Get outta my head, Ashleigh's Mom! I instantly asked myself, "Did she borrow Ashlee's shirt?" when I saw that pic. Thanks for posting it, babysnark. That's funny stuff.
It's kinda sad that I jumped with glee when seeing the preview showing my two favorite words regarding this show: Series Finale. But then I remembered I won't be seeing the last of those two thanks to Nick and his "project". Thanks a bunch, Dick...er...Nick.
Eh. I must admit though, seeing Nick give Jess the tape of their engagement warmed my cold, snarky little heart. I even let an "Aw" escape me...

Thanks verucasalty for posting that letter. I was wondering what it said. I actually tried to post a request for it but the server ate my post.
Shit----It seems like Nick is always writing her these extremely loving notes in his cards to her, and she pretty much blows them off. Jokes about not being able to read them. This pisses me off about her. There aren't a whole lot of guys who will write some long love note in their cards, especially 6 or 7 years after getting together. She reads it and says that it's sweet, and that's pretty much it. Nick seems like a much more emotional person. I don't think we've ever seen her give him a card have we?
She did get on my nerves with the constant talk about the valentine he wore to the restaurant. Oh, and after rewatching it today, I heard Nick say they were leaving to eat at 130, so they would have missed the lunch rush.
I also noticed that when they watched the video of the engagement, he said it took place Feb 10th 2002. She said the bad Valentine's Day was three years ago, which was just a few days after the proposal. So that means she worked on his Valentine on the flight back from Hawaii. Was he with her on the plane while she made it? She "cried all night"? Lame.
I assume that the stress they've experienced the past two years has almost everything to do with the cameras. I think they've given up a lot on communication because they're trying to be a certain way in front of the cameras. I think they still have a chance now that the show's ending. But still...maybe there's a side of Jessica that she hides from the cameras, but I cannot understand why Nick says he's so in love with her and is so happy to be with her forever. She really seems to take him for granted. I scoffed at her saying they were both catches. Nick is, but her? Not so much.

Mar 27, 2005 @ 12:25 am
I think the VD she was referring to was prior to the engagement. She mentioned that she made it on the plane and he would not wear it when she met him. At least that is what I made of it.

Thanks, Veruca for posting Nick's message. I watched my tape again and I melt each time I see his face when he gives her the card. He has that patented Nick smile and he's glowing with love. You mean below right?
The fact that she doesn't realize what she has with Nick writing her these loving letters and trying to think of romantic things to do with/for her [like the engagement video for one] makes me sick. Most guys are nowhere near that romantic, at least in my experience.
Her behavior in the Valentine's episode made me want to scream. I officially hate her now. Her Valentine to him was really just a Valentine to herself.

Just saw the Leno tape.
Jessica was practically bragging about how well her movie was going to do. She just had that smirky and snooty look on her face when she said that it was expected to do so well, there is already talks about a sequel. I hope this is just another incident in which she and her family run their mouths about a something that just doesn't pan out. Lord knows she brags about herself enough as it is.

I decided to type the letter this time because you seem to have a little trouble with my handwriting. Let me start by saying how in love with you I am. Even after two years of marriage, every day just seems a little bit better than the one before. Well, most days I can't believe how we've grown together as a couple and as individuals. I know in my heart that if we keep each other first at all times, in spite of all the destructions and stress in our lives, we will win. There will always be challenges, struggles, fights, peace, and even anger to go along with the joy, success, contentment and satisfaction of being a great couple. I am so proud of the fact that we have made it through two of the most stressful years of our lives together. I'll always have your back and I know you'll always have mine. I look forward to the great things that I know we will achieve in the years to come. I look forward to growing old and grey with you. I look forward to watching our kids grow up and become great people. I look forward to spoiling our grandkids and watching them grow up. I look forward to enjoying the journey with you. All the things you achieve in life are made that much sweeter when you are able to share them with the love of your lives. I know I'm not a perfect man nor even close. But I hope you know that I'm trying to be the best man I can be for you and our family, the most important thing in my life. Because you are the important thing in my life. I love you with all that I am, every breath that I take. Happy Valentine's day
Nick"
*Swoons*. I'd go straight for that boy. But the whole sex-thing would grate me more than it does Jessica.
A side note: I felt guilt when I recently changed my obsession with Miller Lite for Michelob Ultra. I'm not kidding. I want to be Drew so I can have fun Drew/Nick time like they do..

