according to that article, the fans were more interested in the marriage dynamic than Jessica's actual singing.
If the marriage is what interests people, thats fine, I really don't have a problem with it if that is what they want. But I have read numerous articles where Jessica makes some very snide comments about how she is all "about the music" whereas "other artists" (i.e. Britney) use gimicks like their bodies or sex to sell their albums. Jessica is just so blatantly hypocritical is what irritates the piss out of me.

The "Variety Hour" is on now. While Jessica was singing with Jewel, they had a side view of each of them. Jessica's nose is almost as big as Jewel, and that's saying alot. The only thing I found funny was the "Nick LaShave" skit.

I haven't seen any books in their house, but then, I love to watch "Cribs" and I've noticed that you don't often see books in those houses either. It's like, maybe 20% of the home tours show a room with even a few coffeetable books or a bookshelf in an office.

Ditto to those who think Casey has the hots for Nick. If you watch her closely you'll see that she directs her conversation towards him, continually faces him, glances at him, picks on him, playfully orders him around, pretends to be a bother (fishing for reassurance?), etc. If Nick is in the vacinity her focus is primarily on him.
Also, I think Nick knows Casey is flirting with him and he's uncomfortable.
I know I'm too old to even be watching this show but I must say Nick impresses me. There's not one episode where he's not doing something 'normal', i.e., cleaning something, moving something, paying bills, vacuuming, etc. while Jessica sits on her lazy hump. He's such a 'regular good guy' and I find that endearing.

Absolutely. He's being an ass because he knows he's in a bad spot.
He hates spending money.
His wife is essentially burning it by hiring her useless good friend to do nothing.
The "good friend" is freeloading and openly hitting on Nick in front of Jessica.
Nick can't argue this point to Jessica because she's clueless and doesn't see it.
Nick can't fire Casey without incurring his wife's wrath.
Nick isn't immune to Casey's charms.
All he can do is act out and hope it gets the woman out of his house, if not his life.

I suspect that
nothing about Casey appeals to Nick. He's just uncomfortable about the entire situation, and trying desperately to "be nice" for Jess' sake.
And I'm not sure she has a crush on Nick, but she's enjoying the eye-candy that is Nick. While Casey and Jess are both no-class trash, I'm not so sure that she's flirting with her best friend's husband. She's just too-inside Nick and Jess' personal space for their emotional comfort. And, she's an idiot.
What could Jess do to get kicked out of a club? Get totally potted? Or just be her bratty-self and expect to be treated as a "celebrity"? I can see the latter....wanting a better table, demanding people be shush't away, or something else stupid. Her Black AmEx got rejected? Hehehehehehehehh.

I usually like Nick, but I haven't liked the way he's treated KC. Yes she's annoying, but she's a guest. If he doesn't want her in the house he needs to say that, not try to annoy her into leaving. She's a professional and his amature annoying skills will never be able to compete.
He knows Jessucka can't follow a simple thought, so don't hint to her and hope she comprehends and can then pass along your message. Come right out and say it to KC. Monday morning gather KC and Jessuka together (they'll be on the couch) and say "It's been great having you here KC but I think it's time you found your own place. Let's see if we can find something this week." Heck he could afford to hire someone to find someplace for her.

You are so right. I was thinking he should have flung it at her but right up her ass would have been much more appropriate.
I have no problem with the way Nick treats Casey. Guest my ass. She has been there for six months. And she has plenty of smart remarks too.
Apparently she has no problem with it either. Because she certainly could get up off of her ass while she is lounging at the pool with N&J and popping Jessica's blood blisters and commenting on Nick's facial expressions to find a fucking apartment. Nevermind that she could have looked for a place before she moved to California.

There have been numerous reports that Jessica's concert has been a real let down as far as her vocals go. Many reviewers have been saying (like we do here) that she is all about the physical flailing and facial contortions but her voice just is not measuring up. Also, she seems to be using her concert as a platform for her "wiat-until-you're-married" mantra. Apparently, she takes all kinds of time to talk about how to find your "Prince Charming" to the young girls in the audience instead of, you know, singing.
Her days are so numbered.
I have read a number of the reviews and it has been the complete opposite. Her vocals have been praised but her stage presence and material have been criticized. Especially her material. Never read anything about the facial contortions.
I have also read that her tour has not been selling well. Smaller venues such as Radio City and others have sold out and done well but the 15,000+ arenas have not. Norah Jones and others are having this same problem.

