TARcon 7 will be held from on 5/10 again at Play By Play, which is the sports bar inside Madison Square Garden. MSG is located at 33rd St and 7th Avenue in NYC. Overflow will be in the Garden Terrace as last time. Due to a couple of previously booked graduations (damn those graduates!), we will not have access to the Garden Terrace until close to 7:30 PM. Dinner Check in will begin at 6:00. Regular check in will be at 7:30. Bring your Paypal receipt (email or printout from Paypal) for admission. Poptart will not hesitate to throw you to the back of the line for not bringing your Paypal receipt.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances last go ‘round, we’re requiring shipping addresses with your paypal payment. But remember, No ticket of any kind will be issued. None will be mailed to you and none will be handed out to you.

When the total count reaches 350, or on May 3 (whichever comes first) regular admission will rise to from $40 to $55 per person due to increased room charges and other stuff, dinner will remain at $80 until it is filled.

Deadlines for all are 5/6, but please pay early. We have to give a pretty big deposit ASAP.

Gratuity for your prepaid drinks/(dinner for the 6:30PM people) is included; please tip appropriately after 10:00 PM and for any a la carte food or drinks. The bar will stay open until at least 1:00 AM on a cash basis. The bar will stay open as long as we are drinking to a maximum of 2:30 AM. The kitchen will close around midnight.

We will add TVs on the terrace, if count requires it.

MSG tours will be held from 5 to 6. Sign up at tarcon@gmail.com.

There will be no goodie bags.

If you plan to drink to the point of puking, don’t forget to bring someone to get you home safely and it’s BYOB (Bring Your Own Bucket).

Comps: Because of budget, comps can only be admitted after 10. If any comp would like to come before 10, they will have to pay the cover charge (email me for more specific details). If you are a comp or know a comp and will be coming after 10, please email me directly. I need the names for the count.

Wheelchairs: Please enter MSG off of 7th Avenue, using the wheelchair ramp near the corner of 31st Street to access the main concourse level. Please proceed straight towards the box office lobby, and use the elevator on your left just before entering the box office. Take the elevator to the 3rd Floor and exit to your left for the doors to the Play by Play.

Donations for overhead are welcome.
missdona
Unfortunately, our Sephora is renovating the week of TARcon and are unable to host us. However, they do have two events coming up that we’re welcome to attend (no charge). April 16 12PM-6PM, a Trained Specialist from the DDF Office will be doing Special Facial Peels and Skin Scanning., on April. 23 there is a Stila Moonlight event featuring The New Fragrance and Makeovers 12PM-6PM.

As always, there may be a few people who can get in past the deadline, but we really need it for count, so.... please pay before the deadline if possible.

Post here, contact Meggin20 , Poptart or me with any specific questions. Meggin20 has again graciously volunteered to field emails. So if you write to me, don't be surprised if you get a response from Meggin. And, speaking for myself, I’m deleting your email if your question has already been answered here and/or contains the word “tickets.”

Information for DimSum, the traditional post TARcon brunch can be found here

Times are subject to change if an 8:00PM show time is announced.
NightBaron
Thanks missdona, you ROCK.

Great work missdona etc.! Now I have something to do between work and the show. (can't go on paypal here). Although I will have Rick Nelson's voice going through my brain all afternoon.
ETA that damn you Night Baron! You must type faster than me (even though I use a computer keyboard 8 hours a day).
SpaceyCadet
Y'all totally rock! I'm paid for dinner, and am now off to Amtrak for train tickets!
lastminutemark
And everywhere there was song and celebration...

Woooo hoooooo! Three cheers for missdona, Poptart and crew! (Ok, that requires two more cheers, so: wooo hooooo! wooo hooooo! Happy now?). Of course, now I'll probably have to change my name to firstminutemark. Well, almost.

So how long before the Miss Alli "I'm not sure if I can make it this time..." posts (& replies) start? ;-)

(I hereby stake claim to buying her first Corona...)

Thanks missdona - I've recently come to US and don't know NY - so here's a quick question : If I come in at Bus Terminal (Port Authority) [ where-ever the Greyhound buses stop], how far is MSG ? Is it walking distance and I ask around for directions, or would I have to take a cab/subway.
mpstar
I'm positively giddy with excitement. My first Tarcon! I mostly lurk, but from the wonderful posts throughout these TAR boards, I know I will have an incredibly great time. And even better, I'll be fairly close to a jewelry store whose bracelet I've been budgeting for.

I'll be driving in from the Poconos....anyone need a ride?

Port Authrotiy is on 8th and 42nd. MSG is on 33rd and 7th, so it's about 10 blocks. If it's a nice day, it's not at all a bad walk. If you are not sure or it's raining, you might want to get a cab. It should only cost about $4-$5.

