Heh, I always ask where the tree is from, because I like to buy the ones harvested closest to me, on the theory that they're fresher. They will spontaneously tell you that info though, in the tree spiel "this is a blue fir from Quebec, it has sparser branches than the douglas fir, but the needles don't drop off as much and yada yada..."

I dunno what the hell was going on, besides they wondered where the trees were from, as they are sitting on sidewalks, and they appear to have a thing about Nova Scotia.

I'm assuming it was an inside joke because Drew was cracking up everytime Nick was asked. What the joke was though, we'll never know. Darn.

You know, I'd never believe any of the rumors about Nick and Jessica breaking up and I especially blew off the ones about the Jessica-Knoxville pairing on the set of "Dukes of Hazzard", but watching the first part of the episode, I quickly changed my mind. Imagine my surprise while watching Jessica rummage through clothing in her closet when I realized that Jessica was wearing a H.I.M. sweatshirt complete with the heartogram on the back of it. There I am thinking to myself "Why the HELL would Jessica Simpson, of all people, be wearing a the sweatshirt of a virtually-unknown Goth Death Metal band from Scandanavia???" And then it hit me...

Now, first off, for those who never watched "Jackass", Johnny Knoxville and company are quite possibly the biggest fans of H.I.M. in America. Their music is regularly featured on Bam Margera's show and on all of the CKY DVD's. But other than that, H.I.M. have never really broke through in America. So it just seems really, really odd to me that a pop star like Jessica would be wearing that sweatshirt unless she and Knoxville had a much closer relationship as was reported in the tabloids..

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it just seems like a really odd thing to see. I would bet money that Jessica wouldn't be able to name a H.I.M. song if her life depended on it. Just seems very, very strange.

I always thought it was a Bam thing, not a Johnny thing, that was obsessed with H.I.M. And not to try and defend Jess, or disprove this theory, because I slightly believe it - but wasn't she packing to go start filming? So how many chances would she have had to get close to him before leaving?

Wardrobe: Did anyone else notice that when Jessica was packing for her trip and wearing this black vintagey t-shirt, Nick was also wearing a similar, long-sleeved version of her tee? (They were pretty similar shirts anyways). I remember last season (or it could have beenthe one before, honestly who cares) Nick and Jessica went to her "Sweetest Sin" vid shoot and they both wore sweatsuits on the same day. I know it's incredibly stupid sounding how I remember that, but the whole "couple wardrobe matching" makes me laugh.

In this week's IN TOUCH magazine, it says that Jessica didn't believe the rumors that Nick gave girls his number while at the ESPN party. However, when a journalist wrote the bit about printing his number to prove it, Jessica "crumbled." Now, that's a scene I wish they would include in their show.
The article said that Jessica called her dad of all people to freak out to when she read that. Anyone wish to guess what her father told her? You know, the man that didn't want her to get married in the first place. The man who was worried that her being married would ruin her career?
"He impressed upon her how important it was that she and Nick stay together."
How predictable. Once again, he is more worried about the state of her career and the money it may or not bring in, then her actual happiness. It would not surprise me one bit if he made her stay in an unhappy marriage for fear of her career fading. How sad!

Aw I thought it was cute. I'm alot like Isaac - if I go shopping with my mom she's always like Can I buy this for you? PLEASE? Let me get you SOMETHING! and I go for the cheapest thing possible because I hate people spending money on me.

I think the You Stink comments were just looped over and over again. A few of them sounded exactlyy the same and if you watch again, the camera is never on Jess's face when she says them. It's facing away from the camera or the exercise equipment or whatever. She totally didn't say it that many times. Just like when she was taking care of the baby and they had it "crying" everytime she held it, even though the camera never actually showed the baby. Those tricky editors!

is it me or is this marrige falling apart? i agree that nick has contempt. annoyance and disgust with jessica...they have all the material goods one can ask for but the relationship is quite shallow. they will probably stay together for a few years and when they are out to the limelight, divorce is inevitable. i hope they put off having children...

She was wearing the sweatshirt when she was decorating the tree in the rental home. Johnny and Bam are good friends and the sweatshirt might have been from Bam's clothing line which uses that heart symbol that H.I.M uses.

Their anniversary show was pitiful. I would not and will not sit at a meal with someone who whines and pouts and then gags about every single item put in front of them. If you are going to be that damn picky eat at home all the time. She is just a waste of breathable air for someone else, a waste of human organs that could go to use for someone else, etc.

Word, squirrleyQ. Which brings me to my question: Why does Nick take Jessica to these fancy schmancy restaurants where he knows the menu isn't going to consist of things like grilled cheese? I mean, he knows that she's a picky eater. Why do they go to restaurants to try new things, knowing that Jessica doesn't like to try shit? She doesn't seem like a fun date, IMO. I mean, she didn't even want to squish grapes for wine...something I really want to do before I kick the bucket.

Or I could be wrong, maybe these restaurants usually invite them like the one where Jess kept making the fake gagging noises? I don't know...