I'm far too lazy to go back and look, but in the last month someone posted a link to a review about her concert that did comment on her contortionism and lack of singing talent.
We're getting different episodes here than what you're speaking about, but I just saw her on the skiing trip and heard her stupid expression 'oh my gaw' for the first and several times after.
Obviously she thinks by cutting off the last consonant, no one would realize that she's actually saying 'oh my God', which obviously is frowned upon for her. Just SAY it if that's what you want to say.
Speaking of frowning, that girl is going to have major wrinkle problems. Her forehead already looks really deeply lined. Between frowning in consternation and looking shocked and surprised at each new bit of everyday knowledge, she's heading for botox fast.

OK, I saw the preview for what I think is next week's new ep, the one where Jessica and a friend (maybe it's KC, I'm not sure) are dodging the paprazzi in her car, etc. I don't know if I will even be able to bring myself to watch it. I get so, so annoyed about celebrities who whine constantly about the paparazzi. I mean, I agree it would be frustrating, and I'm not saying the photogs don't go too far at times. But, unfortunately, that is one of the prices of fame.
I just want to say to Jessica (and others) look at that fancy mansion you've got, all the toys, enough money to basically do whatever you want. You've got your own TV show. Those things don't come cheap, you know. You may think you're earning these things by "singing" or "acting" or whatever, but as I see it, the real price is dealing with the media. I don't feel sympathetic. If you hadn't wanted this you should have known better than to get involved in the first place. Especially when you put yourself out there all over the media, you're just asking for it. I do have a bit more sympathy for celebs who attempt to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible but are still harassed. But really, when you're basically making your living by letting cameras follow you everywhere and put your image all over the place, you're just asking for this kind of thing. It's a natural evolution, you brought it on yourself, you're being paid quite handsomely for it, so SHUT IT!!

I heard "Angels" on the radio a few nights ago. I've never heard the Robbie Williams' version. In fact, I'm not even sure if I know who he is. Anyway, I thought the lyrics were beautifull but Jessica's singing sucked. Someday, I'll try to find the song sung by a better singer.
If anybody knows anything about singing, I was wondering if it's possible Jessica has already damaged her voice? It's been a long time since I've heard her sing well. She sounds rough. Her notes always sound hoarse to me. I know she had a vocal coach when she was younger but maybe she decided to ignore her advice or has gotten into some bad habbits.
The reason why I ask is because I remember her being able to sing far better than she currently sings. I've watched old footage from her younger days and she seemed to be able to hold her notes far better than she does now. She seemed to actually be able to sing them as opposed to yell them.

This Wednesday's episode is going to be so funny. Now Jessucka will understand how having lots of fame make you vulnerable to paparazzi. I mean, if she wanted fame, she shouldn't have to feel PO'd that all those photographers are surrounding her.
And I also watched the Jewel performance on that wannabe Sonny-and-Cher copy of their variety show. Jessucka looked like she was having acid reflux while singing "Who Will Save Your Soul?" I don't know what Jewel was thinking singing with someone who looks like she's having seizures every time she sings. Jessucka is not even as talented as Jewel.
By the way, her version of "Angels" sucks major donkey tail. I've never heard Robbie's, but from what I have heard from other people, Jessucka's version is manure compared to Robbie's better version.

I know we've talked about this over and over, but I just need to get this off my chest.
When you are a guest at someone's house, you don't treat it like a hotel. If you want to be primped and pampered, then stay at a hotel.
When I go to my aunt's house, even though she's wealthy and has a maid, I still do a lot of work. My bed is made, my clothes and bathroom supplies and neatly put away. My mom helps her cook, I help out with dishes and cleaning the kitchen. My dad works with them, as do my brother and sister. And that is probably why, after 25 years, we are still as welcome there as we were on day one, (not counting that we are also family and really close and enjoy each other's company and all the other mushy family stuff).
I hope that Nick decides to venture out into another profession. It doesn't look like his singing career is going to last, and who knows how long Jessica will. If he's a smart guy, then maybe he can work in the law or financial industry. There are jobs there that are more low-key, so that his reputation doesn't have to precede him ... and, if he's willing to work like a dog for 5-10 years, he'll probably be back at a level on income that will quite substantial... and probably more than he's making now. Go back to school Nick! You can use your singing career to get into a good school, and if you work hard, you can get into a good law school/MBA program. Heck, you can even do the joint J.D./MBA one if you are smart enough! 30 might be old, but others have done it, so hopefully he can too.
As for Nick having the affair ... I think he's still hot and well-known enough to have an affair with a model, why would he throw it away on Casey? (agree, can't spell her name the silly way ... unless that's on her original birth certificate)

