I think JS is just smart enough to realize that, by not wearing her rings, she stays in the spotlight while her show is on hiatus. She knows that people will wonder if there are marital problems. She might not be book-smart, but obviously she knows how to work the public and the media.

I'm not buying that she would actually clean her jewelry. I mean this is the girl who can't be bothered to pick up her clothes. Like, ever.

Being a married person and friends and family with many married people I dont know of anyone who actually takes their wedding rings off. They basically become like a part of your body and if in fact you do take it off you should feel weird not having it on, like something is missing.

But I bet that chastity ring her dad gave her never left her finger. I think she definitely wants to be married, I just dont think she wants to be married to Nick. I'm guessing if it were legal and wouldnt ruin her career(see:income), she and her dad would jump at the chance to be husband and wife. Hell, they already talk like they are.

Very good point KateQD. I will admit that I am one who will take off my engagement/wedding rings -- but to sleep or to shower. Do I forget to put them on sometimes, yes but very rarely. I usually notice them missing before I leave the house. And believe me, my rings are not as big or heavy as Jessica's.

FWIW: I've been in two 7-11s recently--in what must be the first times in years--and didn't see the notorious cd in either of them. One was in a hip African-American neighborhood and the other in a gay neighborhood, though, if that matters.

Mr Jane worked a major label shindig during GMA week (the big schmooze and awards fest in the Christian music industry) and there was cleavage all over the place. I think that whole "She was too sexy thing" is rubbish really.

Oh, I agree completely. These people just believe they should get whatever they want, and if they don't, they're just full of excuses. On her "Driven" episode, they went on and on about how she was so close to getting the Mickey Mouse Club, and would have gotten it, but then when she had to sing immediately following Christina, it was so unfair, and she just choked, blah, blah, blah, life is so unfair cakes. But in reality, the Mickey Mouse Club cast kids that could sing, dance, and act. She just can't dance or act at all, even all these years later. She didn't get the MMC or get signed with a Christian record label because she wasn't good enough and/or not ready. Her sit-come was cancelled after the pilot was cut, not because she can't act, but she really didn't want it anyway. Get over it, go home and work harder, and spare us the excuses. You don't always get what you want. God, I hate people like that; can't you just tell.

This time Ashlee and Drew will be there. Also, the whole 98 degrees gang will perform one Christmas song. I'm assuming it will be one of the songs from their Christmas album years ago. They already taped this. I'm surprised that they got Jeff Timmons to appear in the same place as Jessica, but from what I heard he pretty much avoided her during the taping. Smart boy!

I wonder if Nick will perform that Christmas song that Jessica was dissing back in season 1.

Saw Nick and Drew's commercial tonight, they are so cute together, I think they may actually get a show together, I mean if they're making an ad with the two of them, I think its totally feasible that they could get their own show. I'd watch it.

Not that I am defending Jessica or her creepy papa but the Christian music industry has changed only in the last couple of years or so. I remember when I was a teen there was a Christian heavy metal group named Stryper that were so not accepted by the mainstream Christian music industry because 1)they were metal and 2)they looked like girls-makeup, hair, etc. They threw bibles out at their concerts instead of drum sticks.

So when Jessica was trying to get signed on a Christian music label what six, seven, eight years ago I could see them saying no because she was a fourteen year old with the body of a twenty year old. Back then it was all about squeaky clean like Amy Grant. They turned their back on Micheal English when he had an affair. Now, it is more acceptable simply because they are having to change in order to get kids interested in positive music. You have Christian metal, Christian pop back then you didn't.

As someone who grew up not only in a christian home, with christian friends, and going to teen christian events - I don't see how Jessica had trouble with the christian music industry, 'cause she would of fit right in, yes, even back then.

Michael English after the affair has made several successful comebacks despite several other instances of personal problems. He has his own program on TBN, I believe. And Jim Bakker has the highest rated program on another major Christian network. Men in the industry can come back after a scarlet letter. Oddly enough, women can't. Amy Grant is still getting snubbed in some areas because she got a divorce.