Alright! The Tarcon7 thread has surfaced! Nice!

I'll be there, but how early I leave as well as how early I arrive has yet to be determined.

Although I'm hoping that someone is willing to have me crash at their place (free or no), in terms of hotels, I'm planning to stay at the New Yorker across from MSG. If anyone's looking for a roommate or fits in the category here, let me know.

I'm coming in from Pittsburgh, but I forgot exactly how close the burgh is from the Poconos. IIRC, it wasn't far, but I don't remember the two being close either.

Yeah, as I said, I'll be there, but in terms of the dinner, I'm not sure if I'll be able to pay for that option before it's (way) too late. I'll have the money for the event in 2-3 days, maybe earlier, but it won't clear in my Paypal account until mid next week. If only I could send a check. Oh well.

Absolutely the farthest they could be from each other. Pittsburgh being by Ohio, and Stroudsburg just about walking distance to New Jersey. With little traffic I can be in NYC from my house in a bit over an hour. Of course, the little traffic part happens quite rarely.

I posted this in another thread last night. WKYT Website is an affiliate that has detailed listing for all of their programs, confirming the 9-11pm slot for the 10th.
macaddict
Woo-hoo! I signed up before I knew if I could even get the day off. Good thing I can!

Shall the Inconsiderate Asses make travel plans in the DC TWOPCon thread?
SeaBreeze341
Even a day off of work couldn't and wouldn't ever stop me from attending Tarcon. It's not unusual for people to start looking for another job and prepare to resign if necessary. It's never come up, since I never call off (speaking for myself).

Tarcon is the Wrestlemania of all other related parties. Speaking of work, I could have had a bad day without any Internet access, but would've cheered up upon seeing this. Not bad for a Tuesday!

Anyway, mpstar, so much for that, but thanks for the offer anyway! I need to find more folks closer to here that would prefer driving over flying.
ladolce
Now that I'm officially a poster, I can express my gratitude to you guys for setting up the event, let you know how awesome I think it is, and of course, also say eeeeeeeeeeeee!

I had such a blast at TARCON6 and I thought Play by Play was perfect.

The line to maul the brothers starts here, ladies!

Oh wow I can't wait - damn, it's still April?
beezer
I'm just asking to clarify the... the no goodie bags? I.. but... no goodie bags? *sniff*

Regardless, I'm all paid up for me and my beezfriends. Whoohoo!!
Frenchteacher
ROCK ON.

It's the day I've been waiting for for awhile. Hurrah! I haven't had the time to be posting like I normally do, but I've been checking TWoP for this thread, and it's finally here. Can't wait till my s.o. gets home so we can plan for this.

and apologies to everyone that I haven't contacted since TARCon6, in particular billdozer, pointe3579, who were part of my great, great time.

See you all soon!
Tonytigr
I'm just asking to clarify the... the no goodie bags? I.. but... no goodie bags? *sniff*

I've never been to a TARcon but when I saw a goodie bag from the last TARcon on Ebay I had a feeling this would wind up as the result.
Bart Ender
Thanks be to missdona et. al. for their tireless work in planning such an awesome event. You all rock.
ABJ
Aaah shit, I so wanted this to be my first TARcon, but I am leaving for Spain 3 days later and there is just no way to make it happen - BOO HOO, but I'll hopefully find some yummy Spanish boys to console me, yeah I think I'll live ;-)

Aaah fuck who do I think I am kidding - I'm soooo jealous of all you TWOPPERS who are going.

Non-VIP admission Paypaled:check
Parents willing to give their son a trip to New York for his birthday (same day as Meggin's):check
One of my company's Manhattan hotels miraculously available that night:check
The knowledge that (at this point at least) I won't be too bummed if any of the remaining teams win:check
This sounds like it'll be tons of fun.
Now if 2 of missdona's comps somehow find their way to Aridzona than cursed will be....almost as happy as he was the night the curse was reversed!
BTW didn't mean to slight Meggin or Poptart in my last message. I was at work and was in a hurry.
Edited because there's a reason my computer has a spacebar.
Meg20
Yay! Thanks as always to our beloved Poptart and missdona for all the work they put in to give us such a great event!

Now as far as questions and things go, keep in mind that lots of people end up with the same question so sometimes I get the same thing over and over. If you think that your question might be something other people would also want answered, consider posting in the thread rather than emailing us (read: me.) That way everyone gets the info. That also means that if I get a question that I think would be good for everyone to know about, I'll usually respond in the thread and let you know that's what I've done via email.

Can't wait!

