wants to wear the same thing as Lisa in the practice, I could enjoy watching him more. (Their friendship was cute, though).

Stacy: I had no idea that female wrestlers were so pretty, graceful and likeable. She'll be around for a while.

Tatum: I didn't get all that the judges did from Tatum's waltz, but I was glad she did it well. As for the weirdness at the end, I think she's (maybe) not a bitch or wacko, just very shy.

Ashley: "P" should go, but too bad she'll need when he does (hopefully, tomorrow). She was such a great sport and did so well with so little. (I liked his statement about wanting to inspire people in the hood to try something different, but Len had it right, too--you're not really "trying" it, unless you're willing to practice...hard).

Kenny: I think he answered the question a lot of guys watching at home have, "I wonder how I'd do?" His insecurity bothers me, but at least he really wanted to do well.

George: Nothing like John at all, except that he has his humor schtick, always, and can carry off a tux. He needs to just deadpan the dances, though--those wildly varied facial expressions were distracting.

The pros all did well (and I'm glad there's no one like Charlotte, hanging cloyingly on his/her partner).

All in all, great start!
nanberry
Bye Ashley! At least you had a decent run last season. You danced your ass off tonight.

I think Tia Carrere deserves about a thousand extra bonus points for having the guts to do this show weeks after giving birth. She's a knockout on her worst day, but to go on national TV with the prominent baby weight and post-birth jelly belly (when you're known largely for your beauty) takes backbone.

I totally agree. And how CUTE was her baby?! She has a regal beauty to her and she danced divinely. I hope she stays in this for a while. I'm glad they bumped the starting number up to 10.

I do wish that instead of an elimination process they could all just compete every week so we can see there progress. That would be more interesting to me.

I've never watched before but came for Jerry Rice (die-hard Oakland fan here). Wasn't disappointed... the boy has moves and I want to dance with him now! Also, his partner is the hottest of the bunch in my opinion. Oh, and his preppy little outfit was adorable. I was doubting his potential but the second I saw him commit to it in practice I knew he could do it.

Anna Something-skaya, she's little Russian spitfire! She sure was shakin' her tail feathers. Was makin' this straight gal sweat.

Tatum is just wierd. Has she become Bette Midler?

LOL Thank you! She was reminding me of someone and I couldn't put my finger on it.

And my favorite couple to make fun of is officially the ones I now call Fish Lips and her Small Gay Man.

Bwaaahaaahaa! I think I just laughed so loud I woke the neighbors. He's a pocket gay! </just jack>

Well, this certainly was an improvement over last season.

All of the women were either surprisingly good or at least decent. Sadly, few of the men were.

When I heard that Stacy Keibler was going to be on this show I told my wife and ex-dance partner that IF they teamed her with the right partner she would probably win. Sadly, although Tony is a good dancer he is not a good match for Stacy, who is 5'11'' in stocking feet with 41" legs! A much better match for Stacy would have been Nick.

Master P really had no chance in this competition, do to the fact that he is clumsy, inert, has no sense of Latin rhythm, and only had A WEEK of instruction (poor Ashly! Are they EVER going to give her a partner who will actually try and LISTEN to her?)

That said this is how I saw it:

(1). Nick and Tatum - Nick make Tatum look surprisingly good.I didn't care for his Fox Trot with Charlotte last year, but his Waltz feel and skill was on display tonight.

(2). Drew - I figured that Drew would probably be good at Latin. Even dancing in a boy band gives you exposure to upper-body control and flexibility. He also had nice rhythmic interpretation.

(3). Gisele - I was pleasantly surprised by how well she danced. She definitely has some dancer's genes in her.

(4). Stacy - I see another Rachel Hunter travesty approaching. She is beautiful, tall, willowy, incredibly skilled, and flexible, and teamed with a partner who will not be able to make her look good because of his size. Why couldn't they have teamed her with Nick?

(5). Tia - Give her her props. Trying to dance in a high-pressure competition just after having a baby! She really was surprisingly good.

(6). Lisa - the new, improved Louis will definitely help their overall look, but he still doesn't look that comfortable dancing ballroom.

(7). Jerry - A lot of people seemed impressed, but I didn't see it. I don't know, but he didn't seem to hold my attention for very long.

(8). George - O.K., he didn't REALLY dance but he at least made an effort. And he didn't seem to forget the choreography.

(9). Kenny - Taking about a fish out of water! It became apparent that he suddenly realized that he had not practiced enough, or tried enough in the lessons. Let's hope that he takes things a bit more seriously next week.

(10). Master P - Anytime a cha-cha dancer makes Evander Hollifield look good you know you are in trouble! No dancing, no rhythm, no expression, no feel. Ashly really deserved a better fate than this (I wish Romeo had not injured himself so that we could see more of Ashly. Oh well, that's the breaks!)

The music was better this time without question. All of the cha-chas were definitely danceable (a couple were excellent), and even though a couple of the waltzes were unusual, they at least could be given Waltz interpretation.

