Ever wonder how on earth the Smallville stylists have succeeded in making Tom Welling look almost ugly this season? Whose idea was all that pink in the first place? Chloe's style: dig it, or just plain don't get it? Well now we have a whole thread just for us shallow fashion obsessed people!
Also, this is good thread to ask people who know a lot about online shopping things like: where can I find that red tank/bra thing Chloe was wearing last night? I Must. Have. It. Oh, and I'm really asking, just so we're clear... ;)

I just want to say I'm so looking forward to TW's red speedos in next week's episode, although how it looks will depend on whether the kryptonite bath is hot or cold, huh? Also, will MR have on speedos, too?
And I can't wait for TW's hair to grow back out, so I can stop crying myself to sleep every night.

I was at the mall the other day - walked into a store and had to run out screaming "OMG this is where she gets her clothes!" The entire store was Pink/White/Blue/Yellow pastel colors.
Fashion industry at fault for killing our eyes regarding all things Pink.

I know, I like to watch those in SloMo. He looked the best as Red!Clark, with long, curly hair and sideburns. But I think they like to keep it shorter to make him look younger.
But the Legacy Haircut was going too far. It broke my heart watching him give his best performance in 3 seasons - and looking like a doofus. Pitiful. No more Supercuts, Tom!

Does anyone else find themselves horrorfied at the possession of Smallville's less then satorial(is that the proper spelling?) splendor in their closet? I just found out I possess an almost complete collection of Clark Kent Flannel Shirts and it sort of scares me.(well, i am just working the alliteration- ha, an English Major is not entirely useless)

I think he had on that tablecloth shirt in the beginning and something else later. I admit to not really looking very closely at him ever since they started messing up his hair so much. Someone once called it the "Shirley Feeney" hair, which makes me laugh, but it's so true. They're probably trying to make him look younger but I don't think it works.
I hated pink even before Lana started wearing it and I hate it more now. Pink is the big new fashion color this season but I refuse to buy or wear any of it. Aside from one headband I wore as an experiment to see if it would give me Lana-like powers of people worshipping me.

Pink is one of my favorite colors... please don't hurt me....
But I hate the way Lana wears, though I liked one of her pink tops ( can't remember which.) I love especially Chloe's style, I dress a lot like her most of the time... yep, it looks weird sometimes, but Chloe's an original !
I agree about Clark's hair... it looked so good at the beginning of the season. I have such a huge crush on Bad Clark.

The more i think about it, the less I understand why they make Clark look so dorky. There is no mistaking Tom Welling for a 17 year old so I don't think they should even try. So just give up the bad hair and the huge, shapeless shirts and jackets. This is the WB. We don't expect these people to look like kids, except for Lana who often looks 12.
Airisu
Apr 22, 2004 @ 10:29 pm
I think Clark looked the best in the first half of S1 with the slightly longer, side-swept hair. The shapeless jackets definitely have to go though. I liked the beige/brown one he was wearing in Hourglass though. Guy really needs to wear less plaid. And more tight white shirts. Preferably soaked. :P
Pink on Lana is such a cliche. I actually do think the pink is a pretty versatile color that usually looks good on most people, but they just go OTT on KK with the all-pink-all-the-time color scheme. She looked the best in dresses like the v. pretty emerald green one in Heat and that purply-pink-beige one in Exile. It just occurs to me that they were both for Lex's wedddings. Maybe Lex brings out the fashionista in Lana?
ETA: Horseplay, I vaguely recall her having a pair of pinky-beige jeans before, but can't remember which episode. Or what else she was wearing with it. Black is almost always universally flattering, but I don't think it quite does much for Lana - to me it tends to make her complexion a little sallow sometimes. I think white would be better. That beigey-pin-stripe jacket she had in Crush was also quite nice. In any case, inject something other than Pink into her please~!
HorsePlay
Apr 22, 2004 @ 10:35 pm
I remember thinking she looked nice in her black dress at Lex's funeral. I think you're right, maybe Lex does bring out the good fashion sense in Lana. She looked nice in some black tank top she wore in Magnetic, I think. It's a much better color on her than pink.
When they dress Lana in that long pink coat, it's way too much. I can't remember, but did she once have a pair of pink jeans?

Eek. Don't hate me, but when Smallville first started, I used to take some of my fashion cues from Lana.
I have her same body type and hair color! I couldn't help it! I was weak! Before I lopped off all my hair, I used to try and do the half-up-in-a-butterfly-clip thing with my hair and I also tried to put it in that signature Lana-Lang-messy-updo with only mediocre results.
Luckily, I'm not insane anymore and don't wear as much pink as Lana. However, I tend to want to buy the other tops she wears. Arg.

Apr 22, 2004 @ 11:30 pm
The problem isn't with pink, necessarily, but the shades of pink Lana is made to wear. KK would look good in stronger pinks, fuchsias and deeper, purplish shades, but instead costume drapes her in these baby-pale pink outifts that clash with her skin color (which is also close to my own) and that are designed for twelve year-olds (e.g., that pink peacoat) in order to emphasize her "innocence" or her "perfect femininity" or WTF-ever.
I love Lex Luthor and his designer duds, but it would be nice to see him in something else. Since someone mentioned on the MR thread that he can break-dance, I've been imagining Lex in turtle-shelled Adidas and a big clock necklace doing the electric boogaloo. Hmm, actually, that is pretty wrong.

