I am SO becoming a gardener. Carols is a creep, but even with Garebell cheating on him, she still deserves better
Bree (shouldn't it be "Bri" as in "Briane"?) is the greatest. I love how they showed how she thinks with the needle/button thing.
I'm glad that Edie reacted "who gives a shit?" to finding the measuring cup. There are thousands of reasons that thing should had been there, but most TV Logic means that the person would somehow assume foul play.
Anyone didn't see the "kids being left behind" thing a million miles away?
Last thing; is it just me or are the commercials stuff that seems like it's aimed for a more masculine audience?

Another solid episode, I still can't believe how they manage to balance all the characters and storylines into one fast hour of television.
I'm not sure which mystery I am more interested in. I really want to learn why Mary Alice killed herself and what that note was pertaining too, I'm sure the package that Mr. Mary Alice threw in to the water had something to do with it, I desperately wanted to find out what the box was and of course what was inside it. On the other hand I really want to know why Mike is there, and who he is keeping track of.
Gloria and John are interesting, especially now that we've learned that John isn't in it for the sex....exclusively. I wonder how long that whole triangle is going to be featured, because I would like to see Gloria get involved with more and not have the triangle be the defining part of her storyline.
Bree is still my favourite character, I was feeling bad for her when she was chatting with her husband on the sofabed. Even though she's a bit neurotic I still want her to be happy. I wonder if Lynette will ever take Ms. Huber's advice again. While we don't know if leaving her kids at the curb will have a lasting impact it did bring the family together to escape from that cookiemonster lady. Poor Susan, first with leaving the measuring cup at Edie's then having Edie whore in on her dinner, then almost killing Bongo it was a rough dinner for her. I'm glad that she knows that Mike isn't really in play, that should lessen Edie's involvement and allow Susan to focus on the mystery note.
There's so many unanswered questions, how could I not countdown the hours until next Sunday at 6.

I could see it a million miles away but I have been so there. The kids are screaming, your head is pounding and they just. won't. listen.
I loved that she muttered "genius" before she returned and that the boys attacked the woman! So funny! I wasn't really expecting that part.
I actually pull over and sing to the radio until my two boys start behaving. They scream in terror at the thought of my singing!!

One of the two best lines of the episode?
"Yeah, Edie's a carnivore."
I liked this one just like the last one. So glad that Lynette dropped those spawns of Satan off to the curb. I thought that Mike was being an asshat when he snapped at Susan like that. He so redeemed himself at the vet's office. Also, where is that map exactly?
Can't wait until next week to see how Bree reacts to Rex revealing to Carlos that they are seeing a marriage counselor after dropping the tray of hors d'oeuvres. Methinks she's pull off the wig and get out her remote control and blow up Wisteria Lane. And Gay Matt's back next week!

I really love this show for being so escapist but still somewhat intelligent. I love the tongue in cheek moments. Hate Edie though. She is looking nasty. What happened to Nicolet Sheridan? I figured the stay-at-home mom would be able to handle all those boys since she handled the male dominated corporate world, but I stand corrected. Her sons need to be beat!
I am fully involved in the plots here. It kind of scares me. Marcia Cross is a goddess in the nighttime soap world. She's awesome and plays her roles so well. She's kinda scary.
I don't have a garden, but I'd grow one if I could have a gardener as hot as Jesse Metcalf.
Glad the dogs going to live.

Second episode did not disappoint. All of the subplots neatly flowed together and I was interested in all of them.
I think I might have to start calling Teri Hatcher's character Suzy McNipples. And whichever surgeon did Nicolette Sheridan's lower half should start working on her face because he/she does good work.

I have to say that I'm liking Bree a lot more in this ep than in the pilot. So Mike has a wall of weird about the people in the neighborhood? Creepy. Carlos is an ass. I don't like any of the men on this how except for Mike. I really can't take the busybody neighbor. Read a book or something. I love Teri Hatcher's daughter on this. What is her name again. I think she's so cool. I hope we get one episode from the prespective of the kids. And he didn't think to weigh down the trunk with the teddy bears? Think man. Think.

Teri Hatcher continues to impress me with her acting in this episode. She's quick to learn how to get the dog to lick, er like her and quick to learn that Mike is still in love with his dead wife.
The trunk that Mr. Young threw in the water looked like it was a toy chest of some kind. I wonder if that's what Mike is looking for. Speaking of Mike, he's doing a real good job of keeping his cover and still finding time for the ladies of Wisteria Lane.