Are you serious? For awhile there it seemed like I couldn't turn on my radio without having it playing on 3 different stations at the same time. I thought it was an OK song but it got to the point where I was seriously contemplating shooting my radio if I heard it one more time. After they started playing it less often, I liked it again.
With Jessica's version, however, I only needed to hear it once and I wanted to shoot my radio.

If anybody knows anything about singing, I was wondering if it's possible Jessica has already damaged her voice?
Absolutely. She's not singing properly and the more she does it, the more damage she will do. Yelling instead of singing will only harm her vocal cords. What she really should be doing is practicing for several hours at least per week, with a vocal coach who knows how to bring out good tones and can reign in her tendency to screech. It's possible she is practicing and they aren't showing us but I doubt it. All the flailing around she does only makes things worse. The more you move around, the harder it is to hit the right notes.

I know! The best part of the previews was when Jessica has her head down on the steering wheel and Casey has her head down and is trying to cover her face with her hand like
she's the one the paparazzi is after! Heh.
Why isn't Casey driving the car? Does she not perform
any of her PA duties? I don't know what she's complaining about, she has free rent/food/electricity/water AND gets paid for doing nothing. I mean, my 3 month old nephew could do all that and be a lot less annoying than her.
God, I have no idea why I am admitting this, but I, like Jessie, had an incident with my eyelash curler -- and 1/2 my lashes broke off. And yes, they grew back.
ReplaceMan, did your eyelashes grow back longer then they were before? I know it's a stupid question, but I swear my mom, aunts, and grandmother have always told me that when you cut your eyelashes when you're child they'll become longer and thicker. I've never been gutsy enough to cut my own eyelashes, but I once contemplated cutting my cousins eyelashes when I was 13, in the end I couldn't do it, I was too afraid to poke her eyes out.

Just to add on to what Vermicious Knid said, there is also a chance that her voice has changed. I speak from experience on this one, I sang for years (won competitions and such, not just crappy karioke(sp?) singing)and then when I was about 15-16 my voice started changing, by age 20 I couldnt carry a tune in a bucket. I sound awful now(age 28), her voice may have changed as well as been damaged by the theatrics of her performances now, remember we had at least 2-3 years since the last record she put out.
I maintain that the voice changing is what happened to Britney as well, when she was young she had a strong voice, strong enough to be on Broadway, but as she got older her voice has morphed into the weak whisper we hear today.

There ought to be some sort of law (surely there's at least an unwritten one) about someone taking a song that isn't that old, done by someone, and trying to remake it into their own. There's tons of songs out there, surely she could find one that isn't so recent as that one.

I hope that Nick decides to venture out into another profession.... Go back to school, Nick!
I read months ago that, pre-98 Degrees, Nick had started college and was going to study sports medicine. Then Drew suggested they start a boy band, and Nick left school to give it a shot. With the good universities all around him, and plenty of money to pay for education, I keep hoping that Nick will return to sports medicine (if that was indeed a true story), and maybe do some studio/production work on the side. I realize that he's only 30 and can "afford" to relax a bit and try to figure out his next move. Maybe he would be embarrassed to go to school when he's so famous, but really, who wouldn't think it was a smart and cool move? And if someone gave him flack for it, he's certainly man enough to take it.
Edited for clarity.

I remember a different story, it was Nick that asked Drew to leave his current job to join the band. I heard (from an interview of theirs) they needed one more guy and since Drew knew how to sing Nick asked him to join. I think Drew's job at that time was an EMT or something, one of those ambulance guys.
