At first I was surprised no one ever started this topic because his show has been on awhile, but when I think about it, I am not surprised at all. This show is on so late and sucks beyond belief. At least Carson knows it sucks and acknowledges it. I don't think even he knows why he hasn't been cancelled, or re-tooled. But how can one re-tool Carson when he is already the biggest Tool that ever tooled?
What brought me in search of this topic today was to ask other viewers a question.... but maybe there are no other viewers. Last night, Carson interviewed Boone from Lost and asked him about his sex life in 5 or 6 different crude ways, never getting an answer. "Your life must be great, having sex all the time." "You've banged everyone in your hometown, right?" I think he was wanting to live vicariously through him, since his social life is in the toilet. Plus, I think he was attracted to Boone. It was all very sad. So, I'm wondering if all of Carson's interviews are this unprofessional, pathetic and devoid of substance? Who thought he was capable of a talk show? My cat could do better.

How long has Carson been on vacation now? Has he broken the 100-consecutive-weeks barrier yet? If not, he must be close.
I know unemployed people who work more than this guy.

The show with Billy Connolly was on again last night. I like Billy Connolly, but I've heard that airplane story three times now since Christmas.
I'm serious, people. Is this show still officially "in production"?

The most massive tool that ever massive-tooled.
Carson seems self deprecating which would be entirely justified, however, he has a boring dismissive style of interviewing which suggests he secretely thinks he is above his guests.
I have to give him credit however for having the worst talk show desk evah. A poker table, were sooooooooooooo hip. What's that? No? it's not? Never mind.

Okay, I know I'm being a little obsessive about this. But .....
last night Carson's guests were Patricia Arquette and Bam Margera - again.
You know the last time this episode aired? Last week!
What the hell is going on with this show?
Maybe I'm the only one watching the stupid thing.

I saw this show for the first time tonight.
What the hell is up with Carson's desk?? It looks like it's way to small for him, and the chair looks way too low.
I actually thought it was a gag at first, kind of like Ellen's giant purse, but then he actually used the desk.
Either Carson is a giant, or the desk is small. Either way, it was weird.

I forgot to bring up the mini-desk! It defies explanation.
he has a boring dismissive style of interviewing which suggests he secretely thinks he is above his guests.
Good call, but I can cut him slack on this one. His background comes from interviewing MTV "stars" like Asslee Simpson and O-Town from
Making the Band. [shivers] He
is above them. [more shivers]
I saw
this spoof article. It reminded me of another annoying habit Carson has: name dropping, because he's just that cool.

Holy moly! Tonight was a current show! Since when did he start new shows? Or is it just random? Like when they scrape together enough money from panhandling and/or mugging the audience.
Well, regardless of how he got back on, he needs to go back where he came from. The only thing he can talk about is sex-- in a trashy, frat boy way that he can't really pull off.
There was one thing I thought was pretty funny though. He was showing Valentine's Day cards he recieved. There was one that looked like a kid wrote it was signed Tara Reid. He sniffed it and said it smells like her, "hmm, vodka!"
If there is one positive thing I can say about him, it would have to be how I like his self-awareness and willingness to make fun of himself... and Tara Reid... because Dog knows they deserve it.

So this week Carson is in Hollywood. Inexplicably, his desk is still grossly out of proportion. It is a larger desk, but its still so low.
Did anyone see when he had Tom Green on? Carson made a big deal about how Tom is such a good friend of his and how he just had him on because he loves him so much. After the show, I'm not so sure there was any hugging going on.
Tom brought his 2 gorgeous dogs and was, of course, out of control. Then it was time for the actress who plays Izzy on Gray's Anatomy. The dogs of course were stealing the show, but Tom was actually calm and respectful! The dogs continued to distract the audience and Carson. Carson got off track in his interview and Tom bounced a question to Izzy to get back on track to promoting her movie. It totally flustered Carson to have Tom rescuing him, and the whole thing went to hell. He ordered Tom to take the dogs on a walk and Tom went into the audience. Bad idea. They were 100% focused on the dogs, and Tom ran with it, jumping in a lady's lap. The laughter in the audience kept going and no one there paid attention to Carson or Izzy. She kept saying how fine it all was but Carson just seemed to get more and more mad at his "good" friend. In the end, Tom looked more collected and professional than Carson... (not to say that Carson is at all "professional" unless you call those trained monkeys on leashes in the park "professional".)

I felt so bad for Katherine Hiegle. And yeah the dogs were cute but I thought Tom Green was stealing the show. Carson was being a jerk though when he yelled "Tom, please!" I felt bad for Tom Green b/c the camera was following him down to the audience and you could tell he was a little embarrassed and sad. I thought KH was really gracious. She didn't mind the dogs and was petting them the whole time. I hope the dog hair didn't ruin her wardrobe.

Is this bastard still on the air? A potbelly pig has more brain cells & can host this show a lot better than this poser. This schmuck, the cast of the Real World (excluding Puck), Sway, & P. Diddy single-handedly ruined MTV & now he's ruining his own talk show. Thank god that I have better things to do in my life when this show is on & that is sleeping.