My only disagreement was again with Len, who absolutely knows NOTHING about either American or Cabaret style waltz. His criticism of Stacy and Tony was unjustified, as was his "6". (I watched her incredible balance, poise, extension, etc. and thought that even at this stage of the competition it deserved an "8").

Oh, and I'm not sure where the "one week" think is coming from on Master P. I heard that Romeo was out and he was in on Dec. 15.

I loved Tia and Giselle. And I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed Maksim...he was a bit of an ass, but a funny one and he seemed to take everything in relative stride. I laughed out loud with the whole "You have a baby, I have Tia...we all have our difficulties!" comment.

And Master P was an ass for not trying. The only reason he may stay after this week may be Ashley Grosso, who is a peach and so enjoyable to watch.

And Giselle Fernandez just single-handedly made me get off the couch and do 45 minutes of cardio. The woman is in fantastic shape.

Master P -- not a master of Cha Cha. I'd like to see him stay around though, just so we can watch the train wreck travesty of a Quickstep next week.

ESPN Guy -- left no impression on me, so he can go so we can watch Master P crash and burn next week. (His partner, Andrea Hale, was a US 10-Dance -- that's Ballroom + Latin -- Champion, plus a world Semi-finalist.)

Lisa Rinna -- we found it ironic that she was dancing to "Natural Woman" since about 80% of her is plastic. Still, nice dancing and Louis looked 100% better than when he was stuck with that nasty Trista bitch last time around. ("Oh, I can't dance like that, Ryan needs to approve it.")

Drew & Cheryl -- hella cute, and I love Cheryl's hair that way (been watching her dance since 1998). They suprised me, he's the best guy this time around for sure.

Jerry Rice -- didn't suck! And Anya Trebunskaya (married to Jonathan Roberts, by the way, and former US Junior Standard Ballroom Champion) had the best line of the show when she asked him if his football coaches gave him cookies. Snort.

The new non-Lisa person was great! Her dress was pretty, and she actually knew how to talk to people. What a vast improvement!

The music and costumes were much better this time around. And I think Bruno looks taller -- he must be poofing up his hair more.

We're off to a great start!!!!

So wait, are they not doing encore presentations of the show this season? I was piiiiiised when I fell asleep shortly after Lisa Rinna performed. I was tuning in to watch Drew, as I'm still crushing on him from his Newlyweds days. Ah, my little Drew. I checked tvguide.com and only saw the Friday results show and next weeks new eps.

First thought: NEW CO-HOST! GREAT DRESS!!! I could hear some of the rest of you echoing the same thing.

Second thought: Damn. I still love this show!

Third thought: HAL GURNEE, YOU ARE A GOD! Please come out of retirement and teach these quivering masses of director-wannabees how directing live TV is done! Please???

Fourth thought: Someone who can choreograph really well and is secure enough to play to her partner's strengths without needing to show off how great her own strut is, makes her partner look a whole lot better than someone who has to dance circles around her partner just to prove she can. (Yup, I'm talking about Cheryl and the 98 degree guy. Brava!)

Fifth thought: We're not going to see nearly enough of that Dance 10 champion, which is a damn shame.

Sixth thought: With his hair cut, Louie is a ringer for Harry Hamlin. Coincidence? (But damn he looks ten times better than season one.) And if she made him cut his hair, can he make her have her lips deflated? In the name of ghod, Montressor!

Seventh thought: Just a general overall satisfaction about the 30 minute follow-up show tomorrow night. Could it be that the PTB actually listened?

Eighth thought: The Tom-in-ator! You go boy!!!

Ninth thought: Zig'spal! Shibori! (And Zig, I know you're here too, somewhere.) A real, live Arthur Murray Dance Studio commercial! Life is good.

Tenth thought: Good lord I am up way too late. Ciao peoples.

And I think his comment about dedicating his performance to New Orleans and Baton Rouge referred to just diving in and trying to do something even when you feel overwhelmed and underprepared.

Putting on some proper shoes would have been a start.

He was trying to say something to the judge about his shoes, but they wouldn't let him get a word in. I'm curious as to what his explanation was.

I watched half of Kenny's performance with my hands over my eyes but he won me over with his "story" at the end.

Oh god yeah, that was funny. Funnier than anything JOH said last season.

George is not trying to be JOH. That was vintage George and JOH isn't fit to hold George's martini glass. George has been doing that since before John even thought about having a career.

Agreed! George is the orginal and JOH the copycat.

The wrestling diva was a major disappointment after all the hype by her fans. Legs, yes, body, yes (although I could have done without the bony ribcage jutting out), but no rhythm and not much movement.

I didn't see a bony rib cage, I saw six pack abs. Girl is cut!

I also got a kick out of how tough she [Anna} was on Jerry.

Me too. I think my favorite line of the night was when she asked him if he got cookies at football practice. Paraphasing..."What do mean practice was not hard. Did your coach give you coooo-keeeys?"

First, they fixed the music! Yay!

I'm not so sure about that. That was an appalling version of She Bangs. Heck I'd have rather have listened to William Hung.