So, on top of making Clark's hair uber dorky this season, they really can't seem to let go of the plaid, either... I mean, in the last two seasons, though he was almost always dressed in anvilicious primary colours, he at least seemed to own a few sweaters and t-shirts. Now poor Clark seems stuck in the farmer look day after day. You can definitely count me in as one of the people who miss the "Kal" look.
They also need to have Lex do to clubs more so he can wear sexy black leather, and not tame clubs like in Zero.

I do wish Tom's hair would grow back out. It's so thick and luxurious I can just imagine how it would feel to run my fingers through it...uh, sorry.
I do think it's their attempt to make him look younger but day-um he is FINE with longer hair.
And remember how good he looked in Red when he was dressed in the cashmere long coat and great clothing patterned on his "big brother's" style of dressing?
(Wiping drool from my face.)
As for Pink...HATE IT!!!
Yeah, and how about letting Sam show what he's got? If the Pink is leaving for a couple of eps maybe we get more Pete huh?
As for Sexy Lexy, he's just fine in my book. His clothes suit him and make him sooo sexy sexy.
I'm glad they finally let you see that AM has a nice body once again. They did it in S1 for a minute or two then stopped. The whole jeans outfit (loved the belt) and of course the Chloevage brought her front and center so to speak. I hope they let Chloe step out of the Stevie Nicks School of Fashion and into a more modern teenage/young adult style of dress.

There is nothing wrong with a little pink here and there, IMHO. It's all about moderation. But whenever Lana is dressed like Little Pink Riding Hood from head to toe, I want to barf. You're not five anymore, Blahna! Besides, as many of you have pointed out, KK does look much better in more vibrant colours or in black than she does in pastels.

A little pink is ok. But her PDA, her bedroom, her make-up and 90% of her clothes is too much! I was surprised her car was not pink too.
The ironic thing is that Chloe would look great in pinks and pale blues. Lana's the one who needs to wear the browns and olives and deep rusty reds, imo.
The biggest improvement in wardrobe has been Lex. In season one his clothes were so. damn. baggy. And never tucking in his shirts. Then it was like someone realized hey this guy is pretty hot, let's tailor his clothes more! Show off that little butt!

I really think they need to cut down on the grease in Lionel's hair unless they can claim it's a side effect from the liver disease. I heard he might be bald for a future episode Otherwise, I like Lionel's sense of style though am sad that I will probably never get to see him exercise on a treadmill again with a tight black top. Yeah, I like Luthor excercising.
They've slightly cut down on the pink for Lana but they need to cut down some more. They should dress her like they dress in her those glamour shots or her casual pics where she's not in pink. Heck, the actress even says she's not uberfond of the color, according to Omar.
Lex usually dresses the best. While I like black, grey and purple for him, I do love those red tops. Yum! Chloe runs the gamut from good to huh? Sometimes I think they stuff her in some meh sweaters/coats and a few of the tops are also meh. In general, her fashion doesn't bother me, though.
Her hair has done the most change. I was actually OK with her hair in Exile but loved it best in Perry. I'd love to see her hair like that all the time.
Clark needs to do more T-shirts, and regular shirts. I'd like to see him in green more, he's pretty in green. His hair needs to be left alone.
I don't usually notice Jonathan or Martha's clothing so I guess they're OK.

Hee. So true. I think Lionel's hair looked the best during the flashblack in

So, I know I'm in the minority here, but I approve of shorter haircuts for Tom Welling. His bone structure is so perfect, he just doesn't need anything around his face to distract from those chiseled features.
I thought the best he has EVER looked was in the 50s-flashback episode. TW usually doesn't do much for me, but seeing him with his hair slicked back and wearing muscle shirts was like an absolute transformation. I had my mouth hanging open for the entire episode. I just could not get over how hot he looked. So I'm firmly of the opinion that they need to keep his hair away from his face.
Oh, and Chloe looked aMAZing in her black trenchcoat in "Truth." More CatBurglar!Chloe, pleeeeaaasse!

Chloe looked amazing all through the episode, though the black trench was particularly awesome. (I want one too!) And I have to mention again, because it cannot be said enough, that Alison Mack rocks the red camisole big time. Chloe far, far, far outshines Lana (with her headbands and pale pinks) for hotness.

There really needs to be more evdence of hedonism from Lex... he's still young, we should see him clubbing or having wild parties where he gets to wear tight leather. I guess he's too busy trying to overthrow his father and survive though.

This show has given me a major aversion to pink...I never liked it that much in the first place, but recently upon cleaning out my wardrobe, I realized I had thrown out anything even remotely close to pink. Well, I'm sure the Salvation Army will find some poor Lana-look-alike that can use it.

I know, I know, you're right. But usually on TV, they ignore realism in favor of flattery for the actor. Normally I promote realism, but AoT is a hot woman and I'd like to see her in some more flattering clothes once in a while. At least let her and Jonathon go out to dinner sometime and let her show off her incredible figure. I remember one ep (can't remember which one) where she and Jonathon went into Metropolis for their anniversary and Clark had a party. I don't even remember what she was wearing, which means it was kind of nondescript. You'd think they'd take any opportunity to show her off. :)