ETA: cursed reversed, your birthday is the 12th too? We'll have to have a celebratory toast to our birthday!
screamapiller
Oh baby... all I can hope for this time around is that Designed, Auroralye, and I can manage to leave poor Bart Ender speechless again!
Suga Wuga
I'll be there this time. Mortgages smortgages.

Amtrak has a pretty sweet group deal going on for those in the Northeast Corridor. I'll post more in the DC TWoPcon thread, if it isn't there already.
piewarmer
Sending HUGE piles of gratitude to all the organizers as I plot my triumphant return to TARCON!
BoDiva
Thank you organizers!

In a way, I'm glad there's no SephoraCon, because I'd decided I really wanted to sleep in this time.

Can't wait to see everyone.
DoubleTee
All set for my fourth bash. The Paypal went smoothly, as usual -- opting for the non-VIP for the first time, thanks to Delta for charging a $50 re-issue fee for changing a reward flight from one week to another. Gotta keep the budget balanced. *grumble grumble*

Now I just have to wait for the lovely, witty, and all-around delightful grasshoppergirl to verify that she received my rambling phone call alerting her to this thread so we can split a hotel.

And Wednesday will be Broadway Day! Woot! A matinee of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" followed by "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." Heh. Talk about two very different thea-tah experiences. Oh, and talk about Marc Kudisch. *rowr*

Anyway. Thanks once again to all the organizers for doing all the work for us.
Meg20
Damn Suga... You posted just in time! I was going to call you to give you details after tonights show.
DavidK93
w00t! I'm paid up as a VIP, and since this is happening the week after my class ends, I can also stay for DimCumCon, so I'll be looking for that announcement. Too bad about the no-goodie-bags-ness :( And also the SephoraCon-lessness, since I need some more of that Rice Formula Foot Cream. But ah, well. As if it's not still going to be totally awesome ;)
grasshoppergirl
I wanted to offer a sincere THANK YOU!! to all the organizers who work so hard to make this party happen! This will be my 5th time and I really enjoy getting to meet so many other Amazing Race fans and watch the show alongside so many other snarky and witty individuals... I still can't believe how big the parties have gotten!

Also, while I'm still getting over the goody bag thing, I totally understand that the decision wasn't made without a lot of consideration. I know how hard a great deal of people Meggin20 (I'm looking in your direction) work to put these together so I will cherish the ones I have (all in pristine condition with nothing altered from their original state!) without further comment. Hopefully you all will enjoy not having the stress of pulling everything together and dealing with inadeqacies within the shipping business. I will say a quick 'Fuck off' to whoever posted one on ebay.

Can't wait to see everyone again, DoubleTee I left an equally rambling message on your machine in fact I think it cut me off! You are the best and I can't wait to see you again in all of your glory. Beelzebubba is on the stick reserving a room at the New Yorker so we're good there. Speaking of Beelzebubba, this time let me stockpile as many Coronas as I want ok? I'll try to improve my turnover time and live up to your high standards! Newman let's try to talk earlier in the evening before we both drink so much that we just stand there and giggle (although giggling is good).

OK - I have enough of a head start on my DVR, I'm going to watch the show. Thanks again missdona and team! Y'all kick ass.
macaddict
Maybe we can just wander from Sephora to Sephora in Manhattan and demand facials and Krispey Kremes.
DavidK93
So then..."Wednesday"?
Joe R
Just paid up my VIP ticket for my second straight TARCon. Woo! Now it's on to transportation and hotel arrangements! Can't wait to see you all again!

Question: What time does Dim Sum usually take place? I might not be able to make it (again! damn!) but I'd like to try.
DavidK93
Last time, DimSumCon was from noon to 2pm.

Edited because it hasn't been anywhere near a year.

Edited again because, well, for the love of Christ.
auroralye
Oh baby... all I can hope for this time around is that Designed, Auroralye, and I can manage to leave poor Bart Ender speechless again!

I'm looking forward to it, screamapiller. Very forward indeed. Hee!
pseudostudent
David is right - DimSumCon is traditionally 12:00-2:00 the day after TARcon.

I'll post more details about DimSumCon after I've confirmed everything with the good folks at Jing Fong.
Beelzebubba
Speaking of Beelzebubba, this time let me stockpile as many Coronas as I want ok? I'll try to improve my turnover time and live up to your high standards!
Oh fucking please! Like you're saving your liver for a special occasion?

I'm all VIP'ed and rarin' to go. Glad to see you'll be there, GrasshopperGirl and DoubleTee.

I'm flyin' solo again this year, so if anyone lurking thinks they can't possibly do this alone, I say bullshit. It's like being in a room full of people just like yourself. [Insert fantasies, realities and shudders as appropriate.]