Anyhow, I watched the episode where Nick was watching USC football again, and I just have to say that little Cassie (is that her name?) is a cutie pie. I couldn't help but smile when she was jumping around making those funny noises. However, it pissed me off how Jessica just kept bothering Nick for the hell of it. I mean, really, why did they have to play in that room? Yeah, yeah, it's her house, but she didn't really want to be in that room. She just wanted to mess with Nick just because his full attention wasn't on her at the time.

Don't they often re-shoot these things after the fact? LIke on the Carmen/Dave show, didn't they have a very obviously fake packing scene where Dave's suitcase was entirely empty? So this might have been a later reshoot of the leaving scene.

Color me surprised that Jessica and Nick aren't on the list of numbers that were hacked into from Paris Hilton's T-Mobile. That would have made interesting television.

Caught the reruns this week-end.I have to say I hate Caycee more every time I see her on an episode. Did anyone catch the excited look on her face when she heard Nick's voice in the Halloween episode? And why did she have on a USC hat? Is it one of Nick's? And her burying her stupid little head in her hands every time she "slams" Nick are painful to watch.She's a pretty girl but as the French say ,"she has a face to slap". Ugh.
Also painful to watch is Jessica being a total pain in the ass when he's watching his alma mater(or whatever). Being from Texas you would think she'd understand football and religion are about equal to some people. Not necessarily something I agree w/ but none the less. My boyfriend is a basketball fanatic-he played in college. When he's into a game I read,go upstairs-whatever but I have enough respect and love for him to let him watch in peace. He does the same for me when i watch this show's drivel!

That is how it is in our house too. When it is football season mr. squirrel knows to just suck it up LOL. I am the football nut in this family and there are just certain games I have to watch and woe be the person who interrupts them. He's a former football player and hasn't watched a game since he played his last game but I have to watch all of my college's away games and I have to watch Auburn. With pro ball I must watch the Redskins because a high school class mate now plays with them and I have to watch the Falcons. Baseball season and basketball season I can do without.

I don't think Jessica gets the whole respect your spouse thing because in their family it is obviously all about one person. Jessica has always been the cash cow in that whacked out bunch and has always had all of the attention so that's all she knows.

Now pdean, you know this makes too much sense. That would require Jessica to acknowledge and put someone else's interests above her own, and she can't do that.

And Nick is a bandwagon hopper. His alma mater (actually I don't think he graduated but made it to junior year) is Miami of Ohio. He's been in L.A. so long he roots for USC and UCLA and the Lakers...but also other Ohio teams. He supports both regions.

Nick went to USC before he went to Miami U...although I still think its rather dumb that he is so hardcore into USC...especially being a Sundevil myself and hating USC.

Why did he end up transferring from USC to Miami of Ohio...anyone know?

I just saw the end of the Christmas episode. Can someone explain to me why Jessica spit out the OJ at the end? It just looked really strange and then she kept saying that she didn't swallow any. What the hell is up with that?

Exactly I'm the same with my boyfriend. He is football mad and when he is watching a match in the house I either watch it with him or read my book or do something else. I know its important to him and because I love him and we have a grown up relationship. Similarly he does the same for me when I want to watch car crash tv like this.

That's sweet, and it actually sounds like something he'd do based on what I've seen on the show. It seems to fit his personality.

Also caught the rerun this week-end where Jessica was so disgusted when Nick belched. She actually told his mother ," You created this monster." At least that's what I got out of it. Does she realize her belching and what not is what somewhat endeared her to her fans way back when. Is she too much of a celebrity now to do that? Ugh.

Do you know when he actually transferrred? I'm just curious because from everything that I know from going to Miami and from what I heard from one of his pledge brothers, this isn't true. I could be mistaken though.

Did anyone else notice how they skipped a full month from Thanksgiving to Christmas without any real explanation? I've noticed that Ashlee's show and Newlyweds started off on similar timeline and last week Ashlee was going to Texas for the family Thanksgiving dinner. But on Newlyweds they skipped Thanksgiving and went straight to Christmas in NYC. If my memory serves correct, I believe this Thanksgiving dinner was the one documented in Us Weekly where the family got together to show their kinship and whatnot. I feel like the left out a juicy part of the story not documenting this "happy" time.

I know I will be in the minority but I liked this episode. It is nice that they still have non-famous friends and stayed home at least for dinner on New Year's Eve.

I think besides Jessica, Nick & CaCee, there was the couple from the Kentucky Derby, Ken Paves(her hairdresser) & his boyfriend, Jessica's personal trainer, Justin from 98 Degrees, their bodyguard and one other girl who I have never seen before.

They seemed to be having fun together. I love that there are no Simpson parents lately.

I liked this episode too. Hell I have liked them all so far this season.

If this was last season somehow the prospect of Cacee having ringworm would have been an entire episode. I really wonder if the higher ups at MTV told Pa that he needed to get the fuck off the show this year and since Cacee isn't getting her own show that she can forget about anymore exposure this year.
