OK, I had to edit to post a rec for an awesome fic: Always Where I Need to Be, by clevermonikerr. It's an L/V fic (with appearances by Parker and Dick) set the morning after Parker's birthday party.

I'm here to rec another fic by clevermonikerr: Gifthorse, a WIP in which the adult Mac is sent back to high school...as Madison. It's a really cool idea, as she is still "our" Mac on the inside, so she knows everything that has happened and will happen over the next two years. There's a tiny Buffy crossover, but it's more of an in-joke. You don't have to know anything about Buffy to appreciate the story.

Also, a note of warning about What Happens Next, recced above: In her haste to get more chapters out, I think the author is starting to let her grammar and punctuation go by the wayside. The plot is still interesting, but it's getting hard to read. Just FYI.

It's not epic--it's just a single phone conversation between Veronica and Logan, and yet so much happens.

I don't know about other people, but it's fine with me--my Memories are all VM fics, mine and others that I just really liked. It's very incomplete though--I saved a whole bunch of fic links on my hard drive until I figured out the Memories thing, so I've gotta add those too!

ETA: Another good future fic: Out of Harm's Way, by acinogan. It's a WIP, and part 2/3 was just posted the other day. It begins at the start of sophomore year, and V is still with Piz...for now.

...and another future fic I must recommend: In the Dark by delicatelight. It's hot and angsty, and the ending is nothing that you would have predicted.

Oz, one of my very favorite future fics, which was written post-season 2 finale, is Snapshot by crimsonclad. Hilarious and angst free but SO Logan/Veronica.

So... I am writing a fic and it's turning into a bit of an epic - in potential length... I'm not that egotistical :-) and I'm pretty sure I will need it beta'd as I'm English and could be having the characters saying ridiculously English things without realising it. Can you guys let me know how I go about getting a fic beta'd? I've never thought about writing one before but this idea just will not quit me, so haven't really paid too much attention when people have been discussing this in the past.

I'd love to help you out with that myself, ozBlackCat, but I'm spending all of my time on EHaO and then I'm on my way out. But if you're getting started with LJ, which is something I'd definitely recommend for anyone starting VM fanfic, then you can ask about help here. I know it looks like it hasn't been updated in almost a year, but there's still a lot of people watching that community who would probably love to beta for you.

I'll second HeyJuliet's recommendation for the VM beta community. Also, once your piece is written, post a link in one of the VM fic communities--veronicamarsfic, gogetem_bobcat, veronicalogan, etc. A lot of people are still watching all of those, so not only will you get a lot of readers for your stories, but you can start making like-minded LJ friends who might be interested in beta-ing future stories.

I'm here with a self pimp. I updated my WIP, Ten Thousand Miles. Here is the latest chapter and links to the others. It centers around Veronica and Logan spending their spring break in Australia with Duncan. It's set around 3.15.

...and in a reciprocal rec, I must heartily recommend "Ten Thousand Miles," and not just because I've been beta-ing it (ha ha, I get to read it before anyone else...). It's a cool idea for a plot, and clevermonikerr's Logan and Veronica voices are really well done.

I'm looking for a fic set during the summer after the first season (I think). Logan goes to New England to visit Lynn's parents who he'd never met. There was some weird demon thing. That's about all I remember. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

TheLynn, the fic you're thinking of is Fish Out of Water. It's at the author's livejournal here. I love that fic, it's fantastic and it reminds me a bit of the adventure movies I used to like as a kid.

Another self-pimp: The Actor, featuring Logan, Aaron, Lynn, and other VM characters. It's different than most of my fics, but I like how it turned out.

I updated my story Gifthorse today. It's an AU Season One with Mac living Madison's life. I originally started writing it because of a request someone had on here for fic that had Mac and Madison switched, so I thought I'd pimp it here.

I loved The Actor, and I really recommend it.

Another Rec: The Girl in the Mirror. It's a crossover with Heroes, and is just fantastic. It's dark and a little disturbing, but extremely well-written and kept me on the edge of my seat.

I'm looking for a fic I read a long time ago. It took place during the summer after Season 3. Logan and Parker were dating each other seriously but she leaves Hearst to visit her parents or something. When she and Logan say goodbye in the airport, she tells him they will break up for the time she's away so he has the permission to date other people. Somehow, Logan and Veronica end up spending the summer together. Then I remember a scene in the Neptune Grand where he returns from surfing and she's there and they have a really big fight. Has anyone heard of this great fic?

Speaking of which...... *drumroll*.... Come Around has been updated! There isn't enough exclamatory remarks I can make about how excited I am. So I shall go read the entire series again... As should you all.

I just read it for the first time, and I highly recommend it as well.

I love La, but I want to warn people in case they're monogamous L/V shippers- both Come Around and Something to Break Down might be hard to read.

I second HeyJuliet's warning, but I will say in the case of Come Around, that I still have faith that the author will manage to bring it back around in the end. It might seem bleak at times, but if you can stand the journey and the wait for new chapters, go for it. She's managed in previous stories to bring L/V back together even when it seemed utterly hopeless, so I think she can do it this time. And she always has a plan, so don't worry about her playing it by ear or changing her mind about the ending or anything.

I agree with redpencil's assessment. In fact, (very vague spoiler ahead) shangri_la said in a Q&A post that she did plan to bring them together. In future fic, when they haven't been together in a while, I'm OK with them having relationships with other people...for the time being. :)

I also have faith that Come Around will bring them back together. Being an ardent L/V fan that pretty much has to happen in my book. However, the reason I love Come Around is that I was pretty annoyed with Veronica throughout most of Season 3 and like reading a fic where she gets a bit of comeuppance and isn't the queen bee. I just hope I don't have to wait another 6 months for an update...!

I do agree with HeyJuliet that some of Shangri_La's stories are hard to read if you love L/V, so I definitely don't recommend Deadly Poisons (warning! major character death)... Though I kind of do recommend reading it as it is still awesome.

Heh, I think that's one of my main issues with this fic, actually. I outright couldn't stand Veronica for a lot of the last season, but she's just so...pathetic in this fic, and it's hard to read everyone, even her own father, acting like they couldn't care less about her. I don't want to see Logan kicked when he's down and I don't want to see it happen with Veronica, either. I'm sure it'll get better as the fic goes on, but at this point it really hasn't happened yet and it's just hard to read. I'm at the point where Logan and everyone else is annoying me and I want Veronica to tell them all to go to hell.

ETA: But I love Deadly Poisons, and I actually think that's a really good L/V fic in a very dark and twisted way!

In Come Around, I kind of feel like Veronica's lying in the bed she made--in the story, not in canon, although given how she acted in s3, it's easy to see how she would go that way. I find it really interesting that Veronica's flaws that she refused to acknowledge for so long came back to bite her in the ass, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it all comes around. (See what I did there? That wasn't even on purpose. :) )

That's true. I think what makes it hard is that other characters allude to Veronica's dastardly deed of running off and leaving them all, but we (as readers) never get any more information about it than that. It does make it a bit hard to feel sorry for Logan, Keith etc when you're not really sure the full extent of what Veronica did.

Also, I am praying against hope that it doesn't end up a Logan/Razia fic as then I will cry and it will be bad.



Haha! The story title alone gives me hope for this very reason.
