When I got my wedding band, I coveted a big fancy one with diamonds and stuff, but I wound up getting a plain band because I wanted to make sure I could wear it 24/7 (I work in clay a lot and I swim daily). Maybe for an anniversary or something I'll get a snazzier one, but I wanted to have one that I didn't need to take off for ANYTHING.

Plus, I remember Jessica CONSTANTLY wearing her rings on the first season, even when they were in the pool and stuff. Clearly, there's more behind her taking them off than forgetting them.

She probably feels that her wedding band will interfere with her new "sexy", slut image.

Do most people wear their wedding rings all the time? My parents never do.

tip and fall - I think most people do. I think the purpose of wearing your ring is to show that you are married and committed. But that is not to judge people that don't wear thier rings. If they never did and still dont its not wierd. But if I one day stopped wearing my ring, Maya-boy would definatly wonder why. I mean I have worn it non stop through 3.5 years of marrige and just to stop one day would be a bit suspisious. And Maya-boy wears his every day. I would wonder why if he just stopped wearing it one day.

I know a lot of people who don't, but considering they have only been married for a few years I find it odd. I have been married for close to a year and I wouldn't dream of not wearing my ring. I guess everyone is different, but I definetly think Jessica should probably be wearing hers right now, esp since she is so adamnant about convincing us she and Nick are so happily married.

Personally I think she uses her marriage however it serves her purpose --Newlyweds and the whole "how cute are Nick and Jessica" made her famous, and now that she is "sexy" she doesn't want her marriage dragging her down.

I don't think it's that odd to not wear a ring. But I think it's odd that someone like Jessica who likes to portray herself as being in the perfect marriage used to wear her ring, and now suddenly she's not wearing her ring, and at the same time she's hanging out in bars with men who aren't her husband, and at a time when there's plenty of speculation about the state of the marriage.

But I agree with whoever else said that she may be doing all of this just for attention. Without the state-of-the-marriage speculation, no one would be talking about her. And I think she's the type that thinks negative publicity is better than no publicity. Her father probably advised her to stop wearing her ring to keep people talking.

Yeah I agree that the only thing she has going for her right now publicity-wise is the state of her marriage. The Dukes of Hazzard crap is over with (thank God) and they ended Newlyweds. At this point I wouldn't be suprised if she started some new reality show, about her next album or something. She is totally falling off of the radar. YAY:)

Call me shallow, but I love her wedding ring. I would never take it off.

Especially if there were rumors about my marriage swirling around. And if my father had been on ET or the Insider or Current Affair (whatever) telling everyone that they are talking to BIG TIME lawyers about the rumors of my divorce, it would stay on my finger ALL THE TIME!

When I take my wedding ring off, I'm no less married. I do wear it everyday, but I always take all my jewelry off whenever I do something like sleep or dishes or cook or whatever.

Not that I'm defending Jessica, I can't stand her, her music, her acting, anything. And I think she has always sucked.

I just don't think her marriage is over because she's not wearing a ring. I think it's over because it's been a big sham publicity stunt. :)

I was only married for nine months and I've been divorced for almost a year and I still feel naked without my wedding set. It's something you don't forget if you're a daily wearer - which we all know she did from season one.

tip and fall, my parents are from India. The ring was for engagement, and not for marriage. Men usually don't wear a ring, since there the rings are worn more for balancing your elements type of thing (you wear certain stones on certain fingers). So, my dad, who isn't a jewelry person at all, still doesn't wear a ring. My mom usually wears her thin gold engagement band though. But in no way is the marriage not sacred, or very respected between them.

But in America, and in Hollywood, things are different. If you complain, like she does, about tabloid speculation, then you may have to go the extra step to prove it. Not wearing the ring and grocery shopping ... excusable. Not wearing the ring, and at a larger event with definite photographers (not just paparazzi) ... that obviously is going to lead to speculation and rumors.

It's your choice whether or not to wear one, but I don't see articles about Nick without the ring, and as mentioned, the rings were very prominently featured in the first season of Newlyweds. But I guess that was a way for her to show off being married... hehehehe.

If it's such a problem, or if her diamond isn't as comfortable, why not invest in a simple, plain,platinum ring? That way, you can leave that on for everything, not have to worry about your diamonds, and boom, no more speculation. :)

Which is exactly what she wants. She can "complain" about the tabloid speculation all day long but it keeps her name in magazines which earns her free publicity. Heck, her publicist has likely demanded she leave the ring at home...

