I thought I was the only one watching this. Since I have an interest in opening a nightclub myself in the future, and have some time to kill before I raise the $200,000 or so I will need, I thought this show would provide some useful info. First thing that struck me: the name of the club, Ice.....is a little too obvious for me. Sounds like the name of a club thought up by a high school kid who wants something that sounds "cool".
Allison, while she had some valid points about the poor VIP service at the club, really bugged me, especially with her tantrum at the club. She seems like the typical LA snob (she was looking down on the ordinary people who wanted to party at Ice) who thinks she is important because of all her celebrity connections. Witness her calling her "friend" Paul Oakenfold and bringing in VIP (??) clientele like Rod's Stewart's ugly son. She didn't even refer to him by name, she was just calling him Rod Stewart's son. Talk about name-dropping.
Allison looks like a younger Stockard Channing.
Seems she was brought in as a promoter to make Ice more of a celebrity party spot, like Rain at the Palms. I honestly don't think they can compete. Seems like celebrities live at Rain.

Allison is totally snobbish, yeah. I just admire her brio. (And her car.)

Agreed. I think it's supposed to tie in with that dry ice contraption they have (which is apparently an Ice exclusive and can't be found at a zillion other clubs all across the country, like, shut up, Owner Guy). Still lame, though.
I thought it was funny how everyone made such a big deal over the slow Thursday night.
Thursday. Maybe things are different in Vegas, but where I come from, the partying is usually reserved for Friday and Saturday (ie. when you don't have to get up the next morning).

Allison looks like Stockard Channing and Lindsay Lohan collided and spawned. She sucks, why didn't she visit the club before she took the job? Could it be because she simply wanted to be on TV? Ding ding ding.
What the Fucky is the Style of Chucky (Chucky Style)?
Kalani is seriously scaring me with the drag queens and club kids. It just seems that she wants to have a fun, circusy club and refuses to reconcile that with the reality of Ice.
Along those lines; Does Ed make anyone else's Gaydar ping? I saw Kalani and thought "marriage of Convenience". Then again, I think everyone is gay.
When stuff happens behind closed doors I get so confused. I don't know these people's voices or what the hell they're talking about. Grrrrr

My boyfriend is obsessed with this show. Which is strange, as he doesn't usuallly like reality television. By the end of last night's episode, I don't know which side I was rooting for (regarding Allison's firing). I'm pretty sure that Kelani is batshit crazy, though. And Ed, my goodness, when he said "She's fired. I don't want any ifs ands or buts" - that was totally him trying to be all badass for the cameras.

Ed's weak- shouldn't he have been the one to fire Allison? I think Allison came off better in later episodes. It looked like she was making a good effort to get these events planned and to me it seemed like Ed or whoever in the Ice bureaucracy wouldn't open the purse strings. Allison's insults of all the employees on her way out was probably not the most professional thing to do, but I laughed hard and thought she was spot-on especially in regards to crazy Kelani.
Maybe I'm mean, but I thought her little person prank on that bartender was hilarious. I suppose one could have a phobia about anything but little person phobia seems absurd. Isn't the best way to get rid of any phobia is to expose yourself to it more and more and recognize there is nothing to fear? In a way, Allison was helping out that poor bartender!

Could the Gay night have been Kalani's idea? Perhaps? [/sarcasm]
From this week's episode I got the feeling that Ed was skimming money off the top and cutting such a huge check would have exposed that fact.

Well, every time Alison said something about the money, the amount changed. One time she said they had to write a check for $20,000, and then later it was $5,000 and then it was $10,000. The amount seemed to depend on who was around her when she said it, and which figure made her look the best.
Tonight's episode was fabulous, even if the name

I can't believe no one is watching this show!!!
Between last week and this week The Club became a Guy Ritchie movie. I'm sure when Ed signed up for this show, he never dreamed the climax of the reality plotline would be him getting ousted from his club!!
Judging by his really tame reaction, "You guys better read that contract that said I had 100% ownership of the club..." Ed must be really guilty of something. From their vague comments it sounded like Kalani was getting a huge unauthorized income. If this was legitimately my club, if I were Ed, I'd be freaking out- yelling, screaming, punching, calling police. Admittedly, the investors new "management team" (or as I like to call them, thugs) were a scary bunch and I wouldn't want to take them on.
I loved how at one point when they were naming all the people on the new management team and what they did, they said one of them was a lawyer. I was like, which one's the lawyer??- the irish guy in a wifebeater with lots of tattoos, the other big irish guy with even more tattoos, the menacing looking black guy with a glass eye??

Well, I for one am watching the show. I consider it a guilty pleasure.. :)
I thought it was funny to watch Ed walk up to the club that last morning, see the camera people there, and ask, "What are you guys doing here?" He'd probably never seen them there so early in the morning.
I don't think the show is that bad. You really get to see a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff that one would never realize went on in clubland.

