"Reckon I'm gonna have to get used to them looking at me."
Sorry, that's still funny. And I love that so many Slingblade jokes came after it.[/i]
Thanks to Yes I am a for the brilliant and hilarious thread title, winner by a wiiiide margin.

I must admit, I partially do not want to see him make the Top 12 just so I will not have to hear, "Gonna BLAZE this (insert thing Scott is gonna blaze here)."
It's funny...last season?
Scott would have been a Top 12 LOCK.
This year?
It's gonna be tough.
But his screen time certainly helps.

I had one of my customary epiphanies last night (being married to me for 13 years, and having known me for years and years beyond that, this is one of those eye rollers for my husband); I suddenly realized who Scott Savol is in this competition. Has anyone here ever seen the movie Stir Crazy with Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder? Scott Savol is Grossberger, the huge, hulking and mentally-challenged looking inmate with a (I think) countertenor voice one would never have expected in a million years.
Yup, that's our Scotty!

Yeah the son thing kinda blew my gaskets as well. His "To make sure my son doesn't have to struggle in life as I did." response to life goals I figured was just a general statement so I didn't think much of it. But then... yeah.
BTW wurligirli yeah, he's Grosberger. Several of us have mentioned that in various threads so you're not alone. Crazy I can't vouch for of course. Heh.
I still can't deal with his offputting personality; combo'd with the puglike looks not a great combo.

I just hope he doesn't have the urge to pet any of the young contestants, like Matt Rogers did last year. I don't think it would turn out well.

Up until the group performances, I was all about Scotty. Unconventionally attractive, at best, but what a voice!
Now?
He skeer me. Mommy, make the bad man go AWAY.

Bobby Hill all grown up! Of course -- that explains everything, doesn't it! "The boy ain't right..." Hmm...it's all making sense now.
About him being married; not sure he is actually married. The only thing we know (or at least he thinks he knows, unless he's had DNA testing) is that someone has actually done the deed with him. (shudder)

Move over, NoWayMan. There's room enough for two.
His creepiness won't do him in...at least not this early. I think that America will prune away the so-so voices with the so-so looks before cutting Grossburgers.
What may doom him to a premature exit is his inability to get along with people.

Agreed. Personally, I don't find him all that creepy. A bit strange, yes, and he definitely comes down on the side of being anti-social, but he doesn't creep me out. Not like say, J.P. did last season. Now, there was a creepy bugger IMHO.

If nothing else, I like his little interview in front of the judges. He made the very good point that his age should have nothing to do with whether they keep him or send him home, thereby pointing Paula out for the drugged-out fool she is (DING DING DING! Five points for you, Scott!). And then he graciously noted that, yes, he understood that the "industry" might think differently. I thought it an intelligent response.

Wasn't a fan before, especially before the group performances, but I thought he seemd a little more human in the episodes this week, although seeing his arm draped supportively around Nadia's shoulders made me want to shower.
And sorry, still can't believe someone would...would...Oh, I can't even think about it.

I hate to admit this, but I'm on the Scott love caboose because he looks like my exboyfriend/good friend.

That and it would be nice to have an Idol who looks like Scott, cause it would prove the whole talent over looks thing.

I'm firmly on the HATE train. He's creepy and I don't like his voice at all. Also, the boy is just fugly! I don't mind if people aren't supermodels but I do have an admitted preference for people who aren't actually repelling.
Disclaimer: **No, I'm no supermodel either. But I'm here to judge others so n'yah n'yah!**

I am so rooting for a Scott Savol vs. Bo Brice finale. For me it's about the voice, #1, and for me they have the two best male voices. But I also really like those two guys. If they are not in the Final 12 then yawn, it'll become boring for me.

I can't decide at this point whether I like him or not. He's creepy, yes, but his voice is...confusing me. I think I'll just watch him with my eyes closed and not watch any of this interviews. Yeah, that'll make everything ok.....

For me, Scott is one of those people you have to keep one eye open around at all times. Even when sleeping. I know if I close my eyes he's going to shank me.
If I loved his voice, I guess I could get over it. But I don't. He just looks like Budda Sparxxx's weird, low IQ brother who works nights as an orderly at the mental ward to me.
Also, add me to the list of people who are surprised that he managed to spawn. I guess there really is someone for everyone. Shudder.

I'm thinking along the lines of a young Carl in "Sling Blade" for Scott. "I'm gon' blaze this thang... and then have some mustard on my french fried taters - hrmmmm...."
And then he sings and Angelina Jolie wants to marry him, at least briefly.

Scott's not purty like mama's boy Mario, but I dig him. I'm not into the whole metrosexual thing, anyway. In the real world, I'd rather walk down a city street with Scott than Antonio F, Anwar or Ozzie Jr. My purse and my person would be safe with Scott by my side.
Besides, he can sing and he's cool. I like that little goatee thing he's growing.

I'm on the Scott love train as well, I love his voice and I'm more interested in him because of his looks, not in spite of his looks. Reverse eye candy factor, I guess.
I'm a bit on the fence about see him do the group sings though. That could be painful.

I'm kind of hoping his surliness turns one of those Kids Inc! group sings into a total train wreck. They suck, and I hate that AI thinks weak variety show material is worth my viewing time (do I stop watching, of course not). I would vote for Scott thousands of times a night if during a group sing he just walked off the stage and said "fuck it."

If it does,
liljanice916, then I'm in there with you. I can't stand him. I try to tell myself it's because I dislike his antisocial tendencies and his mugging for the camera in the group stage. But deep down, I know it's because he's fugly and it makes me uncomfortable. Sometimes, I hate myself.

I think his voice is great. So great in fact that I still hold out some hope for him despite his looks, attitude and general brutish creepiness.
I'm finding it kind of funny now that there was this big thing about how "ugly" the top singers were in season 2, how it was thought ugly people couldn't be idols, and that idea was disproven.
None of these so called "ugly" people, on their worst day, can hold a candle to this guy.

Here's an early picture of Scott and his sister I came across today.

And this time, instead of a playful grab of her boobs, she'll get cut up into little pieces and stored in a freezer somewhere in a shack in Montana.

You gotta give the guy credit--he's got the guts to sing Ruben songs: Superstar, Ribbon in the Sky. Normal people would have been sent away crying by now.
In People, he says he was a former corrections officer, where he learned that "you don't have to be scared of a murderer." I guess that explains some things.
Mmm...Free Goo, what makes that so incredibly funny is it's not meant to be funny. Sometimes the snark just writes itself.

You know who else had the guts to perform multiple songs done by previous AI finalists? Jasmine Trias.
I don't know, to me he looks like he should be doing wrestling themes (yes, that's actually a semi-profession, and they actually release CDs of that shit...Scott could do a mean Big Show theme; he kinda sorta looks like him). Can definitely sing though. But he started creeping me out in the past few episodes. I'm not sure how long he'll last.