And, weird as it sounds, even in the CCM world, sex sells. Christian labels won't say it out loud, but they operate that way as well. There's just a more subtle presentation of it. One of the biggies was bought by EMI in the early 90's, and the others have followed suit.
Even successful top-charting Christian artists don't make much. A group that had a crossover super hit this past year is broken-up, hating each other and broke. In that respect, the Simps are better off where they are.

Here's the backstory. You know that Jeff Timmons dislikes Jessica right? Well, he does. I think he might hates her family more than the girl. I'm sure they got along pretty well at the beginning. I have seen a few pictures of them goofing around in the early days. I don't think it's that difficult to figure out why they are no longer buddies. Jessica was a tag along. Wherever 98 degrees was, there she was. You must remember before the whole Newlyweds, Nick and the group were much more successful than Jessica. Too much of the Simpsons family can make a normal guy (who wasn't banging her) goes insane. I have heard the reference of Jessica being the Yoko Ono of 98 degrees several times. So why does Jeff more pi$$ed at Jessica (and her family) than the other bandmembers beside Nick? Well, Drew is Nick's brother, hard to fully express his feeling about the in-laws. Justin, he now seems like a tag along himself to Nick and Jessica. And 98 degrees was created by Jeff, so any damage done to the name because of Newlyweds and Nick's association to Jessica should be more personal to him than anyone else, and it doesn't help when he is trying to launch a solo career himself.

Now onto the taping of the Variety Show. I have a sister who's still a pretty hardcore 98 degrees fan. She read a report from a fan who was there during the taping on site's message board. Here the LINK(should read the whole thread...oh I guess the show in on the 10th not the 1st.)

My sis also told me sometimes ago why we never seen Jeff in Newlyweds at all. It turned out that he actually did hang out with Nick and the guys several times during the taping of Newlyweds, but asked them not to show him on the show.

I had no idea of any of that, except that 98 degrees was much more successful than Jess. Yikes! Is Justin the other guy from 98 degrees? He's on Newlyweds, I havent ever seen him before, I'll have to keep an eye out. Thanks for the info!

I just saw on Access Hollywood tonight (13th Oct) that Nick and Jessica will be doing one more session of Newlyweds and than it will be definitely over. When they celebrate their second anniversay, they are going to have the MTV crew with them.

But of course!

Why should anyone believe them when they say this? They kept saying last season was definitely the last, but yet they are coming back again. And why do they want to spend their anniversaries with the MTV cameras? Sounds to me like they do not value their marriage all that much.

Though I have to say I am curious to see if Nick seems as unhappy this season as he did during the last one.

I was in New York this week and saw Drew Lachey in RENT. He did a great job, but I did giggle a bit as his credits listed him as a "series regular on The Newlyweds". I guess hanging out with family makes you a series regular?

Either way, I liked him as Mark in RENT.

I know the dude (Nick) has lots of supporters here but I personally don't think he's that great. While he's better than Jessica, I still get the "jerky-fratboy-type" vibe from him. He seems the type that would only talk to the prettiest\most popular girls and not give anyone else the time of day. He seems to think of Jessica has a "Grade A" peice of meat and acts that's all that matters to him. He also comes off as the type to be a "mean drunk." Anyone else agree?

I actually think Nick is a pretty cool guy. Knowing he came from a "boy band," I would have thought he would be nothing more than a spoiled pretty-boy. Much to my surprise, he is a big sports fan (not a poser) and actually tries to do most of the physical labor around the house.

Check out the recent issue of People magazine with "plastic surgery" as the cover subject, dated October 18 Inside are photos of Cabbage Patch Dolls made to look like Jessica and Nick! They look so funny! Apparently they will not be sold on the market -- they were specially made and given as gifts from the Cabbage Patch company to Nick and Jessica.

I didn't check to see if the Jessica doll was wearing a wedding ring.