When the initial previews suggested a hostile takeover I wrote it off as a trick to get viewers, boy was I wrong. I'm even watching this show on Wednesday night rather than waiting til Saturday night like I usually do. According to the Ice website there will be a marathon on January 2nd, I'm gonna watch to see if I can see the problems that forced Ed out.
On to the episode: Greg, JUST realized that Kalani was in charge? Greg is slow.
I hated those pink jumpsuits too
No one was doing a regular alcohol inventory? IDIOTS.
The New/Old General Manager, Derek, is hot.
Neil is a hard-ass.
There goes my dream of opening a club, it's too hard and I don't even like people or clubs or the volume.

Ok, what is a VIP host, and why are there so many of them?
I'm still trying to figure out what they do..
One has to wonder how much honesty there is when the employees speak about the change in managers. I figure they can't be too candid for fear of their jobs.
Overall, it was a slow episode compared to the last one. I hope things get more interesting in the next one.

While yes, it is a way to get rid of a phobia it is usually much better if the person WANTS to get rid of the phobia. I am surprised the bartender just didn't walk off the job. Allison was utterly unprofessional and could easily be sued for creating a hostile work enviroment.

Ok, I missed the 1st few episodes, but I started watching the marathon as soon as I realized it was on. A few questions... is
godskitchen the name of the takeover thugs or the name of the British guy's org that's going to be running the club now. Like, if I wanted a club taken over, can I call them, or do they only work for OldOwnerGuy and the new Brit guy?
From their vague comments it sounded like Kalani was getting a huge unauthorized income.
What makes you say that? I only caught it when OldOwnerGuy said to whomever was on the phone, "oh, it looks like these boys are in trouble."
The New/Old General Manager, Derek, is hot.
Amen, amen -- but I think he's a bit of a midgey. When he stands next to the server-chicks, they're, like taller than he. Just saying.
While the previous server-chick outfits
were horrid, the cotton tank look with the shitty Ice logo on it didn't seem like the type of image they'd want to convey.
Oh, and ED IS GROSS.

Maybe it's just a coincidence but maybe it's not, but the same production company (Reveille Entertainment) behind this show was also behind "The Restaurant." I'm just pointing this out because both shows had the storyline of the guy claiming to be the owner (Ed for "the Club"/Rocco for "The Restaurant") being ousted.

But can someone who knows of such things tell me what the hell a Barback is?
The Deej, a barback is mostly a "gofer" -- they fill ice, stock beer, cut lemons/limes, wash glasses, change kegs... mostly do whatever needs to be done to support the bar staff. In a lot of places, you have to barback before you can become a bartender.
Topic? I love this show. Was the marathon only 3 shows long or did my Tivo miss some episodes? Alison is a royal bitch, but I still like her better than anyone who uses the phrase "Chucky style" to refer to a woman.

I believe your Tivo may have messed up. I started watching at 6 PST and they were still showing episodes when I went to bed at 11. Thanks for the barback explanation.
I am a bit concerned about the return of Allison. Here's hoping she's actually effective this time. I am very much looking forward to wednesday's new episode. Ed apparently makes an appearance. I mostly want to find out what they found so interesting in the paperwork they found during the office raid.
there is one thing I wonder, when Joe Lopez was in the club after his firing, why didn't the PR guy who INVITED him mention that. Joe seemed to take his dismissal relatively well he didn't seem like he was there to cause trouble
TheDeej
Jan 9, 2005 @ 12:54 pm
Well the last episode wasn't quite as dramatic as I thought it was going to be, since the former employee they were confronting was not Ed, but still good nonetheless.
I can understand the feelings on the uniforms. Corsets tend to be best custom fitted to the wearer both for style and comfort. The last thing a cocktail waitress needs to be is uncomfortable.
The most interesting part was with the VIP hosts. I don't know why they didn't fire that one guy, as it seemed he was charging these "table fees" for a while now.
And how can we forget Allison. There's a big part of me that really wants to see her crash and burn. It still seems to me she talks big but can't truly deliver. Only time will tell.
I do feel a bit sorry for the General Manager though. Ok so maybe they didn't need seven managers like they had before GK took over, but at least give him an assistant manager. So far he seems to be ok, firm when he needs to be but not prone to assholishness like Joe was.

You guys might think Derek is hot, but I have to say, I have this odd attraction to Neil.
I'm glad Ed was ousted. He was a jerk. And his wife was just strange.
I don't get Allison. She claims to have had years of success and experience, but the girl doesn't seem all that professional, mature or can deliver on the things she claims she can.
If celebs "follow" her to whatever club she is going to, why was it so hard to get anyone to hop on a private jet and go to Vegas?
And did you guys hear when she said, "Who wants to go to a craphole in the desert?" (and that was said after she was re-hired). Nice attitude to have toward a company that is paying someone to simply lure celebs to their club.