Nick is Tonia's brother. He has been in the US since the early 90's, dancing with Stacy Cuneen, Nina Marks and for the last few years with his wife Lena Bacheva. He and his wife/partner have recently retired from professional competition after winning two consecutive US titles.

Boy, was I impressed with Cheryl and Drew. I expected him to be less, and for her to struggle a bit as she's the least experienced teacher in the mix. And they come out with the most rhythmic and intricate choreography of the night, and danced it really well! Congrats!

I am tempted to vote for Master P just to see the quickstep (could possibly erase all memories of Evander's), but I just can't bring myself to do it.

How hot would Stacy and Nick be?

And could someone please explain American-style to Len Goodman? Preferably in single syllabus words so that he can understand it....
jacobndiana
Put me in the wrestler girl needs a sandwich a la Lindsay/Nicole camp.

LOVE KENNY! I've never watched ESPN, but saw him on Jimmy Kimmel and he seems like a good guy. Okay, he was stiff, but I think he's this season's diamond in the rough.

Master P, those shoes, that hat. Don't they have a designer? Though it looked to me that Jerry Rice and Drew looked like they could have been wearing their home collection as well. Speaking of the designers, in the opening shots, it looked to me that she was pregnant or fat. Didn't see that though in the rehearsal scenes. I also got the Bette Midler, without the talent.

Tia is my second favorite because it's nice to see a celebrity not just bounce back from pregancy (I'm looking at you with jealousy, Denise Richards). I liked that she was wistful and acknowledged that her livelihood might be affected, but that she didn't rush to the personal trainer. Would love to see her shed the pounds/firm up.

Why do we need a rehash of "how do you feel?" Why can't they can the british guy who shouts "Carrie ann Inaba" and just have the judges give the score with the feedback. Methinks it's just filler!
BeingNicer
Drew did very well, and seemed to enjoy it also. His teacher really needs a new "do", what a mess. I really wish he was with Ashly, she is so darn cute.

I noticed they added some safety straps to some of the ladies dresses. No more wardrobe malfunctions.

Mister/Master, oh hell, that P Person didn't even try. What a waste of time. At least dress the part, Kenny did and he had a good time.

I knew with Jerry Rice's dedidcation he would do well,,,,,and he did. I hope they all can keep it up.
jhlipton
re Drew: Didn't I hear him say he was in Rent? Isn't that a musical? With, you know, dancing? After that, I wasn't impressed -- he's a professional dancer now.
ferretrick
WAY too many contestants this year. I loved the show last season, but two hours is way too long. I was falling asleep by the end of it.
barkley
I don't get Jerry Rice not wearing Latin pants. It's not like he's not used to wearing tight pants for his job and so he would be uncomfortable. I didn't like the contrast between his "street" clothes and Anna's Latin dress. I was cracking up over the football move in the middle.

Cheryl (Drew's partner) needs a new hairstyle STAT. Girl looks like she's been fighting with a weedwhacker.
BeingNicer
Girl looks like she's been fighting with a weedwhacker.
And, sadly, the weedwhacker won!

Re: Tatum O'Neal vs. Lisa Rinna, same age, who looks better - Tatum also has three kids, and was married to psycho John McEnroe.

She's still crazy, though.

So, she won an Oscar ™? I wasn't sure, but after they mentioned it 47 fucking times I got an inkling.

It is a shame that we had to endure Master P standing there while Ashley danced like a whirling dervish. I think Romeo might have been fun to watch. P should be shown the proper mercy and booted asap.

Not only can he not dance, but has anyone caught his riveting acting skills on the NIckelodeon show Romeo? Let's just say that his dancing blows away his acting!
jlco123
The show was okay but way too long. I had to giggle when Drew's partner said this isn't boy band, it's ballroom.
Newhope
I never watched the first season of this show and the only reason I decided to watch last night is because nothing else was on and I needed to come down from the high of that awesome Rose Bowl.

I had heard Jerry Rice, Master P, Kenny Mayne and Stacy from WWE were on and I had to watch this.

I don't know anything about Ballroom Dancing, but I know what I personally like. I think Stacy has this thing in the bag and it is hers to lose. Knowing this chick from WWE (which I don't watch anymore, I'm beyond that now) I knew she had a fantastic, long body with legs to match. She is not a clod as she had to be physical on the WWE roster, she had to learn "moves" in the WWE, so she can learn dance moves as well. She's got the package here.

I am also impressed with my boy, the greatest wide reciever in history - Jerry Rice. Jerry ain't afraid to go out and show some moves dancing. Let's face it, there is some femininity in this stuff and most brothers (me included, and after watching last night - Master P) wouldn't want to put our manhood out to question, but Jerry is not concerned. I figured he would do well because he also is not a "plodding" person. He has dancing feet because he had to run intricate patterns that included feet shuffling, etc. I don't like the KGB torture chic who is his partner however. I'd have to sit her ass down one day and show her the quite voluminous scrap book I've accumalated if I was Jerry. Show some respect Ms. CCCP.

As far as passion/chemistry is concerned, I felt Tatum was tops. She emoted and sold the thing better than any of the women.