Holy Fuck.
It's a fucking clip show.
With cheesey, fabricated filler in between. Dammit! Why didn't I expect this? Fuck you, CreePa
Okay..."You have a booger" made me laugh. And there have been one or two tiny new bits, but otherwise, I'm very unhappy - If I wanted to watch the Simpson-Lacheys "act", I'd dig up my copy of their variety shows....I mean, my SISTER's copy...yeah...
"I didn't know to have expectations when I got married" WTF does that even mean? She did admit what most of us have thought all along - she really did think marriage was just "Kiss your groom and live happily ever after". God. Moron.
These two dated for a couple years before they got married, right? How did they not know some of this basic stuff? Mr Hollers and I did long distance (because of school) for 3 years, and I would still have figured out if he was as rabid about sports as Nick is, and he already knew I was messy (but not as messy as Jess). So what gives? Is this like the Osbournes and their mind-fuck episode with Minnie, where I'm always going to wonder if ANY of what I saw on the show was real? (Haha...just saw the end, and I'll be damned if it wasn't just as fake as the Osbournes, but not nearly as well done. Fuck you twice, CreePa!!)
God, Jessica was SO much better looking when this show started, when she didn't mind being filmed in normal clothes (big tshirts and sweats or jeans) with no makeup and un-done hair. It only emphasizes how trampy and fake she looks lately.

I thought the whole thing was staged-- including the fact that they were "moving out". Seemed like a plot device: "We're moving out of the house so look at these pictures that's reminding me of when I thought tuna was chicken. And then in the end, we'll stay because we love each other so much." That "deal" they made was such a cliffhanger set up. Jessica: we can stay if you change the sports room into the nursery. Nick: Wha?! How soon?!
Dum dum duuuumm: stay tuned for our next phase...
I can totally see "Newlyweds II: Newlyparents". Arghhh!!! Please no footage of Jessica in the birthing room!!

I think a lot of this season was staged, especially any scenes done in the house. Some of those older clips were pretty funny, though. I never saw the one with Jess on the dolphin. That was hilarious.
There's a real contrast between the older shows and newer ones. Everything was more genuine in the beginning, and they were more relateable as people too. When Jess became this huge celebrity (or was portrayed as one anyway) the show started to suck.
That clip from last week they showed again where Nick brings Jessica upstairs is just wierd. He has this blank look on his face while he pats her butt and seems to look sideways at the cameras. Something about it makes me cringe.

This is exactly what I was coming here to say. The very disappointing clip show of last night reminded me why I liked the first season of this show. It seemed like they were actually trying to make an enjoyable show and they were more real back then. All those involved with this show became very lazy by season three, IMO.
I still can't believe I wasted a part of my life watching Jessica get her teeth worked on at the dentist. Of course, there was the rest of the time we got to see them spend their new found wealth. Woo! It's a good thing they ended the show because at the rate they were going next season we would have been forced to watch dust collect on their furniture.

I'm sorry to be annoying, but I completely forgot to watch the last ep last night. Doesn't sound like I missed much, but could someone fill me in? Was it just a clip show? Was there any new footage? Was it them narrating or having flashbacks or what?
I'm so glad this show is over. I really don't think Jessica's career will go anywhere once she is off the tv screen each week. Dukes of Hazzard is destined to blow - even if it does ok in the box office. I would bet any amount of money that she hoardes in on Nick's new show (and don't even get me started on that BS).