Scorpio: yeah, I'm with you on the Neil lustage. Although he really could stand to dress better. I dunno what it is about British men. Yummy.
I was Alison to fail, and fail big time. She seems to blame her shortcomings on the Club rather than the real source, her. No one can successfully promote something if they don't believe in it. Her professionalism just does not exist. For someone involved in promotions I wouldn't call her a people person

I didn't even realize the show had a new starting until half way through it. Stuff like that amuses me to no end. Anyway, Allison probably bitched big time after she was fired the first time so why would anyone want to go to the club again?
I'm not sure Allison really knows anyone, Rod Stewart's son? Puh-Lease.
I wanted to smack Kayla Corset whining about the outfits not getting her tips, I wanted to tell her it might be the braces that were hindering her tippage. I have no problem with braces, I wore them myself, but I don't imagine that men like to imagine certain lascivious acts being performed by women with braces.

My boyfriend has become addicted to this show, and I've sort of been carried along for the ride. Now I love it! The corset drama and Kayla's whining was complete gold, IMHO. Crying over not being able to thrust your chest at men? So sorry to hear that, hun. The tank tops are horrid, though.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who wants to see Allison (and her butterface) fall flat on the ground. Best buds with Nikki and Paris? Oh really? The boyfriend initially liked her, and sided with Ed on the whole debacle. Now he's seeing the light and seeing her for the hack she is. For a 'craphole', lots of celebs do seem to go to Vegas - you're offering them transport too - that doesn't seem too terrible with all your 'connections', girly girl.

I don't blame Kayla for wanting to sex-up the uniforms. From all indications, before the managements changed, everybody was making money on the side. These poor waitresses were only geting tips. I can see why she'd be thinking, "I want to milk as much money out of the customer as I can--just like everyone else." But it was so childish of her to get upset when she didn't get way.
I haven't seen the new episode yet, but in a preview I read, "Allison schmoozes Greg Neely." I can only imagine what that means. I want to vomit at the thought of Allison flirting with Gramps. Gross.

Man, my crush on Neil has grown. I like this guy because he's not a flake, he's not an idiot and he's not an asshole. He's serious about what he's doing while being reasonable. And he seems to get things done.
Can you believe Allision? I'm mean really. What would you do if you were checking your messages and heard Allison whine, "I called you FIVE times! Call me back!"
And she can't even round up a bunch of her friends, yet she disses Marc J for not having hotel rooms booked. What a bitch. I wonder who she's going to bring. The cast of "The Surreal Life"?
(During the previews, I got a glimpse of the poeple on the plane. None of them looked familiar.)
I don't know what it is about the VIP hosts, but they seem a little too laid back to me.
Usually, I'm bothered by product placement on reality shows, but for some reason, I don't mind it on this show.

If it wasn't for the fact Surreal life 3 just started airing in Canada, I wouldn't have had any idea who Ryan Starr is. I did recognice the guy from Angel, but considering she was bragging about the Hilton sisters being close friends I was expecting much better. The rest were just nobody friends of hers. For this they hire a private jet? As Neil said, she was wasting their money
She is indeed a fake. Now, feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but she is to help promote the club, right. Last I checked bad mouthing the club to your "celebrity friends while IN THE FREAKIN'; CLUB is not promotion. It's out and out defamation.

TheDeej: You are so right. When she first got hired, she bashed the club. When she was working with them, she was bashing the club. When she got fired she ran her mouth. Then she came back and said how much she wanted to work with the real owners and, soon after, was back to bashing the club. If she hated it so much, why didn't she just move on?
Did she stick around because she just wanted some camera time or what?
If she's so freaking popular in LA, why doesn't she just stay there then?

Man, Allison is a sad case.. I can't believe they gave her a second chance in the first place.
I really like the show, and will be sad to see it end, but lately it's been striking me as more a commercial than a show. I mean, they go out of their way to show all of these products. Heineken bottles in the club. The people on the show all drive Chrysler and Dodge, and it's very prominently shown. At the poker table, they were quite obviously showing the CC. And how many times in the last few episodes have they said "The best dj in the world, Paul whateverhisnameis"?

I'm SO happy what's-her-name finally got her stupid corset uniforms. Yeah lady, those are the definition of comfy. They looked a tad too trashy for the waitresses in my opinion. It's a nightclub, not a strip club - you don't need your bosoms pushed up to your neck unless you are selling yourself and not drinks.
The girl who was a boxer - who cares??!! You're not interesting enough to have your own storyline! Now I'm curious if they tried to get, say, Neil, to agree to be followed around at home and outside the club. HIS life might be interesting.
The new DJ booth looked awesome!! (note to self: when I open up my club, put DJ booth near the people and not 20 ft in the air). Neil did a great job overall. He fixed some things that were obvious like the one cashier booth (hello long lines) and the bouncers and other things that weren't obvious (i'm sure they did something better with marketing because Ice seemed a lot more popular).

This show is kind of funny. That english guy is funny because he hates everything and is so serious. I'm not a club person really but it's funny how seriously these people take themselves for owning and running a club that is merely a glorified bar that plays music that for the most part all sounds the same.
I find it hard to believe that Allison is 38 though...I mean she looks like early 30's max. Maybe I'm wrong but she does look really young.....kickin body too.