Thanks for the different opinions. My parents (Asian, married for 20+ years) don't fit into the Hollywood mindset, so that might be it. Heh.

Like said above....the marriage is dunzo because it as all crap, not because if the ring. But I do find it odd that her sucess came from her marriage and now she "forgets" to wear that symbol of said marriage.

Also, whenever I stay at a hotel I NEVER leave my jewelry in the room. I hope Jessica isn't really dumb enough to leave a 5 karat rock on the nightstand. It is probably in her drawer where she throws ALL the bobbles Nick has given her.

I don't think their marriage is over because Jessica's not wearing a ring, but it does surprise me when she goes out without one. Every time she doesn't wear the ring, the rumors fly, and it's all in the tabloids by the next morning. Nick and Jess are always complaining about the constant divorce rumors, but they indirectly start most of them. You'd think Jessica would start wearing her ring by now.

But I suppose that's just the brilliance of Jessica Simpson, though.

According to a poster in the Music Videos thread her next album is going to be hip-hop. She's busy with a producer now, some poor flunky has the job of finding songs for her to cover, and the record company considers her a joke. I won't cross post it but the info is there if you want to look.

If she does go hip-hop, it will complete her evolution from virginal family values singer to sex-oriented skank ho.

That's what I'm saying, though. She doesn't wear the ring so she can get the articles in the tabloids started. The tabloids go on about possible divorce rumors, thus validating her actions. Then she and Nick complain about the divorce rumors, leading to more our-marriage-is-perfectly-happy-blah-blah-blah panderpieces. And once the attention starts to die down, she shows up in the tabloids again, sans ring and occasionally with some random guy in a bar. It's a constant cycle. . . honestly, how many times in the last two and a half years has this same crap been repeated? Any guesses?

I agree that this marriage is probably in the toilet, but I don't think the ring is indicative of anything. I adore my husband and half the time don't remember to put mine on when I go out.

On a superficial note, I think it's sad that she's such a pretty girl naturally but in making her "imporvements" she's aging at the rate of elderly dogs. And what is with the hair color for both Jessica and Brittney? If you have a mousy brown there's nothing wrong with brightening it up or going lighter - but they have the brassy bleached look that people get when they over-color themselves. You'd think they could use some of the money the world throws at them to stay away from the Joan Rivers look.

Jessica was on my plane from NY (JFK) to LA on Wednesday. She was in first class with her hairdresser (Ken Paves), CaCee and someone else (not Nick) I didn't recognize. I didn't get a good look because I was walking off the plane when I saw her and on the phone trying to resolve a work matter, so I don't know if she was wearing her ring.

Time for your weekly DoH update. Bizarrely, it jumps up 3 spots to #22 and back onto a total of 467 screens. But. The per screen average falls to $819. I'm guessing it's been shoved off first run screens most everywhere and dumped into a bunch of dollar theaters, hence the expansion and drop in dollars at the same time. Still hasn't quite been able to eke out $80 million but will probably make it this week. Overseas gross of $20.3 million. So worldwide about $100 million. Too bad it didn't crash and burn like we all hoped but the best it will do is barely break even, so at least not a big hit.

E News showed Jessica attending Ashlee's birthday party this weekend - without Nick and without her wedding ring....

What I like about the cover is that they are saying she is to blame plus her dad. I always hated that they make Nick look like the bad guy... I personally think that both are to blame in one way or another but the media always seem to make her look like a saint.

Joe was in cahoots with US WEEKLY (which is why the magazine was always slanted towards Nick being at fault) but then jumped ship to the new OK! So now I guess US WEEKLY wants to screw over Joe and Jessica.

That would make sense. I wonder if it's actually true. . . they and their marriage have been in and out of the tabloids so much over the last few years it's sometimes hard to sift through the crap and figure out what has a nugget of truth in it and what doesn't.

I don't know whether or not it's true THIS TIME (I don't believe anything until it appears on E!Online ;p), but Ryan Seacrest announced it on the radio this morning. One thing he's actually pretty good about is saying "oh, here we go again, another rumor, blah blah blah", but the announcement had an air of certainty about it that made me go hmmm.

You can't trust it from E! thought because they reported it wrong before (a few months ago) and then retracted it. And E! will say they are splitting as per Us Weekly. So papa Joe, Jess, or Nick havent confirmed it yet. So I am waiting for that.

And now an OSU student is claiming they made out heavily after the Espn after party in his hotel room. She claims she stopped it because she knew he was married. I saw it on netscape I think.