Wow, I watched this last night. I don't think I've ever seen anything that terrible. EVER. Does Carson have a sense of humor? I don't see it. I really don't. That golf bit was just so bad. It's like they put a few shots of Adam Corrolla missing the ball in to somehow make it interesting. And he was so embarassed when Adam was jokingly saying he does cocaine. Ugh, go away you tool.
Was his show always 25 minutes long?

"Last Call" will be in reruns at least through Aug. 19. You can see the listings
here.
I agree with yeahyeahyeah, it's an awful show. I have TiVo'd it on occasion when he has a guest on that I'm interested in seeing, and always wind up feeling sorry for the people who have to sit there making inane chit-chat with the Massive Tool.

Carson is the undisputed master of anti-chemistry. Especially if you see him interview someone whom you've also seen recently interviewed by someone who actually deserves their job as a talk show host, it's just painful. He managed to make Will Arnett unfunny (forcing Will to resort to bad tsunami jokes), for crissake.
I love when they pan to the audience (usually during the musical act), and they look like they've spent hard time in the gulag. Approximately two people bounce up and down, everyone else just stares dolefully into space...
I think it'll work a little better in LA, where the crowd may be a little less cynical, and he may have a hometown advantage. (I know that they literally couldn't give away tickets at the NBC store in NYC.) But it ain't workin' well anywhere.

Did anyone see David Cross on Thursday? HILARIOUS! He, Alia Shawkat, and Michael Cera ran away with the show and then, Jamie King seemed more interested in playing around with them than conversing with Carson. Great stuff!

I saw the very beginning of this show the other night when my recording of Conan went over. When did it move to LA? Carson looks tanned and thin, the opposite of the pasty doughy face I'm used to seeing. Too bad it didn't record the whole thing - I like David Cross and the AD kids.

One week!
Let me say that again: after an endless series of reruns all year, he takes the entire summer off, moves the show to Los Angeles, does one week of new shows - and last night he reran last week's season premiere!!

You would think after all these years he would learn to interview someone properly. He still interrupts people mid-sentence. Good god it's annoying.

Sounds like the set's changed, since it's moved cities, but I've seen this once when my itsy-bitsy girlcrush Kristin Chenoweth was on and the stupid smallness of that desk looked hilarious-giant Carson at teeny desk and teeny Kristin on giant sofa.
But, when your set is funnier then you, you got problems.

That was pretty cool how the "Nobodys Watching Guys" came on and Carson called Kevin Reily the president of NBC to ask him if he was going to pick up the show. And Kevin was pretty funny with the "Carson Daly, MTV right?" and how Carson asked for a new phone.

OK, so I don't usually watch this show (in fact, I can't remember ever seeing it), but in a mad fit of insomnia I stumbled across it early this morning, and did anyone else catch the jaw-dropping appearance by Shia LaBeouf (sp)?
You know, the one where he said his dad used to grow weed off a busy LA exit ramp? The one where he said his dad didn't pay taxes until the IRS caught up with him so he moved to Montana to be a pastor (for tax loophole reasons)? The one where he said he smoked weed for the first time with his dad? The one where he did an impersonation of his mom removing a vibrating cell phone from her crotch? The one where he said his dick got so small "he could pee on his balls"? The one where he kept rubbing his nose and was pretty obviously coked up?
Yeah, that one. Tell ya what - I had never really heard of this Shia dude before, but I have honestly never heard so many controversial/incendiary things said in one single talk show appearance. Like, Madonna wishes that her past two decades of guesting could have yielded even 1/10th of that.
I mean, wow.

LOL. So odd. I noticed there was a new post in this forum which is rare, so I came to check it out. I usually don't watch this show either...because I think Carson is uber annoying. But, I usually watch Conan so sometimes I accidentally catch this crap fest...an yes, I did see this episode last night. I thought the interview was pretty funny despite all the drug-induced frenzy of stories. I never heard of this guy before, either, but whatever. I just wanted to post that I saw this one, too.
Oh and one other thing, I did catch the 'Escalator Interview' segment before that and it was pretty funny. The people's faces and answers were just great.

Wow, and here I was chalking the Last Call appearance up to the fact that whatever substance(s) he was on loosened his tongue and that he would regret divulging all that later. But... since he said the same things on Leno, I guess that's actually an image he's looking to project. Weird.

That kid was super hyper, but it didn't click with me that he was high until reading it here. Now it makes sense. He was totally trying to be all cool, but he probably was high as a kite.

Like most people, I usually see a bit of this when Conan is over, but don't really pay attention. Lately, however, I have begun to look forward to the opening of Carson's show when they do the spoofs of old TV show openings, but with Carson, Joe, and the guests "starring" in that show. I've seen Welcome Back Kotter, WKRP in Cincinatti, and Dallas. I think they are kinda funny. I know it sounds dumb, and I guess it actually is, but I was just wondering if anyone else appreciates that "bit" at all.......anyone?.......just a little?

Ah, more klazzy behavior by the writers. How wrong of Carson to go back to work due to him not having nearly the financial resources to pay his staff like the big league talk show hosts. It pains me greatly to say this, but I wholly support Carson in this matter.
