This is probably my favorite fic in all of fandom (yes, in the history of ever) - in part because of the kick-ass characterization, in part because of the wonderful writing style, and in (probably largest) part because reading this fic is what made me want to start watching Veronica Mars. It's very close to my heart, and I'm pretty sure that matches up with what you were talking about. (I hope I'm right! :)

kur, that was really fast! I really like Hannah in this fic. Weevil having an infatuation with Hannah? Aw. And he's asking for Logan's permission to pursue it? Double Aww. I love how their relationship evolves from the semi-hostile manner they interact and the reluctant bond they have in the beginning to a genuine friendship they're having now. They never fail to bring the funny.

I can't even list all the incredible writers in our fandom who contributed to this week's issue of the Neptune Navigator Online because it is already 3:00 and I have done almost nothing work related. So I am delurking for two things.

1. Kur - excellent chapter, and I am on tenterhooks waiting for the next one.

and 2. I like several of these darker fanfics - but I don't think I've seen one that has Veronica...twisted up. She's such a strong character, who can bend, but very rarely; I keep thinking that with all that has happened to her, and could happen to her, that those characteristics would work against her.

Like, her perception gets twisted 90 degrees. Not the whole 180, so she goes completely haywire, but just enough that everything is off. Similar to Necrosis by sinaddict, or Tilt-a-Whirl by ladydisdain225, but with Veronica a little more...off.

I would attempt to write it, but my characterization is for shit and all my stories end up being some pathetic Mary Sue.

So can anybody make a rec?

kl42, this fic was recommended a long time ago, but you might want to check Poly Want to Crack Her? by Gardener over at fanfiction.net. It has twisted Veronica, a unique story and the closing paragraph is both powerful and chilling.

Does anyone know any Meitantei Conan/Veronica Mars crossover? I...don't think so, but just thought I better ask anyway. I just thought it could work ,what with both of them being high-school detective and all. I'd pay good money to read any fic about V babysitting Conan while they were solving cases together.

I was totally going to stay away from fanfic sites, but after last night's episode I need to read something with an explanation of what happens between when Logan leaves Veronica's house and when he picks her up at the office. Anything yet?

The only thing I have found remotely associated with the finale so far is this. I liked it. It starts with L and V on the couch in her apartment.

I've been looking, but I've found a lack of Cassidy or Cassidy/Mac fics that deal with the whole molestation thing. (Closest I've seen is Teen Heat, where you can see an oblique sideways nod at the possibility of the issue, if you want to see it there and if you squint a little.)

Does anyone know of any such fics? If they're out there, I'd like to read them. Especially any "Not Pictured"-non-compliant retconnish fics which have a NotEvil!Cassidy. (I'm still a bit in denial. Had you guessed?)

Alright, so I'm pimping my own post-"Not Pictured" fic. It's called Hindsight is 20/20 and it's an ensemble piece that goes through the reactions of various characters to Beaver's death.

And just so I don't feel so dirty for the self-pimpage, I also recommend The Burning Girl by Trixen (Keith, Mac, Cassidy, Dick, L/V) and I Haven't Seen Barbados by monimala (Mac, general). They are both really excellent and shatter your heart in certain places.
