I am really in love with British Talk Shows and am grateful that BBCA is running this show but they are running these shows all out of order. The Tom Jones ep was from this current season that ended a couple of weeks ago, but the upcoming Minnie Driver ep was from the first season. Well, you can't fault BBCA for showing more current eps then when they used to broadcast Graham Norton's show
Also, there might be a problem as the most part of the guests on the show are Brits.

I think they choose the shows based on whether the guests will be familiar to Americans.

The show with Patrick Stewart was really good. I love the fake grandmother. She's really smart and funny. Patrick Stewart was really good too. I enjoyed his stories and he seemed into it. The other guy from the antique appraisal show was ok. I'm liking this show more and more. I don't get the jokes about different cities and locations in England but you can figure it out.

Heh, even with my love of British culture, sometimes I have absolutely no idea who some of the guests are. But there is normally at least one guest I know each show.

I lived in England from 1996-1998 and was there for three tragedies: Diana's death, the Spice Girls, and the Teletubbies. I was a HUGE fan of Goodness Gracious Me and was thrilled that The Kumars was going to be on BBC-America.
I've watched it twice. I don't get it at all.

Did you notice anything about this week's show. It's Ismail Merchant, Helena Bonham Carter" yet BBCA is only promoting it as "Helena Bonham Carter".
Last week's episode was called "Stewart/Dickinson" but everytime one of the two guests is not "recognizable" to the American audience, they don't mention him in the promotion for the episode. And the only reason some of these actually are airing is because of the fact the shows are on BBCA, like Fay Ripley of Cold Feet. No other episodes are being shown, that could feature unknown talent.
That totally sucks.

Has anyone seen the ad for the new one with Boy George? Seriously, what is wrong with him? I thought he looked weird when he was on I love the 80s, but now it's even worse. odd

I find it even more odd that I thought HBC was even more attractive with the monkey teeth. (there's a sentence one doesn't type every day)
On second thought, maybe not more attractive, but somehow able to make oversized simian dental prosthetics oddly appealing instead of grotesque.
Also, love that they gave her love for Marla Singer.

It's a time-saving exercise: you can watch a bad chat show and get your bad family-sitcom fix at the same time!

I watched this show while on an extended business trip in Asia - it was on the local satellite station...I thought it was just the stupidest show I've seen in a long long time. Insipid.

I haven't seen this yet so it's not entirely fair of me to comment, but God it looks awful. I love Stephen Fry and I really wanted to tape last night's show but I didn't think I'd survive it.

Apparently, Sanjay(?), the host, is dating the grandmother in real life. I'm assuming the grandmother is really someone young dressed up (a la Sophia from the Golden Girls). Does anyone know anything more about that?

She's Meera Syal, who I know as a novelist (she wrote a really wonderful novel called ANITA AND ME several years ago), but is also an actress/comedian. You know the show that fills the hour on BBC America, Goodness Gracious Me? Meera Syal is the female lead on that show as well.
And no, she's not anywhere near that old. She's around 40, I think.

I'm surprised to read the negative comments on this show...a friend of mine described the Patrick Stewart episode to me today and I was dying laughing just from her take on it! Can't wait to see it.
Of course, this is a friend I haven't managed to fully convert to Arrested Development, prefers Family Guy to Futurama, and occasionally watches SNL...so her opinion may not be valid just because we share the same non-TV-related sense of humor.

Sanjeev is quite annoying, but I think that's the point. I felt bad that Jools Holland's appearance wasn't promoted at all. I always adored him and miss that music show he used to have on NBC a long time ago. Too bad BBC America doesn't air Hootenany over here.
The fake grandmother does come up with some funny lines, but it bugs me that she's fake. They couldn't find a funny old Indian woman and have this one be a sister or a cousin?
I have been watching the show playing a game I call when was this taped. I try to figure out the month/year based on the projects they're discussing.

Heh, me too. When Helena B Carter talked about Planet of the Apes I knew it was a pretty old show.

Graham Norton on Christina Aguilera on last week's show: "I think she pissed off a stylist, who then did that to her and thought 'That'll teach her.'"

They're easy to mix up: one's dead, the other's embalmed.
LMFAO!!! Who would have thunk that sun-worshipping George would outlast meditating George? I blame Yoko.
I blame myself, if only my aim was better.....

LOL - sorry about that. No, the Kumars aren't bringing people back from the dead! Speaking of sun-worshipping, he practically glowed. He was pretty orange on the show.
