I am new to this thread and would appreciate it if someone would post a link to When Cuddling Is Not the Best Part. You guys rave about it and the title alone makes me desperate to read it. Okay, first off, thanks to kur, MissBegonia and queen_haq for the recs, since I've been too busy/lazy/involved in battling the demonic aliens of Zorthaag to do it myself. Love you muchly!

Second, I'm waaaaay belatedly here to announce that I am running a ficathon, or more specifically, a Pants-A-Thon, over at LJ. Basic premise - it must be L/V, it must be R+, and it must have leather pants. Yup, that's right, leather pants. I'm accepting submissions through Dec. 30. There will be multiple readers' choice awards given, so I'll come back to post a link to the poll once the deadline for entries has passed. L/V/P = OT3, folks. Hee.

Several awesome pantsalicious stories have already come in, several of which were written by writers here, including Disdainful Lady, queen_haq, Her Owlness and twome. (Please let me know if I've missed you - I get confused when people's TWoP and LJ handles are different.) Go read and love them!

Thanks, Doula76. I was really worried about the realism of their dialogue. I think Logan is particularly difficult because the way Dohring delivers his lines is always a little unusual -- so the text has to somehow convey the way Dohring would say the line as well as the words Logan would actually say.

Mutinousmuse, I read your This Alien Shore story (yaay! It's the first part, so there will be more!) last week. It's so much fun. I can't believe you can seemlessly include Duncan-is-an-alien with naked-Logan-with-a-gun, leather-pants, and handcuffs. Heh. Now that's a LoVeATHON challenge answered right there.

I've gotta say I'm loving reading the pants-a-thon challenges and I was wondering where the idea came from. As far as I can remember Logan has never worn leather pants so I'm assuming someone saw a picture of Jason Dohring wearing a pair and was (ahem) inspired.
Can someone please tell me I'm right and if so direct me to the pic.

The idea was actually inspired by the hotness that was Ben Browder in leather on Farscape although I think there is a picture of Jason in leather pants floating around somewhere (from the Black Cadillac premiere?). He looks sooo young in that pic, sadly.

I just watched 'Black Cadillac' and while I didn't hate it I was far from loving it. JD does look and act like he's about 14 but I think that was unfortunately the point. I'll have to do a google search to see if I can find the premiere pics.

Glad you liked it, miniglik! And you're absolutely right. The icon you saw was one of the two I made for the challenge, and damn straight that was Ben Browder's ass. The other one is of Ben Browder's, ah, hip area. Yes. Hips. Hum.

Disdainful Lady is right - the idea was largely inspired by the hotness of Ben. I too found that fabulous JD pants pic when I was searching for pics to use in the banner I made for the challenge, and while it wasn't the catalyst for the Pants-A-Thon, it was certainly an appreciated addendum! In addition to BB, the Pants-A-Thon was also inspired by the fabulous leather pants love I've seen in other fandoms (namely BtVS and HP), and my desire to see that love spread like an insidious cancer here in VM.

It appears to be working.

ETA: Oh, and it's MUSE, not mouse. While I do have rodent love, it's more from the standpoint of an observer. Common mistake, though. :)

It's the most action intensive story I've written and I'm happy I seem to have held the tension up. I'd love to hear any other reactions to it. I'm particulary delighted in the number of people who seem to have not anticipated my ending, because I wasn't sure it wouldn't be completely obvious.

Sexycereal posted a terrific Veronica/Logan Christmas fic - Change Is All I've Got. It's long but totally worth the read.

I have to put in a nay vote for that last one, and really all of tennysonslady. Like all her fic the characterization is ridiculous and the plot is miles past melodramatic. She also imposes not just her love of poetry, but also her specific taste in poetry on the characters (I might find that even more annoying except my policy is to skip any song lyrics or poetry included in fic as if it didn't exist). Basically she writes original fic with Veronica Mars character names tacked as an afterthought.

WickedPlum, I would have to agree that it's very different. I skip the poetry part as well and I absolutely agree it's not normal characterization or close to canon, but it did engage me. That being said, I'm still holding my breath for more Cuddling and Holding the Curve :)

After a lengthy hiatus, I put my new (used) Xmas laptop to good use, and spent the day crafting an NC-17 Logan/Veronica fic. I'm feeling a little out-of-practice and rusty, but I hope you all enjoy, nonetheless.

An Inexplicable Tendency To Tapdance

I started this story over at the LoVe board. I thought that I could get good feedback here, also. People please be gentle since this is my first fic. Unfulfilled Desires WIP Hope you guys like it.

Whew. I've finished Part 2 of Truth... It chewed me up and spit me out. I hope it works. It doesn't have a whole lot happening other than dialogue.

Hopefully now I can catch up on my fic reading.

All the recently recced fics were awesome! Nice way to spend an incredibly boring day. That said, can I geek out to ask if anyone knows of any decent fics based on spoiler spec? This was quite a popular genre in the X-Files fandom and I was curious if anyone is doing it for VM. Ideally about what is coming up for L/V. Thanks!

sadie kate, I really loved "An Inexplicable Tendency." I have to admit that I thought I wouldn't because of the word short-lived in the summary and Logan's willingness to be used: "I can live with it, though," he says, and he brings his mouth to hers. But you totally won me over with the quietness of these two, and the sense that they'd maybe grown up a little. And lines like these "It's very you," he says, and he means it. New Veronica is Old Veronica is Original Veronica is This Veronica. No matter what she's like, he will always recognize the earlier versions of her too, the stepping stones she takes to get to wherever she decides to go. broke my heart but then you made it all better with the promise implied in the last lines.
