For Christmas, an update of Killer Crossover by Lady D would be so nice. Pretty please with a cherry on top?

*LOL* Seriously, thanks! I'm sorrrrrry it's been so long without an update to Holding the Curve.
kaylasue685~ I know you were talking with Santa, but I will take over for him. He writes terrible fic. Bleah.
YuppieLawyer ~ Please! Not a life of crime! I'll steer you back on the straight and narrow!
rose marie~ Thanks - new installment is very close!
And the oh-so-patient aurora621~ I wish I could say I have an update!! You've been so sweet to ask !
The good news is that tonight I took my last final for the semester, so I'm free of grad school for a few weeks! This means I can finally write again! I'm really happy, as I've been dying to get the new chapter done. I promise it is on its way SOON. Like, tomorrow night. Hopefully. *crosses fingers*
I'm very grateful for the attention to this fic - thanks so much! :)

skk670 - I loved the all the chapters of this crossover but I really loved yours. Excellent job of maintaining the tone of the previous chapters and the characterizations. I have to say, I really enjoyed the storylines probably because they are so similar to an actual VM episode. The only thing that I question is that Duncan seems to have a personality! Please write the next one soon! (But I still miss Cuddling too!)
tiana - Thrilled to hear more Holding the Curve is coming. I'm trying to wait patiently!

Cailet, happy to help out! I'm not a V/Wallace shipper myself, and the idea of them moving beyond BFF'ness tends to squick me out (she needs a guy in her life that doesn't come with romantic entanglements!), so I don't read those fics. And I stopped reading V/Weevil when there got to be too much fanfic being posted to keep up with it all. They don't appeal to me in general (except in very well-written fics), and I just don't have the patience to wade through the dreck anymore to find the good stuff. Still, I'm happy to hear that you found some pieces that you enjoyed! :)

I can't believe that you placed a higher priority on your finals than on your fic. ;)
Your tongue must be poking through your cheek right now. ;)
Update on my fanfic-under-construction:
I will unfortunately be unable to submit it until I get my own computer with a compatible word-processing program; my parents refuse to put any more programs on the family computer. I hope to rectify this by the middle of February at the latest.

Hey, guys, you know what's crazy? I just went back through the first SEVENTY-SEVEN pages of post here. And then clicked on the link to each fic I recced and others recced and also looked interesting. I have lost my freakin' mind. Because now I have, no joke, no exaggeration, about 60 or 70 windows up, and it's 10:20, and I'm tired, and I need to READ THESE. There are so many windows minimized that they're nothing more than the tiniest dots, about 1/3 of my cursor size. I have lost my mind. And here's to some very, very fun fic-reading ahead. Oh, geez.
This was all because I needed to kill five minutes.
ETA: Oh my god. Every single fic. That's what I just went through. Every single fic on the list. And it was amazing. A major, beyond belief fic binge. And I was going to go to bed early tonight! Oh well. Here's a short list of the ones that really got me tonight. They all were wonderful, but these fit my mood just now...
"Five Things that Don't Surprise Veronica Mars""Penance""The Past is a Prologue""Textbook""Five Pieces of Mail""Costume Jewelry""Choose Life" (awesome)
"That's Amore" - I hadn't read this before, so it was a nice find
"A Practiced Gait" - also new to me, also a treat
"Neptune Summer Series"And, of course,
theohara's
script fics, which know no limit to their awesomeness. Probably the best representation of the show, EVER. See
my long gushing post.
GOOD NIGHT!
ETA much later: One more really good one, which I suddenly realized while linking was from the same author who did "Past...Prologue" and "Choose Life":
"Snark Never Goes Out of Fashion", a piece I'm totally in love with
And, though I suddenly realize I didn't rec many of their fics, probably because I have read them so many times, you surely have to check out
sadie kate and
Sophia Bee's fics.
And I'm not calling you Shirley!

Kelmette16- Now THAT is dedication! LOL!