Didn't notice the commercials - flipping back and forth with J&B to see if it mattered to me anymore (conclusion: not)
I am SO hiring a gardener.
I'm loving the busy body one, Mrs. Kravitz (or whatever), "Just because she's trash doesn't mean she has to dress like it," and "but we don't need to add salt to her wounds" were classic.
Yeah, leaving the boys by the side of the road was predictable, but the encounter with the policeman was funny and well-played, and the boys standing up for mom moment was surprisingly sweet.
LOL at the teddy bears and balloons on the sunken skeletons box when it popped up at the end. So, the secret is probably from the kid's childhood, eh? I guess that fits with the thing from Pilot, how the son had only heard that sound once before but immediatedly recognized it (the sound of a family secret, that is.)

Mike and Susan? Holy moly, they had a lot of chemistry in the vet scene? Why? Because all good (and hot) relationships are based on friendship.
I don't know how long I can stand Lynette's storyline with the evil brood. I hope she gets something else to do.
Speculation (I haven't read any spoilers): I think Mike is trying to find the murderer of his wife and it's someone in that neighbourhood. Could he have written the note?

Hey, it was Ted from Scrubs playing the shrink! It was throwing me for a loop to see him so composed and self-assured. And I loved how he stuck up for Bree when Rex was ranting about how the marriage problems were 100% Bree's fault.
Man, Susan has the WORST luck. First the arson, then she almost kills Mike's dog. She needs to just live in a little plastic bubble so she can't hurt anybody.
Mrs. Kravitz is spooooky--but smart. She's figuring out about Susan and the measuring cup and that conversation with Lynette about her mother leaving her on the side of the road speaks volumes.
I loved how Lynette seemed to bond with her boys over the clash with that woman. They even buckled their seat belts. I bet the woman got the license plate number, it looked like she was squinting.

I liked this a lot better than the pilot, because in the pilot, I really didn't get the sense that these people interacted on a personal level. Here, we saw Gabrielle and Susan coming back from shopping and Lynette talking to Mrs. Huber. That was great.
Loved Bree and the therapist as well as Susan's gravy perfume that backfired on her, which seems to be par for the course with Susan.

Anyone didn't see the "kids being left behind" thing a million miles away?
Yes. Totally. Though I was expecting more along the line of the kids hiding to scare the crap out of Lynette. Wasn't expecting the overzealous neighbour lady. I did find the kids attacking the neighbour lady to be very sweet...in a disturbing, dysfunctional kinda way. And then Lynette's "Run, boys!" was funny too. I liked her little look of victory when the boys finally buckled up. Hee.
Bree (shouldn't it be "Bri" as in "Briane"?)
I believe this has been mentioned before but "Bree" is an actual full name. Not short for anything.
I LOVED how the loose button mesmerized her. MC kicks ass.
Okey, I totally want Susan and Mike to hook up now. And with every episode I watch, I feel my Radio Shack Hate slowly dissolving away. I'm learning to adore TH now. I loved how Julie stood up for her mom. I suspect Edie's a very easy target when it comes to subjects like ex-husbands/boyfriends/flings.
Mrs. Huber got some great one-liners in there about Edie. My favourite? "Edie's a beggar now, she can't afford to be a chooser. (Takes out a fugly item from Lynette's box of clothes.) Well, we don't have to rub salt into her wound." Hee.
Gabby and John sure bring the pretty to their scenes. I'm glad they're giving her more layers to her personality now. The golddigger persona would've gotten old real fast.
Edie and her ever-ascending eyebrows scare me. *shudder*

I think when the Mr. Young threw it in the water, it was wrapped in plastic with duct tape and then it surfaced without it. He may have placed some type of weight in the plastic which then came loose somehow at the bottom. Which then begs the question of putting the weight in the trunk itself.

I hate Edie with a passion. Even more than Janice from The Sopranos.
Love Teri Hatcher and the mom of the three kids (I forget her character's name). I was pretty sure she was going to get herself arrested. Man, are her kids horrible or what?
In the final montage, I saw a stack of money, a gun and a map of the neighborhood with marks and pictures stuck on it. WTF is that about? Tell me now, goddamit. I can't wait another week.

ABC has quite the talent to run sure things to the ground, they're already starting with Desperate Housewives. Not only is there already a GMA tie-in and an Oprah interview, but they're also starting to tailor the damn promos for other shows around DH. (Boston Legal's promo went "Desperate intrigue, Desperate suspense, Desperate Emmy-award winning actors ect"). Desperate indeed.
That said, I loved the episode. None of the storylines really dragged, and I especially loved how Bree won over the marriage councilor with some sewing and a rant about Freud. And the scene with Lynette's kids attacking the concerned mother. And Susan's daughter reparte with Edie. Oh hell I loved it all.
My only two complaints about the pilot was the over-doing of the narriation by Mary Alice and the transparancy of Gabrielle's storyline. I think this episode made both housewives fit much more organically part of the show. The bit where Brenda Strong talked about the marriage councilor's different patients, culminating with the old woman wacking the man with the box of tissues had me rolling.
Can't wait until next week.