Has anyone seen Nick on Charmed? I saw an ep last week - i don't normally watch it anymore, but it was on and I was too lazy to change the channel - where his and Alyssa Milano's characters are saying good-bye. I don't know about Nick's acting skills, but there was so much chemistry between them! When they hugged, they both rubbed eachothers backs a lot, then lingered before Alyssa walked away, running her hand over his chest, arms and back. Maybe it was just good acting, but it looked pretty real to me. I bet it was more affection than Nick has had in a long time!

Like jarja above, I also saw Drew in Rent (last night). Fabulous performance - I had to keep reminding myself that that was Drew Lachey on stage.

I know they had a bit of press with Nick and Jessica at an afterparty when he made his debut in the show. I wonder whether Jessica understood what was going on at all. I know there were several late teens girls in the audience who I heard talking at intermission - they came to see Drew and were discussing how they really didn't understand what the show was about or what was going on.

I really hate to be the one to bring the Newlyweds up to the top again, since we have had a nice little break from Jessica and all, but...

I saw a commercial for 20/20 tonight, and our favorite Papa Simpson is being interviewed for the show.

From the quick preview I saw, Barbara asks Pa Simp something about how does it feel as a former minister to have a daughter that's a sex symbol? And then he makes this disgusting leery face. Just, ewww!

Of course, if Barbara wasn't such a lamo, soft-ball interviewer, she'd ask some tough questions about his creating his daughter's image as a stupid, brain-dead, selfish slut, and how he justifies that with his religion, but she won't. She would also ask how he can put his youngest daughter out there as a singer before she's ready, assuring she'll become a laughing stock and have a very short career.

I don't think I can watch. I hope someone here can take one for the team and watch this and report back.

Uh-oh. I stood in line at the grocery store today and Nick and Jess were on the cover of Star. Apparently he has cheated with a stripper.

I work overnight shift at WallyWorld and I admit, I read the article about the stripper and Nick. It was quoted form a "close source", that was at the bachelor party he attended, that Nick was drooling at the stripper and a girl going "at it". Then he supposedly disappeared into a bedroom with her and some other guys. Drew and Jeff Timmons from 98 Degrees were there too. Who knows if its true. Nick's wandering eye is being attributed to the fact that Jessucka is in demand, and he isnt. Who knows, who cares. At least, they finally took the lifesize cardboard stand-up of her down at work finally!!!

I would believe what is printed in Star and Enquirer before I'd believe In Touch and US weekly. Star and Enquirer are usually right on with their stuff-it just takes a couple of weeks for the "celebs" to admit it.

Actually I think Nick is in more demand that Jess is right now. Notice how you aren't seeing her face in every commercial anymore? She isn't on every talk show anymore? People got tired of her and fast.

I saw the Cabbage Patch Nick and Jessica and I thought they were so cute! Of course I love CPK's and yes I'm 30 LOL.

Okay, I watched it, but to be honest there wasn't much snarky material to discuss. The interview was not that long, and I don't remember much in particular. The one part I remember is that the interviewer (it wasn't Barbara--not sure who it was) asked Joe how it was for him to have Jessica and Ashlee placed on all of these sexy magazine covers. He said something about how he regrets a few of his choices for his daughters (I guess saying that he regrets having them on some of these covers?--not sure exactly). But then they had some lady in the industry make a comment, and she said that as a manager he did the right thing, and that even though there is conflict as him being the dad and manager, he would most likely continue having his girls do these types of things to help their career.

Okay I listened to the Christmas album from the link above. It was actually better than I expected and since I am a sucker for Christmas albums I'll be buying this one. Hey, I already own the Beach Boys Christmas and New Kids Christmas.

The one song Breath Of Heaven is a beautiful song and Jessica doesn't muck it up like I was afraid she would. Yes, you will be able to hear it and know it is her but she doesn't butcher it. I guess it holds a special place for me because it was that song my daughter did her first solo to with dance competition.