See ya'll there!
Rinaldo
DavidK, you might might want to edit your post juuust one more time.... take a look.

Anyway, hats in the air for the awwwwesome organizers. As always, THEY ROCK.

I'll be PayPal'ing in the next couple of days; I just have to check out the state of our semester when I get back to work tomorrow, because I'm pretty sure we're still in the midst of classes and I again have to teach till 6. But I can still catch a train that gets me there in time, as I did last time, if so. And I'll have to take The Amazing 2:45 AM Train. It'll be a tight fit, but I'd never miss a TARcon!
Bart Ender
These people plotting to keep me speechless are, believe it or not, an example of why folks who have never been should not fear coming to TARCon. Each time that I have attended, I have met some of the coolest, most fascinating, most tolerant, diverse group of folks from around the world. The awesomely frank folks planning my reticence are folks I met for the first time last TARCon. So even if you haven't met anyone in person before the event, you will have a good time.
pseudostudent
I guess this is a good time to post my Top 10 Tips for a Fun TARcon!

Amen, Bart Ender. I'm glad you had as much fun as we did last time. To second that notion, I actually met my co-conspirators for the first time at TARcon 5, which I attended by myself. So don't worry if you're going solo or if you're not super talkative in person or what have you. It is impossible not to be sucked into the glorious chaos.
Pointe3579
and apologies to everyone that I haven't contacted since TARCon6, in particular billdozer, pointe3579, who were part of my great, great time.

Thanks. I had a great time with you too, frenchteacher. Can't wait to see you again and maybe this time Mama Tiger will be among the present. And does this post mean that you are definitely coming because I sure hope so. I can't believe it is time to be planning for another TARCon. This will be my third and I can't wait. Thanks in advance to all the people that make this possible and so much fun.
PixelPusher
Wheee! Ya'll just made my night! My week! Whoo!! I haven't been able to post much lately but I've been reading here and posting when I can, and I cannot wait until TARCON!

Wow, I apologize for the excessive exclamation points. Sadly, once again I cannot do the VIP, but I'll be there for general admission. screamapillar, Beelzebubba, newman, grasshoppergirl, wolfnj, EmperorPenguin aw hell, everyone I've ever had the pleasure to meet at these things (and I've only been to 2, mind you!) I look very forward to seeing you all once again. Ahh, I love NYC in the spring!

A note to the lurkers amongst us: I went to TARCON 5 and 6 solo, and trust me, it doesn't matter how much your instincts get you to try to blend in with the wallpaper, you WILL meet several people, all of whom are great!
dilooni
DavidK, you might might want to edit your post juuust one more time.... take a look.

I'm so glad I got to read his post before he gets your hint to change it. I am laughing like a loon here. Hmmm, the way David describes it, the event sounds VERY interesting.

I will most definitely be at this TARCON. It will be my first. I wimped out the past couple of years because I coudln't find anyone to go with me but you guys have convinced me it's okay to fly solo so I'm in. Thanks to all the people who work hard to put it together. I can't wait!
Regala Electra
I must again thank all those involved in putting together another TARCon. And it's been such a long time since the last one. ;-)

My parental units, huge TAR fans, are going, we're opting for the regular price, and hopefully my dad won't spend the entire time playing video games like last time.

I wimped out the past couple of years because I coudn't find anyone to go with me but you guys have convinced me it's okay to fly solo so I'm in.

It's great fun going in by yourself. That's how I finally made it, for TARCon5, and I had a great time.
SVNBob
Working on my plans as we speak. Nothing definitive yet, except this note.

Just because you'd possibly be coming to TARCon solo, doesn't mean you'll be at TARCon solo. In fact, it's rather difficult to be solo at a party full of tv-watching geeks.

Simply put: GO.
Special K
Oops, found the West Coast TARcon info in the TWoPCon section...sorry!
Shnap
A HUGE thankyou to all the organisers (especially missdona for putting up with me).

I too will be going solo at my first TARcon - unfortunately i was unable to convince any of my friends that the event was worth the $2500 airfares from Australia. Oh well, it's their loss!!!

I know that no matter what else I do while in the US, NOTHING will come close to the AMAZING fun & shenanigans of TARcon. Can't wait to see you all there!
SpaceyCadet
My plus one crapped out on me, so I have an extra VIP admission if anyone is in need. E-mail me!
vibbs
Guys, I'm not sure I can make it this year. For the first time in what seems like years I'm actually employed! So taking the day off could be something of an issue, and the $$$ isn't exactly growing on the palm tree in my living room.

Awww, who am I kidding? I'll be there. I just have to wait until my checking account is back in the black before I Paypal.