What movie is she in other than Dukes of Hazard?
The night before last, I was innocently watching my tv, and they played that Buffalo wing commercial that she and Ashlee did. It was funny to see after not seeing it for so long. It made me feel embarrassed for her. Ashlee's like Katherine Hepburn compared to Jessica. I can't believe she got any acting gig at all after that. Either the movies she in are just bad jokes of movies or she doesn't have any actual lines.
I missed last night. Did we find out why she's taken to dressing like it's 1995 and the height of the grunge movement?

DiVa, I disagree. I don't think it's a case of spite, or people "who have no lives" wanting everyone to be unhappy.
Not speaking for everyone, but I don't think of myself as malicious, or not having a life.
I just think that this particular woman is awful. A self-obsessed, bratty, entitled, spoiled, ignorant, materialistic, shallow-as-a-puddle charicature. I don't know how anyone could stand her, let alone deluge her with the positive reinforcement that is tons of money and attention/fascination.
In the broader picture, it's kind of scary. "The Social Significance of the Simpson Empire" (that could be the world's most depressing thesis paper!)
Maybe it is "hoping for a comeuppance" (to just to be reassured that there is such a thing as karma!), but not wishing ill-will on someone just because they're famous or whatever. That's not it.

After watching the marathon before the finale,I am DISGUSTED about how her poor dog looks. It looks so bad, and I know it is a white dog and all but it is not that hard to give a small dog a bath once in a while. It still looks as though it hasnt had a bath yet. She merely got it for an accesory. Yuck.

Mar 31, 2005 @ 2:21 pm
Cherry yes, but look how many ppl watch the show, it seems to me that she plays all the bratty, ignorant, spoiled attitude up for the cameras. For ratings. Maybe the famewhorish nature is taking over, but when comparing Season 1 to the last, it seems more like she's "acting". Don't get me wrong, I'm not on the Jessica luurve train, but I DO think they genuinely love each other, and I'm sure all the rumors, the cameras in their home, not to mention the creepy 'rents are putting a strain on the marriage. I know thats what you sign up for when you want to be famous, but I personally, would like to see them stay together and be happy. Just to spite all the naysayers. JMO
and to clarify- I meant the tabloids etc. about ppl w/ no live who hate to see anyone happy. If you have seen powergirls you see how rumors are planted and how brutal the press can be. I wasn't trying to bash, should've been more clear

In my opinion the first season of Newlyweds was the best. Even through I watched every single season there was, the first was when everything was new. Then they spend their time together, you could see that Jessica missed Nick when he wasn't around and they were just your average couple hanging out with Drew and Leah.
When the fame thing started from that first season, that's when everything changed. Her parents hanged around more often, Jessica was acting the dizzy role and then you had all those hanger ons, the hairdresser, CaCee, Nick's Frat friend and they barely spend time together and Jessica doesn't even seem to miss Nick now when she is apart from him. They should have stopped after Season 2 before it got out of control.

Superficial question: didn't one of our forum posters point out that when Nick's hair is wet or when it's not styled, it looks like it's thinning on top? Is it possible that we're seeing more baseball hats on him because he's vain and therefore embarassed that his hair is getting thin on top?
I'm so glad this series is over so that I can (someday) stop analyzing things like Nick's male pattern baldness.

Mar 31, 2005 @ 6:22 pm
Everything about that finale was staged, like Nick and Jessica standing awkwardly in their foyer. Jessica, "Nick, do you remember when we moved in and you insisted on doing everything yourself?" Cut to clips of Nick moving stuff and doing yardwork. Or the discussion about the $1,400 sheets. Don't they have any memories that didn't feature prominently in a past episode of the show? I always thought that maybe they did, but apparently not.
What struck me is that none of their "good memories" are even that good. Those vacations they took in the first couple of seasons didn't seem like that much fun at the time, and yet they're all, "It was the time of my life!"