Dec 15, 2005 @ 3:46 pm
Adding some more fics that I reread last night, and needed to again rec their brilliance.
"Oh So Cadaveric, Said the Phoenix" - which, um, rules (link is to chapter 10, click to get to other chapters)
and
"Circle Jerk", which is just...wow
And I'm going to do a shameless link to my own angsty one-shot,
"Pressure", because I just reread it and I'm still pretty proud of it after all this time. (It was my first fic, ever)
I might go back to my previous post and try to link you guys to the new/old recs, so y'all could relive the emosewa.
Also, I have a request. I was trying to find the link to "Circle Jerk", and in the same post where I reccommended it (with a serious passion, it's genius), I noticed that this post conversation was happening:
flashback fic: another Truth or Dare game, in which Logan, having picked "Truth," lies about his abuse.
AWESOME. That is such a good idea - but my request, do one without any internal thoughts. No real in-depth POV, just the story, the dialogue, the actions. This would rock.
That was an idea someone threw out there, and I thought it would be a really great read (my comment is the second one - and I still like the idea of letting the pure 3rd-person description reveal all the characterization, without any thoughts. Heck, the story could even be isnide the Homecoming limo). As far as I know, nobody ended up writing such a fic. Anybody here want to take a crack at it during the hiatus?
Her Owlness
Dec 15, 2005 @ 4:10 pm
Kelmette16, I'm a big fan of 3rd person POVs (in general, more in previous fandoms) where the story is told from the perspective of a person who isn't directly involved in the action. Because, yes, then you get a lot more of the description and the dialogue telling the story, but you also get the interpretations of someone else - which may or may not be accurate. I think it's an interesting way to do a character study sometimes. And if I can think of a topic (and find the time), I might take you up on your challenge. I can always try to improve my dialogue and description, and practice is never a bad thing. :)
That being said, I come bearing holiday!fic (with a taste of smut), which is always fun.
Auld Lang Syne is Veronica/Logan New Year's fic and really is an alternate ending to 210. I loved Wallace's appearance, but I thought that this scenario could have been an acceptable alternative. :)
kunju
Dec 15, 2005 @ 4:17 pm
Kelmette, I just read (reread?) "Pressure."
I don't know if I'm just odd or if you meant to write it this way, but up until the last line, I was sure that
the "note" you kept talking about wasn't a suicide note but rather the note that Logan claimed to have left for Lilly (with the shot glass). In fact, I thought the story was about Veronica realizing too late that Logan had killed Lilly and that he was going to kill her for discovering the truth. So, you know, doubly creepy.
Very enjoyable!
I just got feedback from someone random on my one
VM story (feedback: "I'M SO CONFUSED") and thought I'd link to it to see if anyone else found it confusing too. I wrote it during the hiatus that followed "Ruskie Business" and the summary is "Every night, Veronica is Logan's jailer":
"The Bars."

queen_haq, I made a special stop at the library (no firewalls here, so I can post!) to beg you for more Equilateral. Pretty please?
Kelmette16
Dec 15, 2005 @ 4:41 pm
Thanks, Her Owlness. I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with. And as for "Auld Lang Syne," I'll call it hot with a side of hee! Nice job!
And kunju, you actually hit it pretty much on the nose. I did mean to write it that way, and in fact was worried that people wouldn't think that. I'm glad the misdirection worked. Thanks! Although, I hadn't been really going with the and that he was going to kill her for discovering the truth angle, though it's an interesting perspective that certainly works, more that Veronica finally realized it was Logan who killed Lilly, and hated that it was him and he had lied to and deceived her, and also hating herself for trusting and getting deeply involved with him. The fact that she knew she was so emotionally attached to him and then discovering he was the killer was what haunted her so much. Of course, that's not actually the story, as you read at the end, but that was the idea behind the misdirected emotion.
As for "The Bars", it may be a little confusing (until the last 3 words) because of the setting and unclear circumstances. At the end, however, it's pretty clear, at least to me. I loved the language you chose, every scene rang true and insightful, I thought your characterization was pretty great, and especially loved how the whole thing had this slightly surreal feel about it. So, all in all, a great fic.
Okay, if those annoying black bars drive people insane, just tell me and I'll remove that part of the post.

Kelmette, I'm always looking to discover older VM fics, as I'm just getting into VM fanfic, so its all new to me :).
I had to comment on your recently linked, "Pressure." OMG. Wow. Powerful. Loved the misdirection...I totally bought that you were saying Logan killed Lilly -- referring to the 'car wash' letter -- until I realized at the end that V was looking for a suicide note. Guh. I recently lost someone very important to me and things were left unsaid...the crushing powerlessness you feel when the situation can't ever be rectified is much like the suffocating pressure you have V experiencing. Very well done.
Now I'm off to read the other selections you linked to.