Since the son is old enough to remember "the sound of family secrets" that fits with the trunk use - he was probably 6 or so when he outgrew the teddy-bear trunk, then if Mr & Mrs Mary Alice are like Mr & Mrs daki, it sat in the garage holding old half-broken gardening equipment for a year or so until (dun dun DUN!) a new and better use became apparent. So Mary Alice Jr. was 7 or 8, old enough to remember but not to have understood, when the teddy bears were displaced with Mystery Item X.
Not that I'm becoming obsessed or anything, either.
The map - looked like that was on the other side of the wall from the kitchen, and I found the stash of cash interesting, too. It was of Wisteria Dr & had pics of most every resident, it looked like, with various bold red notes about them that I couldn't catch.

The funny things is,while the mystery element is interesting, I wouldnt care if it wasn't there. The show is good on its own merits and really doesnt need that.
I think im going to have a nightmare featuring Nicolette chest tonight. That was a hideous sight in the shirt she had on at the dinner table. Cover that chest up women.
Mrs. Kravitz is annoying so much. I hate overly nosey characters. But i love how she makes fun of people but masks it in with a polite statement.
I think Edie's husband is doomed to never be able to get a divorce. He the male Mrs. Soprano, but the people involved wont exactly fear death at the hands of Edie but she will always find away to verbally win over anyone against her.

These girls in a way remind me of the girls from Sex and The City, but they are no where near as tedious and self serving..
Susan: Reminds me of the Carrie of the show, except she's amusing, doesn't think she's the greatest thing going and actually has a brain, but still gets herself into amusing and ditzy situations. Terri Hatcher's facial expressions are priceless and I love her relationship with her daughter. The outfit she was wearing to dinner with Mike....not good though!
Bree: She's so the Charlotte of the group, perfect with her pearls and her morals, but Marcia Cross is wonderful as her. I find myself sympathizing with her more than her husband who I hate. I think Bree is fascinating and I can't wait to see more happen with her.
Gabriella: Eva Longoria was admitedly bad last week, but much improved this week. She's so the Samantha of the group with her love for sex and expensive things, but there is so much more depth to her. I think her and her husband could have a good relationship deep down if they worked it out, but I do enjoy her getting it on with yummy Jesse Metcalfe who is so much better here than on Passions.
Lynette: She's the Miranda of the group, she's a no screwing around with me kind of chick, I love her with her kids, and she's so sarcastic it's fabulous. I love love Felicity Hoffman.
Edie: She's just well there and is so nasty....her butt looked awful strange in those shorts.

A single rose. I'm humming the theme to Beauty and The Beast. And the poor kid's gonna have his heart broken, but Gloria knows she's gonna break his heart and is sorry about it. That's the sort of thing that makes this show different.
That's the word that defines this show to me: different. Not really a sitcom. Not quite a mystery. Not really a drama, but has its serious moments. And I agree -- it ain't easy to keep the balance between so many characters, but they're doing a great job.

Oh man so many good highlights from tonight's episode. My friends and I were dying and we watched it with one of our friend's boyfriend who's visiting and he thought it was hysterical and said he's going to watch it again. Yay for more viewers! Gaby and John are so, so hot together. And I felt bad for hot John when he saw her going all crazy over her husband and the new car. I heart Marcia Cross, and the scenes with the therapist were priceless mostly because of Bree's facial gestures were hilarious. I would have left those basterds on the curb, but I did find it cute that the boys stood up for their mom, all this of course while I was falling off the bed laughing. Tonight cemented my newly found Teri Hatcher Love. She rocked this episode, and her face when she realized her earring had been swallowed by the dog...priceless. That narration was awesome tonight, and by awesome I mean it didn't get on my nerves one bit. Oh man, it's only the second episode but it feels like I've been watching this show forever! The Mystery Box reminded me of child/baby coffin...creepy!

"Followup ASAP" was written on the Post-It above the pictures of Susan and her daughter, but that's all I could really make out.
That purple and green outfit Susan wore to dinner at Mike's was hideous! Someone should start a fashion/hair thread! I would, but I can't think of a cute title for it.
One thing that bugged me...I guess it's just a continuity error, but when the nosy neighbor dropped by Susan's house, Susan's daughter (Julie?) said that she was at the Van De Kamp's, but Bree was at counseling, and then in the next scene Susan and Gabby had apparently been out doing some shopping.

True. I still don't see the need to dig it up, I thought it was pretty safe underneath their pool.
Worst case scenario, the pool is drained (search warrant) and someone starts to dig underneath and they find the trunk on their property which may have been a crime scene. Getting the evidence away from their house he probably thought was a good idea.