Thanks, Kelmette! I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed it. I don't have the most experience writing smut, but I think that one turned out rather well. I really like using the Loveathons challenges as a writing exercise to try to improve my writing. =)
And ... yeah, I'll see if I can't do some brainstorming on my loooong drive home this weekend. Winter break is wonderful, but the drive home is a bit on the long side. :-\

Dec 15, 2005 @ 9:26 pm
lapdogdesign, thank you so much for your comments. I'm so glad, again, that the device worked, and it really means a lot that you relate to the feelings in the fic. I definitely understand that kind of experience, and also in the way Veronica is feeling it (which is probably why the piece just shot out faster than my hands could write it), and it's very nice to hear that somebody else knows and feels what I was trying to express through all the language and imagery. And, for you, I am going to go back now and try to direct-link to all those fics in my previous post - I hope you enjoy the world of VM fanfiction! There's a lot more out there than just in that post; I really just linked to some amazing ones that fit at the time I read them (which, incidentally, was about 1 am, so)
All you guys have seriously given me more confidence, and I might actually go out and finish a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fic, all of which I started at the same time as this one (which was, like, in June) and are yet incomplete. It's really such a warm feeling to hear these comments.
And
Her Owlness, anticipation building. Have a safe and productive drive!
ETA:
lapdogdesign, and any others, for also some great - more than great, completely out-of-this-world - fanfic, you need to check out Juliette's fics. I didn't rec them before because I'd read them so many times that I didn't bother to The Night of the Great Fanfiction Binge. But, here are some of the best of the best (in the order you should read them):
Hollow You OutInertia CreepingHemotology (Blood Tells) for possibly the best Duncan POV ever
And then once you're hooked from those three, go to
this page and have an amazing time. (you may have to refresh it once or twice)

Personally,
Kelmette, I think that
You Think You Know Somebody is my favorite fic of Juliette/
sinaddict. I knew her from a previous fandom, so she was on my LJ Flist. And I'd never read a good 2nd person fanfic, so when she posted one, I almost *had* to read it. Even if I was unfamiliar with the fandom.
And then I was just totally engaged by the characters of Logan and Veronica that I really just felt compelled to start watching. I managed to get tapes of earlier episodes to get caught up and just ... yeah. That piece will just always have a special place in my heart, I guess. But, yes, the other ones you recommended are also wonderful. =)

Her Owlness, that's so cool that Juliette inspired you to watch "Veronica Mars." And wasn't it worth it? :) Yes, I also love "You Think You Know Somebody." It's fantastic, as are all her V/L fics, and indeed, all of them. That one does stand out among the top, though.

Kelmette16 thank you so so SO Much for your recs! Oh my goodness I was in fan fic heaven last night! Those script fics are AMAZING!!!!! Do you know the person that wrote them? if so, could you please put in a good word for her to finish them because i'm DYING here! I left a comment on the last one saying as much. I laughed, I cried, everything was so spot on and I literally yelled at the screen when I realized the last one was still to be continued and there were no more to read. This wasn't a good thing because I was at work at the time. People already think i'm a bit strange there as it is..

Just as you recommended, I lost myself in sinaddict's other great fics. Her writing is amazing.

YuppieLawyer, it was very rude of my real life to interfere with my important fic writing, I have to say!)
Thanks to everyone for the ongoing support of this fic. It always inspires me!

Thanks! And thanks for the comment!
edit: kaylasue - Thanks very much! I feel weird calling something that happens in my story a spoiler since it has nothing to do with 'spoilers' as we know them (for the show), but I figured other folks might want to figure it out, too! :) And again, thanks for reading and letting me know you liked it!

I'm really glad you guys enjoyed those fics I recommended. If you're dying without
theohara's script fics (as I am), bad news is that it looks like it's going to be a while before she gets more out. Good news? She has two other amazing VM stories that you'll definitely want to read.
Rich Dirt, one of my personal favorites, and has some of the best Old Veronica(morphing into New Veronica) characterization I've ever seen.
and, one that's been recced a million times,
Broken Toys, a

queen haq, I didn't really care in OAV when Meg died (for the third time), but now you've made me sad that she's gone. *sniff* R.I.P. Meg. *waves lighted cell phone in the air*
I wasn't sure I'd be down for a L/M pairing, but I'm loving Equilateral. I don't like Veronica this season so I'm all for Mogan, Leg...those suck, I know. But that's all I could come up with. I can't wait for the next chapter.
And to everyone else, keep up the good work. I am enjoying all of your fics.

Laurgan,
Don't give up on V this season...she'll be back to the Veronica we know and love after she cuts her hair, gets rid of VD and finds LoVe again! :)
I haven't read Equilateral just because I don't want to picture Logan and Meg together...I know he's a man whore but when we're talking about actual feelings and not just sex, I prefer him just being with Lilly or Veronica and Meg's not just a sex toy like Kendall.
That being said, other than NPBIC, which was the only time I liked Lamb, I was really suprised about how much I loved Greyscale!

theohara's "Rich Dirt" is my very favorite short fic ever; I think it deserves to be ranked up there with her alternate season 2. One fic I haven't seen get enough praise is
